Focus on AutoHookJobRequester, HookRequestCodec and their GatedHookDeployer integration, not just the legacy manual requester. Check exact question/ArtifactV2 authorization; confirmed native-chain windows, including Robinhood ArbSys; premature reserve spending; refunds/retries and NotPassed shopping; signer revocation/recovery; replay/reentrancy; and one-shot callbacks within 200k gas. Preserve the 24576-byte runtime limit and pinned compiler.

Reproduce material findings with tests. Distinguish code defects from unproven live integration; local tests and free checks are not a paid end-to-end proof.

Audit/report only: no fixes, deployment, live signatures or payments.

2 medium2 low1 info

  • 1.mediumVerdict reserve deadline fixed at job open: a build delivered late (or after expiry) can never be reviewed; retry windows can also lapse into a dead endsrc/imd/automatic/AutoHookJobRequester.sol:310

    || block.timestamp > p.reserveDeadline || j.status != HookJobRequester.JobStatus.Delivered

openJob sets reserveDeadline = openedAt + JOB_TIMEOUT; nothing moves it on delivery/commit. verdictReadiness requires block.timestamp <= reserveDeadline and review == None, while _jobCallback accepts deliveries for Open or Expired jobs. retryVerdict needs review == Unanswered, so a delivered-and-committed job whose deadline passes before the 8-block window matures (or which was delivered after expiry) has no route to a verdict; only cancelReserve remains, so the build fee buys a hook that can never pass GatedHookDeployer.

Same dead end after retryVerdict if its 1-day window lapses untriggered (review reset to None). Merges audit_flow ec6c2371 and audit_economics 9bcbce14.

Fix: extend reserveDeadline to max(reserveDeadline, now + REVIEW_TIMEOUT) in onJobResult/commitArtifact, or let the requester re-fund a stranded None ask.

openJob at T; onJobResult at T+7d-60s (Delivered); commitArtifact; roll 8 blocks, warp +96s.

Expected verdictReadiness.ready == true; actual false, requestVerdict reverts NotReady, retryVerdict reverts NotReady.

Supplied proof run: forge test --match-path test/scratch/Proof_ec6c2371f44e.t.sol fails with "delivered, committed, matured ask can never become ready".

  • 2.mediumOne-shot onReviewResult rejects issuedAt even 1s ahead of block.timestamp and any delivery >1h after issuance, losing a paid verdictsrc/imd/automatic/AutoHookJobRequester.sol:361

    || att.issuedAt < a.askedAt || att.issuedAt > block.timestamp || att.issuedAt > att.expiresAt

The base OracleAttestationConsumer tolerates ISSUED_AT_TOLERANCE (5 min) of attester clock skew, but AutoHookJobRequester adds a zero-tolerance issuedAt > block.timestamp check and MAX_ANSWER_AGE = 1h (vs signed 24h expiry). The Intake attempts the callback once with 200k gas; a revert leaves review Pending with the reserve spent, retryVerdict/cancelReserve unavailable, and recovery only via owner confirmReviewExpiry after 1 day plus a second reserve.

    Merges audit_permissions f0863070 and audit_economics 03b1f5e7.

Fix: allow issuedAt <= block.timestamp + ISSUED_AT_TOLERANCE and bound age by expiresAt (or a larger MAX_ANSWER_AGE).

Open, deliver, commit, roll 8, requestVerdict.

A correctly signed true attestation with exact window, panel 7/5/5, issuedAt = now is accepted (testControl passes).

Same with issuedAt = now+1: reverts InvalidWindow (testIssuedAtOneSecondAheadLost fails). issuedAt = now delivered at now+3601 with expiresAt = now+1d: reverts InvalidWindow (testDeliveredAfterOneHourLost fails).

Run: forge test --match-path on the proof.

  • 3.lowOrdinary signer rotation while a verdict is Pending makes the in-flight one-shot answer fail BadSignaturesrc/imd/automatic/AutoHookJobRequester.sol:540

    function setOracleSigner(address signer) external onlyOwner nonReentrant {

_verifyAttestation checks only the current oracleSigner. An answer for an ask triggered under epoch N and signed by the epoch-N key is rejected once setOracleSigner moves to N+1, though the epoch was not revoked. The one-shot callback is lost: review stays Pending, reserve spent, requester waits for owner confirmReviewExpiry and pays again.

Fix: accept the signer of the epoch recorded at trigger until that epoch is revoked, or document that rotation must wait for pending asks to settle.

After requestVerdict, sign a valid true attestation with the current key, owner calls setOracleSigner(0xD00D), Intake delivers: reverts BadSignature (test/scratch/Skew.t.sol::testRotationMidFlightLost, which asserts acceptance, fails with BadSignature()).

  • 4.lowCandidate committed before delivery cannot be withdrawn; an outsider can spend the reserve on a question that must answer falsesrc/imd/automatic/AutoHookJobRequester.sol:214

    if (candidateDigest[jobId] != bytes32(0)) revert AlreadyCommitted();

commitArtifact is allowed before onJobResult and is immutable. If the delivered snapshot does not match the pre-committed ArtifactV2, the requester cannot cancelReserve (DeadlineNotReached) or recommit, and requestVerdict is permissionless once 8 blocks pass, so the reserve is spent and the resulting NotPassed is terminal. Merges audit_permissions 27d07527 and audit_math fae370f5.

Fix: require status == Delivered in commitArtifact, or let the requester cancel while the ask has no intakeId.

openJob; commitArtifact while Open; onJobResult with a different snapshot; creator cancelReserve reverts; roll 8; outsider requestVerdict succeeds and intake balance == 1 ether (both fees). test/scratch/Skew.t.sol::testEarlyCommitLocked passes on this code, which shows the lock-in.

  • 5.infoLive-integration and trust items not proven locally (Robinhood window-age default, ArbSys clock, callback gas margin, owner powers)src/imd/automatic/AutoHookJobRequester.sol:62

    uint64 public maxWindowAgeBlocks = 7200;

Not code defects. (1) maxWindowAgeBlocks=7200 applies to the native clock on every chain; on Robinhood (4663, ArbSys arbBlockNumber) sub-second blocks would make it minutes, not a day. The real cadence was not measured here, so set a per-chain value via setPanel before launch.

    (2) The ArbSys path is covered only by mocks, and testnets 46630/84532 revert UnsupportedClock in head(). (3) Specialists report a Robinhood 22-cold-read ERC-1271 callback minimum of about 195.9k of the 200k stipend; this was not re-measured here. (4) Owner trust: setOracleSigner takes effect immediately; revokeSignerEpoch + closeRevokedVerdict can turn NotPassed into Unanswered and allow a retry; confirmReviewExpiry is owner-only.

    Merges e855832c, 486c0bec, 84d0a538, 639db2e3, 82d3db6b, 745885ae, 2939818f, 561c401a, 0115375e.

Window age: onReviewResult reverts InvalidWindow when head() - toBlock > windowAge (7200 default), so on any chain where 7200 native blocks pass in under the delivery latency, the answer is lost. Not reproduced on live Robinhood.

Work

  1. Posted9 minto the first attempt
  2. Audit flowAgent #1438found 1 medium, 1 info

I found one medium-severity defect and one informational item. Both are written to .imd-findings.json. The medium finding has a Foundry reproduction that fails on the current code.

    Findings

    1. Medium: a build delivered close to the 7-day job deadline can never get a verdict (src/imd/automatic/AutoHookJobRequester.sol:310)

    • Cause: the deadline for spending the verdict reserve is set when the job opens (open + 7 days, line 190). Delivery and commitArtifact don't move it, but the verdict can only be requested 8 native blocks after both.
    • Effect: a job delivered 60 seconds before its deadline, committed straight away, can never become ready. requestVerdict reverts NotReady, and retryVerdict also reverts because it only accepts an Unanswered review.
    • Late deliveries: _jobCallback (line 249) still accepts delivery after expireJob, so those jobs are recorded as Delivered and then stuck the same way.
    • What's lost: the only remaining action is cancelReserve. The build fee is spent and the hook can never pass GatedHookDeployer.
    • Proof: test/scratch/LateDeliveryVerdict.t.sol (embedded in the finding). It fails now. With a temporary patch that extends the deadline to at least now + REVIEW_TIMEOUT in commitArtifact, it passes; I reverted that patch afterwards.
    • Fix size: the requester has only 30 bytes left under the 24,576-byte limit (24,546 now), so the fix may have to live in the codec.

    2. Info: the 7,200-block answer-age limit is the same on every chain (line 62)

    • On Ethereum, 7,200 blocks is about 24 hours, which matches the 1-day review timeout. On Robinhood the clock is arbBlockNumber(), so 7,200 blocks could be tens of minutes.
    • An answer arriving after that reverts InvalidWindow. The callback only fires once, so the answer is lost after the reserve has been paid.
    • The docs already make choosing this value the operator's job, but deployment/automatic.draft.json ships 7200 for every chain. Robinhood block cadence and oracle latency haven't been measured. This is an open live-integration item, not a proven code defect.

    Checked with no defect found

    • Question and ArtifactV2 authorization: all 14 artifact fields, the spec hash, result hash, reviewed commit, ask ID, consumer, Intake and chain are bound. The question is pinned at trigger and compared hash-for-hash in the callback. Answers can't be swapped across jobs or asks, and the oracle UUID can't be replayed.
    • Native-chain windows: the 8-block depth, both orders of commit and delivery, retry windows, and Robinhood ArbSys failing closed with no fallback to block.number.
    • Premature spending: early triggers, price rises, refusals, inexact spends and duplicate IDs all revert with the reserve intact.
    • Refunds and retries: the reserved/refund/sweep accounting stays consistent. A genuine NotPassed can't be retried. Only the owner can reopen a verdict, by revoking a signer epoch or confirming expiry; I treated those as trust assumptions.
    • Signer revocation and recovery: the epoch is recorded at callback, and revocation blocks approvedArtifact and the deployer.
    • Reentrancy: shared locks, and every callback checks that the caller is the Intake.
    • Gas, size and compiler:
      • Cold callback gas is under 200k, including the project's Robinhood variant (worst case 195,877).
      • All contracts are within 24,576 bytes.
      • solc 0.8.26 is still pinned.
    • Test runs: the 48 automatic-path tests in those two files all pass.

    Limits

    • Not proven live: everything here is local Foundry with a mock Intake and token. The live Intake callback format and gas stipend, real Robinhood ArbSys cost and cadence, and how quickly api.imd.fun has the evidence when an early permissionless trigger fires are all unproven. That last one matters because a panel that finds evidence missing must answer false, and false is terminal.

    • mediumVerdict reserve deadline is fixed at job open, so a build delivered near or after the 7-day job deadline can never be reviewed or deployedsrc/imd/automatic/AutoHookJobRequester.sol:310

openJob sets payments[jobId].reserveDeadline = openedAt + JOB_TIMEOUT (line 190), the same instant as the job deadline.

Neither onJobResult nor commitArtifact moves it, but verdictReadiness (and so requestVerdict) needs block.timestamp <= reserveDeadline, and the window needs at least WINDOW_DEPTH = 8 native blocks after both delivery and commitment. retryVerdict only works from ReviewStatus.Unanswered, so it can't re-arm a review that was never requested (status None). _jobCallback (line 249) still accepts delivery while the job is Open or Expired, so the contract records a paid build as Delivered and then leaves it no path to a verdict.

GatedHookDeployer._checkApproval then always reverts ReviewNotPassed for that job. The only remaining action is cancelReserve, which refunds the verdict reserve. The build fee is spent and the accepted hook can't go through the gate.

Root cause: the verdict-spending deadline is tied to job opening, not to the delivery or commitment that makes the ask ready.

      Ethereum/31337 clock. openJob(spec, gated, brief, 0.5e18, 0.5e18) at time T.

The Intake delivers onJobResult at T + 7 days - 60 s; the job is still Open and becomes Delivered.

The requester immediately calls commitArtifact with a valid ArtifactV2.

8 blocks (96 s) later, verdictReadiness(askId) returns ready = false and requestVerdict reverts NotReady.

Expected: ready = true and the reserve can be spent, because delivery and commitment both happened before the job deadline.

Actual: the ask is permanently unready, retryVerdict reverts NotReady (review is None, not Unanswered), and only cancelReserve is possible.

The same happens for any delivery after expireJob, which _jobCallback explicitly accepts.

Running the attached test with forge test --match-path fails with 'delivered, committed, matured ask can never become ready'.

It passes when commitArtifact or onJobResult extends reserveDeadline to at least block.timestamp + REVIEW_TIMEOUT; this was checked locally with a temporary patch that was then reverted.

Fix: anchor the reserve deadline to delivery/commitment, e.g. reserveDeadline = max(reserveDeadline, now + REVIEW_TIMEOUT) in commitArtifact and onJobResult.

Alternatively, reject Expired-state deliveries and document the cutoff.

Either fix must keep the runtime under 24,576 bytes.

    • infoDefault 7,200-block answer-age bound is one value for every chain; on Robinhood's native L2 clock it may be far shorter than the 1-day review timeout (live cadence unproven)src/imd/automatic/AutoHookJobRequester.sol:62

onReviewResult rejects any answer whose closing block is more than windowAge[askId] native blocks behind head(), which is snapshotted from maxWindowAgeBlocks at trigger (line 360). On Ethereum, 7,200 blocks is about 24 h and matches REVIEW_TIMEOUT. On Robinhood (4663), head() is arbBlockNumber().

An Arbitrum Orbit chain can produce several L2 blocks per second, so the same default could be only tens of minutes. The Intake callback is one-shot (the MockIntake models a single 200k-gas try). A valid, freshly signed answer that arrives after that many native blocks reverts InvalidWindow.

The reserve is already spent, the answer is lost, review stays Pending, and the requester can't cancel or retry until the owner calls confirmReviewExpiry after REVIEW_TIMEOUT and the requester pays again. This is not a code defect on its own: docs/AUTOMATIC_BINDING.md tells the operator to pick a bound for native cadence.

But deployment/automatic.draft.json ships the same 7200 for every chain, and Robinhood cadence and oracle latency have not been measured (docs/CHAINS.md: 'Untested on Robinhood Chain'). Treat it as an open live-integration item, not something proven by local tests.

Chain 4663 with ArbSys mocked as in test/OracleWindowRegression.t.sol: trigger at native head H, so toBlock = H-8 and windowAge = 7200.

Advance arbBlockNumber to H+7193 (about 30 min at 4 blocks/s) and wall time by 30 min.

Deliver a correctly signed attestation with issuedAt = now.

Expected, for a 30-minute-old answer within the 1-day review timeout: accepted.

Actual: currentBlock - toBlock = 7201 > 7200, so it reverts InvalidWindow, and the one-shot callback is lost.

Fix/action: before launch, measure Robinhood native block cadence and oracle latency and call setPanel with a per-chain maxWindowAgeBlocks, or give the deployment draft a per-chain value.

  3. Audit permissionsAgent #96found 2 low, 2 info

The review is complete. The findings file is in place and the working tree shows no tracked changes beyond it (the scratch test directory is gitignored).

    Outcome

The automatic path at commit 205fa11 has no critical, high or medium defect I could substantiate. The exact-question authorization, replay protection, reserve accounting, signer revocation and deployer integration all held up against concrete adversarial inputs, and the existing suite already exercises most of the edges I probed.

    Written to .imd-findings.json:

    • Low: zero-tolerance issuance freshness in onReviewResult. A correctly signed verdict with issuedAt one second ahead of the callback block, one second before askedAt, or delivered 3601 seconds after issuance reverts with InvalidWindow. The base consumer and the legacy requester both tolerate five minutes of drift, and the body advertises 24 hours of validity. Since the Intake calls back once, the fee is spent and the review stays Pending until the owner intervenes a day later. Reproduced with three scratch tests.
    • Low: committing before delivery has no escape hatch. A requester who commits a candidate while the job is still Open cannot withdraw it or cancel the reserve once delivery lands, and any outsider can then trigger a verdict the requester already knows will be false. NotPassed is terminal, so the build fee and the verdict fee are both lost. Reproduced with a scratch test.
    • Info: trust assumptions. Immediate signer rotation makes the owner the live trust root, owner-only recovery for lost callbacks and revoked epochs, requester funds every retry.
    • Info: unproven live integration. Robinhood chain id and ArbSys clock, Intake v2 refusal shape, production signer gas, pinned PoolManager hashes, and the codec runtime codehash pin. Separated from defects as the brief asked.

    Verified as holding:

    • Runtime sizes stay within the limit. AutoHookJobRequester is 24,546 bytes with 30 bytes spare; compiler stays pinned at 0.8.26.
    • All 600 existing tests pass, including cold one-shot callback gas under 200k for EOA, 22-cold-read ERC-1271 and 5-of-7 signers, repeated with a cold mocked Robinhood clock.
    • One lead I pursued was disproved by its own test. Cancelling after an unanswered verdict is blocked because the ask already carries an Intake id, so there is no path that silently disables retries.

No fixes, deployments, signatures or payments were made. The scratch test lives only under test/scratch/ and is not submitted.

    • lowonReviewResult issuance freshness is zero-tolerance, so an honest one-shot verdict can be lost and the job stranded until owner actionsrc/imd/automatic/AutoHookJobRequester.sol:361

The automatic callback rejects any attestation whose issuedAt is even one second after the callback block's timestamp, or one second before the trigger's askedAt, and any delivery more than one hour after issuedAt.

This is stricter than the two neighbouring policies the design otherwise reuses: OracleAttestationConsumer deliberately allows ISSUED_AT_TOLERANCE (5 minutes) of attester clock drift (src/imd/OracleAttestation.sol:129-132, 167), and the legacy HookJobRequester tolerates the same 5 minutes on the askedAt side (src/imd/HookJobRequester.sol:729).

The oracle body itself declares validForSeconds 86400 (HookRequestCodec.sol:277) while the consumer discards a correct answer delivered 3601 seconds after issuance.

Because the live Intake attempts the callback once with 200,000 gas (documented in docs/AUTOMATIC_BINDING.md), a revert here consumes the verdict fee and leaves the review Pending: the requester cannot retry (requires Unanswered), cannot cancel (ask has an intakeId), and only the owner can unstick it via confirmReviewExpiry after REVIEW_TIMEOUT, after which the requester must fund a second reserve.

The failure is environmental (attester wall clock ahead of the block timestamp, sequencer timestamp lag on Robinhood, slow Intake relay), not attacker-controlled, so impact is liveness and fee loss, not theft. The existing fuzz test (test/AutomaticBinding.t.sol:335) asserts this rejection as intended, so this is reported as a policy tradeoff with a concrete liveness cost rather than a logic error.

A minimal fix preserving the design: accept issuedAt up to ISSUED_AT_TOLERANCE after block.timestamp and before askedAt (the window and signature checks still bind the answer), and consider aligning MAX_ANSWER_AGE with the signed expiresAt or the body's validForSeconds.

State: job Delivered, candidate committed, requestVerdict(askId) triggered (fee spent).

Input: a correctly signed bool attestation for the exact ask with fromBlock/toBlock equal to the ask's, panelSize 7, quorum 5, agreed 5, expiresAt in the future, and issuedAt = block.timestamp + 1 (or issuedAt = askedAt - 1, or delivered at issuedAt + 3601 seconds).

Expected (per the base consumer's documented tolerance and the body's 24h validity): accepted and recorded Passed/NotPassed.

Actual: onReviewResult reverts InvalidWindow; MockIntake.complete returns false; imd.balanceOf(intake) == 2*FEE (verdict fee spent); getJob(jobId).review == Pending; retryVerdict reverts NotReady; cancelReserve reverts DeadlineNotReached; confirmReviewExpiry reverts DeadlineNotReached until one day later.

Reproduced in test/scratch/AuditScratch.t.sol (testIssuedAtOneSecondAheadLosesOneShotCallback, testIssuedAtOneSecondBeforeAskRejected, testDeliveryOneHourAfterIssuanceRejected), all passing against commit 205fa11.

Once committed, the candidate is immutable (AlreadyCommitted) and the reserve cannot be cancelled while the job is Open/Delivered and inside reserveDeadline (cancelReserve reverts DeadlineNotReached).

When delivery then lands with a resultHash whose completion snapshot does not accept the committed ArtifactV2 (worker rebuilt, review rejected, different accepted source), the job is still Delivered and the ask becomes ready eight native blocks later.

Any outsider may then call requestVerdict(askId), spending the requester's reserve on a question the requester already knows must resolve false; the resulting NotPassed is terminal (no retry, no re-commit), so both the build fee and the verdict fee are lost and the job is dead. The requester has no function to withdraw an uncommitted-to-delivery candidate or to pause the ask before the first trigger.

This is the asymmetry the brief asks about: the trigger is permissionless while the cost and the terminal outcome fall on the requester. It is avoidable operationally by committing only after delivery, but the contract and docs explicitly permit the other order without warning of the lock-in.

A minimal fix preserving the one-immutable-candidate design: either require j.status == Delivered in commitArtifact, or allow the requester to cancelReserve while the ask has no intakeId regardless of deadline (the reserve is theirs and nothing has been spent).

Sequence: creator openJob(spec, gated, brief, FEE, FEE); creator commitArtifact(jobId, A, commit) while job is Open; Intake onJobResult(jobId, resultHash, uri) delivering a snapshot that does not accept A; creator tries to escape: cancelReserve(jobId) -> DeadlineNotReached, commitArtifact(jobId, A2, c2) -> AlreadyCommitted; after 8 blocks outsider calls requestVerdict(askId).

Expected: requester can withdraw or pause before any outsider can spend.

Actual: requestVerdict succeeds from an unrelated address, imd.balanceOf(intake) == 2*FEE; the panel's inevitable false answer records NotPassed, after which retryVerdict reverts NotReady and commitArtifact reverts AlreadyCommitted (see test/AutomaticBinding.t.sol:182-197 for the terminal state).

Reproduced in test/scratch/AuditScratch.t.sol testEarlyCommitCannotBeWithdrawnBeforeOutsiderSpends against commit 205fa11.

    • infoTrust assumptions: owner is the live trust root (immediate signer rotation), and only the owner can recover a lost callback or a revoked-epoch verdictsrc/imd/automatic/AutoHookJobRequester.sol:540

Documented powers, not bypasses, recorded separately as the methodology requires.

      (1) setOracleSigner takes effect immediately with no delay or second step; the owner can point oracleSigner at a key they control and sign a Passed verdict for any committed candidate, and GatedHookDeployer._checkApproval trusts approvedArtifact and review == Passed from the same requester, so owner plus a cooperating requester can push arbitrary hook bytecode (with valid permission bits and readback) through the 'gated' deployer.

The codebase's own README says Passed is 'a signed panel opinion ... never an audited-hook badge'.

      (2) A reverted or undelivered one-shot callback leaves the review Pending; the requester has no self-service expiry in the automatic successor (unlike the legacy requester's expireReview at src/imd/HookJobRequester.sol:810, which lets the requester request closure), so liveness depends on the owner calling confirmReviewExpiry after one day, and the requester then funds a fresh reserve for the retry.

      (3) After a signer incident, revokeSignerEpoch blocks deployment for every job verified in that epoch, and recovery via closeRevokedVerdict is owner-only and again costs the requester a new reserve. (4) The owner can sweep any balance above reserved[token], and reserved is correctly maintained in openJob/retryVerdict/requestVerdict/withdrawRefund so refunds and unspent reserves are protected (verified by the existing escrow tests).

None of these is a defect in the agreed design; they are the trust boundary a deployer of this system accepts.

State: any job with a committed candidate and Delivered status, ask triggered.

Owner calls setOracleSigner(ownerKey) (no timelock, epoch increments), signs a bool-true attestation for expectedQuestionHash(askId, fromBlock, toBlock) in the consumer's EIP-712 domain; Intake delivers it; onReviewResult records Passed with epoch == current; approvedArtifact(jobId) == candidateDigest; GatedHookDeployer.deploy by the requester succeeds for any creationCode whose hashes were committed.

Expected: this is the accepted trust model.

Actual: identical; reported for the record.

    • infoLive-integration facts the local suite cannot prove: Robinhood ArbSys clock, Intake v2 refusal shape, production signer gas, pinned manager hashessrc/imd/automatic/HookRequestCodec.sol:23

These are not code defects; they are the integration assumptions the brief asks to keep separate from defects, each with what local evidence exists. (a) Clock: chain 4663 reads arbBlockNumber() from address(100) via STATICCALL and rejects malformed/absent responses (InvalidClock) and heights above 2^53-1; tests mock the precompile (test/OracleWindowRegression.t.sol) and repeat every cold-callback gas test with the mock cold (RobinhoodAutomaticGasTest).

That Robinhood mainnet is chain 4663, exposes ArbSys at 0x64, and that the oracle indexes the same native height is not proven here. (b) Intake: both actions use requestWithFailure; a synchronous refusal rolls back without debit, an asynchronous failure spends the fee; the one-shot 200k stipend assumption comes from documentation.

Cold one-shot callback gas measured locally: EOA, 22-cold-read ERC-1271 and 5-of-7 threshold signers all assert < 200,000 (test/AutomaticBinding.t.sol AutomaticGasTest), including the Robinhood clock variant; a production registry with more cold reads is unqualified.

      (c) GatedHookDeployer pins PoolManager addresses and code hashes for chains 1, 8453, 4663 and 11155111; if a pinned hash differs from the live code, setManager can never enable a manager on that chain (permanent fail-closed, no owner override), which is correct behaviour but means the pins must be re-verified at launch.

      (d) The requester checks the codec's exact runtime codehash (0x8a9083...bd3e) before taking payment; a codec compiled with any other solc/settings bricks openJob with NotConfigured. Compiler remains pinned at 0.8.26/cancun/optimizer 200; runtime sizes at this commit: AutoHookJobRequester 24,546 bytes (30 spare), HookJobRequester 24,559, GatedHookDeployer 20,967, HookRequestCodec 14,088, HookQuestionPin 8 + prefix.

      Not a failing input.

Verification commands run at commit 205fa11: forge build --sizes (sizes above, all <= 24,576); forge test (600 passed, 0 failed, 44 suites, pinned fuzz seed); forge test --match-path test/scratch/AuditScratch.t.sol (4 passed).

On a chain where address(100) has no code, openJob reverts before any token pull (testMissingRobinhoodSystemClockFailsBeforeBuildPayment).

  4. Audit economicsAgent #573found 2 medium, 1 low, 1 info

The review is complete and .imd-findings.json holds four findings, three of them with self-contained Foundry proofs under test/scratch/ that fail on commit 205fa11 for the stated reasons. No source, config or dependency file was changed. The repository's own suite passes (600 tests, scratch excluded), runtime sizes stay under 24,576 bytes, and the codec code-hash pin matches the pinned compiler settings.

    Findings

    • Medium, Robinhood window age. The shipped default maxWindowAgeBlocks = 7200 is counted in native blocks. Robinhood Chain's public RPC shows about ten blocks per second (7,200 blocks spanned 728 seconds), so a verdict has roughly twelve minutes after its closing block to land on chain. A fresh, correctly signed answer delivered thirteen minutes after the trigger reverts in the one-shot callback. The reserve is already spent, the ask stays Pending, and the requester cannot retry or cancel until the owner confirms expiry a day later and the requester pays again. The launch draft has no setPanel call, so this default is what would go live. Proof: test/scratch/ProofRobinhoodWindowAge.t.sol.
    • Medium, zero-tolerance issuedAt. The callback rejects any attestation stamped even one second after the including block's timestamp, while the inherited consumer and the legacy requester allow five minutes of attester clock drift. The same line enforces a one-hour answer age against a signed validity of 24 hours. Either case burns the paid verdict with no requester recovery. Proof: test/scratch/ProofIssuedAtSkew.t.sol.
    • Low, stranded delivered jobs. A build delivered after the seven-day reserve deadline is recorded as Delivered but can never be put to a verdict, because readiness is closed and retryVerdict requires an Unanswered review. A retry whose one-day window lapses ends the same way. Proof: test/scratch/ProofLateDelivery.t.sol.
    • Info, trust assumptions. Owner-only recovery of lost callbacks, epoch revocation re-enabling a NotPassed retry, the Intake as sole callback authority, and the recorded Robinhood ERC-1271 callback measurement sitting within two percent of the 200k stipend.

Verified clean in the assigned area: exact question and ArtifactV2 binding, candidate immutability, approvedArtifact versus GatedHookDeployer digest equality, replay protection across asks, consumers and chains, reentrancy guards and fail-closed synchronous callbacks, the reserve and refund accounting invariant, NotPassed non-retryability, and signer epoch revocation paths.

Limits: the Robinhood cadence comes from read-only public RPC calls today, not from a paid end-to-end run. No live signatures, payments or deployments were made, and no static analyzer was run beyond Foundry.

    • mediumRobinhood native cadence (~10 blocks/s) makes the shipped maxWindowAgeBlocks=7200 a ~12-minute delivery window; fresh valid verdicts are lost with the paid reservesrc/imd/automatic/AutoHookJobRequester.sol:62

onReviewResult (line 360) rejects any attestation whose signed closing block is more than windowAge[askId] native blocks behind head(), and windowAge is snapshotted at the trigger from the default maxWindowAgeBlocks = 7200. On Ethereum that is about 24 hours and matches the oracle's validForSeconds of 86400.

      On Robinhood Chain (4663) head() is ArbSys.arbBlockNumber(), and the public RPC https://rpc.mainnet.chain.robinhood.com shows blocks 92181382 -> 92188582 (exactly 7200 blocks) spanning timestamps 1792368375 -> 1792369103, i.e. 728 seconds; 92088582 -> 92188582 spans 10175 s (0.10 s/block).

So on Robinhood the default allows about 12 minutes between the closing block (head-8 at the trigger, less than one second before it) and the on-chain delivery of the signed answer by the Intake writer, for a 7-seat panel question that requires reproducing a build and checking review records. A correctly signed, fresh (issuedAt now, under MAX_ANSWER_AGE) true answer arriving 13 minutes later reverts InvalidWindow inside the one-shot 200k callback.

The Intake attempts the callback once, so the verdict is lost: the reserve was already debited in requestVerdict, j.review stays Pending, approvedArtifact is zero, retryVerdict reverts NotReady, cancelReserve reverts, and only the owner can confirmReviewExpiry after one day, after which the requester must fund a second reserve. deployment/automatic.draft.json lists no setPanel owner call at launch, so the default is what goes live.

This is a shipped default plus a confirmed native cadence; whether the live panel actually needs more than 12 minutes is a live-integration question, but the docs' own 86400 s validity suggests it does.

Fix (design-preserving): make the age bound chain-aware (e.g. codec returns a per-chain default, or require an explicit constructor/setPanel value with no 7200 fallback for 4663), or express delivery slack in seconds as MAX_ANSWER_AGE already does and keep the block bound only as a sanity cap; at minimum add the Robinhood setPanel to the launch draft.

Chain 4663 with ArbSys mock at address(100) returning 90_000_000. openJob -> commitArtifact -> onJobResult; set head 90_000_008; requestVerdict(askId) (reserved becomes 0).

Set head 90_007_808 and warp +13 minutes (Robinhood cadence).

Intake delivers a correctly signed bool=true attestation with fromBlock/toBlock equal to the ask, issuedAt=block.timestamp, expiresAt=+1 day, panel 7/5/5.

Expected: review Passed (the answer is fresh and valid for 24 h).

Actual: callback reverts InvalidWindow (currentBlock - toBlock = 7800 > 7200); review stays Pending; refunds[imd][creator]=0; retryVerdict -> NotReady; cancelReserve -> DeadlineNotReached; confirmReviewExpiry only after 1 day, then a second FEE is pulled on retry (test/scratch/AuditStuckState.t.sol passes on current code and shows the creator down 3*FEE).

The same attestation delivered at 7200 blocks is accepted (existing testNativeFreshnessBoundaryAndFutureClosingBlock).

Proof test: test/scratch/ProofRobinhoodWindowAge.t.sol (fails on this commit, passes once the stated fix is applied).

    • mediumZero-tolerance issuedAt <= block.timestamp in the one-shot callback (inherited consumer and legacy allow 5 minutes) burns a paid verdict on one second of attester clock skewsrc/imd/automatic/AutoHookJobRequester.sol:361

OracleAttestationConsumer._verifyAttestation deliberately tolerates issuedAt up to ISSUED_AT_TOLERANCE = 5 minutes ahead of block.timestamp ('the attester stamps with its own wall clock; a block's timestamp is a validator's'), and the legacy HookJobRequester.onReviewResult relies on that tolerance. AutoHookJobRequester adds att.issuedAt > block.timestamp with no tolerance before the signature is even checked.

The Intake delivers each answer exactly once with 200k gas, so a revert here is final for that ask: the reserve has already been spent, review stays Pending, retryVerdict reverts NotReady, and only the owner can confirmReviewExpiry after one day, after which the requester pays a second reserve.

On Ethereum a block's timestamp is its slot start while builders keep accepting transactions for roughly the first second or two of the slot, so an answer signed and broadcast immediately can land in a block whose timestamp is 1-2 s earlier than issuedAt; the same applies to sequencer clocks on Robinhood.

The same block also enforces MAX_ANSWER_AGE = 1 hour (line 362) against a signed validity of 24 h (expiresAt in every captured live vector and validForSeconds 86400 in the request body), so a writer that delivers more than one hour after issuance loses the verdict the same way. Neither bound is needed for safety: a.askedAt and the signed window already anchor the answer to this ask, and GatedHookDeployer applies its own maxJobAge freshness from issuedAt.

Fix: allow issuedAt up to block.timestamp + ISSUED_AT_TOLERANCE (as the base contract does), and either drop MAX_ANSWER_AGE or raise it towards the signed validity, keeping att.expiresAt as the hard bound.

Local chain: openJob, commitArtifact, onJobResult, roll +8, requestVerdict (reserve spent).

      Warp +10 minutes.

Intake delivers a correctly signed true attestation identical to a valid one except issuedAt = block.timestamp + 1 (within the consumer's 5-minute tolerance; expiresAt far in the future).

Expected (per OracleAttestationConsumer policy and legacy behaviour): accepted, review Passed.

Actual: InvalidWindow revert inside the one-shot callback; intake.complete returns false; review remains Pending; approvedArtifact == 0; the requester cannot retry or cancel.

Second input on the same line: a valid attestation with issuedAt = T delivered at block.timestamp = T + 3601 (expiresAt = T + 86400) also reverts InvalidWindow and is lost.

Proof test: test/scratch/ProofIssuedAtSkew.t.sol (fails on this commit, passes once the stated fix is applied).

    • lowA build delivered after the 7-day reserveDeadline, or a retry whose 1-day window lapses, leaves a Delivered job with a committed candidate that can never reach a verdictsrc/imd/automatic/AutoHookJobRequester.sol:440

_jobCallback (line 249) intentionally admits onJobResult for an Expired job, so a late Intake build callback still records Delivered and resultHash. But verdictReadiness (line 310) requires block.timestamp <= p.reserveDeadline, which was fixed at openedAt + 7 days, and the only way to fund a new ask, retryVerdict, requires review == Unanswered, which can only follow a verdict that was actually requested.

A job delivered at day 7 + 1 s therefore has review None forever: requestVerdict is never ready, retryVerdict reverts NotReady, and the only action left is cancelReserve. The build fee bought a delivered, candidate-committed job that can never be approved or deployed through GatedHookDeployer; the requester must open and pay for a brand-new build.

The same dead end arises after retryVerdict: it sets reserveDeadline = now + 1 day and review = None, so if nobody triggers within that day (e.g. the Intake's oracle.request price exceeds the reserve for a day, or the Robinhood clock is unavailable), the retry window lapses with review None and no further retry is possible.

Fix: let the requester re-fund a stranded ask (allow retryVerdict when review == None, status == Delivered, the current ask has no intakeId and its reserveDeadline has passed or the reserve is zero), or let commitArtifact/onJobResult reset reserveDeadline when a candidate and delivery both exist.

openJob at T; commitArtifact; warp to getJob(jobId).deadline + 1 (T + 7 days + 1); Intake delivers onJobResult -> status Delivered. verdictReadiness(askId).ready == false (deadline passed). creator calls retryVerdict(jobId, FEE): expected a fresh fundable ask for the delivered build; actual revert NotReady because review is None. requestVerdict(askId) reverts NotReady.

Only cancelReserve succeeds; the job can never be approved.

Retry variant: after an Unanswered verdict, retryVerdict then warp +1 day + 1 s without a trigger: readiness false, retryVerdict -> NotReady again.

Proof test: test/scratch/ProofLateDelivery.t.sol (fails on this commit, passes once the stated fix is applied).

    • infoTrust assumptions and liveness dependencies of the automatic flow (owner-only Pending recovery, epoch revocation reopening NotPassed, Intake as sole callback authority, thin Robinhood callback gas marsrc/imd/automatic/AutoHookJobRequester.sol:570

Documented powers, recorded here as trust assumptions rather than bypasses, with the concrete states that depend on them.

      (1) A Pending ask whose one-shot callback was lost (reverted, out of gas, or never sent) can only be reopened by the owner via confirmReviewExpiry after one day; the requester has no expireReview signal as in the legacy contract, and a careless confirmation can discard a still-in-flight valid answer (existing testExpiryRecoveryBothOrdersAndNegativeCannotRetry shows the loss).

      (2) closeRevokedVerdict converts a NotPassed into Unanswered once its signer epoch is revoked, which re-enables retryVerdict; the owner can do this with any nonzero incidentHash after a setOracleSigner rotation, at the cost of invalidating every other approval in that epoch.

      (3) payments[jobId].intake is the sole caller allowed to settle a job or verdict; setProtocol lets the owner point new jobs at any address, which then controls their build and verdict callbacks (verified in testProtocolSettingsCannotRedirectPendingFundsOrCallback that existing jobs are unaffected).

      (4) The recorded Robinhood 22-cold-read ERC-1271 callback measurement is 195,877 of the 200,000 gas stipend (docs/checks/oracle-window/callback-gas.log), a 2% margin measured against a Solidity ArbSys mock whose SLOAD cost may differ from the live precompile; a registry signer with a few more cold reads would exceed it and silently lose the verdict. None of these is a code defect; they should stay in the threat model and launch checklist.

Also verified clean in this review: exact question/ArtifactV2 binding (askId, jobId, specHash, resultHash, reviewedCommit and full 14-field digest are in the pinned question; candidate is immutable after commit; approvedArtifact equals that digest and GatedHookDeployer compares it exactly), replay (EIP-712 domain per consumer, _consume on requestId, oracleUUID per ask, fresh askId per retry), reentrancy (guards on every token-moving path; synchronous Intake callbacks fail NotIntake because payments/reviewOf are written after _request), reserve accounting invariant reserved == sum(unspent reserves) + sum(refund credits) across open/request/cancel/retry/withdraw, EIP-170 sizes and the pinned codec code hash, and the 24576-byte limit.

State, not an exploit: (1) after any lost verdict callback, getJob(jobId).review == Pending, retryVerdict -> NotReady, cancelReserve -> DeadlineNotReached/UnknownOrSettled, confirmReviewExpiry only by owner after a.deadline.

      (2) answer false -> NotPassed; owner setOracleSigner(x); revokeSignerEpoch(1, h); closeRevokedVerdict(jobId) -> review Unanswered; creator retryVerdict succeeds.

      (3) owner setProtocol(attacker,...); new openJob records payments[job].intake = attacker, who may then call onJobResult/onReviewResult for that job.

      (4) docs/checks/oracle-window/callback-gas.log: 'Automatic 22-cold-read ERC1271 minimum forwarded callback gas: 195877' under RobinhoodAutomaticGasTest.

  5. Audit mathAgent #422found 4 low, 2 info

The review is complete and .imd-findings.json holds six substantiated findings (four low, two info). No source files were changed; the only writes were the findings file and two scratch tests under test/scratch/.

    What I checked

    • All 600 tests in the repository pass at commit 205fa11, and the runtime sizes are under the limit with the pinned solc 0.8.26 (AutoHookJobRequester is 24,546 bytes, 30 bytes of margin).
    • Exact question and ArtifactV2 authorization: the signed question hash is bound to the immutable pin prefix plus the stored from/to window, and the prefix commits to jobId, askId, specHash, resultHash, reviewed commit and the full 14-field artifact digest. The deployer compares that digest to the artifact it is asked to deploy. I found no substitution path.
    • Reserve accounting, refunds, retries, replay keys, reentrancy ordering, callback authorization, signer epochs and revocation all hold up. NotPassed cannot be retried or re-committed by the requester.
    • Native-chain windows: open, commit, delivery, retry, trigger and callback all use the same codec clock. The Robinhood ArbSys path is only covered by a local mock.

    Findings written

    1. Low. A candidate committed before delivery cannot be withdrawn, and the permissionless trigger then spends the reserve into a terminal NotPassed. Reproduced.
    2. Low. Rotating the oracle signer while a verdict is Pending makes the one-shot callback revert with BadSignature, losing the paid verdict. Reproduced.
    3. Low. The default block-age bound of 7200 is applied to Robinhood's native block counter, so an honest answer within the advertised 86400-second validity is rejected after roughly 30 minutes of blocks. Reproduced with the ArbSys mock.
    4. Low. Re-measuring the callback on chain 4663 adds about 5.9k gas, leaving the modelled 22-cold-read ERC-1271 signer only 4,133 gas under the 200k stipend. The shipped gas test never makes the ArbSys call.
    5. Info. The automatic requester refuses Robinhood Testnet and Base Sepolia, the only chains the release policy permits, so the ArbSys clock has no testnet rehearsal.
    6. Info. Owner trust assumptions: the owner picks the verdict trust root, and revoke-then-close reopens a NotPassed verdict for retry.

    Not proven here

Live Intake v2 behavior, the real forwarded stipend, the real ArbSys reads on 4663, and whether the oracle canonicalizes the hooks question with its definitions object exactly as the codec emits it remain unverified by local tests. No critical or high defects were found, so no proof files were attached.

    • lowCandidate committed before delivery is irrevocable and anyone can spend the reserve into a terminal NotPassedsrc/imd/automatic/AutoHookJobRequester.sol:211

commitArtifact is allowed before onJobResult (doc: 'can precede or follow job delivery') and is one-shot (AlreadyCommitted). Once the build is delivered the ask becomes ready after 8 native blocks and requestVerdict is permissionless. There is no requester-side abort between commit and trigger: cancelReserve needs Failed status or the 7-day reserve deadline (DeadlineNotReached), and no function withdraws or replaces the candidate.

If the delivered completion snapshot (resultHash) does not match the pre-committed artifact fields (e.g. the worker's published buildHash/sourceSubmissionHash differ from what the requester guessed), the panel correctly answers false and the job is terminal: retryVerdict reverts NotReady (NotPassed), commitArtifact reverts AlreadyCommitted, and the only route is a new job and a second build fee.

The verdict reserve is spent by an outsider on a question the requester already knows will fail. Mitigation that preserves the design: either reject commitArtifact while status != Delivered, or allow the requester to withdraw an uncommitted-to-delivery candidate until the first requestVerdict (candidateDigest reset while asks[jobAsk[jobId]].intakeId == 0 and status != Delivered).

State: open job (FEE build + FEE reserve).

Requester calls commitArtifact(jobId, artifact, commit) BEFORE delivery.

      Intake delivers onJobResult(jobId, keccak256('snapshot'), uri).

Requester calls cancelReserve(jobId) -> reverts DeadlineNotReached.

      Roll 8 blocks.

Outsider calls requestVerdict(askId): succeeds, intake balance rises from FEE to 2*FEE (reserve spent).

Panel answers false -> review = NotPassed.

Requester: retryVerdict(jobId, FEE) -> NotReady; commitArtifact -> AlreadyCommitted.

Expected: a requester who committed too early can withdraw or replace before the reserve is spent, or early commit is refused.

Actual: locked in, spent by a third party, job permanently ended.

      Reproduced in test/scratch/AuditLeads.t.sol::testEarlyCommitLockedInAndSpentByOutsider.

    • lowOrdinary signer rotation while a verdict is Pending loses the one-shot paid callbacksrc/imd/automatic/AutoHookJobRequester.sol:540

_verifyAttestation checks the signature only against the current oracleSigner. An attestation signed by the previous key for an ask that was triggered before setOracleSigner is rejected with BadSignature in onReviewResult.

The Intake attempts the callback once with 200k gas, so the paid verdict is lost: the ask stays Pending, retryVerdict reverts NotReady, and the requester is blocked until the owner's exceptional confirmReviewExpiry after a day, after which the requester must fund a second reserve. The docs state 'ordinary rotation does not revoke past approvals' but do not cover in-flight asks; no test exercises rotation while Pending.

A grace window (accept the signer of the epoch recorded at trigger until the epoch is revoked, or until the ask deadline) would keep rotation safe for in-flight work while revokeSignerEpoch still blocks compromised keys.

State: job delivered, candidate committed, requestVerdict(askId) done at epoch 1 (intake balance 2*FEE).

Oracle signs attestation A with the epoch-1 key (issuedAt = now).

      Owner calls setOracleSigner(newKey) (epoch 2).

Intake delivers onReviewResult(verdictId, A, sig): reverts BadSignature; MockIntake.complete returns false and marks the request settled. review stays Pending; retryVerdict(jobId, FEE) reverts NotReady.

Expected: a verdict bought under epoch 1 and signed by the epoch-1 key is still accepted unless epoch 1 is revoked.

Actual: lost; requester pays again after owner intervention.

On Robinhood (4663) head() is ArbSys.arbBlockNumber, an Arbitrum-style counter that advances per L2 block (sub-second cadence under load), so 7200 native blocks can elapse in roughly 30 minutes while the answer is still inside MAX_ANSWER_AGE (1 hour) and the 86400 s validity the request itself asked for.

The callback is one-shot, so an honest, fresh, correctly signed answer delivered after that many native blocks is lost and the requester must pay a second reserve after owner confirmReviewExpiry. deployment/automatic.draft.json carries the same 7200 default for every chain and lists no owner setPanel call for Robinhood; the runbook only says the operator 'must select a larger bound'.

The contract and draft should carry a chain-aware default (or setPanel should be a required owner call in the Robinhood draft) so the block-age bound and the time bounds express the same policy.

chainId 4663, ArbSys mock at address(100) returning 900000.

Open, commit, deliver; set native head 900008; requestVerdict -> fromBlock = toBlock = 900000.

Sign a valid true attestation (issuedAt = now).

Advance native head to 907201 and warp +30 minutes (within MAX_ANSWER_AGE and expiresAt). onReviewResult reverts InvalidWindow; Intake records the callback as failed; review stays Pending; reserve already spent.

With head 907200 the same attestation is accepted (existing test testNativeFreshnessBoundaryAndFutureClosingBlock).

Expected: an answer within the requested validity window on the question chain is accepted.

Actual: rejected after ~30 minutes of Robinhood blocks.

      Reproduced in test/scratch/AuditLeads.t.sol::testRobinhoodBlockAgeBoundRejectsAnswerWithinAdvertisedValidity.

    • infoArbSys clock path has no testnet rehearsal: head() refuses 46630 and 84532, the only chains the release policy permitssrc/imd/automatic/HookRequestCodec.sol:29

HookRequestCodec.head() supports 1, 11155111, 31337 (block.number) and 4663 (ArbSys). README and docs/DEPLOYMENT.md state this release rejects Ethereum, Base and Robinhood mainnets and permits only 31337, 11155111, 84532 and 46630.

GatedHookDeployer.pinnedManager accepts 46630 and 84532, but AutoHookJobRequester.openJob calls head() first and reverts, so the automatic requester, the HookQuestionPin flow and the ArbSys clock cannot be exercised on Robinhood Testnet before the mainnet pilot. The 4663 path is therefore only covered by the local ArbSys mock (docs/CHAINS.md already records Robinhood as untested).

Not a code defect; a live-integration gap to record: the first real arbBlockNumber() read, callback gas including the cold precompile STATICCALL, and the Intake's 200k stipend on 4663 are unproven.

      vm.chainId(46630); spec.chainId = 46630; creator calls openJob(spec, gated, brief, FEE, FEE) -> reverts UnsupportedClock(46630) before any payment.

      Same for 84532.

Existing testUnsupportedClockFailsBeforeBuildPayment shows the shape with 999001.

    • infoOwner trust assumptions: the owner selects the verdict trust root and can reopen a NotPassed verdict via epoch revocationsrc/imd/automatic/AutoHookJobRequester.sol:555

Documented powers, recorded here as trust assumptions rather than bypasses. (1) setOracleSigner is owner-only with no timelock or two-step; the owner can point oracleSigner at a key they hold and sign a 'true' attestation for any pending ask, so every approvedArtifact ultimately trusts the owner as much as the IdentityMD signer.

      (2) NotPassed is designed to be final for the requester, but the owner can rotate (setOracleSigner), revoke the previous epoch with any nonzero incidentHash (no evidence is checked on chain), then closeRevokedVerdict(jobId) which turns a NotPassed into Unanswered so the requester may retryVerdict. This is the intended incident path, but it is also the only form of NotPassed shopping in the system and it is gated solely by the owner key.

      (3) confirmReviewExpiry can discard an in-flight honest callback after one day. GatedHookDeployer has no independent check: it reads review/epoch/revocation state from the requester, so all three powers flow through to deployment eligibility.

Recommended: launch with the owner behind a multisig/timelock and keep revokeSignerEpoch + closeRevokedVerdict paired with the published incident record.

Owner path: job answered false (NotPassed).

Owner calls setOracleSigner(x) then revokeSignerEpoch(1, keccak256('incident')) then closeRevokedVerdict(jobId) -> review = Unanswered (existing testSignerRevocationBlocksDeploymentAndRecoveryKeepsUUID covers the Passed case; the NotPassed branch is allowed by the same condition at line 561-562).

Requester then retryVerdict(jobId, reserve) and a fresh question is bought.

Expected per docs: NotPassed cannot retry.

Actual: it can after owner revocation.

    • lowOne-shot onReviewResult on Robinhood leaves only ~4.1k gas of the 200k stipend for an ERC-1271 registry signer; the shipped gas test never exercises the ArbSys callsrc/imd/automatic/AutoHookJobRequester.sol:357

AutomaticGasTest measures the minimum forwarded gas for onReviewResult on 31337 as 127,706 (EOA signer), 172,804 (5-of-7 threshold signer) and 189,978 (22-cold-read ERC-1271 registry) against the 200,000 Intake stipend. That test cools address(100) but on 31337 codec.head() reads block.number and never calls it, so the published numbers omit the Robinhood clock.

Re-measuring the identical cold-state binary search with chainId 4663, spec.chainId 4663 and an ArbSys mock at address(100) gives 133,605 (EOA, +5,899) and 195,867 (22-cold-read registry, +5,889): the registry configuration keeps 4,133 gas of headroom. The Intake attempts the callback once; a revert loses the paid verdict (ask stays Pending until owner confirmReviewExpiry, then the requester funds a retry).

Any of the following pushes the registry case over the edge: a registry with a few more cold reads than the 22 modelled, an Intake that forwards slightly less than 200k after its own call overhead, or an attestation whose signature bytes are longer (the ERC-1271 staticcall copies them). The EOA configuration keeps ~66k and is fine.

Recommendation: add the 4663 measurement to AutomaticGasTest with an asserted minimum margin, and cache or cheapen the head() hop in the callback (e.g. read ArbSys directly in the requester for 4663 instead of requester->codec->precompile) if a contract signer is planned.

Run the existing _minimum binary search from AutomaticGasTest after vm.chainId(4663), spec.chainId = 4663, vm.etch(address(100), mock with arbBlockNumber()) and the normal open/commit/deliver/requestVerdict sequence.

      Observed minima: EOA 133,605; ColdReadReceiptSigner(signer, 22) 195,867, versus 127,706 and 189,978 on 31337.

Expected: the shipped under-200k claims hold with a stated margin on every supported chain.

Actual: the Robinhood registry margin is 4,133 gas and is not measured by the repository's tests.

      Reproduced in test/scratch/RobinhoodGas.t.sol.

  6. Audit judgeAgent #1017found 2 medium, 2 low, 1 info

I reviewed AutoHookJobRequester and its use of HookRequestCodec and GatedHookDeployer, and wrote 5 findings to .imd-findings.json. I merged the 20 specialist findings into these 5; each kept defect has a Foundry test run against this commit. No source files were changed. My tests are in test/scratch/, which isn't kept.

Medium (both carry a proof that fails on the code as it stands):

    1. The verdict reserve deadline is fixed when the job opens. reserveDeadline is set to open time plus 7 days and nothing moves it. A build delivered and committed near or after that deadline can never get a verdict, so the hook can never pass GatedHookDeployer. A retry whose 1-day window passes without a trigger hits the same dead end. The specialist's supplied proof failed with the stated message ("delivered, committed, matured ask can never become ready").
    2. The callback rejects answers that are slightly early or more than an hour old. It refuses an issuedAt even 1 second after the block timestamp, although the base consumer allows 5 minutes. It also refuses any answer delivered more than 1 hour after issue, although the signed expiry is 24 hours. Because the Intake tries the callback only once, the paid verdict is lost and only the owner can unstick the job. In my test a valid answer was accepted, while the +1 second and +3601 second versions reverted with InvalidWindow.

Low: 3. Rotating the signer loses answers already in flight. After setOracleSigner, an answer signed with the previous key fails with BadSignature, even though that key was never revoked. 4. An artifact committed before delivery locks the requester in. It can't be withdrawn, and cancelReserve reverts. Once the 8-block window passes, anyone can spend the reserve on a question that must answer false, and that result is final.

Info (not code defects): 5. These items can't be proven locally:

    • The 7200-block answer-age default would be only minutes on Robinhood's chain. I didn't measure Robinhood's real block rate.
    • The ArbSys clock is tested only against mocks.
    • Robinhood's testnets are rejected by head(), so the clock path can't be rehearsed there.
    • The specialists report a thin callback gas margin on Robinhood; I didn't re-measure it.
    • The owner's powers are trust assumptions: immediate signer rotation, owner-only recovery of stuck reviews, and revoking a signer epoch, which can reopen a failed verdict for retry.

None of this is a paid end-to-end check against the live Intake or a real chain.

    • mediumVerdict reserve deadline fixed at job open: a build delivered late (or after expiry) can never be reviewed; retry windows can also lapse into a dead endsrc/imd/automatic/AutoHookJobRequester.sol:310

openJob sets reserveDeadline = openedAt + JOB_TIMEOUT; nothing moves it on delivery/commit. verdictReadiness requires block.timestamp <= reserveDeadline and review == None, while _jobCallback accepts deliveries for Open or Expired jobs. retryVerdict needs review == Unanswered, so a delivered-and-committed job whose deadline passes before the 8-block window matures (or which was delivered after expiry) has no route to a verdict; only cancelReserve remains, so the build fee buys a hook that can never pass GatedHookDeployer.

Same dead end after retryVerdict if its 1-day window lapses untriggered (review reset to None). Merges audit_flow ec6c2371 and audit_economics 9bcbce14.

Fix: extend reserveDeadline to max(reserveDeadline, now + REVIEW_TIMEOUT) in onJobResult/commitArtifact, or let the requester re-fund a stranded None ask.

openJob at T; onJobResult at T+7d-60s (Delivered); commitArtifact; roll 8 blocks, warp +96s.

Expected verdictReadiness.ready == true; actual false, requestVerdict reverts NotReady, retryVerdict reverts NotReady.

    • lowOrdinary signer rotation while a verdict is Pending makes the in-flight one-shot answer fail BadSignaturesrc/imd/automatic/AutoHookJobRequester.sol:540

    • lowCandidate committed before delivery cannot be withdrawn; an outsider can spend the reserve on a question that must answer falsesrc/imd/automatic/AutoHookJobRequester.sol:214

commitArtifact is allowed before onJobResult and is immutable.

    • infoLive-integration and trust items not proven locally (Robinhood window-age default, ArbSys clock, callback gas margin, owner powers)src/imd/automatic/AutoHookJobRequester.sol:62
