Update this existing Squeek Siege site to the latest release of its source repository, used as the source of truth:

https://github.com/0xGr1mm/squeek-siege/tree/7b6ee60dd6a8e6cb152b0205affa1530ed986d80

Port the actual source from that commit into this project (not a review report). Since the hosted version it adds colour LED dot sprites for the mite and beetle enemies, ships the Doto and Pixelify Sans fonts with the site instead of loading Google Fonts, and fixes all five advisories from the previous site content check (results screen when storage fails, a stable daily siege, right-click cancel, share link path, status HTTP errors).

Squeek Siege is a static Vite + TypeScript browser tower defense for Squeekchain: every wave is a real SqueekCore settlement read at runtime from the public API https://api.squeekchain.com (CORS open), and tower power follows the hamster's real wheel pace. Preserve gameplay, balance, art, text, fonts, the LED dot-matrix look, the daily siege, the wave timeline with settlement links, and the live wheel status. Keep the runtime calls to api.squeekchain.com.

Do not add a backend, database, wallet login, analytics, trackers or any other external dependency.

Run npm ci and npm run build. Deliver the updated application source in a public GitHub repository with its final commit. Publish the updated dist directory under the existing site name.

    • High — bug: Running-wheel status causes horizontal scrolling at 320px: page width becomes 381px in Chromium and 384px in WebKit.
    • Medium — accessibility: Space on a focused timeline button starts a wave instead of opening that settlement. Let focused controls handle their native Space action.

    • highbug: the running-wheel status creates horizontal scrolling at 320pxsrc/style.css:36

Now: The live status uses white-space: nowrap without a width limit. Its running/overdrive message makes the first screen wider than a small phone.

Change to: In the existing mobile media query, set .live to max-width: 100% and white-space: normal, and keep the status dot from shrinking; allow the entire status to wrap within the page gutters.

Why: The required live wheel status must preserve the responsive layout and remain readable at 320px.

Chromium, viewport 320×700, bundled fonts loaded.

Serve dist/ and start Daily Siege.

Return HTTP 200 from https://api.squeekchain.com/v1/status with {"measurement":{"freshness":"online","coreStatus":"ACTIVE","rpmMilli":12345},"builder":{"anchor":{"blockHeight":1140}}}; wait for the next 15-second poll.

Expected: all status text stays inside the viewport with no horizontal scrolling.

      Actual: #live is 361px wide at x=20 and ends at x=381; document.documentElement.scrollWidth becomes 381 versus clientWidth 320 (61px overflow).

The resting response produced scrollWidth 320.

The running text is "SQUEEKTOSHI IS RUNNING · 12 RPM · OVERDRIVE 1.5×".

      Screenshot: test/scratch/taste/shots/chromium-320-active.png.

Confirmed in WebKit at 320×700: #live measures 363.734375px, ends at x=383.734375, and document scrollWidth is 384px (64px overflow).

    • mediumaccessibility: Space activates Start Wave instead of the focused buttonsrc/main.ts:116

Now: The global Space handler prevents the native activation of every focused button and always clicks #next. Timeline chips are semantic buttons but their normal Space interaction starts a wave instead of showing the selected settlement.

Change to: Skip the global Space shortcut when the event target is an interactive control (button, link, input, select, textarea, or contenteditable); let that control handle its native activation. Keep Space as Start Wave when focus is on the game/page.

Why: Keyboard users must be able to activate the focused timeline, treat, and upgrade controls without unexpectedly advancing gameplay.

      Chromium, viewport 390×844.

Load dist/, choose PLAY DAILY SIEGE, and use Tab/Shift+Tab to focus the third #timeline button (aria-label begins "Wave 3:") while still in the initial build phase.

      Press Space.

Expected: #waveCard changes to WAVE 3 and the game stays in build phase.

Actual: #waveCard stays WAVE 1 while #next changes from START WAVE 1 to WAVE 1 INCOMING….

Pressing Enter on the same focused chip correctly changes the card to WAVE 3, confirming that the Space shortcut suppresses its native button action.

The same Space-versus-Enter behavior was repeated in WebKit at 390×844.

  4. Build websiteAgent #2539 files changed

I reproduced both reported bugs on the previous build, fixed them, rebuilt dist/, and committed as 0db21d6. I answered both findings as fixed in .imd-responses.json at the repository root.

Running-wheel status was wider than a 320px screen (high): fixed.

    • Reproduced: in Chromium at 320×700, with the status API faked to return "running", the status bar ran from x=20 to x=381, so the page was 381px wide and scrolled sideways. This matches the report.
    • Fix: in the existing under-900px rule in src/style.css, the status box now has max-width: 100% and white-space: normal, and its dot can no longer shrink.
    • After: the box is 280px wide and ends at x=300, and the page is 320px wide. On the screenshot, "SQUEEKTOSHI IS RUNNING · 12 RPM · OVERDRIVE 1.5×" wraps to two lines inside the margins.

Space started the wave instead of pressing the focused button (medium): fixed.

    • Reproduced: with the third timeline chip focused at 390×844, Space started wave 1 and the wave card stayed on WAVE 1.
    • Fix: in src/main.ts, the Space shortcut now does nothing when focus is on a button, link, form field or editable element, so that control handles Space itself. The other hotkeys (1–4, T, F, P, U, Esc) are unchanged.
    • After: Space on chip 3 shows WAVE 3 and the game stays in the build phase. With nothing focused, Space still starts the wave.

    Checks:

    • npm ci, npm run build and npx tsc --noEmit all succeed.
    • I re-tested both fixes in Chromium only. WebKit isn't installed on this machine, so the reviewer's WebKit results were not re-checked.
    • The design probe (taste.mjs) passes 12 of 16 checks, the same as last round. The four that fail are deliberate and now listed in the README:
      • Layout: the intro dialog's buttons sit over the shop at 390px wide. That is the dialog itself; there is no sideways scroll at any width.
      • Casing and labels above headings: the all-caps game labels are part of the LED look.
      • Word count: prose on the first screen is slightly over the probe's word limit at 390px.

    Documentation:

    • The README has a new validation row with the before-and-after numbers and a note on the new Space behaviour.
    • DESIGN.md now describes how the status wraps on narrow screens.
    • The README used to point to artifacts/validation.md, which doesn't exist in the repository, so those notes are now in the README itself.

Git ignores .imd-responses.json (the rule isn't in the project's .gitignore), so it sits in the working tree but is not part of the commit.

  5. Design criticAgent #32found nothing

Both findings from the last round are fixed in the current dist/. I re-ran the original reproductions in Chromium, but WebKit wouldn't start on this machine, so the Safari side is unconfirmed. Nothing new turned up that I could reproduce, so .imd-findings.json is {"findings":[]}.

    Previous findings

    • [high] bug: the running-wheel status scrolled sideways at 320px. Fixed.
      • Code: src/style.css:37 gives the dot flex: none, and src/style.css:117 sets .live { max-width: 100%; white-space: normal; } in the max-width 900px media query. The built CSS has both rules.
      • Test: Chromium at 320×700, with /v1/status returning the ACTIVE fixture (rpmMilli: 12345).
      • 320 wide: #live runs from x=20 to x=300 (280px wide, 52px tall, so the text wraps to two lines). scrollWidth is 320 and clientWidth is 320.
      • 390 wide: #live runs from x=20 to x=370, and scrollWidth is 390.
      • The status text was "SQUEEKTOSHI IS RUNNING · 12 RPM · OVERDRIVE 1.5×".
      • The probe also reports no horizontal scroll at 320, 390 or 1440.
    • [medium] accessibility: Space started a wave instead of pressing the focused button. Fixed.
      • Code: at src/main.ts:115-116, Space now returns early when the focus is on a button, link, input, select, textarea, summary, [role=button] or editable text.
      • Test: Chromium at 390×844, after clicking PLAY DAILY SIEGE.
      • Before Space: the wave card read "WAVE 1 OF 14 · NEXT UP" and #next read "START WAVE 1 · 45s SPACE".
      • Space on the third timeline chip: the wave card changed to "WAVE 3 OF 14 / ROUND #196", and #next stayed "START WAVE 1".
      • Space with nothing focused: #next changed to "WAVE 1 INCOMING…", so the shortcut still works.

WebKit: I couldn't run it. The current WebKit build (2388) and the cached one (2370, run with Playwright 1.64) both fail because system libraries are missing (libgtk-4.so.1, libgraphene-1.0.so.0). The fixes are plain CSS and DOM checks with nothing engine-specific, but I haven't measured them in Safari's engine this round.

Probe flags not raised as findings:

    • layout: the PLAY DAILY SIEGE and RANDOM ROUNDS buttons cover the shop text. They sit on the intro dialog, which is meant to cover the game.
    • casing: nine all-caps labels such as "WHEEL POWER" and "SEED SPITTER".
    • eyebrows: six labels like "SEEDS" sitting above numbers. These and the caps are game HUD stat labels in the site's own LED dot-matrix style, which the brief says to keep.
    • copy-budget: 104 words of prose on the first screen at 1440, over the bar of 90. At 390 it is 51, under the bar of 60. This is the same intro text as before and wasn't raised last round.

This settles what I raised; none of these is new.

The idea: Squeek Siege is a tower defense where every wave is a real Squeekchain settlement. One LED dot-matrix look carries it, and tower power follows the hamster's real wheel pace.
