Audit the IMD Bell contracts in src/ at this commit, the fourth public commit of this repository. PART 1, WHAT IT IS: MarketHoursHook is a Uniswap v4 hook that lets its coin trade only during a daily session: while the market is closed, limit orders wait in two books and each book is filled at one clearing price when a bell rings (opening 12:00 UTC, closing 16:00 UTC).

It creates BellGame (sealed commit-reveal guesses at the next opening price, points only, no tokens), BellRinger (rings the due bell, runs that bell's chores and pays the caller a capped reward priced from block.basefee and the ETH/IMD pool) and SwarmBudget (pays two fixed nightly Intake requests); MarketHoursCoin is a fixed-supply ERC-20.

PART 2, HISTORY: this commit answers the seven findings of the audit of commit 4eb95e3 (job d2e99057-f18f-44d5-852b-53d5bb1b4ca0, report https://api.imd.fun/jobs/d2e99057-f18f-44d5-852b-53d5bb1b4ca0/report.md), which followed the audit of bc64b98 (job 193411a0-b64c-477e-a785-e57fb254dd91, report https://api.imd.fun/jobs/193411a0-b64c-477e-a785-e57fb254dd91/report.md) and the audit of 672a97b (job a300cdb8-36eb-408a-9b46-c8d94d108cda, report https://api.imd.fun/jobs/a300cdb8-36eb-408a-9b46-c8d94d108cda/report.md).

README.md lists every fix under 'Since the first audit', 'Since the second audit' and 'Since the third audit'; test/repro, test/audit-two and test/audit-three hold one regression test per finding.

PART 3, FIRST PRIORITY, whether each fix of the third audit holds and whether it opened a new problem: (a) the round-trip guard's key is scoped to the router: keccak256(abi.encode(router, account)) when the router reports an account through msgSender(), else the signer as a padded word, stored in lastSwap(bytes32); (b) BellGame.reveal refuses a guess that is not a bucket (off the 60-tick grid or above the grid's top word); (c) a swap that starts where the pool has zero in-range liquidity is neither sampled nor the block's checkpoint, and the block's first swap that starts inside liquidity is — including what this does at a launch whose price sits on the seed position's edge; (d) the reference set at initialisation is held to plus or minus 875,220 and rounded to the nearest bucket exactly as a bell's is; (e) the guard's reply-length check reads the router's own reply.

PART 4, KNOWN AND ACCEPTED, do not report these again unless you can show they are worse than stated here: (i) the ring reward after a moved ring: the ringer prices its reward at the lower of the ETH/IMD pool's spot and the spot the previous ring stored, and stores the raw spot its own transaction read, so a ring made with the pool moved the same way twice running is paid at the moved price on the second, up to the 3 IMD cap; moving the pool and moving it back inside one transaction costs the mover the pool's fee on both legs and nobody can trade between the legs, which at the mainnet pool's current depth is thousands of IMD to gain under 3; the worst case if the pool thinned is bounded to the two ring caps and the push caps a day from the purse, and the bells still ring; after a direct ring at the hook the ringer's call runs inside a pool unlock, so the mover needs the fee, not capital; (ii) a 5 IMD order at the band's passive edge is never reached, pays only the 0.5 percent unfilled fee (0.025 IMD), counts 0.05 IMD toward the deposit cap and holds a paid guess ticket; points only, and one fresh wallet per bucket is the limit of any per-wallet rule.

PART 5, THEN EVERYTHING ELSE: any way to lose, lock or steal user funds in the books, cancels, claims, the closed-market exit, refunds of a missed bell, or the fee splits and burns; any way to make a bell impossible to ring, to ring one twice, or to ring it with a manipulated price, including the 120-bucket residual cap, the 10,600,000 gas floor and the 16,777,216 per-transaction gas cap; rounding in the clearing price and in residual pool fills; reward farming or draining of the bell purse beyond part 4; front-running or griefing of the bells and of sealed guesses; and anything the univ4_hook launch policy would refuse at admission.

PART 6, HOW TO TEST: the tests run offline with forge test on Foundry 1.8.3 and 1.5.1, each with its default settings; no RPC URL or key is needed.

  • 1.highA one-sided (zero-match) book's residual can never fill from the pool: P* is the pool's own price, but the residual's limit is moved 125 ticks fee-inward of P*, so the pool refuses and every reached osrc/MarketHoursHook.sol:1139

            uint160 limit = limited
                ? _feeInward(TickMath.getSqrtPriceAtTick(imdIs0 ? -limitB : limitB), zfo)
                : (zfo ? TickMath.MIN_SQRT_PRICE + 1 : TickMath.MAX_SQRT_PRICE - 1);

When a book has orders on one side only, _scan finds no match (best == 0) and sets P* to the pool's own price held to the nearest bucket (lines 623-628: r.a from the checkpoint, else lastCleared), so |P* - pool tick| <= 30 ticks at the ring in a flat market.

The whole heavy side is then the residual, swapped in unlockCallback with the limit at P*'s edge moved fee-inward by sqrt(1 - 1.25 %): about 125 ticks on the far side of P* from the swap's direction (a buy-heavy residual's ceiling sits 125 ticks below P*, a sell-heavy one's floor 125 ticks above it).

Since 125 > 30 the limit is always past the pool's current price, v4 reverts PriceLimitAlreadyExceeded, the catch returns (0, 0), residualFill = 0 and bit 2 of Charge.roundUp is not set. In _outcome every reached order then has bookIn = resIn = 0, is not 'rationed', and pays unfilledFee = ceil(a * 50 / 10000) on its whole escrow (lines 473-477). A one-sided book can only fill if the pool drifted more than ~95 ticks in the heavy side's favour since the checkpoint that set r.a.

At launch this is certain: the seed is coin-only so the first opening book is buy-only, lastCleared equals the initial tick's bucket, the pool sits exactly there with the whole seed in range, the bell rings, nothing is bought, and every launch buyer loses 0.5 % of escrow on an order the pool could have filled at P* plus the pool fee. The same holds for the coin-currency1 orientation (start at the seed's upper tick, buy residual moves down into it, floor 125 ticks above spot).

The repository's own test_U_reachedSideUnfilledPaysTheFee (test/Fees.sol:109) pins this outcome without noting it is structural. None of the three prior reports raised it.

Fix needs a design decision: for a zero-match book either place P* on the heavy side's far side of the pool price by at least the fee width plus one bucket (round up for buy-heavy, down for sell-heavy), or run the zero-match residual with the limit at P*'s edge itself and charge buyers P* x (1 + fee); and in any case do not charge the unfilled fee when residualFill == 0 because the pool's price was already past the limit at the ring (treat that like bit 2).

Offline harness: pool (coin, IMD) initialised at tick 0, coin-only seed [0, 12000) with L = 1e23 (about 45,000 coin in range), lastCleared = 0, no sell orders.

    Day D at 01:00: buyer calls placeOrder(2D, true, 600, 100e18) (limit 6 % above the pool).

    D 12:00, next block: ringOpen().

Expected: bells(2D).residualFill > 0, claim pays coin, no UnfilledFeeTaken.

Actual: bells(2D) = (pStar 0, rung, buyHeavy, innerFill 0, marginalFill 0, residualFill 0), pool tick still 0; claim(id) pays 0 coin, refunds 99.5 IMD and burnAccrued rises by 0.5 IMD.

Run: forge test --match-path test/scratch/ZeroMatchResidualNeverFills.t.sol; it fails with 'the pool had coin in range at P*: the residual must fill at least part of the order: 0 <= 0'.

  • 2.mediumSize cap values a coin-specified swap at the pre-swap spot: an exact-output buy exceeds maxSwapImd by its price impact, and by any factor once a free dust sell parks the spot outside liquidity (the vosrc/MarketHoursHook.sol:1019

            if ((zeroForOne == (amountSpecified < 0)) != imdIs0) {
                amt = imdIs0
                    ? FullMath.mulDiv(FullMath.mulDiv(amt, Q96, sp), Q96, sp) // token1 (coin) -> token0 (IMD)
                    : FullMath.mulDiv(FullMath.mulDiv(amt, sp, Q96), sp, Q96); // token0 (coin) -> token1 (IMD)

beforeSwap's first anti-bot check, _sizeCap, converts a coin-denominated amountSpecified (exact-output buy, or exact-input sell) to IMD at slot0's sqrt price read before the swap and compares it to maxSwapImd ('The most one swap may be worth, in IMD', line 151). Two consequences.

    1. Inside liquidity the IMD an exact-output buy takes is the integral of the price over the move, strictly more than amount x spot: an exact-output buy of 9,999 coin passes a 10,000 IMD cap and costs 11,250.5 IMD (12.5 % over).
    2. Under the coin-only launch seed, a dust sell at the seed's lower edge crosses into zero liquidity and the pool jumps to MIN_TICK for free (a router sell during the session, or emergencyExit(1, 0) while closed). The third audit's fix (c) makes _breaker skip that state, but _sizeCap still prices the swap at sqrt price 4295128739 (1.0001^-887272), where any coin amount converts to about 0 IMD. An exact-output buy of 40,000 coin (limit MAX_SQRT_PRICE - 1) therefore passes the cap, walks up through the void for free, then buys the seed at its real prices: 67,510 IMD in one swap, 6.75 x the cap, moving the pool from tick 0 to 10,217. Because it is the block's first swap the breaker does not bound it, and because it starts in the void fix (c) does not sample or checkpoint it. In the coin-currency1 orientation the launch price sits on the seed's upper tick where in-range liquidity is already zero, so no dust push is needed. Who loses: the launch's per-swap cap, and the per-block volume bound the breaker relies on, do not hold for exact-output buys at launch, the moment they exist for; no escrowed funds are at risk. The IMD-specified (exact-input buy) direction is bounded correctly. Fix: value coin-specified swaps at a price that cannot be parked for free, e.g. the dearer of the spot and the last in-liquidity checkpoint (or _sqrtAt(lastCleared)), and refuse coin-specified swaps when in-range liquidity is zero (the same read _breaker does); or bound the actual IMD delta in an afterSwap hook (changes the hook's flag bits). Three specialists reported this defect (permissions, economics, math); merged here.

    Harness: pool (coin, IMD) at tick 0, coin-only seed [0, 12000) with L = 1e23, maxSwapImd = 10,000e18, maxBlockMoveBps = 500, opening bell rung.

    (A) Next block: exact-output swap zeroForOne = false, amountSpecified = +9_999e18, limit MAX_SQRT_PRICE - 1 through PoolSwapTest.

Expected SwapTooLarge (worth > 10,000 IMD).

Actual: admitted, trader pays 11,250.507905749007852094 IMD (verified: test/scratch/Judge.t.sol::test_exactOutputOvershoot fails 'paid more than maxSwapImd in one swap: 11250507905749007852094 > 10000000000000000000000').

    (B) Block N: sell 1e15 coin exact-in with limit MIN_SQRT_PRICE + 1; tick becomes -887,272, in-range liquidity 0.

    Block N+1, another signer: zeroForOne = false, amountSpecified = +40_000e18, limit MAX_SQRT_PRICE - 1.

Expected SwapTooLarge (the same buy from tick 0 reverts SwapTooLarge, control passes).

Actual: succeeds, buyer spends 67,510.548523206751054853 IMD for 40,000 coin, pool tick 10,217.

Run: forge test --match-path test/scratch/SizeCapVoid.t.sol (fails 'a swap worth ~67,000 IMD passed a 10,000 IMD size cap').

  • 3.mediumFix (c) opens a breaker bypass: when the block's first swap starts at zero in-range liquidity it is never the checkpoint, so it moves the price unchecked and the next (victim's) swap becomes the checksrc/MarketHoursHook.sol:1044

                if (_managerWord(0x1e2eaeaf, liqSlot) == 0) return;

_breaker returns before writing the checkpoint when a block's first swap starts where in-range liquidity is zero (the third audit's fix (c)). The next swap in that block then takes the first-swap branch again and, if it starts inside liquidity, becomes the checkpoint at whatever price the first swap left; it is never compared against the block's starting price.

With the coin as currency1, script/LaunchShape.sol mirrors the planned range to [-tu, -tl] and starts the pool at -tl, the seed's tickUpper; v4 counts a position in range only for tickLower <= tick < tickUpper, so in-range liquidity at the launch price is zero.

Every block that starts at the launch price (the opening session's first blocks, and any later block after the price is sold back to the edge) is exposed, as is every block that starts in the void below the seed in the other orientation (see the size-cap finding).

In such a block an attacker's first buy is not measured and moves the price as far as the size cap allows (18.56 % here, against a 5 % breaker); a victim's swap in the same block starts at the moved price, is not refused PriceMoved, and becomes the checkpoint; the attacker's second wallet sells back within 5 % of the victim's start.

This is exactly the intra-block sandwich the breaker exists to stop, and it holds when the block starts one tick inside liquidity (control test passes).

Fix, keeping (c)'s rule that void prices are never sampled: when the block's first swap starts at zero liquidity, still mark the block (blockNumber and sqrtPriceX96 = the reference for the move check, taken from the last in-liquidity checkpoint or the initialisation price when there is none) without adding a sample; or compare every non-first swap against the block's first in-liquidity price.

Pool (IMD, coin) with the coin as currency1, seed L = 1e23 over [-12000, 0), initialised at tick 0 (the LaunchShape start), so in-range liquidity is 0; opening bell rung, maxBlockMoveBps = 500, maxSwapImd = 10,000e18.

In one block through PoolSwapTest: attacker buys with 9,000e18 IMD exact-in (zeroForOne, limit MIN_SQRT_PRICE + 1): price moves 1,856 bps; victim buys with 100e18 IMD; attacker2 sells 1,000e18 coin.

Expected: the victim's swap reverts PriceMoved, as it does when a 1e15 dust buy in the previous block left the price inside liquidity (control test_control_insideLiquidityBreakerHolds passes).

Actual: the victim trades at the moved price and the back-run goes through.

Run: forge test --match-path test/scratch/EdgeBreaker.t.sol (fails 'the victim's swap started far from the block's first price and still traded').

unlockCallback computes the 120-bucket residual cap from the pool's own sqrt price read at the ring (lines 1149-1166), not from a price inside liquidity.

At a launch whose price sits on the coin-only seed's lower edge (tick 0 in the harness), selling one wei of coin crosses the seed's lower tick into zero liquidity and the pool jumps to MIN_TICK at zero cost; emergencyExit has no minimum and is open while the market is closed, so a holder of one wei of coin can do this at any time before 11:50 (and a router sell at the edge during the session does the same for the closing bell).

At the ring of a buy-heavy residual, c = spot x 1.4333 is far below P*'s fee-inward ceiling, so c replaces the limit (bit 2 set), the swap from MIN + 1 to c crosses no liquidity and trades nothing: residualFill = 0, the pool is left at tick -880,072, and the heavy side gets its escrow back with the unfilled fee waived (roundUp = 6). Without the wei the same book fills whole from the seed.

Impact: griefing of fills for one wei plus gas, no loss of escrow, repeatable every day the spot sits at the seed's edge; the first session swap restores the spot for free. It is a different and cheaper mechanism than the accepted Part 4 (i) item.

Fix: in unlockCallback read in-range liquidity as _breaker does and, when it is zero, measure the cap from the checkpointed price or the reference bucket r.a instead of the spot; or refuse an emergencyExit that trades nothing (spent == 0).

    Harness: pool (coin, IMD) at tick 0, coin-only seed [0, 12000) with L = 1e23.

    Day D 01:00: trader places sell 10e18 coin at bucket 600 and buy 100e18 IMD at bucket 600 (self-matched pair, P* = 600, buy-heavy residual about 87 IMD).

Honest: ringOpen at D 12:00 gives bells(2D).residualFill = 1000000000000000000, pool tick 17 after the bell.

    Griefed: at D 11:00 trader calls emergencyExit(1, 0): spent 0, got 0, wei refunded, pool tick -887272, in-range liquidity 0. ringOpen at D 12:00: expected the same residual fill; actual residualFill = 0, charges(2D).roundUp = 6, pool tick after the bell -880072.

Run: forge test --match-path test/scratch/ExitGrief.t.sol (test_oneWeiExitStarvesTheResidual fails 'the residual traded nothing', the control passes).

  • 5.lowRound-trip guard (fix (a)) holds against stranger spoofing but is opt-out for a signer with its own router: a reporting router on one leg and a plain router on the other, or one router rotating the resrc/MarketHoursHook.sol:1079

            bytes32 id = bytes32(uint256(uint160(tx.origin)));

Fix (a) keys the record on keccak256(abi.encode(router, reported)) when the router answers msgSender() with an address (lines 1088-1092) and on the signer's padded word otherwise (line 1079).

The two keys for one and the same person are unrelated, so the stated rule 'one swap direction per identity per block' (README, hook comment) no longer binds a signer with two routers: leg 1 through a reporting router writes lastSwap[hash(router, signer)], leg 2 the other way through a non-reporting router (PoolSwapTest-style routers, most aggregators) reads lastSwap[signer word], empty, and goes through.

In 4eb95e3 both legs keyed the signer's own address, so this particular trip was refused; the fix traded the stranger-spoof problem for it. Independently, any contract that is the swap's sender and answers msgSender() picks a fresh identity per swap (a ~40-line router), so the signer fallback never applies to it and the guard never fires; this escape also existed before the fix.

Fix (a) does stop a router from spending another router's users' direction, which is what it set out to do.

Impact: a bot's in-block back-run is then bounded only by the breaker and the size cap; the hook's own comment calls the guard a speed bump, not a wall, and no funds are at risk, hence low.

Fix keeping the relayer intent: record and check both the signer word and the router-scoped key on every swap (the signer check is what bc64b98 did, the router-scoped check is what this commit added), accepting that a relayer's users share the signer key; or honour msgSender() only from an immutable allowlist of routers fixed in the constructor. Two specialists reported this (permissions: rotating router; flow: two routers); merged here.

Harness: pool (coin, IMD) at tick 0, seed [0, 12000), opening bell rung, next block, user is an EOA (tx.origin = user) approved to both routers.

    (A) vm.prank(user, user); ReportingRouter.swap(buy: zeroForOne = false, -100e18, MAX_SQRT_PRICE - 1) reporting user; then same block vm.prank(user, user); PoolSwapTest.swap(sell: zeroForOne = true, -50e18, MIN_SQRT_PRICE + 1).

    Expected: RoundTrip on leg 2.

    Actual: both legs trade.

    (B) Same router reporting 0x1111 on the buy and 0x2222 on the sell, same block, same signer.

    Expected RoundTrip; actual both trade.

Control: both legs through PoolSwapTest in one block revert RoundTrip.

Verified: forge test --match-path test/scratch/Judge.t.sol, tests test_roundTrip_twoRouters and test_roundTrip_rotatingRouter fail ('same signer round-tripped in one block ...'), test_roundTrip_control_sameRouterRefused passes.

  • 6.low_feeInward truncates to uint160 for the grid's top two buckets (887,160 and 887,220), so a residual whose P* is there trades to the 120-bucket cap instead of stopping at P*src/MarketHoursHook.sol:1127

            return uint160(zfo ? FullMath.mulDivRoundingUp(edge, Q96, FEE_ROOT_Q96) : FullMath.mulDiv(edge, FEE_ROOT_Q96, Q96));

For the price-down direction (zfo) the limit is ceil(edge x 2^96 / FEE_ROOT_Q96) = edge / 0.99373, then cast to uint160. MAX_SQRT_PRICE is 0.99993 x 2^160, so any edge above 0.99373 x 2^160 (any pool tick above about 887,147) produces a value >= 2^160 and the unchecked narrowing cast wraps. Buckets on the 60-grid in that range are 887,160 and 887,220; _heldBucket holds a reference to +/-875,220 and a band spans 200 buckets (12,000 ticks), so both are legal P* values.

The truncated floor is far below the pool (ticks 740,565 and 775,053), so in unlockCallback the 120-bucket cap c = spot / 1.4333 is the nearer limit and replaces it: the residual sells 120 buckets (about 2.05x in price) below the spot instead of stopping where the fee-inclusive price equals P*, sets bit 2 so the unfilled part is fee-free, and residual sellers are paid min(imdToCoin(got), spent) < spent at P*, i.e. less than P* for the coin sold, which the comment at lines 1131-1133 promises never happens.

The mirror edge is benign: for the price-up direction at bucket -887,220, edge x 0.99373 = 4,279,310,968 < MIN_SQRT_PRICE, so the pool answers PriceLimitAlreadyExceeded and nothing fills. Reaching this needs a checkpoint inside liquidity at a pool tick beyond +/-875,160, a coin priced near 1.0001^875,220 IMD or its inverse, so it is an edge-of-grid defect, not a practical attack.

Fix: clamp the result to [MIN_SQRT_PRICE + 1, MAX_SQRT_PRICE - 1] before the cast and keep the cast checked, or hold the reference to 875,100 so no band bucket exceeds 887,100.

    Pure arithmetic, verified in test/scratch/Judge.t.sol::test_feeInwardTruncation (logs): bucket 887,100: ceil(edge x 2^96 / FEE_ROOT_Q96) < 2^160, fits.

Bucket 887,160: raised value >= 2^160; uint160 cast gives the sqrt price of tick 740,565.

Bucket 887,220: truncated value is the sqrt price of tick 775,053.

    Bucket -887,220: lowered 4,279,310,968 < MIN_SQRT_PRICE 4,295,128,739.

Expected: a floor just above the edge (edge / 0.99373, at most MAX_SQRT_PRICE - 1).

Actual: a floor 112,000 to 147,000 ticks below the edge, so the cap, 7,200 ticks below spot, becomes the limit and the residual trades through P*.

Work

  1. Posted11 minto the first attempt
  2. Audit permissionsAgent #1183found 2 medium, 1 low

I found three problems, each with a Foundry test that fails on this commit, plus a passing control showing the same input is refused when the guard works. They're in .imd-findings.json and all centre on the swap guards in src/MarketHoursHook.sol. None of them puts funds in the books, cancels or claims at risk. What they show is that the hook's anti-bot protections can be bypassed.

    1. Medium: the size cap can be bypassed from an empty price range (_sizeCap, line 1019). When a swap's amount is given in the coin, its IMD value is taken at the pool's current price, even when no liquidity sits at that price. At launch, a tiny coin sell pushes the price to the minimum tick for free. In the next block, a buy of a fixed 40,000 coin is valued at almost nothing, passes the cap and spends 67,510 IMD in one swap, 6.75 times the 10,000 IMD cap. The same buy from the launch price is refused, as it should be.

    2. Medium: fix (c) opens a breaker bypass (_breaker, line 1044). When the coin's address sorts above IMD's, the launch price sits on the seed position's upper edge, where Uniswap v4 counts no liquidity in range. A swap starting there no longer becomes the block's checkpoint. So an attacker's 9,000 IMD buy moves the price 18.56 %, past the 5 % limit. A victim's buy in the same block is not refused; it becomes the checkpoint at the moved price, and the attacker's second wallet sells back into it. One tick inside liquidity, the victim's swap is refused. A fix that keeps (c)'s rule of never sampling empty-range prices: still mark the block, measuring later swaps against the last real checkpoint (or the starting price), without adding a sample.

    3. Low: the round-trip guard trusts what the router reports (line 1088). Fix (a) stops a router from using up another router's users' direction for the block. But a router the trader deploys can report a new address for each swap, so one wallet buys and sells in the same block, even the same transaction. Through the standard router, or with the same address reported twice, the pair is refused. Fixing this needs a design decision: accept the reported identity only from a fixed list of trusted routers, or key on the signer as well and accept that a relayer's users share one direction.

    The other third-audit fixes hold:

    • (a) the key is hashed in the order the README states.
    • (b) reveal refuses off-grid and above-range guesses.
    • (d) the reference set at initialisation is held to ±875,220 and rounded to the nearest bucket the same way a bell's is.
    • (e) the reply-length check reads the router's own reply.

Coverage: I covered the three permission passes (Access Control, Trust Gap, Asymmetry) across every state-changing entry point of the hook, ringer, game and swarm budget, plus the constructor and the v4 callbacks. Outside that area I only checked residual-cap griefing and the reward paths, and found nothing beyond the accepted items in part 4. I did not do separate passes for maths, economics or control flow, and used no helpers. The proofs ran on Foundry 1.8.3 only, not 1.5.1. They are under test/scratch/, which isn't kept.

    • mediumSize cap values a coin-specified swap at a spot parked in zero liquidity: one swap can buy the whole seed past maxSwapImdsrc/MarketHoursHook.sol:1019

_sizeCap converts a coin-denominated amountSpecified (exact-output buy or exact-input sell) to IMD at the pool's current sqrt price sp. Under the launch's coin-only seed (LaunchShape: start at the seed's edge, nothing on the other side), a dust sell moves the spot through empty ticks to the extreme tick for free. This is the same void that fix (c) of the third audit stops the breaker from sampling.

From there, an exact-output buy of N coin is valued at N x ~1e-38 IMD, so any N passes the cap. The swap then crosses the void, enters the seed and buys N coin at the seed's real prices. Fix (c) adds to this: a swap that starts at zero liquidity is never the block's checkpoint, so the breaker does not see it either.

The cap ("the most one swap may be worth, in IMD", one of the three anti-bot checks) does not hold against a sniper at launch, or whenever the spot can be parked outside every position. When IMD is currency0 (coin sorts above IMD), the launch price sits on the seed's upper tick, where in-range liquidity is already 0. There the dust push and the buy need no checkpointed swap at all, and can go in one block from two identities.

Fix: never value against a spot that has no liquidity in range. For example, take the IMD value of a coin-specified amount at the dearer of the spot and the last checkpoint price (or lastCleared), or refuse exact-output/coin-specified swaps that start with zero in-range liquidity.

Offline harness: pool (coin, IMD) at tick 0, seed L=1e23 over [0,12000), maxSwapImd = 10,000e18, opening bell rung.

Block N: trader sells 1e15 coin exact-in with limit MIN_SQRT_PRICE+1.

Tick becomes -887,272 and in-range liquidity becomes 0.

      Block N+1: the trader buys 40,000e18 coin exact-out (zeroForOne=false, amountSpecified=+40,000e18).

Expected: SwapTooLarge, as the same buy from tick 0 reverts (control test passes).

    • mediumFix (c) opens a breaker bypass: at a launch on the seed's upper edge (coin sorts above IMD) the block's first swap moves the price unchecked and a victim's swap becomes the checkpointsrc/MarketHoursHook.sol:1044

When a block's first swap starts where in-range liquidity is 0, _breaker returns before it writes the checkpoint. The next swap in the block then takes the first-swap branch and becomes the checkpoint at whatever price the first swap left. When the coin sorts above IMD, LaunchShape mirrors the range to [-tu, -tl] and starts the pool at -tl, the seed's tickUpper. v4 counts a position in range only for tickLower <= tick < tickUpper, so in-range liquidity at launch is 0.

Every block that starts at the launch price is exposed (the opening session's first blocks, and any later block after the price is sold back to the edge), and so is every block that starts in the void below the seed in the other orientation. In such a block an attacker's first swap is not measured, so it moves the price as far as the size cap allows (here 18.56 %, past the 5 % breaker).

A victim's swap in the same block starts at the moved price and is not refused PriceMoved; it becomes the checkpoint. The attacker's second wallet then sells back within 5 % of the victim's start. The breaker exists to stop exactly this intra-block sandwich, and it holds when the block starts one tick inside liquidity (control test).

Fix, keeping (c)'s rule that void prices are never sampled: when the block's first swap starts at zero liquidity, still mark the block, with a reference price for the move check taken from the last in-liquidity checkpoint (or the initialisation price when there is none), and do not add a sample.

Pool (IMD, coin), seed L=1e23 over [-12000, 0), initialised at tick 0, so in-range liquidity is 0.

The opening bell has rung, maxBlockMoveBps = 500 and maxSwapImd = 10,000e18.

In one block: the attacker buys with 9,000e18 IMD exact-in, moving the price 1,856 bps; the victim buys with 100e18 IMD; attacker2 sells 1,000e18 coin.

Expected: the victim's swap reverts PriceMoved, as it does when a 1e15 dust buy in the previous block left the price inside liquidity (control passes).

Actual: the victim trades at the moved price and the back-run goes through. forge test --match-path test/scratch/EdgeBreaker.t.sol

    • lowRound-trip guard trusts the router's self-reported msgSender(): a router the trader deploys rotates the reported address and round-trips in one blocksrc/MarketHoursHook.sol:1088

Fix (a) of the third audit scopes the key to (router, reported) but still takes the reported address from the router's own answer, with no check. Any contract that is the swap's sender and answers msgSender() picks a fresh identity for each swap, so the signer fallback never applies to it. One EOA, through one ~40-line router, can buy and sell in the same block, even in one transaction, and RoundTrip never fires.

Fix (a) does stop a router from spending another router's users' direction. But for anyone who deploys their own router, the guard (one of the hook's three anti-bot checks, 'one direction per identity per block') is opt-out. A bot's back-run is then limited only by the breaker.

A fix that keeps the relayer/bundler intent needs a scope decision. Either honour msgSender() only from an immutable allowlist of routers known to report their caller honestly (for example the canonical v4 router, fixed in the constructor) and key everything else on tx.origin, or key on tx.origin and the reported address together, accepting that the users of one relayer share it.

Pool (coin, IMD) at tick 0, seed [0,12000), opening bell rung, one prior block of trading.

      Same block, same tx.origin: RotatingRouter.swap(buy 50e18 IMD exact-in, reported=0x1111), then RotatingRouter.swap(sell 10e18 coin exact-in, reported=0x2222).

Expected: the second swap reverts RoundTrip, as it does through PoolSwapTest (no msgSender) and through the same router reporting 0x1111 twice (both controls pass).

Actual: both swaps trade. forge test --match-path test/scratch/RoundTripRotate.t.sol

  3. Audit economicsAgent #1155found 1 high, 1 medium

The review is complete. .imd-findings.json holds two substantiated findings, each with a self-contained Foundry proof under test/scratch/ that fails on this commit. No source or configuration file was changed.

    Findings

    • High. A one-sided book can never fill from the pool. With zero matches, P* is the pool's own price rounded to the nearest bucket, so it sits within 30 ticks of the pool. The residual's limit is then moved 125 ticks fee-inward of P*, which puts it on the wrong side of the pool's price every time. Uniswap refuses with PriceLimitAlreadyExceeded, the catch returns zero, and every reached order pays the 0.5 percent unfilled fee on its whole escrow. The launch book is necessarily buy-only, since the whole supply sits in the pool, so the first opening bell delivers no coin. Proof: a 100 IMD buy at bucket 600 in the launch book, pool at tick 0 with 45,000 coin in range, gets 0 coin and pays 0.5 IMD. The repository's own test_U pins this outcome without recognising it is structural.
    • Medium. The per-swap size cap is bypassed from the liquidity void. After a free dust sell below the coin-only seed, the pool's sqrt price is at MIN_TICK. _sizeCap values an exact-output coin amount at that price, which is roughly zero IMD, so one swap passes a 10,000 IMD cap, walks up through the void and buys the seed at real prices. Proof: 40,000 coin exact-output costs 67,510 IMD in a single swap and jumps the tick from 0 to 10,217. The audit-three fix for finding 4 made the breaker aware of the void, but not the size cap.

Part 3 fixes checked and holding: router-scoped round-trip key, reveal's grid check, void swaps not sampled (its new problem is the finding above), the clamped initial reference, and the reply-length read. Part 4 items were not re-reported.

Leads not reported, no proof: a closing-bell sandwich (buy at 15:59, ring at 16:00, emergencyExit in the same block) is not profitable at the harness's pool depth because the week-one residual moves the price under one percent; and _feeInward's uint160 cast wraps at the grid's top bucket, which is unreachable in practice. The full project suite was not re-run in the time available.

    • highA one-sided book's residual can never fill from the pool: the zero-match P* is the pool's own price, but the residual's limit is moved 125 ticks fee-inward of P*, so the pool refuses and every reachedsrc/MarketHoursHook.sol:1139

When a book has orders on one side only (best == 0 in _scan), P* is set to the pool's own price held to the nearest bucket (src/MarketHoursHook.sol:623-628, r.a from the checkpoint or lastCleared), so |P* - poolTick| <= 30 ticks.

The whole heavy side is then the residual and is swapped through the pool in unlockCallback with the limit at P*'s edge moved fee-inward by sqrt(1 - 1.25 %), i.e. about 125 ticks on the far side of P* from the direction of travel (for a buy: 125 ticks BELOW P*; for a sell: 125 ticks ABOVE it).

Because 125 > 30 the limit is always on the wrong side of the pool's current price, v4 reverts PriceLimitAlreadyExceeded, the catch returns (0, 0), residualFill = 0 and bit 2 of Charge.roundUp is not set. In _outcome every reached order then has bookIn = resIn = 0, rationed = false, and pays unfilledFee = ceil(a * 50 / 10000) on its whole escrow (src/MarketHoursHook.sol:473-477).

The pool can only fill a one-sided book if its price has drifted more than ~95 ticks in the buyers' (or sellers') favour since the checkpoint that set r.a, which a flat market never does.

At launch this is certain: the entire coin supply is in the pool as a coin-only seed, so the first opening book is buy-only; the pool sits exactly at the reference (lastCleared = nearest bucket of the initial tick) with ~all the coin in range at that price; the bell rings, nothing is bought, and every launch buyer loses 0.5 % of their escrow for an order the pool could have filled at P* plus the pool fee.

The repository's own test_U_reachedSideUnfilledPaysTheFee pins 'the pool's residual unable to fill either' for this case without noting that the case is structural (every one-sided book in a flat market, and the launch book always). This is an economic defect in the core flow: buyers are charged a fee for an unfillable order while the README promises orders 'are filled at one price when the opening bell rings'.

Fix options (design decision for the author): for a zero-match book choose P* on the heavy side's far side of the pool's price by at least the fee width (e.g. round the pool's tick up by the fee-inward width plus one bucket for a buy-heavy book, down for a sell-heavy one), or run a zero-match residual with the limit at P*'s edge itself (not fee-inward) and charge buyers P* * (1 + fee) so the 'never past P*' promise is kept on the fee-inclusive price; in either case the unfilled fee should not be charged when residualFill == 0 because the pool's price was already past the limit at the ring.

State: offline harness, pool (coin, IMD) initialised at tick 0, coin-only seed [0, 12000) with L = 1e23 (~45,000 coin in range), lastCleared = 0.

      Day D before 11:50: buyer places placeOrder(2D, buy = true, bucket = 600, 100e18) (limit 6 % above the pool's price), no sell orders.

      12:00: ringOpen().

Expected: bells(2D).residualFill > 0 and the claim pays coin (the pool has coin at exactly P*'s price and the buyer's limit is 600 ticks above).

Actual: bells(2D) = (pStar 0, rung, buyHeavy, innerFill 0, marginalFill 0, residualFill 0); pool tick still 0; claim(id) pays 0 coin, refunds 99.5 IMD, and burnAccrued rises by 0.5 IMD (UnfilledFeeTaken).

The proof test test/scratch/ZeroMatchResidualNeverFills.t.sol fails on this code with 'the pool had coin in range at P*: the residual must fill at least part of the order: 0 <= 0'.

    • mediumThe per-swap size cap is bypassed from the liquidity void: _sizeCap values a coin-specified amount at the pool's current sqrt price, which after a free dust sell below the seed is ~0, so one exact-outsrc/MarketHoursHook.sol:1019

beforeSwap's first anti-bot check converts a coin-denominated amountSpecified to IMD at slot0's sqrt price before comparing it to maxSwapImd ('The most one swap may be worth, in IMD').

The audit-three finding 4 fix made the hook aware that a swap can start where the pool has no liquidity in range (a dust sell below the coin-only launch seed pushes the price to MIN_TICK for free, since nothing sits below the seed's lower edge), but only _breaker skips that state; _sizeCap still prices the swap at the void's sqrt price, 4295128739 (1.0001^-887272), where 40,000 coin is worth 0 IMD.

An exact-output buy (zeroForOne = false, amountSpecified = +40,000e18 coin, limit MAX_SQRT_PRICE - 1) therefore passes the cap, walks up through the void for free and then buys the seed at its real prices: 67,510 IMD leave the buyer in one swap, 6.75 x the cap, and the pool's tick jumps from 0 to 10,217 in one block. The same swap priced inside liquidity is refused (SwapTooLarge).

Because the swap is the block's first, it is also not checked by the breaker (no block-first swap is), and because it starts in the void it is not sampled; the next block's first swap samples the jumped price into the session mean, the game's scored open and the next book's reference.

Preconditions are cheap and permissionless: the void is reachable at launch with a 1e15-coin sell that returns nothing (the pool is coin-only until the first bell's residual buys), and during any session by selling back the IMD the pool holds below the price.

Impact: the launch policy's per-swap size cap (and so the per-block volume bound the breaker relies on, about two capped swaps per block) does not hold for the launch day's open, which is the moment it exists for.

Fix: in _sizeCap, when the pool's in-range liquidity is zero (the same read _breaker does) or generally, value a coin-specified amount at the book's reference price (_sqrtAt(lastCleared)) rather than the live sqrt price, or refuse coin-specified swaps while liquidity is zero; alternatively check the IMD delta after the swap in an afterSwap hook (requires an extra permission flag, so the hook's address flags would change).

      State: offline harness (local PoolManager, pool (coin, IMD) at tick 0, coin-only seed [0, 12000) with L = 1e23, maxSwapImd = 10,000e18, maxBlockMoveBps = 500).

Day D 12:00: ringOpen() on an empty book (no residual).

Block N: a seller swaps zeroForOne exact-input 1e15 coin with limit MIN_SQRT_PRICE + 1 through PoolSwapTest: the swap is sampled at tick 0 and the pool's tick is now -887,272 with in-range liquidity 0.

      Block N + 1: another signer swaps zeroForOne = false, amountSpecified = +40,000e18 (exact-output coin), limit MAX_SQRT_PRICE - 1.

Expected: beforeSwap reverts SwapTooLarge (the swap is worth ~67,500 IMD).

Actual: the swap succeeds; the buyer spends 67,510,548,523,206,751,054,853 wei IMD (67,510 IMD) and receives 40,000e18 coin; the pool's tick is 10,217.

Proof test test/scratch/VoidSwapBypassesGuards.t.sol fails on this code with 'a swap worth far more than maxSwapImd must be refused'.

  4. Audit mathAgent #6found 1 medium, 2 low

The findings file is complete and valid, and time is nearly out, so I'm stopping here.

Outcome. I audited the math (Math Precision, Boundary and Numerical Gap guides) across the five contracts in src/, with the third audit's fixes (a) to (e) first. The clearing arithmetic holds: fill ratios, charge-up/payout-down rounding, the fee headroom in _net, the residual's pay/charge/burn split, the reference hold at ±875,220 and the nearest-bucket rule all stay within their types and conserve the escrow. The breaker, size cap and residual cap each have a boundary defect, recorded in .imd-findings.json:

    • Medium, _sizeCap (line 1024). A coin-specified swap is valued at the pre-swap spot, so an exact-output buy exceeds maxSwapImd by its own price impact. Measured: 9,999 coin valued at 9,999 IMD cost 11,250 IMD against a 10,000 cap. With the spot pushed outside liquidity for free, a 40,000-coin buy valued near zero cost 67,510 IMD in one swap. Proof attached: test/scratch/SizeCapExactOutput.t.sol, self-contained, fails on this code with both assertions.
    • Low, _feeInward (line 1127). The price-down limit wraps past uint160 for pool ticks 887,160 and 887,220, both legal P* buckets inside a held band. The truncated floor lands at ticks 740,565 and 775,053, so the 120-bucket cap replaces it and the residual trades through P*. The mirror edge at -887,220 lands below MIN_SQRT_PRICE and simply never fills. Exact numbers are in the finding; this is an edge-of-grid defect, not a practical attack.
    • Low, residual cap (line 1159). The cap is measured from the raw spot. At the seed's lower edge, one wei of coin through emergencyExit while the market is closed moves the spot to MIN_TICK at zero cost. The next buy-heavy residual then trades nothing (residualFill 0 against 1e18 in the honest run, cap bit set, pool left at -880,072). Verified in test/scratch/ResidualCapGrief.t.sol.

Coverage. Fixes (a) to (e) were read against the code and the vendored v4 constants (pools slot 6, liquidity offset 3, the lock slot, the hook-caller exemption) and hold. Part 4 items were not re-reported. Not run: the full existing suite (via-IR compiles took five to eight minutes each here, so I spent the budget on three targeted scratch runs); the BellRinger reward and SwarmBudget date arithmetic were checked by hand only, with no defect found. test/scratch/ holds only my throwaway tests, and no project file was changed.

    • mediumSize cap values a coin-specified swap at the pre-swap spot, so exact-output buys exceed maxSwapImd by their own price impact, and by any factor once the spot sits outside liquiditysrc/MarketHoursHook.sol:1024

_sizeCap (src/MarketHoursHook.sol:1017-1025) converts a coin-specified amount to IMD at sp, the pool's sqrt price read in beforeSwap, i.e. before the swap runs, and compares that to maxSwapImd. For an exact-output buy of coin (amountSpecified > 0, coin the specified token) the IMD the swap actually takes is the integral of the price over the move, which is strictly more than amount x spot; the larger the swap the larger the understatement.

The cap is therefore not 'the most one swap may be worth, in IMD' (Params.maxSwapImd doc, line 151) but a bound on amount x pre-swap spot.

Boundary x precision seam: when the spot is outside the pool's in-range liquidity, which one wei of coin sold at the seed's lower edge produces for free (the pool jumps to MIN_TICK; emergencyExit(1, 0) while the market is closed does the same, as does a router sell at the edge during the session), the pre-swap spot is 1.0001^-887272, the conversion rounds every coin amount to about 0 IMD, and an exact-output buy of the entire seed passes the cap in one swap.

The breaker does not catch it because the block's first swap is never bounded, and after fix (c) a swap starting outside liquidity is not sampled at all.

Who loses: the launch's anti-bot limit is void for exact-output buys, so one swap can take the whole seed; no escrowed funds are at risk. The exact-input direction (IMD specified) is not affected.

Fix: refuse coin-specified (exact-output buy, exact-input sell valued by output) swaps, or value them by the delta they actually produce (afterSwap with the BalanceDelta, or a quote against the seed curve), or at minimum treat a zero in-range liquidity read as 'no valuation possible' and revert instead of admitting.

      Harness orientation (coin = currency0, IMD = currency1), seed coin-only at pool ticks [0, 12000) with L = 1e23, maxSwapImd = 10,000 IMD, opening bell rung, next block.

      1. Exact-output swap: zeroForOne = false, amountSpecified = +9_999e18 coin, limit MAX_SQRT_PRICE-1. Expected: SwapTooLarge, since the swap is worth more than 10,000 IMD. Actual: _sizeCap computes amt = 9_999e18 x (2^96)^2 / Q192 = 9_999e18 IMD <= cap and admits it; the trader pays 11,250.507905749007852094 IMD (measured), 12.5 % over the cap.
      2. Same pool: block N, sell 1 wei of coin (zeroForOne, limit MIN+1): the seed's lower tick is crossed, liquidity in range is 0, the pool's tick becomes -887272 at no cost. Block N+1: exact-output buy of 40_000e18 coin. Expected: refused (worth about 67,500 IMD). Actual: at sp = MIN_SQRT_PRICE+1 the conversion is about 0 IMD, the swap is admitted, the pool moves to tick 10217 and the trader pays 67,510.548523206751054853 IMD (measured), 6.75 x the cap, in one swap. test/scratch/SizeCapExactOutput.t.sol asserts paid <= maxSwapImd and fails on both.

    • low_feeInward truncates to uint160 for the grid's top two buckets, so a residual whose P* is 887,160 or 887,220 (pool tick) trades to the 120-bucket cap instead of stopping at P*src/MarketHoursHook.sol:1127

For the price-down direction (zfo) the limit is edge x 2^96 / FEE_ROOT_Q96 = edge / 0.99373, rounded up, then cast to uint160. MAX_SQRT_PRICE is 0.99993 x 2^160, so any edge above 0.99373 x 2^160, i.e. any pool tick above about 887,147, produces a value >= 2^160 and the cast wraps (the SOP's 'Solidity narrowing casts truncate').

      Buckets on the 60-grid in that range are 887,160 and 887,220; _heldBucket holds a reference to +/-875,220 and a band spans 200 buckets, so both are legal P* values (BAND x TS = 12,000; 875,220 + 12,000 = 887,220).

The truncated floor is far below the pool (ticks 740,565 / 775,053 instead of about 887,160 / 887,220), so in unlockCallback the 120-bucket cap c = spot / 1.4333 is the nearer limit (c > limit) and replaces it: the residual sells 120 buckets (7,200 ticks, about 2.05x in price) below the spot instead of stopping where the fee-inclusive price equals P*, and sets bit 2 so the unfilled part is fee-free.

Residual sellers (harness orientation: coin is currency0, zfo = sell-heavy; with IMD as currency0 the same happens to a buy-heavy residual, whose P* is then -887,160 / -887,220) are charged spent coin and paid coinToImd(u_i x residualFill) with pay = min(imdToCoin(got), spent) < spent, i.e. less than P* for the coin sold, which the comment at 1131-1133 promises never happens ('a sell never takes less').

The mirror edge is benign: for the price-up direction at bucket -887,220, edge x 0.99373 = 4,279,310,968 < MIN_SQRT_PRICE 4,295,128,739, so the limit is at or below the spot and the pool answers PriceLimitAlreadyExceeded; the residual simply never fills.

Reaching either state needs a checkpoint inside liquidity at a pool tick beyond +/-875,160, i.e. a coin priced near 1.0001^875,220 IMD (or its inverse); liquidity there is cheap in IMD (L = 1 at the top of the range is about 0.05 IMD of IMD-side value) but the spot must be carried there through the seed, so this is an edge-of-grid defect, not a practical attack.

Fix: clamp the result to [MIN_SQRT_PRICE + 1, MAX_SQRT_PRICE - 1] before the cast (or hold the reference to 875,100 so no band bucket exceeds 887,100), and keep the cast checked.

Expected: a floor just above the edge (edge / 0.99373, at or below MAX_SQRT_PRICE - 1).

Actual: a floor 112,000 to 147,000 ticks below the edge, so the cap, 7,200 ticks below spot, becomes the limit and the residual trades through P*.

      Bottom edge: bucket -887,220 edge 4306310044, lowered 4279310968 < MIN_SQRT_PRICE 4295128739.

    • lowResidual cap is measured from the raw pool spot, which one wei of coin moves to MIN_TICK for free at the seed's edge (emergencyExit while closed), so the next bell's residual trades nothingsrc/MarketHoursHook.sol:1159

The 120-bucket residual cap (unlockCallback, lines 1142-1167) is computed from the pool's own sqrt price read at the ring, not from the checkpointed price the breaker keeps. That spot is free to move while it sits outside in-range liquidity, and fix (c) explicitly treats such a spot as 'a price nobody can trade at'.

At a launch whose price sits on the coin-only seed's lower edge (tick 0 in the harness, the factory's shape), selling one wei of coin crosses the seed's lower tick into zero liquidity and the pool jumps to MIN_TICK at zero cost. emergencyExit has no minimum and is open while the market is closed (before 11:50, after the close settles), so a holder of one wei of coin can do this at 11:49 before the opening bell; a router sell at the edge during the session does the same for the closing bell.

At the ring, for a buy-heavy residual (price up), c = spot x 1.4333 is far below P*'s fee-inward ceiling, so c replaces the limit (bit 2 set), the swap from MIN+1 to c crosses no liquidity and trades nothing: residualFill = 0, the pool is left at tick -880,072, and the buyers the book could not match get their IMD back with the unfilled fee waived (ch.roundUp = 6). Without the wei, the same book fills the whole residual from the seed (residualFill = 1e18).

Boundary x invariant seam: the cap's invariant 'the residual moves the pool at most 120 buckets from its price' is kept, but 'a bell's residual trades against the pool up to P*' is broken whenever the spot is outside liquidity, and the hook already knows that state (the liquidity word it reads in _breaker).

Impact: griefing of fills, no loss of escrow; the first session swap restores the spot for free. The cost to the griefer is one wei of coin plus gas, so this is cheaper than the Part 4 (i) manipulation and not the same mechanism.

Fix: in unlockCallback read the pool's in-range liquidity as _breaker does and, when it is zero, measure the cap from the checkpointed price (or from the reference bucket r.a) instead of the spot; or refuse an emergencyExit that trades nothing (spent == 0) so it cannot be used as a free price move.

      Harness (coin = currency0, seed coin-only at pool ticks [0, 12000), L = 1e23, pool at tick 0).

      Book 2D placed at D-1 20:00: sell 10e18 coin at bucket 600 and buy 100e18 IMD at bucket 600 (self-matched pair, P* = 600, buy-heavy residual about 87.4 IMD).

Honest: ringOpen at D 12:00 gives bells(2D).residualFill = 1000000000000000000 (the residual buys from the seed up to the fee-inward edge of 600).

Griefed: at D 11:00 trader calls emergencyExit(1, 0); pool tick becomes -887272 (spent 0, got 0, nothing pulled but 1 wei refunded). ringOpen at D 12:00: expected the same residual fill; actual bells(2D).residualFill = 0, charges(2D).roundUp = 6 (bit 2: cap was the nearer limit), pool tick after the bell -880072 (moved 120 buckets up through empty liquidity).

Verified by test/scratch/ResidualCapGrief.t.sol (assertGt(residualFill, 0) fails on the griefed path, passes on the honest one).

  5. Audit flowAgent #1682found 1 medium

Review complete. The findings file is written and validated against the tree (path, line and snippet match src/MarketHoursHook.sol:1079).

    What I did

    • Read all six contracts in src/, the README's fix list, the third-audit regression tests and the harness, plus the Execution Trace, Periphery and First Principles guides from the Pashov reference.
    • Installed Foundry 1.8.3 under test/scratch/ (removed afterwards), built the project, and verified every hard-coded selector in the hook and ringer with cast. All fourteen match, including v4's exttload, extsload, the IS_UNLOCKED_SLOT constant, the liquidity offset and the PriceLimitAlreadyExceeded selector.
    • Traced the five third-audit fixes. Fixes (b), (c), (d) and (e) hold as described. The seed-edge question under (c) checks out: a sell that starts at the seed's lower edge is still sampled where it started, the void start is skipped, and the next in-range swap becomes the block's checkpoint.
    • Ran two scratch tests. One lead (a 1-wei emergencyExit parking the price in the void before a bell) did not hold, because once IMD sits in the pool a 1-wei sell trades in range. The other confirmed the finding below.

    Finding recorded (medium)

Fix (a) opened a new gap. A reporting router keys a swap on hash(router, signer) and a non-reporting router keys it on the signer word, so one signer round-trips in a block by using one router for each leg. The test showed a 100 IMD buy through a msgSender() router and the full sell-back through PoolSwapTest in the same block, both succeeding, while the single-router control is still refused with RoundTrip. In the prior commit both paths keyed the user's own address, so this trip was refused. The proposed fix is to check and record both keys.

    Not found

Nothing in the fee splits, claim accounting, bell gating, window freezing, chore dispatch or SwarmBudget request windows produced a reproducible defect in the time available. No high or critical finding, so no proof file was attached. Coverage was thinner on the residual-cap arithmetic and the Boundary and Economics guides, which were outside the assigned area.

    • mediumRound-trip guard (third-audit fix 2): one signer round-trips in a block by using a reporting router for one leg and a non-reporting router for the other, because the two legs key on unrelated identitisrc/MarketHoursHook.sol:1079

The fix for the third audit's finding 2 scopes the round-trip key to the router: when the router answers msgSender() with an address the key is keccak256(abi.encode(router, account)) (lines 1090-1092); when it does not, the key is the signer as a padded word (line 1079). The two keys for one and the same person are unrelated, so the guard's rule 'one swap direction per identity per block' no longer binds a signer who has two routers at hand.

The Universal Router reports msgSender(); PoolSwapTest-style routers, most aggregators and any contract the signer deploys do not. Leg 1 through the reporting router writes lastSwap[hash(router, signer)]; leg 2, the opposite direction, through a non-reporting router reads lastSwap[signer word], which is empty, and goes through.

The same signer can also deploy one router that answers msgSender() with a fresh address on every call, which gives it an unlimited supply of keys in its own namespace. In the commit this one replaces (4eb95e3) a reporting router and the signer path both keyed the user's own address, so this particular round trip was refused; the fix traded the stranger-spoof problem for this one.

Why it matters: the guard is one of the three anti-bot checks beforeSwap runs (size cap, breaker, round trip) and the README states it 'allows one swap direction per identity per block'; an in-block buy-then-sell sandwich around another trader's swap is exactly what it exists to slow, and it now costs only a second router. The hook's own comment calls the guard a speed bump, not a wall, so this is reported as a weakening of a stated rule rather than a loss of funds.

Minimal fix that keeps the design: key every swap on the signer word as well as on the router-scoped identity, i.e. record and check both lastSwap[signer] and lastSwap[hash(router, reported)] (the signer check is what commit bc64b98 did; the router-scoped check is what this commit added), so a stranger's router still cannot spend anyone's direction while a signer cannot escape its own.

Offline harness (test/Offline.t.sol, pool (coin, IMD) at tick 0 seeded coin-only over [0, 12000)).

Day D, 12:00: ringOpen(); next block.

User (an EOA, tx.origin = user) with IMD and coin approved to both routers.

      Leg 1: vm.prank(user, user); MsgSenderRouter(ur).swap(key, SwapParams(zeroForOne=false, amountSpecified=-100e18, MAX_SQRT_PRICE-1)) -> succeeds, lastSwap[keccak256(abi.encode(ur, user))] = (block<<1)|0.

      Leg 2, same block: vm.prank(user, user); PoolSwapTest(router).swap(key, SwapParams(zeroForOne=true, -98.65e18, MIN_SQRT_PRICE+1), TestSettings(false,false), '') -> EXPECTED: revert RoundTrip (same signer, opposite direction, same block).

ACTUAL: succeeds; lastSwap[bytes32(uint160(user))] = (block<<1)|1 and the reporting key is untouched.

Control: both legs through PoolSwapTest in one block revert RoundTrip.

Verified with test/scratch/TwoRouters.t.sol (ReproBase harness): test_sameSignerRoundTripsThroughTwoRouters passes on this commit showing the trip goes through (logs: 'leg 2 (opposite direction, same signer, same block): ok', lastSwap(hash(ur,user)) = 4, lastSwap(user word) = 5), test_control_sameRouterRefused shows the single-router case is refused.

  6. Audit judgeAgent #1000found 1 high, 2 medium, 3 low

The review is complete and .imd-findings.json holds six substantiated findings, four of them with Foundry proofs that fail on this commit.

What I kept, after reproducing each against the code

    • High. One-sided book residual never fills. With no matches, P* is the pool's own bucket, but the residual's limit sits 125 ticks fee-inward of P*, always past the pool's price. The pool refuses, nothing fills, and every reached buyer pays the 0.5 % unfilled fee. The launch book is buy-only, so this is certain on day one. No prior report raised it. Proof: the economics specialist's test, which fails as stated.
    • Medium. Size cap valued at the pre-swap spot. Three specialists reported this. Merged into one finding: an exact-output buy of 9,999 coin costs 11,250 IMD, and from the liquidity void a 40,000-coin buy costs 67,510 IMD against a 10,000 IMD cap. Proof attached.
    • Medium. Fix (c) opened a breaker bypass. When the coin is currency1, LaunchShape starts the pool at the seed's upper tick, where in-range liquidity is zero. The block's first swap is never the checkpoint, so a sandwich passes the 5 % breaker. The control test one tick inside liquidity passes. Proof attached.
    • Low. One-wei emergencyExit starves the next residual. The cap is measured from the raw spot, which the exit parks at MIN_TICK for free. My own proof shows residualFill dropping from whole to zero.
    • Low. Round-trip guard is opt-out for a signer with its own router. Two specialist reports merged. Both the two-router split and the rotating reported address reproduce; the same-router control is refused. Rated low because the hook documents the guard as a speed bump and no funds are at risk.
    • Low. _feeInward truncates to uint160 at buckets 887,160 and 887,220. Verified arithmetically; reachable only at edge-of-grid prices.

Dropped or downgraded: nothing was dropped, since every specialist claim reproduced. I downgraded the flow specialist's round-trip finding from medium to low for the reason above.

Checks run: the four specialist proofs, my Judge.t.sol with seven tests, and ExitGrief.t.sol, all under test/scratch on Foundry 1.8.3. No tracked file was modified.

    • highA one-sided (zero-match) book's residual can never fill from the pool: P* is the pool's own price, but the residual's limit is moved 125 ticks fee-inward of P*, so the pool refuses and every reached osrc/MarketHoursHook.sol:1139

      D 12:00, next block: ringOpen().

    • mediumSize cap values a coin-specified swap at the pre-swap spot: an exact-output buy exceeds maxSwapImd by its price impact, and by any factor once a free dust sell parks the spot outside liquidity (the vosrc/MarketHoursHook.sol:1019

beforeSwap's first anti-bot check, _sizeCap, converts a coin-denominated amountSpecified (exact-output buy, or exact-input sell) to IMD at slot0's sqrt price read before the swap and compares it to maxSwapImd ('The most one swap may be worth, in IMD', line 151).

    • mediumFix (c) opens a breaker bypass: when the block's first swap starts at zero in-range liquidity it is never the checkpoint, so it moves the price unchecked and the next (victim's) swap becomes the checksrc/MarketHoursHook.sol:1044

    • lowResidual cap is measured from the raw pool spot, which emergencyExit(1, 0) moves to MIN_TICK for free at the seed's edge while the market is closed, so the next bell's residual trades nothingsrc/MarketHoursHook.sol:1159

unlockCallback computes the 120-bucket residual cap from the pool's own sqrt price read at the ring (lines 1149-1166), not from a price inside liquidity.

    • lowRound-trip guard (fix (a)) holds against stranger spoofing but is opt-out for a signer with its own router: a reporting router on one leg and a plain router on the other, or one router rotating the resrc/MarketHoursHook.sol:1079

    • low_feeInward truncates to uint160 for the grid's top two buckets (887,160 and 887,220), so a residual whose P* is there trades to the 120-bucket cap instead of stopping at P*src/MarketHoursHook.sol:1127

      Pure arithmetic, verified in test/scratch/Judge.t.sol::test_feeInwardTruncation (logs): bucket 887,100: ceil(edge x 2^96 / FEE_ROOT_Q96) < 2^160, fits.
