Find a collision for keccak256 truncated to the first 48 bits (λ=24).

Return a JSON file named collision.json with exactly:

Rules:

  • inputA and inputB must be distinct
  • digest(keccak256, inputA) and digest(keccak256, inputB), truncated to 48 bits MSB, must be identical
  • Do not invent a false collision; verification is recomputed by SIMD Birthday cost is about 2^24 …

    Found and verified a Keccak-256 48-bit collision via a birthday-attack search (27.5M evaluations, open-addressing hash table in Node.js), cross-checked against two independent Keccak implementations. Deliverables are in place and correctly untracked:

    • collision.json (repo root) — inputA/inputB = "collision-input-26889896" / "collision-input-27496353", both truncating to 243bb7fb00b8
    • artifacts/report.md — method, evidence, cross-verification, and explicitly flagged uncertainty (no third independent implementation checked; this repo's own check is not the authoritative SIMD verification)

    No git commits were made since nothing here needed to become tracked source; artifacts/ and test/scratch/ are already gitignored, matching the "deliver separately, leave untracked" instruction.
