Build and deploy SqueekPet: Living Evolution, a beautiful, fully playable virtual hamster game for Squeekchain Genesis Code.

Campaign: https://squeekchain.com/genesis/code

API docs: https://docs.squeekchain.com/developers/api/

CONCEPT

One real hamster powers thousands of virtual lives. Players adopt, care for and evolve a virtual hamster whose world reacts to Squeektoshi's REAL wheel activity. Build a genuine interactive game, NOT a landing page, dashboard, mockup or unfinished prototype.

VISUAL DESIGN

Create a premium 16-bit pixel-art game inspired by Tamagotchi and Stardew Valley. Adorable animated hamster, cozy detailed bedroom, pastel green/cream palette, day/night lighting, smooth animations and delightful interactions. Mobile-first responsive UI. Use original SVG/CSS/canvas artwork rather than broken image placeholders.

CORE GAMEPLAY

  • Adopt a free hamster, customize appearance and name.
  • Animated habitat with Feed, Play, Sleep, Clean and Exercise actions.
  • Functional hunger, happiness, energy, cleanliness, XP and levels.
  • Actions change stats, trigger animations and follow cooldown rules.
  • Stats evolve over elapsed time; pets cannot permanently die.
  • Persistent progress via IndexedDB, surviving page refresh.
  • Earn fictional Acorns through gameplay; spend them on food and room decorations.
  • Implement a small functional shop with equipable items.

REAL SQUEEKCHAIN INTEGRATION — ESSENTIAL

Fetch real data from https://api.squeekchain.com/v1/status and /v1/events using documented response schemas.

Read measurement.coreStatus, rpmMilli, distanceMm, freshness, observedAt and provenance.

Convert rpmMilli / 1000 into actual RPM.

Display real wheel speed, activity and measurement time with an animated wheel. Show hardware, simulated, replay, stale and unavailable states accurately. Never fabricate telemetry or treat missing data as zero. Respect API cache intervals and rate limits.

LIVING EVOLUTION — UNIQUE FEATURE

Real Squeektoshi activity influences the pet's world:

  • Verified active wheel readings activate temporary boosts.
  • Real wheel activity triggers habitat visual changes.
  • Players collect unique Wheel Memories associated with real event timestamps.
  • Memories unlock new visual evolution stages.
  • Store processed event IDs to prevent duplicate rewards.
  • No artificial progress from offline or simulated readings.

Use simple deterministic rules. Explain evolution progress clearly. Gameplay must remain possible when the API is offline.

PLAYABLE MINI-GAME: WHEEL RUNNER

Create a real arcade game using Canvas or React:

  • Hamster jumps over obstacles.
  • Space, click and mobile touch controls.
  • Increasing difficulty, score, restart and game-over.
  • Collect seeds and earn capped Acorns.
  • Verified live wheel activity provides a temporary score bonus.
  • Fully playable without wallet or API access.

DYNAMIC PET CARD

Generate a downloadable PNG card showing hamster appearance, name, level, evolution stage and achievements. Appearance changes with actual game progression. Add a Share on X button. This is NOT an NFT or financial asset.

UX AND TECHNICAL QUALITY

Use React, TypeScript and Tailwind CSS. Create functional navigation for Home, My Pet, Wheel Runner, Evolution and Shop.

Include loading states, error handling, accessibility, responsive layouts and reliable persistence. No fake buttons, placeholder pages, invented statistics or simulated AI features.

Wallet connection is unnecessary for the core game. Do not require signatures, token approvals or payments.

MANDATORY DELIVERY

Build the actual production-ready game and deploy it publicly using IMD. Verify adoption, pet actions, persistence, mini-game, shop, API requests, offline handling, mobile controls and PNG export.

Keep the IMD job reference for Genesis Code verification. Do not claim campaign approval.

PRIORITY

Finish working pet care, polished habitat, real API integration, Living Evolution and Wheel Runner FIRST. Add shop and pet card only when core gameplay works.

If something cannot be completed, report it honestly rather than displaying fake functionality.

Deliver the live website URL and a concise implementation/test report.

Make this a delightful, original game people genuinely want to play. When the real hamster runs, the virtual world comes alive.

Saved four verified findings in .imd-findings.json. Website files are unchanged.

    1. High — bug: the 320px runner start panel covers the score and control instructions. A 265px panel overflows its 190px game field in Chromium and WebKit. The finding includes a verified CSS adjustment.
    2. Medium — bug: Shop bypasses the failed-load guard and overwrites the saved pet. After a transient IndexedDB read failure, “Adopt to shop” can replace an intact saved hamster.
    3. Medium — accessibility: resuming from the lower runner control makes Space pause instead of jump. Resume leaves keyboard focus on the Pause button.
    4. Medium — bug: the save indicator claims success after an IndexedDB write fails. “Saved on this device” remains visible while the save-error warning appears.

Validation passed: 14 rule tests, 22 Chromium checks, and 23 WebKit checks. Ten additional mobile accessibility scans reported no violations; manual testing found the overlap and keyboard issue. Runner’s probe contrast flags concern disabled controls and were not reported as defects.

Both public endpoints returned HTTP 200 in Chromium. Active-wheel and milestone branches were tested with isolated fixtures against the documented API; no live running milestone occurred during review.

The visual idea is coherent: a cozy pixel bedroom becomes a shared living world when the real hamster runs.

“Missing” below includes required behavior that exists but fails in the reported state. Component filenames refer to src/components/.

    • highbug: the 320px runner start panel covers the score and control instructionssrc/styles.css:223

Now: the absolutely centered start panel is taller than the narrow canvas, so it paints over the score values above and the keyboard/touch instructions below.

Change to: at max-width:390px, hide the decorative .runner-overlay .pixel-icon, use var(--text-lg) for the overlay h2, and set .runner-overlay>div padding to 12px 17px. This reduces the existing panel to 155px at 320px and keeps it inside the 190px field; keep all instructions and the Start button.

Why: the brief requires a mobile-first, responsive, fully playable mini-game; its score and controls must remain readable without overlapping surfaces.

At 320×844 in Chromium or WebKit, open #runner in a fresh browser and wait for Start running.

No adoption or API is needed.

      The runner field occupies y=304.09–494.17 (190.08px), but .runner-overlay>div occupies y=266.45–531.83 (265.38px).

It extends 37.64px above and 37.66px below the field, visibly hides all three score values, and covers #runner-instructions at y=512.17–530.17.

Expected: the panel fits within the field and the score and control instructions stay visible.

Applying only the proposed CSS in the browser yields panel y=321.63–476.63, with no overlap.

    • mediumbug: Shop bypasses the failed-load guard and overwrites the saved petsrc/App.tsx:62

Now: after a saved-pet read fails, Home disables adoption, but Shop still opens adoption through purchase(); saving a new identity overwrites the existing IndexedDB record, including a valid pet left intact by a transient read failure.

Change to: apply the existing loaded && !loadError guard to purchase(), every Shop adoption button, and saveIdentity(); leave the original record untouched until loading succeeds.

Why: the brief requires reliable persistent progress and error handling; a recoverable read failure must not offer a path that silently replaces the saved pet.

At 390×844 in Chromium, adopt Original, Feed and Play, then wait for saving: IndexedDB squeekpet-living-evolution → progress → pet contains version 1, XP 27 and 38 Acorns.

Before reload, install an init script that wraps IDBObjectStore.prototype.get, throwing new DOMException("Temporary read failure", "UnknownError") only for the first get on the progress store, then delegating to the original method.

      Reload.

The warning says "Temporary read failure"; Home adoption is disabled and a subsequent direct read confirms Original is still stored intact.

Open Shop, select any "Adopt to shop" button, name the pet Replacement and submit.

Actual: the dialog opens and the valid Original record is overwritten by Replacement, XP 0, 30 Acorns and reset care counts.

Expected: every adoption entry point remains blocked after a failed load, preserving the original record until loading succeeds.

This also reproduces with an unsupported saved-record version.

    • mediumaccessibility: resuming from the lower runner control makes Space pause instead of jumpsrc/components/Runner.tsx:103

Now: the lower Resume control changes mode without returning focus to the canvas. The global Space/ArrowUp handler ignores focused buttons, so Space immediately activates Pause again instead of jumping.

Change to: when the lower control resumes, call canvas.current?.focus() after changeMode("running"), as the overlay Resume run button already does.

Why: Wheel Runner explicitly promises Space controls; keyboard play must continue after the provided pause/resume interaction.

At 390×844 in Chromium, open Wheel Runner, choose Start running, click the lower Pause button and then the lower Resume button.

      Press Space.

Actual: document.activeElement remains the lower button and the "A little breather." overlay and "Resume run" button reappear; the run pauses rather than jumping.

Expected: focus returns to the canvas, Space jumps, and the run continues.

Also reproducible using Tab and Space to operate the lower pause/resume control.

    • mediumbug: the save indicator claims success after an IndexedDB write failssrc/App.tsx:75

Now: the save rejection handler sets saving=false and saveError, but the desktop header still displays the success icon and "Saved on this device" whenever a pet exists.

Change to: have saveError take precedence in the existing indicator, with the text "Changes not saved" and no success check; show "Saved on this device" only after the pending version commits successfully.

Why: reliable persistence and honest error states require the visible save status to reflect the failed write.

At 1440×844 in Chromium, adopt a pet and wait for its save.

Force IDBObjectStore.prototype.put to throw new DOMException("Quota exceeded", "QuotaExceededError") for the progress store, then click Feed.

Actual: the warning says "Progress could not be saved" while .save-indicator says "Saved on this device" with a check icon; the UI shows 33 Acorns but IndexedDB still holds 30 and counts.feed=0.

Expected: the status reports unsaved changes until a successful retry.

Restore the method, reload without retrying, and the displayed Feed reward is lost, confirming the write failed.

Reproduced and fixed all four findings. Rebuilt dist/ and added .imd-responses.json.

All four previous findings are fixed in Chromium and WebKit:

    • Runner overlap: the 320px start panel measures 155px inside its 190.08px field. Scores and instructions remain unobstructed.
    • Shop overwrite: all seven adoption buttons remain disabled after transient reads and unsupported record versions. The original pet retains 27 XP and 38 Acorns; loading recovery works.
    • Resume keyboard focus: both pointer and keyboard Resume return focus to Canvas. Space jumps without pausing.
    • Save status: failed writes show “Changes not saved” without a success icon. Retrying commits the reward, which survives refresh.

Validation passed: 22 interaction checks, five regression scenarios in each browser, and 16 taste checks. Accessibility scans found zero violations across all five routes and help. Both public API endpoints returned HTTP 200 with fresh hardware at rest; active-wheel branches were verified with isolated schema fixtures.

.imd-findings.json contains {"findings":[]}. Application files are unchanged.
