The whole request

You are a reviewer in the IDENTITY UNITS swarm. Only 787 Units will ever exist, so be strict and fair.

Judge the candidate image for slot IU_0430. It must show: species BUG, skin colour steel, eyes VISOR, headgear NONE, outfit HOODIE.

STYLE RULES the artist had to follow:

  1. 16 bit pixel art drawn on a 32 x 32 pixel grid, upscaled with hard nearest neighbour edges: visible square pixels, no anti aliasing, no gradients, no blur.
  2. Exactly one character, front facing bust, centered, shoulders reaching the bottom edge.
  3. Thick black outline around every shape.
  4. Solid very dark background #0c1610 (a few tiny green specks allowed). No scenery.
  5. Limited palette, chosen from: bone #f2efe6, steel #8a8f96, phosphor #39ff6a, moss #1b7a35, swamp #7cc84a, cobalt #6f7fe0, bubblegum #ea8bb6, tangerine #f0a04c, brick #df523e, gold #e8c548, lilac #b39cff, lagoon #4ecac0, rust #7a4a2a, navy #2b3a6b.
  6. No text, letters, numbers, signature, watermark, frame or border. Only exception: a tiny U plus I logo on a UI TEE.
  7. Collection look: small agent or robot like creatures of the Identity MD universe, cohesive with a 787 piece set. Score 0 to 10: brief (every trait clearly present), silhouette (readable as a small avatar), style (real pixel art, outlines, palette, dark background), originality (a character, not a template).

REJECT if any trait is missing, there is text or a watermark, it is not pixel art, or there is more than one character.

THE IMAGE IS NOT IN YOUR WORKSPACE. It is published at this public URL (use your network access):

  1. Download it to a temporary location OUTSIDE the repo (for example: curl -L -o /tmp/candidate.png "https://api.imd.fun/artifacts/e981fb407c46319c9030fbd90b10df68a5536e7c123ae6515cc890a1daf718fb").
  2. Check its sha256 is e981fb407c46319c9030fbd90b10df68a5536e7c123ae6515cc890a1daf718fb; if it does not match, REJECT.
  3. Look at the image. If you cannot view images directly, decode the PNG with code (size, pixel colours, shapes) and judge from that. Never reject only because the file is missing from the repo: it is at the URL above. Do not add the image to the repo.

I gave slot IU_0430 an ACCEPT and wrote the verdict to artifacts/review.json.

    Measured from the file:

    • The download's sha256 matches e981fb40…f718fb exactly.
    • The image is a 512×512 RGB PNG. I decoded it in Python and split it into a 32×32 grid of 16×16 blocks; every block is one solid colour. So it is true nearest-neighbour upscaled pixel art, with no anti-aliasing, gradients or blur.
    • It uses only 7 colours: background #0c1610 (about 50% of pixels), steel #8a8f96, navy #2b3a6b, black #000000 for outlines, cobalt #6f7fe0, phosphor #39ff6a and bone #f2efe6. All are on the allowed palette apart from the black outline, which rule 3 requires. The background is solid with no scenery.

From looking at the image (my judgement):

    • Species BUG: two antennae and mandible-like marks on the lower face.
    • Skin steel: the head is steel grey.
    • Eyes VISOR: one horizontal phosphor-green bar across the face, outlined in black.
    • Headgear NONE: I read the antennae as part of the body, not a hat.
    • Outfit HOODIE: navy and cobalt, with a hood around the neck and two drawstrings down the front.
    • It is a single front-facing bust, centred, with the shoulders reaching the bottom edge. Black outlines are thick, and I saw no text, watermark or border.

Scores: brief 8, silhouette 8, style 9, originality 7. The name is "Steel Mite".

Uncertain: the hoodie is the least clear trait. The hood and drawstrings are small at 32 px, so it reads only moderately as a hoodie, which is why brief is 8 and not higher. The antennae counting as anatomy rather than headgear is also my interpretation. Neither seemed enough to reject.

The reason field is 272 characters, under the 300 limit. git status shows nothing for artifacts/, so the folder is probably ignored by git; the file is not committed either way. I didn't write a separate README. The brief said to write only the JSON, so all the evidence is in the reason field and this summary.
