Do not create a new project or rebuild working features.

Game: 2D top-down pixel-art adventure survival, Desktop Web, low budget, local storage saves.

First inspect the current project, preserve working features and fix existing jobs.

PRIORITIES:

  1. Gameplay: smooth player movement, camera, collision, interaction, resource gathering, health and stamina.

  2. World: 3 explorable areas: Forest, Abandoned Village and Wilderness, with hazards, resources and hidden rewards.

  3. Inventory & Crafting: functional inventory, item management, resource consumption and tool crafting.

  4. Base Building: build and upgrade structures with real resource costs and gameplay benefits.

  5. Progression: daily quests, XP, levels, achievements and one playable mini-game.

  6. UI: polished menu, HUD, inventory, crafting and quest panels. All buttons must work.

  7. Save: local storage for position, inventory, resources, upgrades and quests. Support Continue/New Game.

RULES:

  • No blockchain, backend or paid APIs.
  • No unnecessary dependencies or new costs.
  • No fake or unfinished features presented as complete.
  • Preserve existing working code and assets.
  • Test implemented features.

WORKFLOW: Inspect → Fix bugs → Implement missing features → Test → Report results.

Start working on the existing project now. Do not stop at a development plan. Clearly report completed, untested and unfinished features.

  3. Design criticAgent #1295found 1 medium, 1 low

I found no high-severity problems. The game works, and I wrote two findings (one medium, one low) to .imd-findings.json. The design probe passed all 16 checks. I changed no tracked files; the probe's screenshots are in test/scratch/taste/ and are removed before comparison.

    Requirements

    1. "smooth player movement, camera, collision": met. movePlayer/canStand in src/lib/survival.ts, plus A* pathing. In Chromium, holding arrow keys moved the player from (336,464) to (433,500).
    2. "interaction, resource gathering": met. gather() handles walking distance, regrowth, stamina cost and tool multipliers. The action button changes label ("Gather wood").
    3. "health and stamina": met. tick() covers thorns, the campfire and regeneration. HUD meters are at index.tsx:123.
    4. "3 explorable areas: Forest, Abandoned Village and Wilderness": met. WORLDS, AREA_NAMES, trail exits and the Map panel.
    5. "hazards": met. Thorns in all three areas, mud in the village and wilderness, water and walls block movement.
    6. "resources": met. Wood, stone, fiber, berry, seed, herb and ore nodes.
    7. "hidden rewards": met. One cache per area, with loot that depends on the area and 60 XP.
    8. "functional inventory, item management": met. Inventory panel with filter, use and drop (consume, discard).
    9. "resource consumption and tool crafting": met. RECIPES, and craft() pays the cost and checks capacity.
    10. "build and upgrade structures with real resource costs and gameplay benefits": met. BUILDINGS has three levels each, and they feed into maxHealth, maxStamina, capacity, campfire healing and garden harvests.
    11. "daily quests": met. DAILY_QUESTS, the UTC reset in rollDaily, and Claim is disabled until the target is reached (index.tsx:1002).
    12. "XP, levels": met, apart from finding 2. playerLevel gives one level per 250 XP.
    13. "achievements": met. survivalAchievements, seven of them.
    14. "one playable mini-game": met. Sunflower scramble, saved by recordRun.
    15. "polished menu, HUD, inventory, crafting and quest panels. All buttons must work": met in Chromium. The I, C, B, J and M panels all opened with real content and no console errors.
    16. "local storage for position, inventory, resources, upgrades and quests": met. All of it is saved under squeekquest.survival.v2, and the position persisted after moving.
    17. "Support Continue/New Game": met. After a reload the menu shows "Continue adventure | New game".
    18. "No blockchain, backend or paid APIs": met. The page makes no network calls; the old API modules are still in the source but are never loaded.
    19. "No fake or unfinished features presented as complete": met. The README and the page say saves stay in this browser and there is no leaderboard.
    20. "Test implemented features": untested here for WebKit. WebKit would not start on this machine (missing libgstreamer), and the builder's own notes say the same. Safari behaviour is unverified.

    1. medium — copy: seven slogans stack around the game on the first desktop screen (src/pages/index.tsx:420, plus lines 141, 466, 474, 546).
      • Now: the 1440 screenshot shows the headline plus six more voice lines at once.
      • Change to: keep "Small paws. Wild world." as the headline and rewrite the rest. Delete the header caption, show the save pill only once a save exists, and swap in plain lines such as "Gather wood, craft tools and build your burrow in three areas." The exact copy for each line is in the file.
      • Why: the bar allows one headline and one plain sentence. This is m

    • mediumcopy: seven slogans stack around the game on the first desktop screensrc/pages/index.tsx:420

Now: before play starts, the first 1440 screen carries the headline 'Small paws. Wild world.' plus six more voice lines: the header caption 'A little life in the wild.' (index.tsx:420), the subline 'A hamster survival adventure.

Make yourself at home.' (466), the save pill 'An adventure of your own' (474, shown when no save exists, so it says nothing about saving), the overlay pair 'A small adventure awaits.' / 'Explore. Gather.

Build a place to belong.' (541/546), and the status line 'Your little corner of the wild awaits.' (141), which repeats 'awaits'.

Change to: delete the header caption at line 420 (the header actions move left to fill the gap); at line 466 use 'A hamster survival game.

Gather, craft and build a burrow.'; at line 474 render the pill only when hasSave or storageError is set, so the fallback string goes away and the h1 row holds the headline alone; at line 546 use 'Gather wood, craft tools and build your burrow in three areas.'; at line 141 set the initial message to 'Press Start, then walk with WASD or select the ground.' Keep 'Small paws. Wild world.' as the headline and 'Your burrow is waiting.' / 'A little breather.' as the overlay states.

Why: the bar allows one headline plus one plain sentence. Four or more slogans is a stack to cut, and directions go next to the control they explain.

Width 1440 (desktop is the brief's target, 'Desktop Web').

Steps: fresh profile (empty localStorage), open dist/index.html through a static server, do not press Start.

Evidence: test/scratch/taste/shots/1440.png shows all seven lines at once: header 'A little life in the wild.', h1 + subline, right-aligned 'An adventure of your own', overlay 'A small adventure awaits.' + 'Explore.

      Gather.

Build a place to belong.' + 'Saved in your browser · Play at your pace'.

At 390 (shots/390.png) the footer also shows 'Your little corner of the wild awaits.'

The taste@1 'slogans' check passed, so this is a judgement on the screenshot and not a probe failure.

    • lowbug: fainting removes 20 XP and can lower the player's levelsrc/lib/survival.ts:850

Now: tick() takes away up to 20 XP when health reaches 0. playerLevel is floor(xp/250)+1, so a player at 250-269 XP drops from Level 2 back to Level 1, and the level-up they earned is undone without any message.

Change to: clamp the penalty at the current level's floor: xp: Math.max(Math.floor(s.xp / 250) * 250, s.xp - 20), and print the actual amount lost in the message (Lost ${s.xp - newXp} XP.).

Why: the brief asks for 'XP, levels'. A level a player reached should stay reached, and the message ('Lost 20 XP') should match what was taken.

      Engine level, any width.

Steps: newGame() with xp set to 255 and health 1, area 'wilderness', position inside the thorns rect {x:13TILE,y:17TILE,w:3TILE,h:2TILE}; call tick(s, 0.1).

      Expected: still level 2 (xp >= 250).

Actual: xp = 235, playerLevel = 1, message 'You fainted...

      Lost 20 XP.'
