Produce ONE v2-format test edition through the paper's full pipeline: three independent drafts, one selection, one adversarial review. The edition spec every draft must follow in full:

Produce today's TEST EDITION of Open Interest's daily crypto brief, format v2: a NEWSPAPER, not a research digest. Plain text only, under 1,700 words. Quality of news judgment, voice and sourcing is the entire point.

FIRST: fetch and obey the house style guide at https://raw.githubusercontent.com/openinterest-ai/paper/main/style-guide.html (binding: declarative sentences, numbers with context, banned words, at most one em dash PER STORY, absolute dates, no financial advice). Cite with the full source URL in square brackets.

STRUCTURE (exactly):

LEAD: the day's single most consequential story, ANY category - an exploit, a ruling, an upgrade, a collapse. Declarative headline ending in a full stop, a 2-sentence deck, then 200-300 words, every claim sourced.

NEWS - exactly three items: EVENTS. Hacks and exploits, regulation and enforcement, exchanges and companies, market-structure events. Never price commentary. Tag [NEWS], declarative headline with full stop, 3-4 sentences, at least one source URL each.

TECH - exactly two items: protocols, research, engineering. Tag [TECH], same shape.

CULTURE - exactly two items: governance fights, community conflicts, narratives, the people and institutions of the discourse. Tag [CULTURE], same shape.

READING LIST: 3-5 links, each with a 1-line reason.

METHOD: one closing paragraph: sources swept, hours covered, items cut for failed verification, claims resting on secondary sources.

SOURCES - the roster and the record:

  • The paper's masthead (88 voices): https://raw.githubusercontent.com/openinterest-ai/paper/main/masthead/voices.csv - prefer these voices' own writing for TECH and CULTURE.
  • NEWS events may rest on: official announcements, status pages and company blogs; ON-CHAIN EVIDENCE and analytics investigations (cite transactions and addresses where material); court and regulator documents; and reputable secondary reporting ATTRIBUTED BY NAME where no primary source exists - never stated as bare fact, always disclosed in METHOD.
  • X only via open mirrors. Prefer the last 24-48 hours.
  • A claim that cannot be verified is cut, and the cut is noted in METHOD. When sources conflict on a figure, prefer the primary source; otherwise state the range and attribute both.

CONTINUITY: before drafting, fetch https://openinterest-ai.github.io/paper/rehearsal.html and the prior test editions linked there. Do NOT lead with a story a prior edition led with unless a material NEW development happened after it.

ACCEPTANCE: the structure above complete with EXACT section counts; every claim sourced; under 1,700 words; no banned words; headlines are declarative sentences with full stops; absolute dates only; at most one em dash per story.

  5. SelectAgent #16462 files changed

I picked draft C. edition.txt is a copy of drafts/c.md (cmp confirms they are byte-identical), and selection.txt names the winner, ranks the other two with reasons and lists the checks I ran. Both files are committed as bd8debe, and nothing outside those two paths changed.

    What I checked

    • Structure and style: all three drafts pass the measurable rules. They run 881, 922 and 1,084 words, have no em dashes, have 3/2/2 tagged items and four reading-list links, and contain none of the banned words the style guide shows. The guide hides another 14 banned words, so those couldn't be checked.
    • Continuity: I fetched the rehearsal page and tests 06 and 08. None of them led with Chainalysis, and all three drafts do, so none breaks the continuity rule.

    Ranking

    1. Draft C wins. It has the most new events backed by primary sources: the Zcash NU7 upgrade (I confirmed the activation height and the 6 November 2026, 02:34 UTC block), the Arkansas lawsuit against Kalshi, and Aave Labs buying Avon. It also repeats the least from test 08, which ran the same day.
    2. Draft A is accurate on every claim I checked, but four of its seven items repeat test 08's stories.
    3. Draft B has a sourcing error. Its GOPAX item cites an EToday article that doesn't contain the hacking-threat claim; that claim appears in a different EToday story. B also repeats test 08's Nethermind item and leans on an FBI notice from 31 October.

    Not verified

    • The Arkansas Attorney General's press release refused access (HTTP 403), and the complaint is a scanned PDF. I confirmed draft C's Kalshi date, county and requested penalties only through news coverage (The Block, Decrypt).
    • Binance's withdrawal announcement page came back empty, so draft C's Binance item is unchecked.

The task asked for an adversarial review as part of the pipeline. That step wasn't part of this assignment and hasn't been done.

  6. AttackAgent #61found 2 medium, 2 low

The audit is complete and the findings file is written. Here is the review.

Verdict: publishable under its own rules, yes. No claim in edition.txt is contradicted by its cited source, and every mechanical rule passes. I found four defects, none above medium, written to .imd-findings.json ranked by severity.

    Findings, ranked

    • Medium. Binance item presents a past event as scheduled, without the event date. The cited announcement (Recovery Update #9) opened withdrawals on 6 November 2026 at 04:00 UTC, about 38 hours before this edition's cutoff. Line 22 says "schedules phased withdrawals from 04:00 UTC" and the headline says "schedules another batch". The selection record also admits the announcement was never verified (HTTP 202, empty body), yet METHOD does not disclose that. On re-fetch the facts do match the source.
    • Medium. The Molly White CULTURE item is a stale repeat. Her post is dated 4 November 2026, and test edition 08, published the same day as this edition, already ran it from the same URL. The lead-only continuity rule is not broken, but the item fails the 24-48 hour preference and the selector's own stated reason for picking this draft.
    • Low. Kalshi item rests on an image-only PDF. The complaint scan has no text layer, so "Independence County" and "Kalshi's position that its products are not gambling" cannot be checked in the cited source. The selection record says these were confirmed via The Block and Decrypt, which METHOD does not name. CoinDesk confirms the county, so the facts hold.
    • Low. Coin Center headline overstates the source. Coin Center says regulators must count individuals' privacy costs "not merely" firms' compliance costs. The headline turns that into "ahead of", which the body sentence beneath it correctly avoids.

    What checked out

    • Lead: all Chainalysis claims match the dated blog updates, and the status page still showed phased restoration at 15:07 UTC on 7 November, so the framing is current. Body is 208 words with a 2-sentence deck.
    • Aave/Avon names, assets and absence of price and date; Zcash height 3,543,405 mined 6 November 02:34 UTC per Satview, v4 rejection and Sprout per ZIP-259, 25-second spacing per Zebra 7.0.0; ethresear.ch figures 2.41 to 2.71 times, byte-identical proofs, Fiat-Shamir exclusion, posted 7 November 15:08 UTC.
    • Mechanics: zero em dashes, no hits on the 13 listed banned words, section counts 3/2/2, four reading-list links, all headlines end in full stops, longest sentence 27 words, 881 words total.

Limits. The style guide's "14 more" banned words are unpublished, so they could not be checked. The complaint PDF could not be rendered here, so its contents were confirmed through secondary reporting only.

    • mediumBinance item reports an already-executed withdrawal reopening as scheduled, with a clock time but no dateedition.txt:22

The cited Binance announcement (Recovery Update #9) is published 2026-11-06 03:06 and states withdrawals reopen on 2026-11-06 at 04:00 UTC. The edition, dated 7 November 2026 with a window closing 18:00 UTC, writes 'schedules phased withdrawals from 04:00 UTC' in the present tense and the headline says 'schedules another batch', presenting an event that happened about 38 hours before publication as pending.

The time of day appears without its date, so the only absolute date in the sentence is the notice date, not the event date; the house rule is 'Absolute dates only'. The selection record (selection.txt) also admits this announcement 'returned HTTP 202 with an empty body and was not verified', yet it was published without the METHOD note the spec requires for unverified or cut claims.

On re-fetch the content does match the source (nine networks, ETH on Optimism, MORPHO on Base, FDUSD on Sui), so the facts hold; the defects are tense, missing event date and undisclosed non-verification.

      Open https://www.binance.com/en/support/announcement/detail/a2dd10b860a14c35a856fe9d66d6032c.

Expected: edition states the reopening date 6 November 2026 at 04:00 UTC and uses past tense ('reopened').

Actual: line 22 reads 'schedules phased withdrawals from 04:00 UTC' with no date for the event; headline line 20 says 'schedules another batch'.

Evidence: announcement header 'Published: 2026-11-06 03:06', body 'Withdrawals reopen: 2026-11-06 04:00 (UTC)'; selection.txt line 'The Binance announcement returned HTTP 202 with an empty body and was not verified.'

    • mediumCULTURE item re-runs a three-day-old Molly White post that test edition 08 published the same day from the same URLedition.txt:50

The spec asks for the last 24-48 hours and continuity with prior test editions. Molly White's '2026 election results' post is dated 4 November 2026, three days before this edition, and test edition 08 (7 November 2026, https://openinterest-ai.github.io/paper/tests/test-08.html) already carried it as '[CULTURE] Molly White challenges crypto's election victory accounting. [10]' with source [10] = https://www.citationneeded.news/2026-election-results/.

The edition's headline presents it as a fresh story; only the body and METHOD ('older context from 4 November 2026') date it. The continuity rule as written binds only the LEAD, so this is a news-judgment defect rather than a rule break, but the selection record chose this draft specifically for repeating 'the least of test 08', and this item is a verbatim-source repeat.

Fetch https://openinterest-ai.github.io/paper/tests/test-08.html and search for 'citationneeded.news/2026-election-results'.

Expected: the 7 November edition's two CULTURE items come from the last 48 hours and are not already in a same-day prior edition.

Actual: test-08 lists '[10] https://www.citationneeded.news/2026-election-results/' under a Molly White CULTURE item; the article is dated November 4, 2026 (https://www.citationneeded.news/2026-election-results/).

    • lowKalshi item cites an image-only scanned PDF for the county and for Kalshi's recorded position; the selection record says these were confirmed only via undisclosed secondary reportingedition.txt:30

https://media.ark.org/ag/SOA-v.-Kalshi-Complaint-FM.pdf is a 9.4 MB scan with 114 image objects and zero font objects, so it has no text layer; a 'no link, no claim' mechanical review cannot find 'Independence County' or Kalshi's 'not gambling' position in it.

The AG press release (https://arkansasag.gov/news-release/attorney-general-griffin-sues-prediction-market-kalshi-for-providing-illegal-gambling-platform-in-arkansas/) does not name the court or county and returns HTTP 403 to a server fetch. selection.txt states 'the Kalshi date, county and remedies were confirmed only through secondary reporting (The Block, Decrypt)'.

The spec requires secondary reporting to be attributed by name and disclosed in METHOD; METHOD instead says 'Event reporting uses primary sources and block-explorer evidence'. The county is correct per CoinDesk (https://www.coindesk.com/policy/2026/11/05/the-pile-of-lawsuits-against-kalshi-just-grew-by-one), so this is a sourcing-transparency defect, not a factual error.

Download the complaint PDF and run grep -a -c /Font (returns 0) and grep -a -c /Image (returns 114); strings yields no occurrence of 'Independence'.

Expected: each claim is checkable in its cited source, or METHOD names the secondary outlet used.

Actual: 'Independence County' and 'Kalshi's position that its products are not gambling' are cited only to the scan, and METHOD line 63 makes no mention of The Block or Decrypt.

    • lowCoin Center headline says privacy costs are put 'ahead of' compliance costs; the source says both must be countededition.txt:44

The cited Coin Center post says: 'regulatory analysis should account not merely for compliance costs imposed on regulated firms, but also for the costs imposed on individuals whose sensitive financial information the government requires those firms to collect and retain.' That is an 'also', not a ranking. The edition's own body sentence gets it right ('alongside firms' compliance costs'), so the headline contradicts both the source and the item beneath it.

Open https://coincenter.org/treasury-and-the-federal-reserve-withdraw-another-2020-financial-surveillance-proposal/ and search 'not merely for compliance costs'.

Expected: a headline the source supports, e.g. that regulators must count individuals' privacy costs too.

Actual: line 44 asserts Coin Center 'puts customers' privacy costs ahead of firms' paperwork', a priority ordering the source does not state.
