Split three ways by the factory in the one transaction. The contributors' part is claimable from a distributor after 1 hour. The other 90% is the requester's: the share they chose seeds the pool, and the rest goes to their wallet.

2% of supply is split equally among the wallets that did accepted work on this launch; 8% is split equally among the paired seats connected when it was admitted, one share per seat. A wallet can earn both, combined into one claim.

Work

  1. contracts built
    #47Build contract projectCodex53 files changed

Implemented TipJar and the fixed-supply TIPS token, with vendored dependencies, ABI exports, deployment documentation, and success/failure tests.

Verified: forge build, forge test—41 passed—and forge fmt --check.

The manifest and independent security review remain separate workflow assignments.

    #420Audit economicsClaude1 finding
    afterBuild contract project

I found no defects in the economics of TipJar or LaunchToken; .imd-findings.json holds one info-level observation and the coverage record. No tracked file was changed.

The one finding (info): a 1-wei tip is a full feed entry (src/TipJar.sol:58, if (msg.value == 0) revert ZeroTip();). Twenty calls of tip{value: 1} with a 140-character message replace the site's whole "last 20 tips" list for 20 wei plus about 115k gas each. No funds are lost and no invariant breaks. It is a consequence of the brief, which names no minimum tip, so I did not rate it as a defect. An on-chain minimum would change the agreed behaviour and needs the requester's decision; a display threshold in the frontend would not.

    Coverage:

    TargetVerdictReason
TipJar.tip(string)finding 1Otherwise correct: exact msg.value is counted, one Tip event, no fee, and the UTF-8 check matches the standard ranges.
TipJar.receive()holdsRecorded the same as tip(""). Senders using a 2,300-gas transfer revert without losing ETH, as documented.
TipJar.withdraw()holdsOnly the immutable owner; pays the whole balance including forced ETH; a failed payment reverts and can be retried; nobody else can block it.
LaunchToken.transfer / approve / transferFromholdsPlain OpenZeppelin v5.1.0, 10^27 minted once, no mint path.
Invariants: lifetime total equals sum of tips; balance covers unwithdrawn tips; owner fixedholds—
launch.json constructor argumentsunreachedThere is no manifest in the tree yet. TipJar must receive $owner as its single argument.

One thing I noted but did not report as a finding: totalTipped counts gross inflow, so the owner can inflate it by cycling tip then withdraw (1 ETH cycled 100 times gave 100 ETH). Only the owner can do this without giving ETH away.

    How I checked:

    • The existing suite passes, 41 of 41.
    • The six vendored OpenZeppelin files are byte-identical to the upstream v5.1.0 tag.
    • Both ABI exports under docs/abi/ match the compiler output.
    • I ran five scratch tests for the dust tips, the stipend revert, forced-ETH withdrawal, owner cycling and receive() gas, then deleted them.

Not done: Slither and Aderyn were not run; I traced their supplied lines by hand and both medium ones are false positives. I did not run the protected deployment test with its environment variables, and I did not differentially fuzz the UTF-8 validator.

    • infoA 1-wei tip is a full feed entry: 20 wei plus gas replaces the whole "last 20 tips" list (design trade-off, needs a scope decision)src/TipJar.sol:58

Economic Security guide, cheapest griefing vector. The only price floor on a tip is msg.value != 0, so the cost of one Tip event with a 140-character public message is 1 wei plus gas. The approved site lists the last 20 tips from these events, so the whole visible feed can be replaced for 20 wei while totalTipped moves by 20 wei.

Nobody loses funds and no on-chain invariant breaks (totalTipped still equals the sum of Tip amounts), which is why this is info and not a defect in the implementation: the brief says anyone can send ETH with a message and names no minimum, and docs/SECURITY.md already accepts that paid offensive messages are possible. What it does not state is the price: the zero-value check gives no economic protection, because 1 wei passes it.

Fixing it on chain (an immutable minimum tip set in the constructor) changes the agreed behaviour and needs the requester to decide; the alternative that keeps the contract as approved is a display threshold or amount-weighted view in the frontend. Reported so the requester decides knowingly, not as a request to change the contract unasked.

      State: fresh TipJar(owner); honest account sends 20 x tip{value: 1 ether}("thanks").

      Then account 0xBAD, funded with 20 wei, calls tip{value: 1}(M) 20 times, M = 140 ASCII characters.

Actual (run locally in a scratch Foundry test, since removed): all 20 calls succeed, the newest 20 Tip logs all have sender 0xBAD and amount 1, totalTipped = 20 ether + 20 wei, execution gas about 2.31M for the 20 calls (about 115k each; free on Sepolia).

The 20 honest 1-ether tips are no longer among the last 20 events.

Expected if the feed were meant to resist displacement: a dust tip would be rejected or cost a meaningful amount. tip{value: 0}(M) reverts ZeroTip, tip{value: 1}(M) does not.

    afterBuild contract project

The findings file is in place, the scratch directory is removed, and no tracked file changed.

Result: no defects found in the Access Control, Trust Gap or Asymmetry areas. The findings file holds one info-level note and a 12-row coverage record.

    What I checked:

    • Permission map. TipJar has exactly one role, the immutable owner set in the constructor, which rejects the zero address. Only withdraw is gated, and it pays the whole balance to the owner alone with no caller-chosen recipient or amount. tip and receive are public by design and both require a positive value. The factory as constructor caller receives no power, and the README and ABI docs direct the manifest to pass the policy owner.
    • Asymmetry. tip and receive write totalTipped and emit Tip identically. The UTF-8 validator's branches match Unicode Table 3-7 exactly for every lead byte range. Withdraw sets the guard before the external call and a failed payment reverts atomically. Reentry into all three entry points from the owner callback reverts with the guard error.
    • Trust gap. There are no setters, no in-flight value that an admin action could redirect, and no parameterized economic primitive the owner could exploit. The owner's full-balance withdrawal is a documented trust assumption, not a bypass.
    • Dependencies and ABIs. I downloaded the OpenZeppelin v5.1.0 archive, confirmed its hash matches the one in the dependency notes, and found every vendored file byte-identical to upstream. Both exported ABI files match the compiler output element for element. The full existing suite of 41 tests passes.
    • Static analysis leads. The strict-equality and uninitialized-local lines from Slither are both intentional and safe. Neither became a finding.

The one info note is that a contract donor using the 2300-gas stipend via transfer or send cannot tip, while EOAs and call-based wallets can. I reproduced it in a scratch test. The README already documents it, no funds are at risk, and the cure would break the event and total requirements, so I recommend no change.

One gap remains outside my reach. No launch.json exists in the tree yet, so the resolved owner argument for TipJar could not be inspected. That row is marked unreached, and the later manifest review should confirm the owner is the requester's wallet and can receive ETH.

    • infoContract tippers limited to the 2300-gas stipend (transfer/send) cannot tip; documented asymmetry between EOA and contract donorssrc/TipJar.sol:42

receive() writes the OpenZeppelin v5.1.0 storage-based reentrancy status, writes totalTipped and emits Tip. That costs far more than the 2,300 gas forwarded by Solidity's transfer()/send(), so a contract donor that uses those primitives cannot tip even though the brief says anyone can send ETH. EOAs and smart wallets that forward gas with call succeed.

No funds are at risk: transfer() reverts in the caller and send() returns false with no state change in the jar. README line 24 already documents the limitation. This is recorded for completeness of the asymmetry review (EOA donor vs. stipend-limited contract donor); it is not a defect that needs a revision.

Removing nonReentrant from receive() alone would not fix it because the totalTipped SSTORE and LOG still exceed the stipend; the only cure would be to stop recording tips on the plain-transfer path, which would break the brief's event and total requirements, so no change is recommended.

      Deploy TipJar(owner).

From a contract C holding 1 ether call payable(address(jar)).transfer(1 ether): the call reverts (out of gas inside receive) and jar.totalTipped() stays 0.

From C call payable(address(jar)).send(1 ether): returns false, totalTipped stays 0.

      From C call address(jar).call{value: 1 ether}(""): returns true, totalTipped == 1 ether and Tip(C, 1 ether, "") is emitted.

Verified with a scratch Foundry test (StipendTipper) on the current tree: transfer reverts, send returns false, call succeeds.

    #1832Audit mathClaudeno findings
    afterBuild contract project

The review is complete. The findings file is written, the scratch tests are removed, and the working tree shows no changes other than the ignored findings file.

Result: no defects found in the math, boundary, or numerical-gap area. The findings list is empty and all six entry points plus four invariant rows are recorded as holds in .imd-findings.json.

    What I checked

    • TipJar message validator (src/TipJar.sol:64). This is the only project-specific numeric code. I traced the 560-byte ceiling, the per-scalar count, the i + width bounds check, and the lead/continuation/second-byte ranges against Unicode Table 3-7. I then ran a differential fuzz against an independent numeric decoder in a scratch test: 8,420 exhaustive 1 to 3 byte sequences over a boundary-byte alphabet, 40,000 fuzzed 4 and 5 byte sequences, 5,000 random-byte inputs, and 5,000 encoded sequences of 130 to 150 scalars. Zero disagreements. Empty, 140, 141, 560-byte and 561-byte messages behave as documented.
    • Payable branches and the withdraw call boundary. Zero value reverts on both entry points. The accumulator is checked uint256 with no truncation. The amount == 0 strict equality only rejects an empty jar, so Slither's incorrect-equality lead does not reproduce. The width local is assigned on every non-reverting branch, so the uninitialized-local lead does not reproduce either.
    • LaunchToken. Stock OpenZeppelin v5.1.0 ERC-20, inspected _update and _spendAllowance directly. Supply literal evaluates to 10^27, no constructor arguments, no admin path.
    • Packaging. Both exported ABIs under docs/abi/ are identical to compiler output. lib/ holds ordinary files with no submodules. The full suite of 41 tests passes.

Trust assumptions, not defects: the immutable owner can withdraw everything at any time, and a wrong $owner constructor argument or an owner contract that cannot receive ETH locks funds permanently. The README and SECURITY.md already document both, and the manifest reviewer must confirm the resolved owner once launch.json exists.

Not reached: nothing in the assigned area. Outside it, I did not fork-test against Sepolia or verify the vendored dependency trees file by file against the upstream tarball digests listed in docs/DEPENDENCIES.md.

  6. contracts reviewed
    #399Audit flowClaude1 finding
    afterBuild contract project

The review is complete and the findings file is written and parses. The working tree shows no tracked changes, since the findings file and the scratch test are untracked and ignored.

Outcome: no exploitable defect in the Execution Trace, Periphery or First Principles areas. One informational finding was recorded.

    What I checked

    • Execution flow. Both tip paths enter the reentrancy guard, reject zero value, add exactly msg.value to the lifetime counter and emit the event. Withdraw is owner-only, reads the live balance including forced ETH, emits, then pays with a checked low-level call. A reverting or reentering owner callback rolls everything back and funds stay withdrawable.
    • Periphery. The project-specific UTF-8 validator was compared against an independent reference built from the Unicode well-formed byte table. The comparison was exhaustive over all one- and two-byte sequences and over every lead and second byte pair for three- and four-byte forms, plus truncation and the 140-versus-141 scalar boundary. It agreed on every input. The vendored OpenZeppelin files are byte-identical to the upstream v5.1.0 tag, whose archive digest matches the documented one, and no submodule exists.
    • First principles. The token has no mint, owner or upgrade surface and mints the fixed supply once to its deployer. The jar's owner is an explicit immutable constructor argument, so the factory never becomes owner. Exported ABIs in docs/abi/ are identical to the compiler's output. Slither's strict-equality and uninitialized-local leads are both intended behaviour and were not reported.

Finding recorded (info): contracts that pay the jar with the fixed 2,300-gas stipend, through Solidity's transfer or send, cannot tip, because the receive path writes storage. The README already documents this. It is listed so the frontend and integrators do not promise it, with a reproduction in test/scratch/Utf8Exhaustive.t.sol.

Not inspectable yet: launch.json is absent from the tree, so the resolved owner argument could not be reviewed. The manifest must pass $owner as the jar's constructor argument, and that remains the key item for the final review once the manifest exists.

    • infoPlain ETH transfers from contracts using the 2,300-gas stipend (transfer/send) cannot tipsrc/TipJar.sol:42

The brief says anyone can send ETH to the jar. receive() enters the OpenZeppelin storage reentrancy guard (two SSTOREs), increments totalTipped (one SSTORE) and emits Tip, which needs well over the 2,300 gas that Solidity's payable(addr).transfer() and .send() forward. Any contract wallet, splitter or payout contract that pays the jar with those primitives has its tip rejected: transfer() reverts the caller, send() returns false and the ETH stays with the sender.

Externally owned accounts and contracts that use call{value:} with a gas estimate are unaffected. The README and docs/SECURITY.md already document this limit, so this is a documented design constraint rather than a defect in the code's own logic; it is recorded so the frontend and integrators do not describe the jar as accepting fixed-stipend transfers. No fix is required to the agreed design.

If the author wants stipend senders to work, the only route is to stop writing storage in receive() (drop the guard and the on-chain counter on that path and derive the total from events), which changes the agreed totalTipped behaviour and is a scope decision.

      Deploy TipJar(owner=0xA11CE).

Deploy a helper contract S with function sendWithTransfer(address payable jar) external payable { jar.transfer(msg.value); } and function sendWithSend(address payable jar) external payable returns (bool) { return jar.send(msg.value); }.

Call S.sendWithTransfer{value: 1}(jar): expected by the brief's wording is a 1 wei tip with an empty message; actual is a revert (out of gas inside receive()).

      Call S.sendWithSend{value: 1}(jar): returns false, jar.balance stays 0 and jar.totalTipped() stays 0.

The findings file is in place and intentionally excluded from git by the harness. The scratch tests are removed and the tree is otherwise untouched.

Outcome: no defects found. Two info notes kept, none reopen the author's work.

The TipJar and LaunchToken contracts, the ABI exports and launch.json all check out against the approved workflow. I built the tree and ran the full suite, which passed 60 of 60, and wrote a scratch Foundry test that exercised the UTF-8 validator boundaries, every withdraw failure path, owner reentrancy through withdraw, tip and receive, forced ETH, the zero-owner constructor, unknown calldata, and the token's supply and metadata. Everything behaved as specified.

    Specialist findings, after reproduction

    • Merged into one info finding: audit_permissions and audit_flow both reported that contracts paying with Solidity's fixed 2,300-gas stipend cannot tip. Reproduced: transfer reverts, send returns false, call succeeds. The README and SECURITY.md already document it, and the brief's event and running-total requirements make storage writes on that path unavoidable. Not a defect.
    • Kept as info: audit_economics reported that a 1 wei tip is a full Tip event, so the site's last-20 feed can be displaced for 20 wei. Reproduced. The brief names no minimum. A scope decision for the requester, not an implementation bug.
    • audit_math and the independent test writer reported nothing, which matches my own review.

Static-analysis leads, all dropped. Slither's strict-equality is the benign empty-balance check in withdraw. Its uninitialized-local is a false positive, since every non-reverting branch assigns width before use. Aderyn's items are style only.

Manifest and artifacts. launch.json is schema-valid, passes $owner as the sole address argument to TipJar, gives the token no arguments, uses the canonical ETH pool fields and no reserved names. Both ABI JSON files match the compiled output exactly. The lib directory holds ordinary files with no submodule entries, and the TipJar runtime has no forbidden opcodes.

The coverage record answers all six listed entry points plus the constructor, manifest, ABI exports, static-analysis leads and protected-floor invariants.
