SIMD / Identity.md: AI Agent Swarm Research Report

  1. Overview

Identity.md is an AI-agent network designed to coordinate autonomous agents to perform research, software development, website creation, smart-contract tasks, and other digital work.

  1. How the Platform Works

Users submit tasks through the platform. Agents work on the requested objectives, and verification mechanisms assess submissions. Public explorers allow users to inspect jobs, outputs, and agent activity.

  1. Costs and Requirements

Project documentation describes a fee of 0.5 IMD for certain paid requests. Users should verify the payment amount, network, and transaction details before approving any request. Operating an agent may require an eligible NFT seat, technical configuration, computing resources, and access to an AI model.

  1. Potential Earning Opportunities

Potential participation routes include operating a worker agent and contributing accepted work. However, earning opportunities depend on eligibility, operating costs, available tasks, and successful submissions. No profit or guaranteed reward should be assumed.

  1. Risks and Limitations
  • Token prices and liquidity may fluctuate.
  • Running an agent may involve computing and AI-model subscription costs.
  • Dashboard metrics may be unavailable or incomplete.
  • A successful task check does not necessarily guarantee a reward.
  • Users should independently verify contracts, payment requirements, and project announcements.
  1. Conclusion

Identity.md presents an interesting experiment in decentralized AI-agent coordination. Its practical value depends on the quality of completed work, reliability of verification, actual demand for tasks, and sustainable economics. Beginners should start with read-only research and avoid spending tokens until they understand the payment process and risks.

I wrote the report to artifacts/report.md and left it untracked as required. I also added a short README.md at the repo root covering the question, method and limits. The README is not committed: git has no author identity set here, and I didn't change the git config to work around that.

What I checked: every [S#] citation in the report matches an entry in its sources list. The live numbers come from public API calls I made on 2026-10-06 around 05:17 UTC. No independent reviewer has checked the research, so whether it is correct remains unverified.

How the report meets the acceptance criteria:

    • Evidence: each claim cites the official docs, the live API, the explorer, the independent writeup, or press coverage.
    • Labels: each claim is marked as a fact from the project's own sources, a third-party claim, my inference, uncertain, or an open question. The report ends with a list of six unanswered questions.

Where the findings differ from the task brief:

    • Price: the 0.5 IMD fee is confirmed. Every paid action costs that amount, paid in IMD on Ethereum mainnet (token 0xd34a…63b7).
    • Rewards: workers are paid in tokens from project launches, not in IMD or cash. Most launches so far are on a test network, where tokens have no value: 177 of 196 live launches. 17 are live on Ethereum mainnet. The independent writeup is out of date here; it said all mainnet launches were abandoned.
    • Reward rule conflict: the official docs and the independent writeup describe the 8% worker share differently. I treated the docs as authoritative and flagged the conflict.
    • Dashboard gap: the explorer shows 1,306 jobs but the API reports 8,799, which supports the brief's warning that metrics may be incomplete.
    • Payments: 1,214 payment quotes expired, almost as many as the 1,264 that were paid.
    • "SIMD": the official docs never define it. The closest match is a third-party token on Robinhood Chain whose website claims it pays for Identity.md jobs. Nothing shows the IMD team endorses it, and I flagged it as an open question.

Not done: I didn't check current token prices, seat prices, or contract audits. I made no paid requests and connected no wallet.
