  3. Design criticAgent #1763found 3 medium, 3 low

The site is in good shape: there is nothing high, nothing broken, and the product is on the first phone screen. I found six issues (three medium, three low), and they're in .imd-findings.json at the repository root. No other file changed.

    AreaCount
Brief requirements3: 2 met, 0 missing, 0 faked, 0 after review, 1 needs the requester
    Broken features0
Product and main action on the first screen at 390yes
    taste@1 checks passed16 / 16
Copy findings1 (a stack of five taglines)
Share cardyes (title, favicon, og:title, og:image ./share.png, description)

    Requirements

    • "Wheel Archive": met. It's the brand at the top left (src/App.tsx:67) and in <title>.
    • "a capsule per settlement": met as a sample, plus needs the requester: a real settlement feed or contract. Six capsules come from src/data.ts, and each one is labelled "Exhibition collection · sample settlement" (App.tsx:82) and "not a live or verified onchain record" (App.tsx:105). Because they say plainly that they're samples, they aren't faked.
    • "a stamp you can leave on your own address": met. It's a signed message, verified with viem, that saves against the signing address (src/StampPanel.tsx:19-41). It says "saved in this browser. It does not create an onchain record" (StampPanel.tsx:50), so it isn't faked. A stamp that other visitors could see would need a contract from the requester.

The idea: an archive where each settlement becomes a hand-drawn wheel study you can sign. The device to keep is the procedural wheel. The sun icon by the featured title and the extra taglines compete with it.

    Findings

    1. Medium, fidelity: each capsule's stated turn count doesn't match the loops its artwork draws. Capsule #0184 says "36 turns" but draws 64 loops, and all six capsules disagree (src/WheelArt.tsx:12).
    2. Medium, taste (copy): five taglines sit alongside "Every turn, kept.", and five lines are on the first screen at 1440. The fix deletes the sidebar note, "Made for the long turn.", .collection-note, and the footer line that repeats the subtitle (App.tsx:73).
    3. Medium, bug: below 721px, both "How it works" and "About the archive" are hidden, so a phone can't open the explainer. The fix is to delete the display: none at src/styles.css:284.
    4. Low, bug: the artwork's corner brackets run through "The latest turn" and "01 / 06". At 390 the caption box spans x 35–118 and the bracket sits at x 38–47 (WheelArt.tsx:35).
    5. Low, taste: at 320 the tab labels wrap onto two lines, so the tabs are 66px tall instead of 51px (styles.css:344).
    6. Low, bug: the featured card's "01 / 06" is hard-coded instead of counted from the capsule list (App.tsx:82).

    What I couldn't check

    • WebKit (Safari): it wouldn't launch on this machine because system libraries are missing. I only walked the main flow in Chromium, at 320 and 390. That flow was: home, open a capsule, "Connect to leave a stamp", the wallet sheet, Escape, then My stamps. It had no console errors and no horizontal scroll. Safari is still unverified.
    • Signing: I had no wallet, so I couldn't connect or sign.

    • mediumfidelity: every capsule states a turn count its own artwork does not draw (36 turns written, 64 loops drawn)src/WheelArt.tsx:12

Now: WheelArt draws a fixed loop count per shape (64, 40, 46, 54, 32, 48) while src/data.ts gives each capsule a different turns (36, 28, 42, 32, 24, 40). The dialog shows 'Form 01 / 36 turns' and the story says 'Thirty-six turns fold into one continuous form' and 'Forty-two lines cross and return' over drawings with 64 and 46 loops.

Change to: pass the capsule's count to the art, <WheelArt turns={c.turns} .../>, and in WheelArt.tsx:12 use const n = turns; (prop turns = 36 by default). Keep the data and stories unchanged.

Why: the capsule is the product. Its one fact and its picture disagree on all six records, so 'a capsule per settlement' reads as decoration rather than a record.

      Width 390, Chromium.

      Open #/capsule/184.

The facts row reads 'Form 01 / 36 turns' and the story opens 'Thirty-six turns'.

      Evidence: document.querySelectorAll('.capsule-detail-art svg g[fill=none] path').length returns 64 (shape 0 => n=64).

      The same mismatch holds for #0183 (28 vs 40), #0182 (42 vs 46), #0181 (32 vs 54), #0180 (24 vs 32) and #0179 (40 vs 48).

    • mediumtaste: a stack of five taglines competes with the headline across the pagesrc/App.tsx:73

Now: besides the headline 'Every turn, kept.' and the invitation 'The turn is shared. The stamp is yours.', the page carries 'A turn settles. A story stays.' and 'An archive of moments worth keeping.'

(App.tsx:73), 'Made for the long turn.' (App.tsx:74), 'Small records. Lasting impressions.'

(App.tsx:87, .collection-note) and the footer 'A capsule per settlement. A little history to keep.' (App.tsx:95), which restates the hero subtitle.

At 1440, five of these are on the first screen.

Change to: delete the .sidebar-note div (App.tsx:73) and give .sidebar-bottom margin-block-start: auto so it stays pinned to the bottom of the sidebar. Delete <span className="small muted">Made for the long turn.</span> (App.tsx:74). Delete the .collection-note span (App.tsx:87); the search row stays where it is.

Delete the footer's first span (App.tsx:95), leaving 'Stored in your browser' alone in the footer. Keep 'Every turn, kept.' and the stamp invitation headline.

Why: the bar treats four or more slogans as a stack (cut the stack, not the best line), and a line that repeats a title is cut.

      Width 1440, Chromium, load dist/index.html.

Evidence: in test/scratch/taste/shots/1440.png the first screen shows 'Every turn, kept.', 'A turn settles.

A story stays.', 'An archive of moments worth keeping.', 'Made for the long turn.' and 'Small records.

Lasting impressions.'. taste@1 'slogans' lists three two-beat lines (sidebar-note p, collection-note, stamp-invitation h2) on top of the headline.

    • mediumbug: 'How it works' and 'About the archive' are both hidden below 721px, so a phone cannot open the explainersrc/styles.css:284

Now: at max-width 720px, styles.css:276 hides .sidebar-bottom (the 'About the archive' button) and styles.css:284 hides .how-button. The about modal (App.tsx:110-113), which explains capsules, bookmarks and what a signature does, has no entry point on a phone. Only the footer 'Stored in your browser' privacy note remains.

Change to: delete .how-button { display: none; } at styles.css:284. The 'How it works' text button then sits under the hero subtitle (the page heading already wraps there), and the featured card moves down by one 44px row.

Why: a cut never hides the explanation that an unfamiliar action needs. Signing a message to 'leave a stamp' is unfamiliar to most visitors, and phones are the 390 target.

      Width 390 (also 320), Chromium, load dist/index.html.

Evidence: getComputedStyle(document.querySelector('.how-button')).display === 'none' with a 0x0 rect, and the .sidebar-bottom button rect is 0x0 (parent display none).

Searching the page for any visible control that opens 'A little history to keep.' finds none.

    • lowbug: 'The latest turn' and '01 / 06' captions sit on top of the artwork's corner bracketssrc/WheelArt.tsx:35

Now: .art-caption and .art-edition (styles.css:107-109, 292-294) are positioned at the exact top corners where WheelArt draws its corner brackets, so a bracket line runs through 'The' and through '06' in the featured card.

Change to: in WheelArt.tsx:35 drop the two top brackets from the path, d="M20 256v10h10m340 0h10v-10", and keep the bottom pair and the centre cross. The captions stay where they are.

Why: no text over text or linework. The bracket strokes cut the first readable label on the first screen.

      Width 390, Chromium, load dist/index.html.

      Evidence: the .featured-art .art-caption box is x 35-118, y 288-306, and the top-left bracket maps to x 38-47, y 288-294, inside the caption box.

      The .art-edition box is x 306-355, and the top-right bracket maps to x 343-352.

At 320 the boxes are x 31-114 vs bracket 31-38.

Visible in test/scratch/taste/shots/1440.png as a tick through 'The' and a stroke through '06'.

    • lowtaste: tab labels wrap to two lines at 320, making the nav row 66px tallsrc/styles.css:344

Now: at 320 the three tabs render as 'All / capsules', 'Saved / capsules' and 'My / stamps' on two lines each, so the tab row grows from 51px to 66px and the headline moves down.

Change to: in the max-width 350px block, add .main-nav a { white-space: nowrap; } .main-nav a svg { display: none; }. Dropping the 16px icons and gaps saves about 63px, which lets the labels fit on one line in the 304px row. Labels and current-tab underline stay.

Why: the controls keep their names, and the first screen gets back the space the wrapped labels took.

      Width 320, Chromium, load dist/index.html.

      Evidence: .main-nav a rects are 96x66, 116x66 and 92x66 at 320, against 106x51, 127x51 and 101x51 at 390.

The screenshot shows each label broken onto two lines.

    • lowbug: the featured edition label '01 / 06' is hard-coded rather than computedsrc/App.tsx:82

Now: the featured card prints the literal '01 / 06'. The nav count next to it is computed (capsules.length.toString().padStart(2, '0'), App.tsx:69).

      Change to: <span className="art-edition">01 / {capsules.length.toString().padStart(2, '0')}</span>.

Why: a count that will change must be computed by the page. The brief asks for a capsule per settlement, so the collection grows and this label would go stale on the next settlement.

      Any width.

Add a seventh entry to src/data.ts and rebuild.

Expected: the featured card reads '01 / 07', matching the nav count '07'.

      Actual: it still reads '01 / 06'.
