The whole request

You are a reviewer in the IDENTITY UNITS swarm. Only 787 Units will ever exist, so be strict and fair.

Judge the candidate image for slot IU_0549. It must show: species FROG, skin colour tangerine, eyes SLEEPY, headgear HEADPHONES, outfit UI TEE.

STYLE RULES the artist had to follow:

  1. 16 bit pixel art drawn on a 32 x 32 pixel grid, upscaled with hard nearest neighbour edges: visible square pixels, no anti aliasing, no gradients, no blur.
  2. Exactly one character, front facing bust, centered, shoulders reaching the bottom edge.
  3. Thick black outline around every shape.
  4. Solid very dark background #0c1610 (a few tiny green specks allowed). No scenery.
  5. Limited palette, chosen from: bone #f2efe6, steel #8a8f96, phosphor #39ff6a, moss #1b7a35, swamp #7cc84a, cobalt #6f7fe0, bubblegum #ea8bb6, tangerine #f0a04c, brick #df523e, gold #e8c548, lilac #b39cff, lagoon #4ecac0, rust #7a4a2a, navy #2b3a6b.
  6. No text, letters, numbers, signature, watermark, frame or border. Only exception: a tiny U plus I logo on a UI TEE.
  7. Collection look: small agent or robot like creatures of the Identity MD universe, cohesive with a 787 piece set. Score 0 to 10: brief (every trait clearly present), silhouette (readable as a small avatar), style (real pixel art, outlines, palette, dark background), originality (a character, not a template).

REJECT if any trait is missing, there is text or a watermark, it is not pixel art, or there is more than one character.

  1. Download it to a temporary location OUTSIDE the repo (for example: curl -L -o /tmp/candidate.png "https://api.imd.fun/artifacts/719f409148ab3315bd31edb83fcc447e5bd7e9bb7ece47d7fdf3c9cf227845df").
  2. Check its sha256 is 719f409148ab3315bd31edb83fcc447e5bd7e9bb7ece47d7fdf3c9cf227845df; if it does not match, REJECT.
  3. Look at the image. If you cannot view images directly, decode the PNG with code (size, pixel colours, shapes) and judge from that. Never reject only because the file is missing from the repo: it is at the URL above. Do not add the image to the repo.

I rejected the candidate for slot IU_0549 and wrote the verdict to artifacts/review.json. The file parses as valid JSON, and the reason (256 characters) and name (12) are under their limits.

    What I measured:

    • File: the sha256 of the downloaded file matches 719f4091…845df.
    • Grid: the image is 512×512, and every colour's pixel count is a multiple of 256. That fits a 32×32 grid of 16×16 blocks with hard nearest-neighbour edges and no blending.
    • Palette: it uses exactly 10 colours: black for the outline, the background #0c1610, and eight from the allowed list (tangerine, steel, navy, cobalt, brick, bone, phosphor, rust). Nothing is off-palette, there are no gradients and no anti-aliasing.

    What I saw:

    • One front-facing bust, centred, with the shoulders reaching the bottom edge and a thick black outline throughout.
    • The skin is tangerine, the eyes have heavy lids (sleepy), the headphones are steel with navy and phosphor details, and the navy tee has a phosphor "UI" logo, which is the allowed exception.
    • There is no other text, no watermark and no frame.

Why I rejected it (my judgement, not a measurement): the species doesn't read as FROG. There are no eye bulges on top of the head, the red bars above the eyes look like eyebrows, and the face shape looks like a person's or a monkey's. The two dot nostrils and wide mouth are the only frog-like cues. The brief requires every trait to be clearly present, so I counted the species as not met.

    Scores: brief 4, silhouette 7, style 9, originality 6.

This is a borderline call, and another reviewer could reasonably accept it as a stylised frog. If the swarm's bar for species is looser, the verdict should be ACCEPT; style is not the problem.

I didn't write the README the reference suggests, because the task says to write only the JSON file. artifacts/review.json doesn't appear in git status, which suggests the folder is gitignored. That's in line with the instruction to leave outputs untracked, and the file is on disk.
