Build a single-page website called "Squeek Pulse" - a live dashboard for the Squeekchain hamster-powered blockchain. It should fetch data from https://api.squeekchain.com/v1/status and https://community.squeekchain.com/v1/community/stats to display: hamster running status (SPINNING/IDLE with RPM), block height with progress bar, distance run, settled rounds, community members count, badges earned, and a top 10 leaderboard. Dark theme, responsive, auto-refresh every 20 seconds.

  3. Design criticAgent #1560found 2 medium, 4 low

The Squeek Pulse build meets every requirement in the brief. Nothing is missing, faked or broken, and the dashboard is on the first screen at 390 wide. I recorded six findings, none of them high; they are in .imd-findings.json.

I couldn't run the probe or watch the page myself. Every Bash call failed with a sandbox error ("Failed to create bridge sockets"), the browser tool has no Chromium installed, and both feed URLs return 403 to my fetch tool. So I judged from the source, the builder's screenshots at 390 and 1440, and the builder's own artifacts/taste-checks.json and live-check.json. For the same reason I didn't check the main interaction in WebKit. I changed no files apart from the findings file.

The idea in one sentence: a calm dark dashboard carried by the hamster-wheel illustration that spins only when the live feed says SPINNING. The journey card's cubes, its second headline and the slogans compete with that and should go.

    Findings

    1. Medium, taste: the "Small paws. Real progress." explainer card is marketing on a dashboard and adds about 630px at 390. Delete it and let the leaderboard take the full row.
    2. Medium, copy: the page has a stack of slogans: three while the wheel is idle, plus the "Every revolution counts." footer line and "Tiny feet. Steady momentum." when it spins. The finding gives the plain replacement text for each.
    3. Low, copy: the metric captions are mood lines; they should say where each number comes from (for example, a snapshot time).
    4. Low, taste: at 390, "Community members" wraps to two lines, so its value sits about 18px lower than Badges earned. Hiding the label icons at the 38rem breakpoint, as the site already does at 22rem, fixes it.
    5. Low, copy: "Through round #242" and the "#366" under the progress bar repeat the number just above them.
    6. Low, accessibility: the Refresh button disables itself while it fetches, which drops keyboard focus. This one comes from reading the code; I couldn't confirm it in a browser.

The distance card shows 0.000 km in the builder's screenshots. The page explains that the hardware counter can reset, and I couldn't reach the feed to check the real value, s

    • mediumtaste: a marketing explainer aside ('Small paws. Real progress.') competes with the dashboard and adds about 600px under the leaderboard at 390src/main.ts:102

Now: next to the leaderboard sits a second card with an isometric-cube illustration, a two-beat headline 'Small paws. Real progress.' (32px, the same size as the h1), an intro sentence, three numbered steps ('The hamster runs / The oracle checks / The chain grows') and a closing slogan 'Powered by paws. Followed by people.'. It shows no data.

Change to: delete the block (src/main.ts lines 102-114) and its .journey-* rules in src/styles.css. Set .community-grid to grid-template-columns: minmax(0, 1fr) so the leaderboard fills the full 1296px row at 1440. At 390 the footer moves up directly under the leaderboard. If the requester wants the three-step explanation kept, move its one useful sentence ('A running wheel turns physical movement into progress on Squeekchain.') into the About the data dialog (#data-dialog), which already explains the feeds.

Why: the brief asks for 'a live dashboard'. The reference says dashboards are read to get a task done and carry no voice line. A second headline, an illustration and a slogan are several devices next to the one idea (live wheel telemetry).

Width 390: load the page and scroll past the leaderboard. artifacts/screenshots/mobile-full.png (390x2895) shows the journey card from about y=2130 to y=2760 (about 630px, 22% of the page) with no live value in it.

Width 1440: artifacts/screenshots/desktop.png shows it taking the right third of the leaderboard row (x 922-1343). taste-checks.json 'slogans' lists two of its lines: "Small paws.

      Real progress."

      (#journey-title) and "Powered by paws.

      Followed by people."

      (.journey-bottom).

    • mediumcopy: a stack of two-beat slogans on a dashboard (leaderboard subtitle, journey title, journey footer, site footer, wheel captions)src/main.ts:88

Now: voice lines repeat across the page. 'A little friendly competition. A lot of Aura.' (leaderboard subtitle), 'Small paws. Real progress.', 'Powered by paws. Followed by people.', 'Every revolution counts.' (footer, line 117), and in the wheel card 'Tiny feet. Steady momentum.' / 'Even little legs need a break.' (line 174). With the wheel SPINNING, five two-beat slogans show at once.

Change to: replace the leaderboard subtitle with 'Ranked by all-time Aura.' (true per the dialog text at line 126). Delete '/Every revolution counts.' from the footer so 'Squeek Pulse' stands alone. In renderStatus (line 174) replace the SPINNING/IDLE strings with facts: SPINNING -> 'The wheel is turning.' and IDLE -> 'The wheel is stopped.' Keep the stale/unknown strings as they are.

Why: the reference says a stack is four or more slogans and that dashboards have no voice line: 'Cut the stack, not the best line.'

Width 390 or 1440, any state.

Builder's probe artifacts/taste-checks.json 'slogans' found 3 two-beat lines while IDLE ("A little friendly competition.

A lot of Aura.", "Small paws.

      Real progress.", "Powered by paws.

      Followed by people.").

      'Every revolution counts.'

(main.ts:117) is a fourth voice line, and when status.state is SPINNING, main.ts:174 adds 'Tiny feet.

      Steady momentum.' for five.

The visible footer and leaderboard lines show in artifacts/screenshots/desktop.png at y=884 and y=1783.

    • lowcopy: metric captions are decorative lines that carry no data ('A little further, every turn', 'The people behind the paws', 'Small wins, shared together')src/main.ts:77

Now: three of the four metric cards end with a mood line, and the block card adds 'Built one revolution at a time.' (line 68). renderCommunity (lines 207-208) writes the same mood lines back after every fetch.

Change to: make each caption state where the number comes from. Distance: 'Hardware counter, can reset' (dialog line 124 says the counter can reset). Members and badges: in renderCommunity set the caption to Snapshot ${relativeTime(community.data.computedAt).toLowerCase()}, keeping 'Community feed unavailable' on error. Delete the at line 68; the progress label moves up by its 4px margin plus one 19px line.

Why: the reference says a dashboard's text names the task in plain words and has no voice line. A caption under a live number should help the reader trust or time that number.

Width 390: artifacts/screenshots/mobile-full.png shows the metric grid at y≈910-1215 with the captions 'A little further, every turn', 'The people behind the paws' and 'Small wins, shared together' under the values. At 1440 (desktop.png y≈753) they are the only text under 0.000, 40,359 and 74,151.

    • lowtaste: 'Community members' wraps to two lines at 390, so the two cards in that row read at different heightssrc/styles.css:334

Now: at 390 the metric grid has two 8.5rem columns. Each label shares its row with an 16px icon, so 'Community members' breaks to two lines. Its value (40,359) sits about 18px lower than 74,151 beside it, and the captions wrap differently.

Change to: inside @media (max-width: 38rem) add '.metric-label .icon { display: none; }', the rule the site already uses at 22rem (styles.css line 381). Every label then fits on one line, and the values in each row line up.

Why: one comparison has one format. Values meant to be compared side by side should share a baseline.

      Width 390: artifacts/screenshots/mobile-full.png (displayed at 347 wide, scale 1.12).

The 'Community members' label covers two lines (y≈960-977) and its value baseline is near y=1013, while 'Badges earned' takes one line and its value sits near y=997.

That is a gap of about 16 display px, or 18 CSS px.

    • lowcopy: captions repeat the number directly above them ('242' then 'Through round #242'; '# 366' then '#366')src/main.ts:199

Now: the Settled rounds card shows 242 and, right under it, 'Through round #242'. In the block card, the left end of the progress range repeats '#366' 40px below the large '# 366'.

Change to: set rounds-caption to 'Highest confirmed round' with no number, and delete the #current-block span (line 71) so only '#367' stays, right-aligned, under the end of the bar. Change its text to Next: #${...}.

Why: the reference says to cut 'a line that repeats a title'. The reader gets the same fact twice and nothing new.

      Width 1440: artifacts/screenshots/desktop.png shows '242' (y≈716) above 'Through round #242' (y≈753), and '# 366' (y≈380) above '#366' (y≈514). The 390 capture (mobile-full.png) shows the same pairs.

    • lowaccessibility: Refresh disables itself while it fetches, so a keyboard user loses focus after pressing itsrc/main.ts:304

Now: refresh() sets disabled on the focused #refresh button for the length of the three fetches. A focused button that becomes disabled drops focus to in Chromium. After pressing Enter, the next Tab starts again from the top of the page (the skip link).

Change to: replace 'button.disabled = true' with button.setAttribute('aria-disabled', 'true') and leave the existing 'if (refreshing) return' guard (line 300) to block repeat presses. Restore with removeAttribute('aria-disabled') where line 319 re-enables it now. Do the same for #retry-leaderboard (lines 309 and 322). Style [aria-disabled='true'] like .button-primary:disabled (styles.css line 102).

Why: WCAG 2.4.3 Focus Order. The main control of the page should not throw away the user's place.

Width 1440, keyboard only: Tab to Refresh, press Enter, and while 'Refreshing' shows, check document.activeElement.

      Expected: the Refresh button.

Actual, per main.ts:304 (disabled set while focused): document.body.

The next Tab lands on the skip link.

Not run here: this machine had no shell or browser, so this comes from the code path, not a recording.
