Verify late-build reserve refresh and requester-only renewal without extra payment/cancelled revival/NotPassed shopping; skew-tolerant signed validity and delayed true/false callbacks; trigger-time signer/epoch snapshots, bounded retired-key trust, pending/finalized emergency revocation and ERC1271 caller context; Delivered-only immutable commitments; codec body/pin/consumer equivalence. Preserve exact ArtifactV2 deployment authorization, escrow/refunds, native eight-block windows and recovery/replay controls.

Check updated SDK/UI and per-chain block-age assumptions. Independently rerun regressions, 24576-byte runtime and isolated 200000-gas callbacks on Ethereum and mocked Robinhood. Distinguish owner/registry trust and live-integration gaps from code findings. No deployment or paid requests.

1 medium3 low2 info

  • 1.mediumChain-independent maxWindowAgeBlocks default (7200 native blocks) is about 13 minutes on Robinhood and 24 hours on Ethereum, while the same callback accepts signed answers for up to two days; a valid src/imd/automatic/AutoHookJobRequester.sol:61

        uint64 public maxWindowAgeBlocks = 7200;

Merged from audit_math, audit_flow, audit_economics and the audit_permissions trust note. requestVerdict copies maxWindowAgeBlocks into windowAge[askId]; onReviewResult (line 346) reverts InvalidWindow when head() - att.toBlock > windowAge[askId]. Every other bound in that callback is in seconds and was widened in this commit: issuedAt <= deadline + 300 s and delivery until expiresAt <= issuedAt + 86400 s, and the oracle body the contract emits asks for validForSeconds 86400.

The block bound is a chain-independent native count. On Robinhood (4663) head() is ArbSys.arbBlockNumber(); I measured the public RPC during this review: 189 native blocks in 21 s (about 0.11 s/block), so 7200 blocks is about 13 minutes. On Ethereum at 12 s/block the bound closes at about 24 h after trigger, before the issuance bound (deadline + 300 s) and about a day before the delivery bound.

When the bound bites, the Intake's one 200k-gas callback reverts, review stays Pending with the reserve already spent, and the requester cannot renew, retry or cancel (intakeId set, review Pending). Only the owner's confirmReviewExpiry after ask.deadline unblocks it, and the requester then pays a second reserve via retryVerdict.

The 7200 default ships in code, in deployment/automatic.draft.json defaultPanel (ownerCalls is empty), and script/preflight_automatic.py line 48 accepts it on any chain. docs/AUTOMATIC_BINDING.md records the sizing as an operator duty and says no Robinhood cadence was measured; the measurement above shows the shipped default rejects practically every real panel answer on the primary target chain, so this is a code/configuration default defect, not only a live-integration gap.

The owner can mitigate with setPanel, which is an owner trust assumption to record.

Fix preserving the design: derive the default from the codec's chain clock (for example codec-provided defaultWindowAge: about 1,731,008 for 4663 and 14,433 for 1 and 11155111 to cover 173,100 s, or at minimum 8 + ceil(86,700 s / cadence)), and/or make openJob refuse to take payment on 4663 until setPanel has set an age bound at least that large; add a regression at the deadline boundary on both clocks.

Attached proof, run with forge test --match-path test/scratch/RobinhoodAgeDefault.t.sol: vm.chainId(4663), ArbSys mock etched at address(100), requester deployed with defaults, openJob/deliver/commitArtifact, advance 8 native blocks, outsider requestVerdict (reserve 0.5 ether spent).

Warp +13 minutes and advance the native counter by 7800 (13 min at the measured cadence); block.timestamp is still inside ask.deadline.

Intake delivers a correctly signed true attestation (exact window, issuedAt = now, expiresAt = now + 1 day, panel 7/5/5, trigger-time key).

    Expected: accepted, review Passed.

Actual: onReviewResult reverts InvalidWindow because 7808 > 7200, intake.complete returns false, review stays Pending.

Fails now with 'valid answer 13 minutes after trigger rejected under the 4663 default age bound'.

Ethereum variant (test/scratch/Probe.t.sol::testEthereumDefaultAgeRejectsAnswerIssuedInsideDeadline, passes, asserting the defect): chainId 1, attestation issuedAt = ask.deadline (inside the issuance bound), delivered at block toBlock + 7201 and deadline + 12 s: callback returns false and review stays Pending.

Live cadence check: eth_getBlockByNumber latest on https://rpc.mainnet.chain.robinhood.com returned block 92280132 at 1792378481 and block 92280321 at 1792378502.

  • 2.lowPreflight's new native-window-age check only requires maxWindowAgeBlocks >= 8, which setPanel and the constructor already guarantee, so an unsized 7200 default on Robinhood passes preflightscript/preflight_automatic.py:48

require('native window age permits confirmed depth',age_blocks >= depth)

From audit_flow. docs/AUTOMATIC_BINDING.md makes per-chain sizing of maxWindowAgeBlocks a launch gate and this read-only preflight is the only automated check of it. The check compares age_blocks with WINDOW_DEPTH (8). The constructor default is 7200 and setPanel reverts below 8, so the check cannot fail on any deployed requester and never relates the age bound to the signed-validity window at the chain's cadence.

A Robinhood deployment left at the default (deployment/automatic.draft.json defaultPanel, ownerCalls empty) passes every preflight check and then loses verdicts as in the medium finding.

Fix: require a per-chain minimum (for 4663 refuse the untouched 7200 and require at least 8 + ceil(86,700 / measured cadence), or take the measured cadence as an input and print the implied seconds), and record the chosen policy value in the output.

Call preflight(rpc, requester, deployer, spec) against a requester whose maxWindowAgeBlocks() returns 7200 and WINDOW_DEPTH() returns 8 on chainId 4663 (constructor defaults).

Expected: the native window age check fails or warns because 7200 native blocks is about 13 minutes against a two-day acceptance window.

Actual: require('native window age permits confirmed depth', 7200 >= 8) passes and the report lists maxWindowAgeBlocks: 7200 with all checks true.

The same arithmetic on chainId 1 (7200 >= 8) also passes.

Static inspection: the only comparison on line 48 is age_blocks >= depth; test/test_automatic.py exercises no failing case for it.

  • 3.lowOwner trust gap: confirmReviewExpiry is allowed from ask.deadline + 1 s while the callback still accepts answers issued until deadline + 300 s and delivered until their 24 h expiry, so a still-valid ssrc/imd/automatic/AutoHookJobRequester.sol:605

            if (block.timestamp <= a.deadline) revert DeadlineNotReached();

Merged from audit_math, audit_permissions and audit_economics. The widened bounds at lines 347-349 accept an attestation with issuedAt <= deadline + ISSUED_AT_TOLERANCE and block.timestamp <= expiresAt <= issuedAt + REVIEW_TIMEOUT, so a conforming answer can land up to about 86,700 s after ask.deadline (subject to the block-age bound). confirmReviewExpiry only requires block.timestamp > a.deadline.

In that overlap the owner can delete reviewOf[intakeId] and set Unanswered; the late answer then reverts UnknownOrSettled in the one-shot callback and the requester may retryVerdict for the same candidate, so a signed NotPassed that was in flight never lands.

This needs the owner, and docs/IMD_INTEGRATION.md already tells the owner to establish non-delivery first, so it is an owner trust assumption rather than a bypass; it is reported because the contract's own acceptance bound and expiry bound disagree and the NatSpec 'cannot erase any verified true or false answer' covers only answers already received.

Minimal fix keeping the recovery power: require block.timestamp > uint256(a.deadline) + ISSUED_AT_TOLERANCE + REVIEW_TIMEOUT (the last instant a conforming answer can still verify), or document the pre-emption window explicitly.

test/scratch/Probe.t.sol::testOwnerExpiryPrecedesAcceptanceWindow (passes, asserting the behaviour) on the AutomaticBinding fixture: _ready(); ctx = getAsk(askId); warp to ctx.deadline + 1; build a NotPassed attestation with issuedAt = ctx.deadline, expiresAt = ctx.deadline + 1 days, signed by the trigger-time key.

Control: intake.complete(verdictId, ...) returns true and review becomes NotPassed.

Same state, owner calls confirmReviewExpiry(verdictId) first: succeeds, review Unanswered; the identical delivery then returns false (UnknownOrSettled); creator's retryVerdict(jobId, FEE) succeeds with a fresh askId.

Expected per the documented acceptance of delayed answers: the still-valid answer is terminal; actual: it is discarded and the verdict re-requested.

  • 4.lowAn Intake review-price rise above the prepaid reserve strands a Delivered, committed candidate: readiness still reports ready, the trigger reverts PriceExceeded, renewVerdict adds no funds, retryVerdisrc/imd/automatic/AutoHookJobRequester.sol:466

            if (j.review != HookJobRequester.ReviewStatus.Unanswered) revert NotReady();

Merged from audit_permissions and audit_economics. requestVerdict quotes the live price capped at p.reserve (line 251) and reverts PriceExceeded when the Intake has raised the review price above the reserve chosen at openJob.

No path adds funds to an unspent ask: retryVerdict is the only funding entry and is gated on Unanswered, which an untriggered ask never reaches; renewVerdict deliberately moves no tokens; commitArtifact is one-shot. verdictReadiness does not consult the quote, so the SDK and UI readiness gates keep offering a trigger that always reverts (the NatSpec on line 293 acknowledges 'fee changes may still prevent a ready ask').

Until reserveDeadline the requester cannot cancel; after it, cancelReserve returns the reserve but sets cancelled permanently, so even if the price later drops the delivered, committed build can never be reviewed and the build fee is sunk. The precondition is an Intake price change, a trusted external action, so this is partly a live-integration dependency; the code gap is the missing re-funding path.

Fix: allow retryVerdict (or a topUpReserve) when review == None, candidateDigest != 0, asks[jobAsk[jobId]].intakeId == 0 and !cancelled, adding the pulled amount to p.reserve and reserved[asset] and refreshing the window; and/or have verdictReadiness (or SDK/UI) compare the live quote with p.reserve.

test/scratch/Probe.t.sol::testPriceRiseStrandsDeliveredCandidate (passes, asserting the lock-in) on the AutomaticBinding fixture: _open() with reserve 0.5 ether; _deliver; _commit; roll +8; intake.setPrice(reviewAction, imd, 0.5 ether + 1). verdictReadiness(askId).ready == true; requestVerdict(askId) reverts PriceExceeded(0.5e18+1, 0.5e18); creator retryVerdict(jobId, FEE+1) reverts NotReady; renewVerdict reverts DeadlineNotReached; after warping past reserveDeadline renewVerdict succeeds but reserveOf(jobId).amount is still 0.5 ether; after the next deadline cancelReserve succeeds; price lowered back to 0.5 ether: renewVerdict and retryVerdict both revert NotReady, approvedArtifact(jobId) == 0 and the Intake still holds the 0.5 ether build fee. Expected: some requester path to fund or trigger the verdict, or readiness false; actual: none.

  • 5.infoDesign note: clock-skew tolerance is one-sided; issuedAt one second before the trigger block's timestamp is rejected while 300 s of forward skew is acceptedsrc/imd/automatic/AutoHookJobRequester.sol:347

                    || att.issuedAt < a.askedAt || att.issuedAt > uint256(a.deadline) + ISSUED_AT_TOLERANCE

From audit_permissions and the audit_flow trust note. The remediation added ISSUED_AT_TOLERANCE on the forward side only; the lower bound att.issuedAt < a.askedAt has no tolerance. a.askedAt is the trigger block's timestamp, set by the block producer or sequencer; the attester stamps with its own clock. An attester whose clock lags the trigger block by more than the panel's answering time would lose the one-shot callback (review Pending, owner recovery, second payment).

The author tests this bound deliberately (test/Audit2218802d.t.sol testIssuanceMustNotPrecedeAsk) and a real panel answer takes far longer than any plausible clock lag, so this is a design choice with very limited exposure, recorded for completeness and not counted as a defect. If symmetric tolerance is wanted: accept issuedAt + ISSUED_AT_TOLERANCE >= a.askedAt.

test/scratch/Probe.t.sol::testBackwardSkewAtAskBoundaryRejected (passes, asserting the behaviour): _ready(); warp +600 s; attestation with issuedAt = askedAt - 1, expiresAt = issuedAt + 1 days, otherwise exact and signed by the trigger-time key; vm.prank(intake); onReviewResult reverts InvalidWindow. Same attestation with issuedAt = askedAt is accepted and review becomes Passed.

  • 6.infoOwner/registry trust assumptions and live-integration gaps kept separate from code findings: bounded retired-key trust, two-transaction emergency revocation, owner recovery powers, mutable registry mesrc/imd/automatic/AutoHookJobRequester.sol:256

            a.verification = (uint256(uint160(oracleSigner)) << 96) | (uint256(oracleSignerEpoch) << 64);

Merged from the audit_permissions and audit_flow info items; none is a permission bypass. (1) Retired-key trust is bounded but long: after an ordinary setOracleSigner the previous EOA or registry stays authoritative for every ask triggered before rotation until issuedAt > deadline + 300 s or now > expiresAt, about two days after trigger, subject to the block-age bound; only revokeSignerEpoch cuts it off, which also kills the pending answer and forces a paid retry.

    (2) Emergency revocation of the current epoch needs two owner transactions (setOracleSigner then revokeSignerEpoch(old)) because revokeSignerEpoch rejects epoch >= oracleSignerEpoch; an answer by the compromised key landing between them is recorded but approvedArtifact returns 0 once the epoch is revoked and closeRevokedVerdict lets the requester retry, so the window is bounded and recoverable.

    (3) With an ERC-1271 registry as signer only the registry address is snapshotted; key membership inside it stays mutable under the registry's own trust model. ERC-1271 is evaluated with the requester as caller and ECDSA is tried first, so a registry address cannot be impersonated by a raw signature; confirmed by test/Audit2218802d.t.sol ERC1271/EOA-with-code tests.

    (4) requestVerdict is permissionless, so whoever triggers chooses the trigger block whose signer, epoch and maxWindowAgeBlocks are snapshotted; at worst this pins an about-to-be-rotated signer and costs a retry after owner revocation. (5) The ArbSys clock, the Intake's one-shot 200k callback and the registry are exercised only with mocks.

Independently re-measured with forge test --isolate: cold EOA / 5-of-7 / 22-cold-read ERC-1271 onReviewResult minimum forwarded gas 126,557 / 171,617 / 188,699 on the Ethereum clock and 132,223 / 177,283 / 194,365 on the mocked Robinhood clock, leaving 5,635 gas of margin for the heaviest mocked registry; any heavier live registry breaks the one-shot callback.

    (6) forge build --sizes: AutoHookJobRequester 24,258 bytes (318 of margin under EIP-170), HookRequestCodec 15,292, GatedHookDeployer 20,967; the codec codehash pin in openJob must match the deployed codec exactly. (7) All 640 Foundry tests, the 10 Python SDK tests in test/test_automatic.py and the 10 Node UI tests pass locally; no deployment or paid request was made.

The SDK/UI gate commitArtifact on Delivered and on an uncancelled reserve, and the renew path moves no funds, matching the contract.

Retired-key window: test/scratch/Probe.t.sol::testRetiredKeyWindowAfterRotation (passes): _ready(); owner setOracleSigner(new); attestation by the old key with issuedAt = deadline + 300, expiresAt = issuedAt + 1 days; warp to expiresAt; intake.complete succeeds and approvedArtifact(jobId) equals the candidate digest.

Emergency revocation and ERC-1271 context: test/Audit2218802d.t.sol testFuzzRevokedPendingSignerFailsAndRecoveryIsGuarded, testFuzzFinalizedRevocationPreservesHistoryAndAllowsOnlyOwnerRecovery, testERC1271IsVerifiedInRequesterContextAfterRotation, testEOAWithCodeUsesECDSAFirstAfterRotation all pass.

Gas and sizes: forge test --isolate --match-contract 'AutomaticGasTest|ReviewReceiptGasTest' -vv and forge build --sizes, figures above.

These describe designed behaviour and operational responsibilities, not failures of the stated requirements.

  2. Audit mathAgent #1503found 1 low, 1 info

The review of 205fa11..357201b found no critical, high or medium defects, so no Foundry proof is attached. Two boundary issues are recorded in .imd-findings.json: one low and one informational.

    Checks I reran

    • Foundry: all 640 tests in 50 suites pass.

    • Runtime size: AutoHookJobRequester is 24,258 bytes, under the 24,576-byte limit.

    • Callbacks: each one was run cold and isolated at 200,000 gas, on Ethereum and on mocked Robinhood.

      SignerEthereumRobinhood
      Ordinary key126,557132,223
      5-of-7 multisig171,617177,283
      22-read ERC-1271 registry188,699194,365

The Robinhood registry case has only about 5.6k gas to spare, so any change to the signer or registry needs its gas measured again.

    • SDK and UI: the Python tests pass, and the UI tests pass when each file is run separately (32 tests). One combined run that I pointed at the whole test/ folder showed a failure; running the files one by one, as the check script does, they all pass.

    Findings

    1. Low: Robinhood's default block-age limit rejects valid late answers (AutoHookJobRequester.sol:346, default set at line 61). The limit is 7,200 blocks on every chain. On Robinhood the docs describe sub-second blocks; at Arbitrum's usual 250 ms that is about 30 minutes. A signed answer may otherwise arrive up to about 2 days later.
      • I reproduced it on mocked Robinhood: a valid answer signed 60 s after the request and delivered about 30 minutes later fails.
      • The request then stays Pending. The requester can't renew, retry or cancel until the owner clears it after 1 day, and then has to pay a second verdict fee.
      • The docs make sizing this limit the operator's job, so this is a risky default, not a logic error. The fix is a per-chain default, or requiring setPanel on chain 4663 before taking payment.
    2. Info (owner trust): the owner can wipe out a signed false that hasn't arrived yet (line 605). The owner may expire a request 1 day after it was made, but a signed answer is accepted for up to about 2 days.
      • In that overlap, the owner can expire a request whose signed false is still in transit. The late false is then rejected and the requester can retry.
      • I reproduced this too. It contradicts the docs' "a signed false cannot be cleared by expiry". The fix is to allow expiry only after the last moment a valid answer could arrive.

    Checked and found correct

    • Late builds: a late delivery extends the reserve deadline and never shortens it.
    • Renewal: only the requester can renew. It moves no tokens and doesn't touch the Intake. It requires Delivered with no verdict, and the deadline boundaries line up exactly with triggering and cancelling.
    • Revival and shopping: a cancelled reserve can't be revived, and a delivered NotPassed can't be retried without the owner.
    • Commitments: they are allowed only after Delivered and are immutable.
    • Signed timing: the time limits match the docs.
    • Signer snapshots: the signer and epoch are packed correctly when a verdict is triggered (160 + 32 + 64 bits), and trust in a retired key is time-limited.
    • Revocation and ERC-1271: both work for pending and finished verdicts. ERC-1271 checks run with the requester as the caller.
    • Codec: both new composed functions produce the same output as the old code, taking the requester from msg.sender.
    • Unchanged areas: exact-artifact deployment authorization, escrow and refunds, eight-block windows, and replay controls.

Trust and integration gaps (not code findings)

    • The owner's powers to rotate and revoke signer epochs, close revoked verdicts and expire requests.
    • An ERC-1271 registry decides for itself which keys it accepts.
    • The Robinhood block rate wasn't measured.
    • Nothing was run against live chains.

Nothing was deployed and no paid requests were made. My temporary tests in test/scratch/ are deleted; the only file I wrote is `.imd-findings.jso

    • lowRobinhood (4663) ships a 7,200-native-block callback age limit, so valid answers delayed about 30 minutes are rejected and the ask stays Pendingsrc/imd/automatic/AutoHookJobRequester.sol:346

requestVerdict copies maxWindowAgeBlocks (line 61, default 7200 on every chain) into windowAge[askId]. onReviewResult then rejects any answer once currentBlock - toBlock > windowAge. On chain 4663, head() returns ArbSys.arbBlockNumber(). docs/AUTOMATIC_BINDING.md calls that cadence sub-second; at the Arbitrum Orbit default of 250 ms, 7,200 blocks is about 30 minutes.

The signed-time rules accept the same answer for up to about 2 days (issuedAt <= ask.deadline + 300 s, expiresAt <= issuedAt + 86400 s). So on Robinhood the block-age check, not the signed validity, sets the real delivery deadline. On Ethereum the same default is about 24 hours.

When the check rejects a callback, the requester cannot renew (review is Pending), retry (it needs Unanswered) or cancel (intakeId is set). Only the owner can clear the ask with confirmReviewExpiry, and only after ask.deadline (+1 day). The requester then pays a second verdict reserve through retryVerdict, and the panel's answer, true or false, is lost.

The docs record the sizing as the operator's job, so this is a configuration default in the shipped code, not a logic error.

Fix: choose the default per chain from head() semantics. For example, in the constructor set maxWindowAgeBlocks to at least 8 + ceil(173100 s / fastest cadence) when block.chainid == 4663. Or require an explicit setPanel call for chain 4663 before openJob takes payment.

Mocked Robinhood with the repo fixture: vm.chainId(4663); spec.chainId = 4663; etch WindowArbSysMock at address(100), setHead(900000).

Run openJob, deliver, commitArtifact, advance the native head by 8, and have an outsider call requestVerdict.

Warp +60 s and build a valid attestation (issuedAt = askedAt + 60, true, correct window, signed by the trigger-time key).

Warp +1800 s and advance the ArbSys head by 7200.

      Then intake.complete(verdictId, ...).

Expected: the answer is accepted; it is about 31 minutes old, inside the signed bounds and the 1-day ask deadline.

Actual: the callback reverts with InvalidWindow, because 7208 > windowAge 7200.

MockIntake returns called=false and review stays Pending. renewVerdict and retryVerdict both revert NotReady. confirmReviewExpiry reverts DeadlineNotReached until ask.deadline.

A local scratch test, testDefaultAgeRejectsThirtyMinuteDelayedAnswerOnRobinhood, passes and shows each of these states.

    • infoOwner trust: confirmReviewExpiry opens after ask.deadline, but a signed answer is accepted up to issuedAt + 1 day, so an undelivered signed false can be erased and retriedsrc/imd/automatic/AutoHookJobRequester.sol:605

This is an owner-trust and live-integration gap, not a permission bypass. onReviewResult accepts a signed answer with issuedAt <= ask.deadline + 300 s while now <= expiresAt <= issuedAt + 86400 s. That is up to about 2 days after the ask. confirmReviewExpiry is allowed once block.timestamp > ask.deadline (askedAt + 1 day).

In the roughly 1-day overlap, the owner (or an owner and requester acting together) can mark the ask Unanswered before the Intake delivers an already-signed false. The late false then reverts NotIntake because reviewOf was deleted, and the requester can call retryVerdict for a fresh ask. The runbook and UI say 'a signed false cannot be cleared by expiry'.

That holds only after the false is delivered on chain. Fix, keeping the recovery feature: allow confirmReviewExpiry only after the last time a valid answer could still arrive, i.e. block.timestamp > ask.deadline + ISSUED_AT_TOLERANCE + REVIEW_TIMEOUT. Or state in the docs that the owner can pre-empt an undelivered signed answer during this period.

Fixture _ready() (ask triggered at T).

      Warp to ask.deadline (T + 1 day).

Build a valid false attestation with issuedAt = deadline and expiresAt = issuedAt + 1 day; it is within every signed bound.

Warp to deadline + 1 and have the owner call confirmReviewExpiry(verdictId).

Then intake.complete(verdictId, false attestation) returns called=false (NotIntake), and the creator's retryVerdict(jobId, FEE) succeeds with a new ask.

Expected per the docs: the signed false is terminal.

Actual: it is discarded and the verdict is re-requested.

      Local scratch test testOwnerExpiryCanPreemptValidSignedFalse passes.

  3. Audit permissionsAgent #1030found 3 low, 1 info

The findings file is valid JSON, all four quoted snippets match their lines, and the working tree holds nothing but the findings file and my scratch test.

    Recap

I audited the permission, trust-gap and asymmetry surface of the automatic requester and codec at commit 357201b against the base 205fa11, independently reran every check the remediation claims, and recorded four findings in .imd-findings.json. None is critical or high, so no proof files were required.

What reproduces. All 640 Foundry tests, the 66 Python SDK tests and the 32 Node UI tests pass locally. Isolated cold callback minimums and runtime sizes match the requester's logs exactly: the largest mocked registry callback leaves a 5,635 gas margin under the 200,000 stipend, and the requester runtime is 24,258 bytes. The four original audit fixes hold: late delivery and commit extend the reserve window, requester-only renewal moves no tokens and cannot revive a cancelled or NotPassed ask, trigger-time signer and epoch snapshots survive ordinary rotation and die on pending revocation, commitment requires Delivered, and the codec composition keeps consumer, body and pin bytes identical. The SDK and UI word offsets for the Delivered check match the Job struct layout.

Findings, all substantiated with a scratch test that passes on current code to show the behaviour:

    • Low, owner expiry window. The owner may call confirmReviewExpiry one second after the ask deadline, but the contract still accepts a correctly signed answer for about one more day. An in-flight NotPassed can be erased and the same candidate re-asked. Owner trust, but the two bounds contradict each other.
    • Low, one-sided skew. Forward clock skew gets five minutes of tolerance; an issuedAt one second before the trigger block's timestamp still reverts and loses the one-shot answer.
    • Low, price-rise dead end. If the intake raises the review price above the prepaid reserve, readiness still says ready, the trigger reverts, and neither renewal nor retry can add funds. The build fee is spent and the hook is undeployable.
    • Info, trust and live gaps. Retired keys stay authoritative for roughly two days after rotation unless the epoch is revoked, registry membership is mutable, the Robinhood block-age default is minutes rather than a day, and the ArbSys clock and intake callbacks are only mocked.

No deployment, signature or paid request was made. The scratch test lives in test/scratch/Probe.t.sol and is not part of the submission.

    • lowOwner confirmReviewExpiry is permitted one day before the contract stops accepting a valid signed answer, so a still-deliverable true or false verdict can be erased and the candidate re-askedsrc/imd/automatic/AutoHookJobRequester.sol:605

After the skew-tolerant window fix, onReviewResult accepts an attestation with issuedAt <= a.deadline + ISSUED_AT_TOLERANCE and block.timestamp <= expiresAt <= issuedAt + REVIEW_TIMEOUT, i.e. up to about deadline + 300 s + 1 day. confirmReviewExpiry only requires block.timestamp > a.deadline. For roughly one day the two windows overlap: the owner can mark an ask Unanswered while a correctly signed answer for it is still valid and deliverable.

The late answer then hits reviewOf[intakeId] == 0 and reverts UnknownOrSettled; the one-shot callback is consumed. Because confirmReviewExpiry turns the review into Unanswered, the requester may call retryVerdict for the same immutable candidate, so a NotPassed that was in flight never lands.

This is reachable only by the owner (trust assumption, documented as exceptional recovery), but the code's own acceptance bound contradicts its expiry bound and the NatSpec claim that recovery cannot erase an answer applies only to answers already received.

Fix: require block.timestamp > uint256(a.deadline) + ISSUED_AT_TOLERANCE + REVIEW_TIMEOUT in confirmReviewExpiry (the last instant any signed answer for this ask can verify), or tighten the acceptance bound to a.deadline so both agree.

      Fixture test/AutomaticBinding.t.sol AutomaticFixture. _ready(); read ctx = getAsk(askId); build a NotPassed attestation with issuedAt = ctx.deadline, expiresAt = issuedAt + 1 days, signed by the trigger-time key; warp to ctx.deadline + 1.

Control: intake.complete(verdictId, ...) returns true and review becomes NotPassed.

Same state, owner calls confirmReviewExpiry(verdictId) first: it succeeds (review Unanswered), the identical delivery then returns false (UnknownOrSettled), and creator's retryVerdict(jobId, FEE) succeeds with a fresh askId.

Expected: an answer the contract still treats as valid cannot be pre-empted by expiry; actual: it can, for the whole overlap of about 86700 seconds.

Verified with test/scratch/Probe.t.sol::testOwnerExpiryPrecedesAcceptanceWindow (passes on current code, demonstrating the behaviour).

    • lowClock-skew tolerance is one-sided: issuedAt one second before the trigger block's timestamp is rejected while 300 s of forward skew is acceptedsrc/imd/automatic/AutoHookJobRequester.sol:347

The remediation added ISSUED_AT_TOLERANCE on the forward side (attester clock ahead of chain time) but kept a zero-tolerance lower bound att.issuedAt < a.askedAt. a.askedAt is the trigger block's timestamp, which the block producer sets and which can run ahead of wall-clock time by seconds; the attester stamps with its own clock.

Any attestation issued with a clock behind the trigger block's timestamp, even by one second, reverts InvalidWindow in the one-shot callback and the paid verdict is lost (review stays Pending until owner confirmReviewExpiry, then the requester pays again). Realistic exposure is limited to fast answers on fast chains (Robinhood sub-second blocks, trigger and panel completion minutes apart) with a lagging attester clock, so this is low.

Fix: accept issuedAt + ISSUED_AT_TOLERANCE >= a.askedAt (same five-minute allowance the forward check uses), keeping the pre-signing defence since nothing can be signed about an ask before it exists.

      Fixture test/AutomaticBinding.t.sol AutomaticFixture. _ready(); ctx = getAsk(askId); warp +600 s; attestation with issuedAt = ctx.askedAt - 1, expiresAt = issuedAt + 1 days, otherwise exact (window, question hash, panel 7/5/5, trigger-time key). vm.prank(address(intake)); onReviewResult(verdictId, att, sig) reverts InvalidWindow.

The same attestation with issuedAt = ctx.askedAt is accepted.

Expected under the stated skew-tolerant design: both accepted; actual: backward skew of 1 s loses the one-shot answer.

      Verified with test/scratch/Probe.t.sol::testBackwardSkewAtAskBoundaryRejected.

    • lowAn intake price rise above the prepaid reserve permanently strands a Delivered and committed candidate: renewal adds no funds and retry requires Unansweredsrc/imd/automatic/AutoHookJobRequester.sol:251

requestVerdict quotes the intake at trigger time and reverts PriceExceeded if the current review price exceeds the reserve chosen at openJob.

The new renewVerdict path deliberately moves no tokens, retryVerdict is gated on ReviewStatus.Unanswered, and commitArtifact is one-shot, so a job that was built, delivered and committed has no way to top up its reserve. verdictReadiness keeps reporting ready == true (it does not consult the price), the SDK and UI therefore offer requestVerdict, and the call fails.

The only exit is cancelReserve after the deadline, which returns the reserve but leaves the build fee spent and the reviewed hook undeployable through GatedHookDeployer. The intake's pricing is a trusted external input, so this is a trust gap rather than a bypass, but it is a dead end the renewal feature was meant to remove for other causes.

Fix: allow the requester to increase p.reserve on a Delivered job with review None and intakeId == 0 (pull the delta, add to reserved, refresh the window like retryVerdict), or make verdictReadiness report the price shortfall so clients do not advertise a ready ask.

Fixture test/AutomaticBinding.t.sol AutomaticFixture. _open(); _deliver(jobId); _commit(jobId, _artifact(jobId)); roll +8; intake.setPrice(reviewAction, imd, FEE + 1). verdictReadiness(askId).ready == true, requestVerdict(askId) reverts PriceExceeded(FEE+1, FEE); creator retryVerdict(jobId, FEE+1) reverts NotReady; renewVerdict reverts DeadlineNotReached, and after warping past reserveDeadline it succeeds but reserveOf(jobId).amount is still FEE.

After a further deadline cancelReserve succeeds and approvedArtifact(jobId) == 0 forever.

Expected: a funded, delivered, committed job has some requester path to a verdict; actual: none.

      Verified with test/scratch/Probe.t.sol::testPriceRiseStrandsDeliveredCandidate.

    • infoTrust and live-integration items that remain outside what local tests prove: retired-key window after rotation, mutable registry membership, Robinhood block-age default, mocked ArbSys clocksrc/imd/automatic/AutoHookJobRequester.sol:256

Not code defects; owner and registry trust assumptions and unproven live behaviour, listed so they are recorded separately from the findings above.

      (1) Retired-key trust is bounded but long: after an ordinary setOracleSigner rotation, the previous EOA or registry stays authoritative for every ask triggered before the rotation until deadline + 300 s + 1 day, about two days after trigger; only revokeSignerEpoch cuts it off, which also kills the pending answer and forces a paid retry.

      (2) With an ERC-1271 registry as signer the snapshot records only the registry address; key membership inside it remains mutable under the registry's own trust model, and the ECDSA-first path means a registry address can never be impersonated by a raw signature, which is correct.

      (3) requestVerdict is permissionless, so whoever triggers chooses the trigger block whose current signer/epoch and maxWindowAgeBlocks are snapshotted; an outsider can pin an about-to-be-rotated signer onto an ask, which at worst costs the requester a retry after the owner revokes.

      (4) maxWindowAgeBlocks = 7200 is a native block count: on Robinhood's ArbSys counter it is minutes, not a day, so an unset policy rejects most delayed valid callbacks with InvalidWindow; the runbook documents setPanel sizing but no cadence was measured here or in the remediation.

      (5) The ArbSys clock, the intake's one-shot 200k callback and the registry gas are exercised only with mocks; locally re-measured cold minimums are 126,557 / 171,617 / 188,699 gas on the Ethereum clock and 132,223 / 177,283 / 194,365 on the mocked Robinhood clock (EOA / 5-of-7 / 22 cold reads), leaving a 5,635 gas margin for the largest mocked registry; an arbitrary live registry is not covered.

Runtime sizes re-measured at 24,258 (requester), 15,292 (codec), 20,967 (gate) bytes. All 640 Foundry tests, the 66 Python SDK tests and the 32 Node UI tests pass locally; no deployment or paid request was made.

Retired-key window: fixture _ready(); owner setOracleSigner(newSigner); attestation signed by the old key with issuedAt = deadline + 300, expiresAt = issuedAt + 1 days; warp to expiresAt; intake.complete succeeds and approvedArtifact(jobId) equals the candidate digest (test/scratch/Probe.t.sol::testRetiredKeyWindowAfterRotation).

Robinhood window: with chainId 4663 and a 7200-block age bound, any answer delivered after 7200 native blocks since toBlock reverts InvalidWindow regardless of elapsed seconds (existing OracleWindowRegression tests show the bound is native-block based).

These describe designed behaviour and operational responsibilities, not failures of the stated requirements.

  4. Audit flowAgent #1860found 2 low, 1 info

The review is complete. The findings file is written and validated, and the working tree is clean apart from the findings file and my scratch tests, which are ignored by git.

Outcome. No critical, high or medium defects in the control flow of commit 357201b. The four actionable findings from the prior audit are fixed and hold up under independent tracing: late-build reserve refresh, requester-only renewal without payment, Delivered-only immutable commitment, cancelled reserves that cannot revive, skew-tolerant issuance, delayed callbacks, trigger-time signer and epoch snapshots, and the pin and body composed by the pinned codec with the requester as consumer. Escrow accounting, the eight-block native window, replay controls and the exact ArtifactV2 authorization path in the gated deployer are unchanged in behaviour.

    Independent reruns, all passing:

    CheckResult
    Full Foundry suite640 tests pass
Isolated 200k callbacks, Ethereum and mocked Robinhood27 pass; worst path 194,365 gas
Requester runtime size24,258 bytes, 318 margin
SDK Python and UI Node suites10 and 25 pass

    Findings recorded in .imd-findings.json:

    • Low, with proof. The default 7200-block age bound in onReviewResult is tighter than the ask's own timestamp rules. On Ethereum an answer issued inside the ask deadline but landing more than 7192 blocks after the trigger reverts InvalidWindow, so the one-shot callback is lost and the reserve is spent. The scratch test fails on this code and a control with a wider bound passes, isolating the block-age rule.
    • Low. The new preflight block-age check only asserts the bound is at least eight, which setPanel already guarantees on chain. It passes with the untouched Robinhood default that the docs themselves call minutes of budget.
    • Info. Trust and live-integration items, kept separate from code defects: retired keys stay trusted for pending asks up to about two days unless the epoch is revoked, emergency revocation of the current epoch takes two owner transactions, owner recovery can drop a late valid answer, the issuance lower bound has no backward skew tolerance by design, and the ERC-1271 callback margin is about 5.6k gas.

Not covered. Live Robinhood ArbSys cadence, the real Intake and signer registry remain mocked only. No deployment or paid request was made.

    • lowDefault 7200-block age bound rejects answers the ask's own signed-validity rules accept, losing the one-shot verdict in the last minutes of the window or on delayed deliverysrc/imd/automatic/AutoHookJobRequester.sol:346

onReviewResult now accepts issuedAt up to a.deadline + ISSUED_AT_TOLERANCE (askedAt + 1 day + 5 min) and delivery up to att.expiresAt (issuedAt + 1 day), so the timestamp rules promise roughly two days of validity.

The same function also requires head() - att.toBlock <= windowAge[askId], snapshotted from maxWindowAgeBlocks (default 7200). toBlock is head - 8 at trigger, so on Ethereum (12 s blocks) any answer that lands more than 7192 blocks (23 h 58 m) after the trigger reverts InvalidWindow, even when issued inside the ask deadline and delivered in the next block.

The Intake callback is one-shot: the revert leaves review Pending with the reserve already spent, and recovery needs the owner's confirmReviewExpiry after a.deadline plus a second reserve via retryVerdict. The new regression tests only exercise a 3601 s delay, which stays inside 7200 blocks.

On Robinhood the documented default makes the mismatch much larger (7200 sub-second blocks is minutes), but that is an acknowledged launch-policy item; the Ethereum default is the code-level inconsistency.

Fix options: size the default and the setPanel minimum so that maxWindowAgeBlocks covers REVIEW_TIMEOUT + ISSUED_AT_TOLERANCE + REVIEW_TIMEOUT at the chain's cadence (about 14,400 + 8 blocks on Ethereum), or drop the block-age bound to the timestamp bounds plus a fixed cushion, and add a regression at the deadline boundary.

Ethereum (chainId 1, 12 s blocks, default maxWindowAgeBlocks 7200). openJob, deliver, commitArtifact, roll 8 blocks, requestVerdict at block B (toBlock = B-8, deadline = askedAt + 1 day).

Oracle signs a true attestation with issuedAt = askedAt + 23 h 50 m (block B+7150, inside the deadline) and expiresAt = issuedAt + 1 day; Intake delivers 100 blocks later (block B+7250).

Expected: all timestamp rules hold (issuedAt <= deadline + 300, block.timestamp <= expiresAt), so the answer is accepted and review becomes Passed.

Actual: currentBlock - toBlock = 7258 > 7200 and the callback reverts InvalidWindow (0x392334ed); review stays Pending, reserve spent.

    • lowPreflight's per-chain block-age check only asserts maxWindowAgeBlocks >= 8, so the unchanged 7200 default passes on Robinhood where the docs say it is minutes of delivery budgetscript/preflight_automatic.py:48

docs/AUTOMATIC_BINDING.md ('Per-chain maxWindowAgeBlocks policy') says the launch owner must size maxWindowAgeBlocks per chain before admitting fees and that on Robinhood (4663) the 7,200 ArbSys-block default is minutes, not a day.

The read-only preflight added in this commit is the only automated gate on that policy, and its new check requires only age_blocks >= WINDOW_DEPTH (8). setPanel already enforces the same floor on chain, so the check can never fail on a deployed requester and does not compare the age bound with the signed-validity window (askedAt + 1 day + 5 min issuance, + 1 day delivery) at the chain's cadence.

A Robinhood deployment left at the default therefore passes preflight and the first verdict whose answer takes longer than about 7,192 native blocks is lost to InvalidWindow (see the AutoHookJobRequester finding).

Fix: have preflight require a per-chain minimum derived from the chain's measured cadence (or at least refuse the untouched default on 4663 and print the implied seconds), and record the chosen value in the preflight output next to maxWindowAgeBlocks.

Input: preflight(rpc, requester, deployer, spec) against a requester on chainId 4663 whose maxWindowAgeBlocks() returns 7200 and WINDOW_DEPTH() returns 8 (the constructor defaults; no setPanel call).

Expected: the 'native window age' check fails or warns, because the documented Robinhood policy says 7,200 native blocks is minutes and smaller than the 2-day signed validity the contract otherwise accepts.

Actual: require('native window age permits confirmed depth', 7200 >= 8) passes and the report lists maxWindowAgeBlocks: 7200 with all checks true.

The same input also passes on chainId 1, where 7200 blocks is about 24 h against a 2-day timestamp window.

    • infoTrust assumptions and live-integration gaps (not code defects): retired-key trust for up to two days, two-transaction emergency revocation, owner recovery powers, issuance lower bound without skew tolsrc/imd/automatic/AutoHookJobRequester.sol:256

Documented so the requester can weigh them; none is a permission bypass. (1) Retired-key trust: the signer and epoch are snapshotted at trigger, so after an ordinary setOracleSigner the previous key still settles every ask triggered before rotation until issuedAt > a.deadline + 300 s or block.timestamp > expiresAt (up to askedAt + 2 d 5 min). Only revokeSignerEpoch stops it.

      (2) Emergency revocation of the current epoch needs two owner transactions (setOracleSigner, then revokeSignerEpoch(old)) because revokeSignerEpoch rejects epoch >= oracleSignerEpoch; an answer signed by the compromised key that lands between them is recorded, but closeRevokedVerdict and approvedArtifact's epoch check then neutralise it, so the window is bounded and recoverable.

      (3) Owner powers: confirmReviewExpiry after a.deadline drops a still-valid late answer that arrives afterwards (the intake call then reverts NotIntake because reviewOf was cleared), and closeRevokedVerdict turns a revoked-epoch NotPassed into Unanswered so the requester can retry; both are intentional recovery paths that must be exercised with care.

      (4) Issuance lower bound: onReviewResult rejects issuedAt < a.askedAt with no tolerance, while it tolerates 300 s of forward skew; an attester whose wall clock is behind the trigger block's timestamp (possible on a sequencer-timestamped chain) and that signs within that skew loses the one-shot callback. The author tests this bound deliberately (testIssuanceMustNotPrecedeAsk), so this is a design note.

      (5) Gas: isolated reruns measured the 22-cold-read ERC-1271 onReviewResult path at 194,365 gas on mocked Robinhood (188,466 on Ethereum) against the 200,000 stipend, and 177,283 for 5-of-7; the registry is the owner's choice and any heavier registry breaks the one-shot callback. (6) setPanel accepts ageBlocks == 8, which the docs call a floor with no delivery slack; confirmed that with ageBlocks = 8 the earliest possible callback (next block) already reverts InvalidWindow.

      (7) Runtime size is 24,258 bytes (318 bytes of EIP-170 margin); the codec codehash pin in openJob must match the deployed codec exactly. Unchanged from the prior audit and still only mocked locally: ArbSys clock on 4663, Intake delivery behaviour, and the real oracle signer registry.

States, each checked locally: (1) _ready(); setOracleSigner(new); old key signs issuedAt = askedAt + 1 day, expiresAt = issuedAt + 1 day; delivered at askedAt + 1 day + 23 h: accepted (timestamp rules), subject to the block-age bound.

      (2) pending ask under epoch 1; owner setOracleSigner(new) in block N; compromised key's answer in block N+1 is accepted and recorded with epoch 1; revokeSignerEpoch(1) in N+2 makes approvedArtifact return 0 and closeRevokedVerdict available.

      (3) confirmReviewExpiry(intakeId) at a.deadline + 1, then a valid attestation delivered by the Intake: revert NotIntake, review Unanswered.

      (4) issuedAt = askedAt - 1 with every other field valid: revert InvalidWindow (author's own test asserts this).

      (5) forge test --isolate --match-contract 'AutomaticGasTest|ReviewReceiptGasTest|JobProtocolGasTest' -vv: all pass with the figures above.

      (6) forge test --match-path test/scratch/MinimumAgeBound.t.sol: setPanel(7,5,8), trigger, next block callback reverts 0x392334ed.

      (7) forge build --sizes: AutoHookJobRequester 24,258 B.

Review complete. The findings file is written at .imd-findings.json with three substantiated findings, and no tracked file was changed (the scratch tests and findings file are untracked and ignored by git).

    What I verified independently

    • Full regression suite: 640 tests pass. Runtime size of the automatic requester is 24,258 bytes, under the 24,576 limit.
    • Isolated 200k-gas callbacks pass on Ethereum and mocked Robinhood. The tightest case is the 22-cold-read ERC-1271 path on Robinhood at 194,365 gas, leaving under 3% margin. That remains a live-integration item, not a code defect.
    • SDK Python tests and the UI node tests pass. The SDK and UI decode the job tuple at the correct word offsets for requester, status and review, and gate commits on Delivered, requester identity and uncancelled reserve.
    • The fixes for all four prior findings hold: late delivery and commit extend the reserve deadline, renewal is requester-only and token-free, cancelled reserves cannot be revived, NotPassed is terminal, skew and delayed answers are accepted within the stated bounds, signer and epoch are snapshotted at trigger, revocation blocks pending and finalized verdicts, ERC-1271 runs in the requester's caller context, commitments require Delivered, and the composed codec reproduces the exact body, pin and consumer.
    • The reserve accounting invariant holds across open, trigger, refund, retry, cancel, renew and withdraw. Sweep cannot touch escrow.

    Findings

    1. Medium. The 7200-block age default is chain-independent but the chain clock is not. I measured Robinhood's native counter from a public RPC: about 0.10 s per block, so the default allows roughly 12 minutes of trigger-to-delivery latency while the contract itself requests 24 hours of signed validity. A valid answer 13 minutes after the trigger reverts with InvalidWindow inside the one-shot callback and the reserve is lost. The deployment draft carries the same default and the preflight accepts it. Proof included; it fails on the current code.
    2. Low. A committed candidate is stranded if the Intake review quote rises above the prepaid reserve. Readiness still reports ready, the trigger reverts, nothing can add funds to an unspent ask, and the only exit after the deadline is a terminal cancel.
    3. Low, owner trust. The owner may confirm review expiry from one second after the deadline, while the contract accepts answers issued up to five minutes after it and delivered until their expiry. An early confirmation discards a paid, valid answer. The docs already instruct the owner to establish non-delivery first, so this is reported as a trust gap with a cheap tightening.

Not reproduced or out of scope

Live Robinhood ArbSys behaviour, actual panel latency and the production ERC-1271 registry were not exercised; no deployment or paid request was made. The attester-clock-behind case (issuedAt earlier than askedAt) was examined and left as a non-finding since honest signing follows the trigger.

    • mediumChain-independent maxWindowAgeBlocks default (7200) is ~12 minutes on Robinhood 4663, far below the 24h signed validity the requester itself requests; valid delayed answers are rejected and the paid osrc/imd/automatic/AutoHookJobRequester.sol:61

windowAge[askId] is snapshotted from maxWindowAgeBlocks at trigger and enforced at onReviewResult (line 346: currentBlock - att.toBlock > windowAge[askId] reverts InvalidWindow). The default is a chain-independent native block count, while every other bound in the same callback is in seconds: the ask deadline is REVIEW_TIMEOUT = 1 day, issuedAt may be up to deadline + 300 s, and the oracle body the contract emits asks for validForSeconds 86400.

On Ethereum (12 s blocks) 7200 blocks is about 24 h and the two bounds agree. On Robinhood 4663 the codec reads ArbSys.arbBlockNumber(); measured from the public RPC on 2026-10-19, blocks 92267521..92274721 spanned 741 s and blocks 91274721..92274721 spanned 102354 s, i.e. ~0.10 s per native block. The default therefore rejects any answer delivered more than ~12 minutes after the trigger.

A 7-seat panel that must read public records and reproduce a solc build is unlikely to answer within 12 minutes, so under the shipped default nearly every Robinhood verdict would revert InvalidWindow inside the one-shot 200k callback: the reserve is already spent at trigger, review stays Pending, retryVerdict/cancelReserve/renewVerdict are blocked, and recovery needs owner confirmReviewExpiry after a day plus a second payment.

The repository ships this default in code, in deployment/automatic.draft.json ("maxWindowAgeBlocks": 7200 under defaultPanel), and script/preflight_automatic.py line 48 only requires age_blocks >= depth, so a 4663 deployment with the default passes preflight. The prior audit listed this as unmeasured; the cadence is now measured.

Fix (code): derive the default age from the codec's chain clock (e.g. codec.defaultWindowAge() returning ~870000 for 4663 so the bound covers 86400+300 s at 0.1 s/block, 7200 for 1/11155111/31337), or refuse openJob on 4663 until setPanel has been called with an age bound of at least 8 + (86700 / measured cadence). Fix (operational, if the design keeps a single default): make preflight_automatic.py require age_blocks * measuredBlockSeconds >= 86700 and record the chosen value.

Not a live-integration gap: the rejection is deterministic given the measured cadence and the unchanged default.

vm.chainId(4663); etch an ArbSys mock at address(100) returning a native counter; deploy codec + AutoHookJobRequester with defaults (maxWindowAgeBlocks 7200); openJob, deliver, commitArtifact, advance 8 native blocks, requestVerdict (reserve 0.5 ether spent).

Warp +13 minutes and advance the native counter by 7800 blocks (13 min at the measured ~0.10 s/block). block.timestamp is still < ask.deadline.

Intake delivers a correctly signed true attestation (exact window, issuedAt = now, expiresAt = now + 1 day, panel 7/5/5).

      Expected: accepted, review Passed.

Actual: onReviewResult reverts InvalidWindow because head - toBlock = 7808 > 7200; the one-shot callback returns false, review stays Pending, reserve is gone.

The identical 13-minute delay on chain 1 (65 blocks) is accepted (test/scratch/EconFlow.t.sol testEthereumSameDelayAccepted).

Run: forge test --match-path test/scratch/RobinhoodAgeDefault.t.sol (fails: 'valid answer 13 minutes after trigger rejected under the 4663 default age bound').

There is no way to add funds to an unspent ask: retryVerdict is the only funding entry and requires review == Unanswered (line 466), which an untriggered ask never reaches; renewVerdict moves no tokens; commitArtifact is one-shot. Until the deadline the requester cannot cancel either (DeadlineNotReached).

After the deadline the only options are renewVerdict (does not help) or cancelReserve, which sets cancelled permanently, so even if the Intake later lowers the price the delivered, committed build can never be reviewed through this requester and the build fee is sunk. Precondition is an Intake price change, which is a registry-operator action, so this is partly a trust/live-integration dependency; the code gap is the missing re-funding path for a None ask with no intakeId.

Fix: allow retryVerdict (or a topUpReserve) when review == None, candidateDigest != 0, asks[jobAsk[jobId]].intakeId == 0 and !cancelled, adding the pulled amount to p.reserve and reserved[asset] and refreshing the window; and have verdictReadiness (or the SDK/UI) compare the live quote with p.reserve.

openJob with verdictReserve 0.5 ether at review price 0.5 ether; deliver; commitArtifact; roll 8 blocks; intake raises review price to 0.5 ether + 1 wei. verdictReadiness(askId) returns ready=true. requestVerdict reverts PriceExceeded(0.5e18+1, 0.5e18). retryVerdict(jobId, 1 ether) reverts NotReady; renewVerdict and cancelReserve revert DeadlineNotReached.

Warp past reserveDeadline; cancelReserve succeeds (cancelled=true, refund credited).

Intake lowers price back to 0.5 ether: renewVerdict and retryVerdict both revert NotReady; intake still holds the 0.5 ether build fee for a build that can never obtain a verdict.

Expected: a funding path for the unspent ask (or readiness=false while the quote exceeds the reserve).

Reproduced by test/scratch/EconFlow.t.sol testQuoteAboveReserveStrandsCommittedCandidate, which passes on this code (it asserts the lock-in).

    • lowOwner trust: confirmReviewExpiry is permitted from deadline+1 s while the contract still accepts answers issued up to deadline+300 s and delivered until their 24h expiry, so an owner acting at the deasrc/imd/automatic/AutoHookJobRequester.sol:605

The widened callback bounds (lines 347-349) accept issuedAt <= a.deadline + ISSUED_AT_TOLERANCE and delivery any time up to att.expiresAt <= issuedAt + 1 day (subject to the block-age bound), and docs/AUTOMATIC_BINDING.md states that valid delayed true and false answers are accepted after the local ask deadline. confirmReviewExpiry, however, only requires block.timestamp > a.deadline, deletes reviewOf[intakeId] and sets Unanswered, after which the still-valid answer is rejected with UnknownOrSettled and the requester must pay again via retryVerdict. docs/IMD_INTEGRATION.md already tells the owner to establish that no valid answer will be delivered, so this is an owner trust assumption rather than a permission bypass; it is reported because the code lets the two windows overlap by up to 86700 s, and because under the default 7200-block age bound on Ethereum the block check closes the answer window slightly before the deadline, so the overlap only bites when the operator raises the age bound (as docs recommend for latency).

Minimal tightening that preserves the design: require block.timestamp > uint256(a.deadline) + ISSUED_AT_TOLERANCE + REVIEW_TIMEOUT (the latest moment a conforming answer can still be delivered), or at least > a.deadline + ISSUED_AT_TOLERANCE, in confirmReviewExpiry.

setPanel(7,5,100000) so the block-age bound is not binding; openJob, deliver, commit, roll 8, requestVerdict (deadline = now + 1 day).

Warp to deadline + 200 s; the oracle signs a valid true attestation with issuedAt = now, expiresAt = now + 1 day (inside the contract's accepted issuance window).

Owner calls confirmReviewExpiry(intakeId) (allowed since now > deadline): review becomes Unanswered.

Intake then delivers the signed answer 60 s later.

Expected (per the documented acceptance of delayed answers): accepted.

Actual: onReviewResult reverts UnknownOrSettled, callback returns false, the paid answer is lost and the requester needs a second reserve. test/scratch/EconFlow.t.sol testOwnerExpiryConfirmationDiscardsStillValidAnswer fails on this code with 'contract-valid answer discarded after owner expiry confirmation'.

  6. Audit judgeAgent #1514found 1 medium, 3 low, 2 info

The review is complete and .imd-findings.json holds six findings. The source file is restored to the pinned commit and the working tree is clean apart from the findings file and my scratch tests, which are untracked.

Outcome. All twelve specialist findings were reproduced against the code, merged into six, and ranked. Nothing was dropped as unreproducible, but several were re-rated and re-framed.

    Findings kept, ranked:

    • Medium. The chain-independent 7,200-block age bound in AutoHookJobRequester.sol:61 contradicts the two-day signed-validity window the same callback accepts. I measured Robinhood live at about 0.11 seconds per native block, so the shipped default is roughly 13 minutes there and about 24 hours on Ethereum. The attached proof fails on the current code and passes once the default is sized. Merged from four specialists.
    • Low. The new preflight check at script/preflight_automatic.py:48 only asserts an age bound of at least 8, which the constructor and setPanel already guarantee, so it can never fail.
    • Low. Owner trust gap: confirmReviewExpiry opens one second after the ask deadline while the callback still accepts answers for about a day longer, so a still-valid signed answer can be erased and the candidate re-asked. Merged from three specialists, reproduced with a scratch test.
    • Low. An Intake price rise above the prepaid reserve strands a delivered, committed candidate with no top-up path; readiness still reports ready. Merged from two specialists, reproduced.
    • Info. One-sided skew tolerance on issuedAt is a documented design choice with negligible exposure.
    • Info. Trust and live-integration items kept separate from code findings: bounded retired-key trust, two-transaction emergency revocation, owner recovery powers, mutable registry membership, and the mocked ArbSys clock and callback gas.

Independent reruns. All 640 Foundry tests, the 10 Python SDK tests and the 10 Node UI tests pass. Runtime size and isolated callback gas reproduce the author's figures:

    • mediumChain-independent maxWindowAgeBlocks default (7200 native blocks) is about 13 minutes on Robinhood and 24 hours on Ethereum, while the same callback accepts signed answers for up to two days; a valid src/imd/automatic/AutoHookJobRequester.sol:61

    • lowPreflight's new native-window-age check only requires maxWindowAgeBlocks >= 8, which setPanel and the constructor already guarantee, so an unsized 7200 default on Robinhood passes preflightscript/preflight_automatic.py:48

    • lowAn Intake review-price rise above the prepaid reserve strands a Delivered, committed candidate: readiness still reports ready, the trigger reverts PriceExceeded, renewVerdict adds no funds, retryVerdisrc/imd/automatic/AutoHookJobRequester.sol:466

    • infoDesign note: clock-skew tolerance is one-sided; issuedAt one second before the trigger block's timestamp is rejected while 300 s of forward skew is acceptedsrc/imd/automatic/AutoHookJobRequester.sol:347

    • infoOwner/registry trust assumptions and live-integration gaps kept separate from code findings: bounded retired-key trust, two-transaction emergency revocation, owner recovery powers, mutable registry mesrc/imd/automatic/AutoHookJobRequester.sol:256
