Release Swarm Cats on Sepolia as an evm_project: the standard launch token named Loom, symbol LOOM, plus the SwarmCats ERC-721 collection contract. Build it, test it, obtain the independent review, deploy it on Sepolia (chain id 11155111) through the launch pipeline as an evm_project launch with one artifact, SwarmCats, constructor arguments static, then publish the mint site against the attested deployed address.

Swarm Cats is a 10,000-piece ERC-721 PFP collection whose art was drawn by the IMD swarm, deploy the contract on Sepolia, then publish a one-page mint site against the live deployment.

Contract SwarmCats: ERC-721 with efficient batch minting (ERC721A pattern or equivalent), name 'Swarm Cats', symbol 'SCAT', hard cap MAX_SUPPLY = 10000, token IDs 1..10000. Minting is free but every token minted pays a fixed protocol fee MINT_FEE = 0.0005 ether, so mint(uint256 quantity) is payable and requires msg.value == MINT_FEE * quantity. Each mint splits the fee immediately: 40% to CREATOR, 40% to PLATFORM, 20% to RESERVE (three addresses set in the constructor).

Max 5 tokens per wallet across all mints. Owner ($owner) can: setBaseURI(string), setUnrevealedURI(string), setRevealSeed(bytes32) once (stores an oracle-provided seed and emits Revealed), freezeMetadata() which is one-way and blocks setBaseURI forever, pause/unpause minting. tokenURI returns unrevealedURI when baseURI is empty, else baseURI + tokenId + '.json'.

The owner sets PROVENANCE_HASH (bytes32) once via setProvenanceHash, only while totalSupply is 0; it emits ProvenanceSet and can never change. Implement ERC-2981 royalties at 5% to CREATOR. No owner mint beyond the public rules except reserveMint(uint256) capped at 100 tokens total for the team.

Events: Minted(address,uint256 firstId,uint256 quantity), Revealed(bytes32), MetadataFrozen(). Full Foundry tests and an independent adversarial review. Then a mint site: connect wallet, show minted/10000, show the fee per token, quantity 1-5, mint button, show the user's tokens, link to the contract on Etherscan.

Transfers are plain ERC-721 transfers with no fee, tax or limit.

The art and metadata are already generated off-chain and will be pinned to IPFS after deployment, so baseURI starts empty and is set later by the owner; do not generate art. Constructor arguments are fixed: name 'Swarm Cats', symbol 'SCAT', maxSupply 10000, mintFee 500000000000000 wei, maxPerWallet 5, provenance hash is not known at deploy time: the owner sets it once via setProvenanceHash(bytes32), callable only while totalSupply is 0, and it is immutable afterwards. creator, platform and reserve all equal $owner for this test release. Use OpenZeppelin or ERC721A from a pinned release. No upgradeability, no proxy.

Build, test and review SwarmCats (ERC-721 collection, no ERC-20), deploy it on Sepolia as an evm_contracts launch, then build the mint site against the live deployment.

  3. Audit mathAgent #1001found nothing

The review is complete. The findings file is written and validated, the scratch tests are removed, and the tree holds only .imd-findings.json as new content.

Outcome: no defects found in the Math Precision, Boundary, or Numerical Gap areas. The findings file at .imd-findings.json contains an empty findings list and 25 coverage rows, one for each of the 20 listed entry points plus five invariant and lead rows.

What I checked, with execution rather than reading alone:

    • Fee split is exact for every legal quantity on both mint paths. The per-token fee is divisible by 100, so the two 40% divisions leave no dust and the reserve remainder is exactly 20%. The contract balance stays zero after every mint.
    • Payment boundaries: zero value, one wei under, and one wei over all revert with the expected error, and the exact amount passes.
    • Supply cap: public and reserve paths together stop at exactly 10,000 with IDs 1 through 10,000. The reserve limit is checked before the cap, and a public sellout leaves the reserve nothing, as the README documents.
    • Per-wallet and reserve counters at their edges: 3+2 passes and 3+3 reverts; 99+1 passes and 99+2 reverts.
    • Royalty rounding: 5% floors to zero below 20 wei, which is dust and non-compounding.
    • The empty base URI sentinel branch on both sides, including resetting to empty before freeze.
    • No overflow is reachable, since quantity is bounded before any multiplication and value is pinned by the equality check.

    Leads examined and dismissed:

    • The aderyn "ETH send to unchecked address" lead: recipients are nonzero immutables, a rejecting recipient reverts the whole mint, and the live owner address has no code on Sepolia. This is the trust assumption already recorded in docs/SECURITY.md.
    • The supply guard in the provenance setter is unreachable because both mint paths require provenance first. It is harmless dead code, not a defect.

Not covered: no launch.json exists in the tree, so the manifest row is marked unreached. The existing suite of 60 tests, the ABI drift check, and the formatter check all pass as delivered.

  4. Audit permissionsAgent #368found 1 low, 1 info

Review complete. The findings file is written at the repository root and no tracked file was changed.

Outcome. The permission model of SwarmCats holds under the Access Control, Trust Gap and Asymmetry guides. I found one low defect and one informational handoff risk, both substantiated.

    What I checked

    • Every owner function has onlyOwner, ownership is two-step, and no storage variable has a weaker second writer. reserveMint mirrors mint on fee, provenance, pause, cap and reentrancy checks. Its 100-token cap is global, so an ownership transfer cannot reset it.
    • Fee recipients and the royalty receiver are immutable and nonzero-checked, so no admin setter can redirect in-flight value. No seam between access and economics lets the owner extract from users.
    • The provenance gate blocks mints until the hash is committed, so the "only while totalSupply is 0" guard cannot be front-run.
    • The constructor uses the explicit owner argument, never msg.sender or tx.origin, and makes no external calls.
    • The full suite passes and the delivered ABIs match the build. The aderyn lead at line 79 is rejected: recipients are immutable and the call result is checked.

    Findings

    1. Low, with proof. ERC721A declares approve, transferFrom and both safeTransferFrom overloads as payable, and SwarmCats does not override them. The delivered ABI lists six payable functions while the ABI documentation says only the two mint functions accept ETH. Any value attached to a transfer or approval is locked forever since there is no receive, withdraw or sweep path. The scratch test under test/scratch fails on the current tree with two assertions.
    2. Info. The README claims the four constructor roles resolve to a specific address that the approved workflow never names. That address has no code, zero balance and nonce 0 on Sepolia. Because the three fee roles and the royalty receiver are immutable, a wrong literal in launch.json would route all fees to a dead address. The manifest must write $owner for all four arguments.

Coverage. All 20 listed entry points have a row, plus rows for the constructor, the fee-conservation invariant and the static-analysis lead. Four rows point to finding 1; the rest hold. Nothing was left unreached.

Not a defect, noted in coverage. freezeMetadata also locks the unrevealed URI, which is wider than the brief's wording but only affects the owner. Mints are gated on provenance, which the brief does not require but which protects the one-time commitment.

    • lowPlain ERC-721 transfers and approvals are payable: ETH sent with them is locked forever, contradicting the ABI documentationsrc/SwarmCats.sol:14

SwarmCats inherits ERC721A v4.3.0 without overriding its approve, transferFrom and both safeTransferFrom functions, which ERC721A declares payable (lib/erc721a/contracts/ERC721A.sol:471, 594, 670, 691). The delivered docs/abi/SwarmCats.json therefore lists six payable functions, while docs/ABI.md:3 states 'only mint and reserveMint accept ETH on SwarmCats' and README.md:45 says 'Unsolicited ETH transfers revert'.

The contract has no receive, withdraw or sweep path, so any value a wallet, marketplace adapter or the mint site attaches to a transfer or approval is accepted and permanently locked in the collection. This is an asymmetry between the two ETH-accepting paths: mint/reserveMint validate msg.value exactly and forward it, the four inherited paths accept any msg.value and do nothing with it. The brief requires transfers to be 'plain ERC-721 transfers'.

Minimal fix that preserves intended behaviour: override the four functions in SwarmCats as public override without payable (ERC721A allows this; the override only narrows mutability) and call super, then regenerate docs/abi/SwarmCats.json and correct docs/ABI.md and README.md. If the payable surface is kept on purpose, the docs must say so and an owner recovery path for forced ETH should be considered.

      State: fresh SwarmCats(owner, owner, owner, owner); owner calls setProvenanceHash(keccak256('art')); alice calls mint{value: 0.0005 ether}(1) and now owns token 1; address(cats).balance == 0.

Call: alice sends transferFrom(alice, bob, 1) with 1 ether attached (any wallet that lets the user set a value, or a frontend bug).

Expected (per docs/ABI.md and a plain ERC-721): the call reverts because the function is nonpayable and alice keeps her ETH.

Actual: the transfer succeeds, token 1 moves to bob, address(cats).balance == 1 ether, and no function can ever move that ether out.

Same with approve(bob, 1) with 0.5 ether attached.

Run: forge test --match-path test/scratch/PayableTransferTrap.t.sol (2 tests fail on this tree: 'transferFrom accepted ETH', 'approve accepted ETH').

    • infoREADME names a concrete owner address for all four constructor roles that the approved workflow does not state and that is unused on SepoliaREADME.md:32

The approved workflow (.imd/reads/workflow.md) says 'creator, platform and reserve all equal $owner for this test release' and names no address; the README asserts $owner resolves to 0x02b4bd9cc103fd502b2f3f601e29e6ae2039ac85. That address has no code, zero balance and nonce 0 on Sepolia (checked via public RPC), so it has never transacted and nothing in this tree ties it to the requester.

All four SwarmCats roles are immutable (owner is two-step transferable, but CREATOR, PLATFORM, RESERVE and the ERC-2981 receiver can never change), so a wrong literal would route 100% of mint fees and all royalties to a dead address with no recovery.

This is not a contract defect; it is a handoff risk for the manifest and admission steps: launch.json must write the symbolic $owner for all four arguments, never this literal, and the service that resolves $owner is the only authority on the value. Reviewer could not verify the README's claim.

Failing state: a launch.json whose SwarmCats constructorArgs copy the README literal ['0x02b4bd9cc103fd502b2f3f601e29e6ae2039ac85', ... x4] instead of ['$owner','$owner','$owner','$owner'], or a $owner resolution that differs from the README.

Then after deployment: any user calls mint{value: 0.0005 ether}(1); 0.0002 ETH goes to CREATOR, 0.0002 to PLATFORM, 0.0001 to RESERVE, all equal to the literal; royaltyInfo(1, 1 ether) returns (literal, 0.05 ether); owner() == literal.

Expected: all of these are the launch's actual owner.

Actual: immutable, unrecoverable routing to whatever the literal was.

Check before admission: resolved $owner equals the requester's intended wallet and the manifest uses $owner, not a literal.

  5. Audit economicsAgent #1299found 1 low, 2 info

The findings file is in place and is the only new path in the tree, excluded by the repository's own git exclude list as the harness expects. No source, test, doc or configuration file was changed.

Outcome: the economic surface of SwarmCats holds. I found no loss of funds, no misdirected payment and no broken invariant. The report carries one low finding and two informational notes, all reproduced with a scratch Foundry test that was removed afterwards.

What I checked in depth against the Economic Security, Invariant and Flow Gap guides:

    • Fee conservation. Every valid mint pays a multiple of 0.0005 ETH, so the 40/40/20 split is exact with no dust, and the contract balance returns to zero after every mint. The three recipients are immutable and all resolve to the launch owner.
    • Recipient liveness. The brick risk from an immutable recipient rejecting ETH does not apply here. The owner address has no code on Sepolia and on mainnet, so it is an externally owned account that accepts plain transfers.
    • Capacity caps. The 10,000 supply, 100 team allowance and 5 lifetime public mints each have a single writer that checks the cap first. There is no burn and no secondary path. The project's own stateful suite agrees.
    • Reentrancy and callbacks. Both mint paths share the guard, ERC721A updates supply before receiver callbacks, and a receiver transferring during the callback cannot restore its allowance.
    • Verifier run. A clean offline build with an empty environment passes all 60 tests, and the exported ABI files match the build.

    Findings written to .imd-findings.json:

    1. Low. Minting is blocked until the owner sets the provenance hash. The brief never asks for this gate, the contract starts unpaused, and the owner account currently holds no Sepolia ETH and has never sent a transaction there. A frontend written to the brief would show an open mint that reverts, and a lost key or early renounce makes minting impossible forever. Flagged as a specification conflict for the judge rather than an exploit.
    2. Info. The team's 100 tokens are not withheld from public supply, and pause also blocks reserve minting. A public sellout leaves the team with nothing. This is documented as intended in the code and README.
    3. Info. Freezing metadata also locks the unrevealed URI, which goes beyond the brief's wording that only base URI setting is frozen.

Coverage. All twenty listed entry points have a row, plus four invariant rows and one manifest row. No launch.json exists yet in the tree. The README's stated constructor arguments of four $owner references match the brief and the declaration order.

    • lowBoth mint paths are blocked until the owner sets the provenance hash, a gate the brief does not specify and that makes mint liveness depend on an owner actionsrc/SwarmCats.sol:161

The approved brief says the owner sets PROVENANCE_HASH once, only while totalSupply is 0, and that the owner's mint controls are pause/unpause. The implementation adds a stricter rule in _checkMint: mint() and reserveMint() revert with ProvenanceNotSet until setProvenanceHash has been called.

The README documents this as a deliberate choice (so an early public mint cannot make the commitment unsettable), but it changes the economics of the launch: a freshly deployed collection cannot sell a single token until the launch owner (0x02b4bd9cc103fd502b2f3f601e29e6ae2039ac85, which on Sepolia today has no code, nonce 0 and a zero balance on the public endpoints ethereum-sepolia-rpc.publicnode.com and sepolia.drpc.org) funds that account and sends a transaction.

The contract also starts unpaused, so the owner cannot use pause() as the only switch: the mint site's 'mint' button reverts with an error the brief never names, and a frontend written to the brief (show minted/10000, quantity 1-5, mint button) will show an open mint that fails. If the owner key is lost or renounceOwnership() is called before setProvenanceHash, minting is permanently impossible (the provenance can never be set by anyone else).

Because the redundant totalSupply()==0 check on setProvenanceHash still exists, the brief's original guarantee ('only while totalSupply is 0') would hold without this extra gate. This is a design deviation rather than a loss of funds: either keep it and record it as an explicit launch step in the handoff, or drop the gate to match the brief literally. Flagged for the judge as a spec conflict to decide, not as an exploit.

State: fresh deployment new SwarmCats(owner, owner, owner, owner), no owner calls yet (this is exactly the state after the factory deploys it).

      Call: alice sends mint{value: 0.0005 ether}(1).

Expected per brief: token 1 minted to alice, 0.0005 ETH split 40/40/20.

      Actual: revert ProvenanceNotSet().

      Same for owner reserveMint{value: 0.0005 ether}(1).

Then owner calls renounceOwnership() (or simply never acts): every later mint reverts forever, and setProvenanceHash is onlyOwner so no one can unblock it.

Verified with a scratch Foundry test: both calls revert with selector ProvenanceNotSet on the unmodified code.

    • infoTeam allowance of 100 is not withheld from public supply and reserveMint is also blocked while paused, so the public can starve the reserve and the owner cannot mint the team allocation during a publisrc/SwarmCats.sol:90

Economic Security guide item 'starve shared capacity': reserveMinted and public mints both draw from the single MAX_SUPPLY cap checked in _checkMint, and nothing holds 100 slots back. In addition reserveMint carries whenNotPaused, so the one tool the owner has to stop the public race (pause) also stops the team. The only window in which the team is guaranteed its 100 is between setProvenanceHash and the first public mint, which on an unpaused contract is a public mempool race.

The README and the NatSpec state this explicitly ('There are no withheld slots: public minting can consume the entire supply first'), and the brief only says reserveMint is 'capped at 100 tokens total for the team', so this is reported as a documented design consequence for the judge to confirm with the requester, not as a defect that must change.

If the requester expects a guaranteed team allocation, the fix is either to exclude reserveMint from whenNotPaused or to check public mints against MAX_SUPPLY - (MAX_RESERVE_SUPPLY - reserveMinted).

Verified with a scratch Foundry test on the unmodified code.

      (a) owner: setProvenanceHash(keccak256('x')); owner: pause(); owner: reserveMint{value: 0.0005 ether}(1) -> reverts EnforcedPause().

      (b) owner: unpause(); 2000 distinct addresses each call mint{value: 0.0025 ether}(5) -> totalSupply() == 10000, reserveMinted() == 0; owner: reserveMint{value: 0.0005 ether}(1) -> reverts MaxSupplyExceeded().

Expected if a team allocation were intended: the owner can still mint up to 100.

Contract ETH balance stays 0 throughout (fee conservation holds).

    • infofreezeMetadata also permanently locks setUnrevealedURI, which the brief scopes to setBaseURI onlysrc/SwarmCats.sol:125

The brief says freezeMetadata() 'is one-way and blocks setBaseURI forever'. The implementation also rejects setUnrevealedURI after the freeze. This is harmless once a base URI is set (tokenURI then ignores unrevealedURI), and arguably safer, but it widens the one-way action beyond the written requirement.

Only matters if the owner freezes while baseURI is empty: tokens then show the current unrevealedURI permanently and the placeholder can never be corrected either. README documents this. Recorded so the judge can confirm the wider scope is accepted.

owner: setUnrevealedURI('ipfs://placeholder'); owner: freezeMetadata(); owner: setUnrevealedURI('ipfs://fixed') -> reverts MetadataIsFrozen(). Per the brief's literal text only setBaseURI would be blocked.

  6. Audit flowAgent #729found 1 low, 3 info

Review complete. The findings and coverage record are in .imd-findings.json; no repository file was changed.

Outcome. The SwarmCats and LaunchToken source is sound across my area. I traced every mint, payout, metadata and ownership path for execution-flow faults, stale reads, partial updates, callback interleaving and spec deviations, and found no fund-loss or authorization defect. The one substantive defect is in the periphery: the vendored libraries are not the pinned releases the project claims to ship.

    Findings written (4):

    • Low. Vendored dependencies differ from pinned releases. Eleven of the 48 files under lib/ were reformatted after download, apparently by forge fmt running over the library folder. The project's own check_dependencies.py exits 1 on the accepted tree, while the security and dependency docs state it passed and that the files are unmodified. I downloaded all three GitHub archives, confirmed their digests match the lock file, and rebuilt with pristine files. The compiled creation and runtime bytecode is byte-identical, so the drift is formatting only, but the integrity guarantee and the documented check are broken.
    • Info. Mint is gated on provenance. Both mint paths revert ProvenanceNotSet until the owner commits the hash. The approved text does not place that precondition on mint. It is documented and tested, so it is recorded as a deviation for the requester to confirm.
    • Info. Freeze locks the unrevealed URI too. The brief says freeze blocks setBaseURI only. Documented and tested.
    • Info. README names an unsourced owner wallet. The literal address appears in the README and a test but nowhere in the approved workflow. The source is clean. The manifest step must pass $owner, not the literal. The address has no code on Sepolia, so as an EOA it can receive the fee split and reserve mints.

Coverage. All 20 listed entry points have rows: 17 hold, 3 point at the two info findings. Four invariant rows record the fee-conservation check, the bytecode-equivalence check, the ABI export check, and the owner-address code check. The aderyn unchecked-ETH-send lead was examined and not promoted: recipients are immutable, nonzero-checked and both callers sit under the shared reentrancy guard.

Not reached. Nothing in the assigned area was skipped. The pool and price values the README quotes come from a launch section I was not given, so I did not verify them. No launch.json exists yet, so no manifest was reviewed.

    • lowVendored dependencies differ from their pinned releases; shipped integrity check fails and docs misstate itlib/openzeppelin-contracts/contracts/interfaces/IERC2981.sol:22

docs/DEPENDENCIES.md:11 states 'The selected upstream files are unmodified' and docs/SECURITY.md:44 records that python3 scripts/check_dependencies.py passed with 'All 48 vendored files match the recorded upstream hashes'. Neither is true of the delivered tree.

Eleven vendored files were rewritten after download (consistent with forge fmt having been run over lib/, since foundry.toml's [fmt] section has no ignore list): lib/openzeppelin-contracts/contracts/interfaces/IERC2981.sol, lib/openzeppelin-contracts/contracts/token/common/ERC2981.sol, lib/erc721a/contracts/ERC721A.sol, lib/erc721a/contracts/IERC721A.sol, lib/forge-std/src/StdAssertions.sol, StdJson.sol, StdToml.sol, Vm.sol, console.sol, interfaces/IMulticall3.sol and mocks/MockERC721.sol.

The SHA-256 digests recorded in dependencies.lock.json DO match the pinned GitHub archives (I downloaded all three archives; their archive digests match archiveSha256 and every per-file digest matches the upstream file), so the lock file is honest and the local copies are what drifted.

I rebuilt SwarmCats and LaunchToken with the pristine upstream files substituted and the creation and runtime bytecode are byte-identical to the repo build, so the drift is formatting only (quote style, line wrapping, brace insertion around single-statement ifs in ERC721A) and no behavior changes.

The defect is in the periphery guarantee: the project's own reproducible integrity check is red in the accepted tree, the dependency and security documents assert a result that cannot be reproduced, and a source publication/attestation of this tree will publish ERC721A and OpenZeppelin sources whose hashes do not match the releases the docs cite, so a downstream verifier cannot confirm the pinned-release claim by hashing.

Fix: restore the eleven files byte-for-byte from the archives named in dependencies.lock.json (or, less preferably, regenerate the lock from the formatted files and drop the 'unmodified' claim), and exclude lib/ from forge fmt so it cannot recur.

State: the committed tree at HEAD cf69122.

      Run python3 scripts/check_dependencies.py.

Expected (per README.md:13 and docs/SECURITY.md:44): prints 'Verified openzeppelin-contracts v5.1.0: 15 files' etc. and exits 0.

Actual: prints 'Dependency file differs from pinned release: .../lib/openzeppelin-contracts/contracts/interfaces/IERC2981.sol' and exits 1 (sha256sum of that file gives 60873d71048cd1e3ee7e2282a7db0ea5725e5c15d6899190dbc8c4514af3b40a; the lock and the v5.1.0 archive both give 6a8ea184edb362922fb260ba9c43dc867e3b32cd3547d3de9299344cdf91c635).

Cross-check: curl -sSL https://codeload.github.com/OpenZeppelin/openzeppelin-contracts/tar.gz/refs/tags/v5.1.0 | sha256sum yields 8a3b08cf... matching archiveSha256; extracting it and running diff contracts/interfaces/IERC2981.sol <repo>/lib/openzeppelin-contracts/contracts/interfaces/IERC2981.sol shows the royaltyInfo signature re-wrapped; repeating for all 48 listed files shows 11 differ from upstream while all 48 upstream digests equal the lock.

Bytecode equivalence check: copy src/, foundry.toml, remappings.txt and lib/ to a temp dir, overwrite the 48 listed files with the upstream copies, forge build, and compare out/SwarmCats.sol/SwarmCats.json deployedBytecode.object and bytecode.object with the repo's: both sha256 d40d0a40... and 1c81ef9a... are identical.

    • infoBoth mint paths are gated on provenanceSet, a precondition the approved requirements do not place on mint()src/SwarmCats.sol:161

The approved workflow defines mint(quantity) as payable, requiring msg.value == MINT_FEE * quantity, max 5 per wallet, pausable by the owner, and separately says the owner sets PROVENANCE_HASH once 'only while totalSupply is 0'. It does not say minting is blocked until the provenance hash exists. _checkMint (shared by mint and reserveMint) adds that gate, so a freshly deployed, unpaused SwarmCats refuses every correctly paid mint until the owner has called setProvenanceHash.

The README and SECURITY notes document this as a deliberate strengthening (it guarantees the owner can never lose the chance to commit provenance), and the behavior is tested, so this is a documented deviation from the stated interface rather than a vulnerability.

It is recorded so the requester can confirm they accept it: with this gate the owner must act after deployment before any public mint can succeed, and a frontend reading only paused() will show minting open while every mint reverts with ProvenanceNotSet.

Deploy SwarmCats(owner, owner, owner, owner) with any non-zero owner; do not call setProvenanceHash.

      From any EOA call mint{value: 0.0005 ether}(1).

Expected per the approved text (fee exact, quantity 1, wallet count 0, not paused): token 1 is minted and fees are split.

      Actual: revert ProvenanceNotSet().

Same for reserveMint{value: 0.0005 ether}(1) from the owner.

After the owner calls setProvenanceHash(bytes32(uint256(1))) the identical mint call succeeds. test/SwarmCatsMetadata.t.sol test_provenanceIsRequiredBeforeEitherMintPath asserts this behavior.

    • infofreezeMetadata also locks setUnrevealedURI, which the approved requirements only ask of setBaseURIsrc/SwarmCats.sol:124

The workflow specifies 'freezeMetadata() which is one-way and blocks setBaseURI forever'. The implementation also makes setUnrevealedURI revert MetadataIsFrozen after the freeze. Because tokenURI returns unrevealedURI whenever baseURI is empty, an owner who freezes before setting a base URI (which freezeMetadata permits, and which its NatSpec calls out) leaves every token's URI permanently fixed to whatever unrevealedURI held, with no way to repair a typo in the placeholder.

This is owner-triggered, documented in README.md and tested, so it is a scope note for the requester rather than a vulnerability; if the approved behaviour is wanted literally, the check at line 125 should be removed.

Deploy; owner calls setProvenanceHash(nonzero); owner calls freezeMetadata(); owner calls setUnrevealedURI("ipfs://placeholder.json").

Expected per the approved text (freeze blocks only setBaseURI): the call succeeds and unrevealedURI changes.

Actual: revert MetadataIsFrozen(). test/SwarmCatsMetadata.t.sol test_freezeLocksBothUrisAndCannotBeRepeated asserts the current behavior.

    • infoREADME names a literal owner wallet that appears nowhere in the approved workflow; the manifest must still pass $owner, not this literalREADME.md:32

The approved workflow (.imd/reads/workflow.md) says creator, platform and reserve equal $owner and names no wallet address. README.md:32 and test/Deployment.t.sol:25 assert that $owner resolves to 0x02b4bd9cc103fd502b2f3f601e29e6ae2039ac85, a value I cannot trace to any accepted input in this tree. The source is clean: SwarmCats takes the four roles as constructor arguments and no address is hard-coded.

The risk is downstream: a manifest step that copies the README literal into constructorArgs would hard-code a privileged wallet, which the launch rules forbid ($owner must resolve at deployment to the owner the request named, else the payer). For the record, eth_getCode on Sepolia for that address returns 0x (an EOA), so if it is the real owner it can receive the fee split and reserveMint callbacks.

No code change is needed; the manifest reviewer should confirm all four SwarmCats constructorArgs are the string "$owner" and that the launch context, not the README, supplies the wallet.

      grep -rn 02b4bd9cc103fd502b2f3f601e29e6ae2039ac85 . matches README.md:32 and test/Deployment.t.sol:25 only; grep -n 0x .imd/reads/workflow.md finds no address.

Expected: the README either cites where the owner wallet comes from or states only that the arguments are $owner.

Actual: an unsourced literal is presented as the resolved owner.

Failing manifest input to reject: constructorArgs ["0x02b4bd9cc103fd502b2f3f601e29e6ae2039ac85", ...] instead of ["$owner","$owner","$owner","$owner"].

  8. Audit judgeAgent #1575found 3 low, 3 info

The review is complete and written to .imd-findings.json. The working tree is unchanged: the findings file and test/scratch/ are both gitignored.

Outcome: no critical, high or medium defects. Six findings survived reproduction, three at low and three at info. All nine specialist findings were reproduced against the code and merged into these six.

    Findings kept

    • Low, payable ERC-721 surface. SwarmCats inherits ERC721A's payable approve, transferFrom and both safeTransferFrom overloads without narrowing them. ETH attached to a plain transfer is accepted and permanently locked, while the ABI doc and README say only the mint paths take ETH. The specialist's proof fails 2 of 2 on this tree and is attached.
    • Low, provenance gate on mint. Both mint paths revert until the owner calls setProvenanceHash, a precondition the brief does not place on mint(). The brief's "only while totalSupply is 0" guarantee is already enforced separately, so the gate is a spec deviation that makes mint liveness depend on an owner action. Merged from audit_flow and audit_economics.
    • Low, vendored dependency drift. Eleven vendored Solidity files were reformatted after download. The project's own integrity script exits 1 on the delivered tree, and the dependency and security docs claim it passes. I downloaded the OpenZeppelin v5.1.0 archive and confirmed the lock file matches upstream, so the local copies drifted. Formatting only, no bytecode change.
    • Info, freeze scope. freezeMetadata also locks setUnrevealedURI, which the brief scopes to setBaseURI. Merged from two specialists.
    • Info, README owner literal. README states a wallet address as the resolved owner that no accepted input names. The manifest correctly passes $owner four times, so the risk did not materialise. Merged from two specialists.
    • Info, team allowance not withheld. Public minting can consume all 10,000 before the owner reserve-mints, and reserveMint is also blocked while paused. Documented design consequence.

    Verification run

    • Full project suite: 93 tests pass.
    • Specialist proof for the payable-transfer finding: fails for the stated reason.
    • My scratch test reproducing the provenance gate, freeze lock, reserve-while-paused and fee conservation: all assertions hold.
    • Dependency check: exits 1 at IERC2981.sol. ABI drift check: passes.

Coverage: all 20 listed entry points answered, plus three invariant rows for fee conservation, factory deployability and manifest schema. The manifest is schema-valid, names one contract with four $owner arguments matching the four constructor parameters, pairs with native ETH, and keeps notes under the limit.

The aderyn arbitrary-send lead was dropped: the recipients are immutable constructor roles behind a reentrancy guard. No specialist finding was dropped outright.

    • lowInherited ERC721A approve/transferFrom/safeTransferFrom are payable: ETH attached to a plain transfer is locked forever, contradicting docs/ABI.md and READMEsrc/SwarmCats.sol:14

SwarmCats inherits ERC721A v4.3.0 without overriding approve, transferFrom and both safeTransferFrom overloads, which ERC721A declares payable (lib/erc721a/contracts/ERC721A.sol:471, 594, 670, 689-691). The delivered docs/abi/SwarmCats.json therefore carries six payable functions, while docs/ABI.md:3 says 'only mint and reserveMint accept ETH on SwarmCats' and README.md:45 says 'Unsolicited ETH transfers revert'.

The contract has no receive, withdraw or sweep path, so any value a wallet, marketplace adapter or frontend attaches to a transfer or approval is accepted and permanently locked. The brief requires 'plain ERC-721 transfers'. Merged from audit_permissions (same root cause).

Severity low: the loss needs a caller to attach ETH to a transfer, no attacker gains it, and the amount is whatever that caller sent. Minimal fix that preserves intended behaviour: override the four functions in SwarmCats as public override without payable (narrowing mutability is allowed) and call super; then regenerate docs/abi/SwarmCats.json and correct docs/ABI.md and README.md. If the payable surface is kept on purpose, say so in the docs.

      State: new SwarmCats(owner, owner, owner, owner); owner calls setProvenanceHash(keccak256('art')); alice calls mint{value: 0.0005 ether}(1) and owns token 1; address(cats).balance == 0.

Call: alice sends transferFrom(alice, bob, 1) with 1 ether attached.

Expected (per docs/ABI.md and a plain ERC-721): revert, alice keeps her ETH.

Actual: call succeeds, token 1 moves to bob, address(cats).balance == 1 ether, and no function can move it out.

Same for approve(bob, 1) with 0.5 ether attached.

Reproduced: forge test --match-path test/scratch/PayableTransferTrap.t.sol fails 2 of 2 on this tree ('transferFrom accepted ETH', 'approve accepted ETH').

    • lowBoth mint paths revert ProvenanceNotSet until the owner calls setProvenanceHash, a gate the approved brief does not place on mint()src/SwarmCats.sol:161

The approved workflow defines mint(quantity) as payable with msg.value == MINT_FEE * quantity, max 5 per wallet, pausable by the owner, and separately says the owner sets PROVENANCE_HASH once 'only while totalSupply is 0'. It never says minting is blocked until the hash exists. _checkMint, shared by mint and reserveMint, adds that gate: a freshly deployed, unpaused SwarmCats refuses every correctly paid mint until the owner has sent a transaction.

The totalSupply()==0 check at line 100 already gives the brief's guarantee on its own.

Consequences: mint liveness depends on an owner action the brief does not list; a mint site written to the brief (reads paused(), shows quantity 1-5 and a mint button) shows an open mint whose every call reverts with an error the brief never names; if the owner renounces or loses the key before setting the hash, minting is permanently impossible because setProvenanceHash is onlyOwner.

README.md:52 and docs/SECURITY.md document this as deliberate and it is tested, so it is a spec deviation for the requester to accept or reject, not an exploit. Merged from audit_flow (info) and audit_economics (low); kept at low because it is a broken guarantee under a specific condition (owner inaction or renounce), not loss of funds.

Fix if the brief is to be followed literally: delete line 161 and keep the line 100 check; otherwise record setProvenanceHash as a required launch step in the handoff and have the frontend read provenanceSet().

State: new SwarmCats(owner, owner, owner, owner), no owner call yet (exactly the state after the factory deploys), paused() == false. alice calls mint{value: 0.0005 ether}(1).

Expected per the brief (fee exact, quantity 1, wallet count 0, not paused): token 1 minted, 0.0005 ETH split 40/40/20.

Actual: revert ProvenanceNotSet(). owner calls reserveMint{value: 0.0005 ether}(1): also reverts ProvenanceNotSet().

After owner calls setProvenanceHash(bytes32(uint256(1))) the identical mint succeeds and ownerOf(1) == alice.

Reproduced in test/scratch/JudgeRepro.t.sol test_mintRevertsBeforeProvenance (passes, asserting the reverts) and asserted by the project's own test/SwarmCatsMetadata.t.sol:16 test_provenanceIsRequiredBeforeEitherMintPath.

    • lowVendored dependency files were reformatted after download: scripts/check_dependencies.py fails on the delivered tree and DEPENDENCIES.md/SECURITY.md assert a result that does not reproducedocs/DEPENDENCIES.md:11

docs/DEPENDENCIES.md:11 states the vendored upstream files are unmodified and README.md:13 lists scripts/check_dependencies.py as a build check; docs/SECURITY.md records it passing with 'All 48 vendored files match the recorded upstream hashes'. On the delivered tree the script exits 1 at the first mismatch.

      Eleven vendored Solidity files differ from the lock (lib/openzeppelin-contracts/contracts/interfaces/IERC2981.sol, token/common/ERC2981.sol, lib/erc721a/contracts/ERC721A.sol, IERC721A.sol, lib/forge-std/src/StdAssertions.sol, StdJson.sol, StdToml.sol, Vm.sol, console.sol, interfaces/IMulticall3.sol, mocks/MockERC721.sol).

I downloaded the OpenZeppelin v5.1.0 archive: its SHA-256 (8a3b08cf...) matches archiveSha256 in dependencies.lock.json and the upstream IERC2981.sol hashes to the lock's value 6a8ea184..., so the lock is honest and the local copies drifted, consistent with forge fmt having been run over lib/ (foundry.toml [fmt] has no ignore list).

The diff is whitespace and line-wrapping only (royaltyInfo signature re-wrapped); audit_flow additionally rebuilt with pristine upstream files and found byte-identical bytecode, and I did not find any semantic change in the IERC2981 diff.

Impact: the project's own reproducible integrity check is red, the docs misstate it, and a published source tree will carry ERC721A and OpenZeppelin files whose hashes do not match the cited releases, so a downstream verifier cannot confirm the pinned-release claim by hashing. Kept from audit_flow at low.

Fix: restore the eleven files byte-for-byte from the archives named in the lock (or regenerate the lock from the formatted files and drop the 'unmodified' claim) and exclude lib/ from forge fmt via the [fmt] ignore setting.

State: the committed tree at HEAD 0050824.

      Run: python3 scripts/check_dependencies.py.

Expected (per README.md:13 and docs/SECURITY.md): exits 0 and reports all 48 files verified.

Actual: prints 'Dependency file differs from pinned release: .../lib/openzeppelin-contracts/contracts/interfaces/IERC2981.sol' and exits 1. sha256sum of that file is 60873d71048cd1e3ee7e2282a7db0ea5725e5c15d6899190dbc8c4514af3b40a; dependencies.lock.json:12 and the v5.1.0 archive both give 6a8ea184edb362922fb260ba9c43dc867e3b32cd3547d3de9299344cdf91c635. diff of the upstream file against the vendored one shows only the royaltyInfo declaration re-wrapped across lines 22-25.

Hashing all 48 lock entries against the tree shows 11 .sol files differ.

    • infofreezeMetadata also permanently locks setUnrevealedURI, which the approved brief scopes to setBaseURI onlysrc/SwarmCats.sol:125

The brief says 'freezeMetadata() which is one-way and blocks setBaseURI forever'. The implementation also rejects setUnrevealedURI after the freeze. Because tokenURI returns unrevealedURI whenever baseURI is empty, an owner who freezes before setting a base URI (which freezeMetadata permits and its NatSpec at line 130 calls out) leaves every token's URI permanently fixed to the current placeholder with no way to repair it.

Owner-triggered, documented in README.md:56 and tested, so this is a scope note for the requester rather than a vulnerability. Merged from audit_flow and audit_economics. If the brief's literal behaviour is wanted, remove the check at line 125.

owner calls setUnrevealedURI('ipfs://placeholder'); owner calls freezeMetadata(); owner calls setUnrevealedURI('ipfs://fixed').

Expected per the brief (freeze blocks only setBaseURI): succeeds.

      Actual: revert MetadataIsFrozen().

      Reproduced in test/scratch/JudgeRepro.t.sol test_freezeLocksUnrevealedURI and asserted by test/SwarmCatsMetadata.t.sol:128 test_freezeLocksBothUrisAndCannotBeRepeated.

    • infoREADME presents a literal wallet as the resolved $owner that no accepted input names; the manifest correctly uses $owner, so the literal must not be copied downstreamREADME.md:32

The approved workflow (.imd/reads/workflow.md) says creator, platform and reserve equal $owner and names no address. README.md:32 and test/Deployment.t.sol:25 assert that $owner resolves to 0x02b4bd9cc103fd502b2f3f601e29e6ae2039ac85, a value traceable to no accepted input in this tree.

The source is clean (four constructor arguments, nothing hard-coded) and the delivered launch.json writes '$owner' for all four SwarmCats constructorArgs, so the manifest risk the specialists warned of did not materialise. All four roles are immutable (CREATOR, PLATFORM, RESERVE and the ERC-2981 receiver never change), so if any later step substituted this literal for the launch's real owner, 100% of mint fees and royalties would route to an unrecoverable address.

Merged from audit_flow and audit_permissions. No code change needed; the README should cite where the value comes from or state only that the arguments are $owner, and the service that resolves $owner is the only authority on it.

      grep -rn 02b4bd9cc103fd502b2f3f601e29e6ae2039ac85 . matches README.md:32 and test/Deployment.t.sol:25 only; grep -n 0x .imd/reads/workflow.md matches nothing. launch.json contracts[0].constructorArgs == ['$owner','$owner','$owner','$owner'] (correct). Failing manifest input to reject if it ever appears: constructorArgs ['0x02b4bd9cc103fd502b2f3f601e29e6ae2039ac85', ... x4].

    • infoTeam allowance of 100 is not withheld from public supply and reserveMint is also blocked while paused, so public minting can starve the team allocationsrc/SwarmCats.sol:90

reserveMinted and public mints draw from the single MAX_SUPPLY cap in _checkMint and nothing holds 100 slots back. reserveMint also carries whenNotPaused, so the owner's only tool to stop a public race (pause) also stops the team. The only window in which the team is guaranteed its 100 is between setProvenanceHash and the first public mint on an unpaused contract, which is a mempool race.

The NatSpec at line 89 and README.md:42 state this explicitly and the brief only says reserveMint is 'capped at 100 tokens total for the team', so this is a documented design consequence for the requester to confirm, not a defect. Kept from audit_economics. If a guaranteed team allocation is wanted, either drop whenNotPaused from reserveMint or check public mints against MAX_SUPPLY - (MAX_RESERVE_SUPPLY - reserveMinted).

      (a) owner: setProvenanceHash(bytes32(uint256(1))); owner: pause(); owner: reserveMint{value: 0.0005 ether}(1) -> reverts EnforcedPause().

      Reproduced in test/scratch/JudgeRepro.t.sol test_reserveMintBlockedWhilePaused.

      (b) owner: unpause(); 2000 distinct addresses each call mint{value: 0.0025 ether}(5) -> totalSupply() == 10000, reserveMinted() == 0; owner: reserveMint{value: 0.0005 ether}(1) -> reverts MaxSupplyExceeded() at line 162.

Expected if a team allocation were guaranteed: the owner can still mint up to 100.

    Recorded in .imd-findings.json:

    • Medium — bug: refreshed wallet balance leaves a false empty collection. After an incoming transfer, “Refresh state” shows “1 held” alongside “No cats.” Invalidate the cached ownership list when the balance changes.
    • Low — bug: checking a cat owner requires an unrelated recipient. Entering token ID 1 and checking ownership fails unless a recipient is supplied. Validate the recipient only for reads that use it.

Both reproduce in Chromium and WebKit at 390 × 844. The findings include exact source snippets, changes and reproduction steps. No high-severity defect was substantiated.

The clean build and typecheck passed; every rebuilt export file matched the submission byte for byte. All 30 original interaction scenarios passed in each browser across completed runs and reruns; two intermittent failures passed on rerun. Live reads worked in both engines. No real transaction was broadcast. Implementation files remain unchanged.

The visual idea is a paper-colored mint desk, carried by large collection typography and one rust-colored mint action.

Contract entries below describe the inherited, attested implementation, not a new Solidity audit. “Met” can include the limited defects identified above.

    • mediumbug: refreshed wallet balance leaves the collection in a false empty stateweb/src/App.tsx:72

Now: After a connected wallet receives its first cat outside this page, Refresh state updates the balance to 1 but keeps the cached empty cats array. Your cats simultaneously says "1 held in this wallet" and "No cats in this wallet yet."

Change to: Invalidate the cached ownership list when the refreshed balance differs from the balance it represents. Show the existing "Load your cats to check current ownership on chain, including transfers." prompt for a positive balance until lookup completes; render the empty message only when the current verified balance is zero.

Why: The brief requires showing the user's tokens. A successful refresh must not continue asserting that a wallet with a known positive balance owns no cats.

Chromium and WebKit, 390 x 844: use the existing web/tests/mock-chain.ts fixture with balance: 0n, load the export, connect its test wallet and observe the empty collection.

Set the fixture's returned state.balance to 1n (representing an incoming ERC-721 transfer), then click Refresh state and wait for "1 held in this wallet".

Measured: that label and "No cats in this wallet yet." remain visible together.

Click Load my cats: Swarm Cat #1 appears, proving ownership was available.

No real signature or transaction is required; the targeted reproduction passed and a screenshot confirmed the contradictory text.

    • lowbug: checking a cat owner requires an unrelated recipient addressweb/src/CollectionTools.tsx:23

Now: Check owner / allowance validates the recipient before selecting the kind of read. In the Swarm Cat transfer or approve view, a valid token ID alone produces an address error instead of its owner and existing approval. The ownerOf and getApproved reads do not use this recipient.

Change to: Validate recipient inside the Loom allowance and NFT operator branches of check(). For the single-cat branch, validate only the token ID before reading ownerOf and getApproved. Keep recipient validation for the actual transfer or approval submission.

Why: Visitors should be able to inspect existing ownership before choosing a recipient or new spender; the current error demands data unrelated to the requested lookup.

Chromium and WebKit, 390 x 844: use web/tests/mock-chain.ts with balance: 1n; load the export, connect, expand Transfers & approvals, keep Asset = Swarm Cat and Action = Transfer, enter Token ID = 1, and leave Recipient address empty.

      Click Check owner / allowance.

Actual measured alert: "Enter a valid nonzero Ethereum address."

      No ownership result is shown.

Expected: the owner and approved address of token 1, both available from the fixture.

This read-only reproduction passed without any signature or broadcast.
