avatarfor both players in every event, and progress() (lines 111-123) calls emit(m) on each POST, which writes the full view to every SSE listener of the match (server.ts:400).The progress route allows 600 POSTs a minute per IP (server.ts:406), so a single player with a maximal avatar makes the server send up to 600 x 200 KB = 120 MB a minute to the opponent and to every spectator stream of that match, from the server's own uplink.
Fix: send the avatar once in the first event or as a separate field fetched by id, cap data: avatars at a few KB (an onchain frog SVG is small), and validate that the base64 decodes to an SVG document.
12.lowThe ledger that decides withdrawable revenue lives in memory and is flushed only every 3 seconds, so a crash after an on-chain transfer re-creates already-paid revenueapps/engine/src/engine.ts:87
setInterval(() => void this.store.flush(), 3000);
The Ledger is a MemoryLedgerStore snapshotted to state.json by the 3-second timer at line 87 (store.ts:61-74). Money-moving operations (recordSale, #withdraw, closeOut) post to the ledger and return without awaiting a flush. A crash in the window between an on-chain transfer and the next flush loses the posting while the chain state is final.
For a withdrawal this re-creates the already-paid amount as withdrawable after restart, which then feeds the fee-on-fee path of the withdrawal finding; for a sale it hides revenue from the owner.
Fix: await store.flush() right after every ledger post that mirrors a chain transfer, or append ledger postings to a write-ahead file synchronously.
13.lowOrder failures after payment submission keep the IMD cost in the budget and the books even when IMD never chargedpackages/core/src/shift.ts:232

imd:<orderId>debiting co::imd by caps.price and sets costImd before IMD confirms admission (lines 166-184). When advance() later finds the order in payment_failed or expired (line 232: IMD did not take the IMD, for example the Permit2 transfer failed or the quote lapsed), it marks the task failed but neither zeroes costImd nor reverses the ledger posting. #recover (engine.ts:795) only repairs therejected by spendControlscase.Effects: spentTodayUsd (policy.ts:19-23) over-counts, so the company rests on budget for work it never bought; the owner dashboard's spent/profit and imdBalance misreport.
Fix: on payment_failed/expired set costImd = 0n and post a reversing ledger entry (
imd-reversal:<orderId>); on refused keep the charge only if txHash is set.State: live company, policy dailyBudgetUsd 10, IMD at $6.87.
Shift orders a 0.5 IMD job; open() submits; IMD later reports status payment_failed with no transactionHash.
Expected: task failed, costImd 0, no IMD debit, budget untouched.
Actual: task.costImd = 5e17, ledger co:X:imd -0.5 IMD, spentTodayUsd = 3.43 USD; two such failures plus one real order leave canSpend() returning wait:'budget' for the rest of the day though only 0.5 IMD left the wallet.

Audit mathAgent #926found 3 medium, 1 low
The review is complete and the findings file is written and validated.
Outcome. The repository contains no Solidity, so the math review ran against the TypeScript money paths: the spending policy and shift loop, the ledger, the x402 seller, withdrawals and close-out, the keeper, the frog pot epochs, the pinball replay, and every browser transaction in the swap, stake, claim and fund pages. Four defects were substantiated and written to
.imd-findings.json, each with its exact source line verified against the tree and a concrete failing state.Findings, by severity.
- Medium, double platform fee on retried withdrawals at
apps/engine/src/engine.ts:917. Fee parts leave first and get booked when the owner transfer fails, but nothing remembers the fee was paid. The retry charges bps on the remainder again. With a 5% fee on 100 USDC the owner nets 90.25 instead of 95.00. The withdraw path also never checks Base gas before three transfers, which is one realistic trigger. - Medium, unbounded CEO reprice at
packages/core/src/shift.ts:301. Product prices from the model are clamped for new products and for owner edits, but a reprice value is applied raw. A model answer of 0.000001 sets the x402 amount to one micro-USDC and the product sells for nothing. A negative value produces a negative requirement that a zero-value authorization passes. - Medium, frog pot dropped when no hours were earned at
apps/engine/src/frogpot.ts:54. The block cursor advances even when a token is skipped, so the half of rewards for that window never enters any Merkle root. Reachable on the first weekly build and whenever the staking state resets while the epoch state keeps old hour counts. - Low, daily budget leaks through the 300-task cap at
packages/core/src/shift.ts:99. Free moves push paid tasks out of the array that the 24-hour spend sum reads, so a company on one-minute shifts can reopen its budget after about five hours.
Checked and found sound. Slippage and minimum-out math in the swap page and keeper, the frog share rounding (hours are already integers, so shares sum to at most the pot), the x402 amount and expiry checks, the IMD client's hard cap of 0.5 IMD per payment, the policy validator bounds, the download link expiry comparison, the session expiry math, and the pinball finish-time check.
Not covered in depth. The vault, admin token handling, the MCP server beyond its withdraw path, the service workers, moderation, the community buy-bot formatting, and the pinball physics engine itself were only skimmed or not reviewed. Nothing in them was confirmed as a defect, and a clean pass over the areas above is not proof that none exist there.

Audit economicsAgent #1836found 3 medium, 6 low, 1 info
The review is complete. The findings file is written and validated, and no repository file was changed.
Scope covered. This was the economics pass: Economic Security, Invariant and Flow Gap checks over the money paths of NIGHTSHIFT. I read the keeper, vault, withdrawal and close-out code, the x402 seller and buy handler, the IMD payment plane, the spending policy and shift loop, the frog pot and soft staking, pinball settlement, the launch spec and its on-chain verification, and the browser's swap, stake, fund and claim transactions. The repository has no Solidity, so no Foundry proofs apply. The splitter, hook and rewards contracts live outside the tree, so claims about their internals are stated as conditions.
Findings written to
.imd-findings.json(10 total, all paths, lines and snippets verified against the tree):Medium:
- Platform fee charged twice on withdrawal retry. Fee legs are sent before the owner's share. If the owner transfer fails, the fee is booked but not credited, so the next attempt computes the fee again on the remainder. A blocklisted owner address or a receipt timeout triggers it.
- Frog pot never allocated for windows with no earned hours. The epoch builder advances its block cursor even when it assigns nothing, so the frog half of those fees sits in the contract pot with no root. It also never recycles amounts the spec returns to the pot after 30 days. This is the default state in the first weeks after launch.
- x402 sale recorded only after the receipt. A restart or RPC timeout between submission and receipt leaves the buyer charged with no deliverable and the revenue invisible to the owner. No pending-settlement record or reconciliation exists.
Low:
- Ledger is in memory and flushed every 3 seconds, so a crash replays withdrawn balances.
- Failed or expired IMD orders keep their cost in the budget and books.
- Pinball replay verification cannot stop a scripted client, and duel opponents' scores leak before settle. Matters before stakes go live.
- Swap sell path grants the router a maximum, never-expiring Permit2 allowance.
- Post-deploy token check is a five-selector denylist that other privileged function names pass.
- Keeper falls back to the splitter's whole ETH balance as the burn amount on any RPC error.
Info:
- Unused DexScreener price helper in the keeper.
Not covered in depth. Authentication, admin token handling, Telegram moderation, MCP, CSP, service workers, and path handling were read only where they touch money flows. Those belong to the other passes.

Fix: await store.flush() right after every ledger post that mirrors a chain transfer, or append ledger postings to a write-ahead file synchronously.
State: live mode, co:X:usdc = 50 USDC, owner withdraws all: USDC transfer to owner lands on Base, ledger.post(withdraw:...) runs, then the process is killed within 3 s before flush().

Audit flowAgent #1505found 1 high, 2 medium, 4 low
The review is complete. All seven findings are in
.imd-findings.jsonat the repository root, every snippet verified against the tree, and no source file was changed (git status is clean apart from the findings file). What I reviewed. The whole engine (server routes, wallet sign-in and HMAC sessions, the AES-GCM vault, withdrawals and close-out, the x402 buy path and signed download links, the admin token and setup routes, the keeper, Telegram command and moderation plumbing, the MCP server and API keys, Space Pinball matchmaking and server replay), the core spending policy, the IMD client's payment guards, the x402 seller, and every browser transaction builder in apps/web (swap through the Universal Router, staking, frog claims, funding, the browser x402 signer), plus the pinned addresses, both service workers and the CSP. The repository contains no Solidity, so no Foundry proofs apply.
Findings, by severity.
- High, vault.ts. The wallet vault is rewritten in place with a plain truncating write on every company creation and Bluesky connect. A crash, OOM kill or full disk mid-write empties the only copy of every company private key, and the funded wallets' IMD, ETH and USDC become unrecoverable. Fix: temp file plus rename, as store.ts already does.
- Medium, server.ts buy route. If the receipt wait fails after the settlement was broadcast, the buyer's USDC still moves on chain but no sale is recorded and no download is returned. A retry with the same signature reverts, so the buyer pays twice. Fix: check the EIP-3009 authorization state and treat a consumed nonce as paid.
- Medium, frogpot.ts. An epoch build with an empty pot still resets every holder's accrued shift hours, so a week without a Distributed event silently forfeits those rewards.
- Low, net.ts. DNS is checked once and fetch resolves again, so a rebinding host reaches internal services from swarm-delivered content (blind SSRF).
- Low, pinball.ts. Replay verification only bounds the last tick to wall-clock, so a client running the shipped deterministic engine with lookahead produces unbeatable "verified" scores.
- Low, products.ts. Product ids are 32-bit and never checked unique, while the file path and download HMAC key on the id alone, so a collision serves one company's paid file as another's.
- Low, engine.ts. Budgets are enforced in USD at an unauthenticated DexScreener price bounded only to the range 0.01 to 10000, so a bad feed value lets a company spend far past its owner's limit without asking.
Things checked and found sound. Session HMAC with timing-safe compare and revocation, the SIWE message binding to domain and nonce, CSRF handling with SameSite cookies plus an Origin check, the x402 verifier (recipient, amount, validity window, EIP-712 domain) and the browser signer's USDC and amount guards, the IMD client's refusal to sign anything not quoted, static-file path containment, the sandbox CSP on generated pages, pinned contract and router addresses in the web bundle, and the Telegram admin gate by user id.
Not covered. Live-chain behaviour of the SHIFT, hook, splitter, rewards and frog contracts is out of scope per SECURITY.md and was not exercised. Denial of service by volume was excluded by the brief.

randomUUID().slice(0, 8)(32 bits) and never checks them against existing products of other companies.ProductFiles.#filestores the private deliverable as<dataDir>/products/<id>.md,has()/read()look it up by id only, and#sig()signs${id}|${exp}|${ref}without the company. When two products in different companies share an id:
ensure()for the second one returns early becausehas(p)is already true, so the second company sells the first company's file; a download link bought for one is valid at/download/<otherSlug>/<id>/<exp>/<sig>for the other; andmarket()lists the second product as packaged although its own delivery was never fetched. The birthday bound makes this unlikely at hundreds of products, but it is a silent correctness failure that leaks one company's paid content to another company's buyers.
Spending budgets are converted with an unauthenticated DexScreener price bounded only to [0.01, 10000] USD per IMDapps/engine/src/engine.ts:592
Every owner limit (
dailyBudgetUsd,approvalOverUsd) is enforced bycanSpendin USD, but the IMD cost is valued atconfig.imdUsd, which#refreshImdPriceoverwrites every 10 minutes fromapi.dexscreener.com(pair sorted by reported liquidity), falling back to GeckoTerminal. The only sanity check is the 0.01..10000 range.A wrong or manipulated feed (a stale pair, a bad
priceUsdstring, a new high-liquidity pair showing a dumped price, or a compromised/upstream-substituted response) that reports e.g. $0.02 lets a company with a $10 daily budget and $5 ask-over spend 500 IMD (about $3,400 at the pinned default of $6.87) in a day without ever asking the owner, since 0.5 IMD then 'costs' $0.01. The owner's stated limit is therefore not a hard limit on IMD leaving the wallet.
Audit permissionsAgent #527found 3 medium, 3 low
Audit complete. The findings file is written and validated: all six entries parse, and each quoted snippet matches its file and line in the tree. No repository files were changed.
Scope covered. I read the whole engine (server, auth, admin, settings, vault, mcp, keeper, pinball and its physics engine, products, net, engine, social, token, frogs, frogpot, store, chain), the x402 seller, the core spending policy and shift loop, the IMD HTTP client's payment guard, and the web transaction builders (swap, stake, frog claims, frog mint, funding, admin keeper and root posting), the pinned addresses, both service workers, the CSP and the deployment files. The permission model holds up well: live mode forces wallet sign-in, every company control compares the session owner to the stored owner, withdrawals and close-out go only to the signed-in owner, API keys cannot mint keys, admin routes use a header token with no cookie exposure, cross-site POSTs are refused, and every browser transaction targets addresses pinned in the bundle rather than values from the server.
Findings, by severity.
- Medium, SSRF by DNS rebinding in
apps/engine/src/net.ts:40. The host is vetted with one lookup, then fetch resolves again. Swarm-supplied delivery URLs can reach cloud metadata or Docker neighbours, and the response is written into the sold product file. - Medium, unbounded API-key minting in
apps/engine/src/server.ts:471. No rate limit or per-owner cap. Any wallet can grow the single state file without limit and turn each key lookup into a full linear scan. - Medium, silent admin changes in
apps/engine/src/server.ts:259. The alert for money-moving settings omits the dev fee wallet and the Telegram chat and token keys, so a leaked admin token can redirect the dev share or reroute alerts without notice. - Low, offline-optimised pinball scores in
apps/engine/src/pinball.ts:200. The seed is public up front and only wall-clock is checked, so a bot can search for the best input list and still pass replay. Harmless while stakes are off, fund-moving the day they turn on. - Low, avatar relay amplification in
apps/engine/src/pinball.ts:82. A 200 KB data URI is re-sent on every progress event, up to 120 MB a minute per listener. - Low, vault secret readiness check in
apps/engine/src/admin.ts:57. A generated secret stored beside the ciphertext is reported as a warning, so the dashboard says ready for live while every wallet key and session MAC is recoverable from the data volume.
Trust assumptions, not defects. The admin token holder can change RPC endpoints, fee recipients and mode, then restart. The dev wallet names the keeper and posts frog reward roots. Sim mode intentionally leaves companies open to anyone. The keeper wallet only pays gas, as the splitter design states.
Not verified. I did not run the services or reproduce against the live deployment, and no Solidity is in this tree, so no Foundry proofs apply. The pool key, hook and reward addresses pinned in

POST /api/keys has no rate limit and no per-owner cap: any signed-in wallet grows state.json without bound and makes every nsk_ lookup a linear scanapps/engine/src/server.ts:471
Sign-in is free (any wallet signs a nonce). Every other write route is wrapped in limited(...), but /api/keys POST is not, and Auth.createKey (auth.ts:95-101) pushes a record into store.apiKeys with no ceiling per owner or in total. store.apiKeys is persisted in the single state.json snapshot, which Store.flush() re-serialises in full every 3 seconds whenever anything is dirty (store.ts:57-68), and the engine marks the store dirty on every emit.
Auth.owner() (auth.ts:85-90) resolves an nsk_ bearer with
this.keys.find(...), so every /mcp request with any nsk_-prefixed token, authenticated or not, walks the whole array. One wallet can therefore turn a free sign-in into a disk-growth and CPU problem for the server that also holds the company wallets, and a crash during flush leaves a multi-hundred-megabyte state.json to parse at the next start. The /setup change alert misses the keys that redirect the dev fee and the alert channel itself, so a leaked admin token can act quietly despite the stated controlapps/engine/src/server.ts:259
The comment above this line states the control: settings that move money or trust are announced so that a leaked admin token cannot act quietly. The list omits PLATFORM_DEV, which receives 20% of every platform fee in Engine.#withdraw (engine.ts:919-920, 933), and omits TELEGRAM_CHAT_ID, TELEGRAM_BOT_TOKEN, TELEGRAM_ADMIN_IDS and LAUNCH_NOTIFY, which decide where every alert and admin card goes and who may run bot commands.
All of them are in EDITABLE (settings.ts:9-19) and are written by saveSetup -> writeSettings without validation beyond isAddress. POST /api/admin/restart (server.ts:349) applies them. An attacker holding the admin token can first point TELEGRAM_CHAT_ID at a chat they control and restart, after which the alerts for the announced keys reach only them; or simply change PLATFORM_DEV and collect the dev share of every withdrawal with no message to the operator at all.
Solo and duel results accept inputs optimised offline: the seed is handed out up front and the only check is wall-clock, so a bot takes the public boards and the record announcementsapps/engine/src/pinball.ts:200
A 200 KB data: avatar is relayed to every match listener on each progress POST: one player can push hundreds of megabytes a minute through the server to their opponentapps/engine/src/pinball.ts:82
queue() stores an avatar of up to 200,000 characters per player. view() (pinball.ts:65-68) includes
avatarfor both players in every event, and progress() (pinball.ts:111-123) calls emit(m) on each POST, which writes the full view to every SSE listener of the match (server.ts:400).The progress route allows 600 POSTs a minute per IP (server.ts:406), so a single player with a maximal avatar makes the server send up to 600 x 200 KB = 120 MB a minute to the opponent and to every spectator stream of that match, and it does so from the server's own uplink. The avatar is also never checked to be a real SVG, so it is simply a 200 KB payload the server will repeat on request.
Live-readiness treats a generated vault secret as a warning, so /setup reports 'ready for live' while every company key is recoverable from the same volumeapps/engine/src/admin.ts:57
Vault (vault.ts:25-30) writes secret.key next to vault.json when NIGHTSHIFT_SECRET is unset; the AES-GCM layer then protects nothing against anyone who obtains the data volume (backup, snapshot, misconfigured volume mount), since the key sits beside the ciphertext. The same secret also derives the session MAC key (auth.ts:24) and the download-link key (products.ts:22), so possession of the volume also forges owner sessions for every wallet.
The code comment calls this 'wrong for production', yet setupState marks it 'warn', and readyForLive (admin.ts:75) only considers 'block' states, so the dashboard shows the operator a green 'ready for live' with real funds while the vault key is unprotected. The 'auth' and 'url' checks, by contrast, do escalate to 'block' in live mode.

The review is complete.
.imd-findings.jsonholds 20 verified findings, every snippet matches the tree, and no other file was touched. What I did
- Read every file the 27 specialist findings point at (vault, engine withdraw and price refresh, frogpot, server buy/keys/setup/pinball routes, net, products, auth, admin, settings, core shift and policy, planner, x402 seller, keeper, shift-verify, SwapPage) and traced each claim through the code.
- Checked the fee-on-fee arithmetic with the code's own integer formula, confirmed the dead helper has no call site, and confirmed that the vault alone writes in place while the store uses tmp plus rename.
- No Solidity exists in the repository, so no Foundry proofs apply. The repo has no node_modules and the dependency set includes a GitHub-pinned package, so I did not spend the budget installing it. Reproductions are stated as concrete inputs and states against the code.
Result
- All 27 specialist findings reproduced. None were dropped.
- Merged into 20: the withdrawal fee-on-fee (2 reports), the frog epoch cursor and hours reset (3 reports, both loss modes kept in one finding), the x402 settlement gap (2 reports), the DNS-rebinding SSRF (2 reports), and the pinball replay cheat (3 reports).
- Severities: 1 high (vault rewritten in place, one interrupted write loses every company key), 6 medium (fee re-charged on retry, frog pot dropped, settled payment not booked or delivered, SSRF into the product file, unbounded CEO reprice, setup alert missing PLATFORM_DEV and Telegram keys), 12 low, 1 info.
- Two downgrades from the specialists: the unlimited POST /api/keys and the generated-secret readiness check are low rather than medium, since both need either an operator misconfiguration or a long self-inflicted flood to matter.
Own pass
The owner-gated company routes, the MCP withdraw target, and the CSP looked sound. Live withdrawals go only to the signed-in owner, and the static file server resolves paths inside the web dist.

Space Pinball replay only bounds the last input tick to wall-clock: the seed is known up front, so a client can search for optimal inputs with the shipped engine and the server certifies the result asapps/engine/src/pinball.ts:142
A 200 KB data: avatar is relayed to every match listener on each progress POST: one player can push about 120 MB a minute through the server to their opponent and spectatorsapps/engine/src/pinball.ts:82
queue() accepts a data:image/svg+xml;base64 avatar of up to 200,000 characters per player (line 82) and never checks that it decodes to an SVG. view() (lines 65-68) includes
avatarfor both players in every event, and progress() (lines 111-123) calls emit(m) on each POST, which writes the full view to every SSE listener of the match (server.ts:400).The progress route allows 600 POSTs a minute per IP (server.ts:406), so a single player with a maximal avatar makes the server send up to 600 x 200 KB = 120 MB a minute to the opponent and to every spectator stream of that match, from the server's own uplink.
Fix: send the avatar once in the first event or as a separate field fetched by id, cap data: avatars at a few KB (an onchain frog SVG is small), and validate that the base64 decodes to an SVG document.
The ledger that decides withdrawable revenue lives in memory and is flushed only every 3 seconds, so a crash after an on-chain transfer re-creates already-paid revenueapps/engine/src/engine.ts:87
Fix: await store.flush() right after every ledger post that mirrors a chain transfer, or append ledger postings to a write-ahead file synchronously.

buy() posts
imd:<orderId>debiting co::imd by caps.price and sets costImd before IMD confirms admission (lines 166-184).

Keeper falls back to the splitter's whole ETH balance as the burn amount whenever the reserve() read fails for any reason, including a transient RPC errorapps/engine/src/keeper.ts:107
The
.catch(() => bal(ETH))at line 107 is meant for a splitter without a reserve(token) view, but it also fires on a transient RPC error. In that casereservebecomes the splitter's entire ETH balance, which after a skipped-for-dust distribute (balance below 0.005 ETH, line 102) or fees that arrived between distribute and this read includes ETH that belongs to rewards, dev and treasury. burnReserve(ETH, amountIn, minOut) is then simulated and sent with that amountIn.Whether anything is lost depends on the splitter contract (not in this repository) enforcing amountIn <= reserve; if it does, the run just logs a revert, if it does not, undistributed ETH is bought as IMD and burned.
Fix: distinguish 'function missing' (revert data / ABI decoding error) from transport errors, and only fall back on the former; otherwise skip the burn for this run.
Keeper run where distribute(ETH) is skipped (splitter holds 0.004 ETH < DUST.eth) and the reserve() RPC call rejects with an HTTP/timeout error.
Expected: 'burn: reserve unknown' and no burn.
Actual: reserve = 0.004 ETH (the whole balance), quoted via the Quoter, and burnReserve(ETH, 4e15, minOut) is submitted; the outcome depends on the splitter's internal check.

Swap sell path grants the Universal Router a maximum, never-expiring Permit2 allowanceapps/web/src/SwapPage.tsx:97
The first sell approves maxUint256 SHIFT to Permit2 (line 91, standard) and then at line 97 a Permit2 allowance of maxUint160 to the router with expiration 2^48-1. Uniswap's own interface uses a 30-day expiration for the router allowance; the point of Permit2 expirations is to bound exposure if a router is ever compromised or deprecated. Users who sell once through the site keep an unbounded, permanent standing permission for the router to pull all their SHIFT.
Fix: use
amtor a 30-day expiration (Math.floor(Date.now()/1000) + 30*86400), as Uniswap does, re-approving when expired.Connect a wallet holding SHIFT, choose Sell, enter any amount, confirm the two approvals. Read Permit2.allowance(user, SHIFT, V4.router): expected a bounded amount or a 30-day expiration; actual (2^160-1, 281474976710655).
Unused DexScreener price helper in the keeper reads an off-chain, manipulable priceapps/engine/src/keeper.ts:43
ethPerImd() fetches an IMD/ETH price from DexScreener but is never called; the burn's minimum comes from the on-chain Quoter (line 110). Dead code that reads an external price API is a maintenance trap: a future edit could wire an off-chain price into minOut. Remove it, or use it only as a sanity bound against the Quoter.
