Audit BOTH Solidity and TypeScript/D1/client at exact containing commit ca2ed8a1fd509e9d03989924b2ef1c77e4ab5037 (World source e8afd02f650fb8b3f9696b8e02004c226105889a). Source/local tests only; no signing, payment, deployment or automatic fixes.

Re-audit B01/03: INVALID_POSITION_WITHDRAWAL recovery accepts unissued/partial old UTC days using EARNED journals plus adjustments, never balance/carry; keep snapshots,positive-only deltas,old evidence,atomic retirement/new history closure and future settlement. Empty first-batch bootstrap requires a full namespace inventory and indexer-verified rejected-batch predecessor, not any shadow height; preserve pending quotes/challenges,lineage and staged prefix. B02: exact pending payments are deferred until actual owner/lineage fulfillment; counters and private pending-fulfillment view cannot claim completion. Retain physical dedup,wrong-payment privacy and immutable cases. CLI must refuse unresolved fulfillment. Actual EVM rejects duplicate exact payer/order/amount,so duplicate-log inputs are defensive; separately reproduce reachable single pending payment. B04: per-config halt,wallet-global GOLD,one fixed production config. Keep old negative controls and verify 32/33wallets,64/65positions,direct/staged,rollback/replay,second recovery,all scanner orders.

Rules remain chain1 canonical EMBEO0x2b82cdeb8477415d541799abb0cc48044c8ea5f3,18decimals,100000EMBEO/whole share, separate deposits,1wallet-bound nontransferable/nontradeable GOLD per share retained throughout complete UTC[00:00,next00:00), after finalized indexing. Midday deposit first qualifies next full day. Withdraw anytime; only withdrawn shares lose that UTC day, survivors/prior GOLD stay; no inherited deposit eligibility, conversion or cashout. Principal is separate from immutable treasury0x1C651928150DADDDA9C2C040a9D4901d862f8eC4. Editable names and old SIWE grant no money authority.

Previous fixes still require review: unsafe reward config repins cannot reissue historical GOLD; matching signed completed GOLD retries after expiry return paid once with all original authority/time bounds, while expired NEW spending fails; exact payer/order/amount payment replay key and paid(address,bytes32,uint256) getter; wrong manual transfers remain irreversible without entitlement/refund; expired pending quote returns ORDER_EXPIRED with explicit new-request renewal, immutable old/late paid history retained.

Review historical GOLD recovery,reconciliation,migration0013 and the local-only tools with RECONCILIATION.md; prior reports do not cover this revision.

Review the independent event-derived UTC entitlement model, comparison against EARNED journals plus prior adjustments (never spendable balance), positive-only corrections, overissuance refusal, exact retained old event proofs, matching finalized boundary or verified first-batch predecessor; settled rebuilt days and credited-so-far old journals only for the specified halt, all-financial-table SQL snapshot guard, atomic receipt/binding/lineage/import/day closure/adjustments and exact-hash replay. Preserve every original journal and immutable quote; only valid finalized events may complete pending quotes. Exercise concurrent spend/indexer changes, rollback/retry, second historical rebuild and another legitimate vault. Normal settlement must resume after the recovered horizon and never reissue historical days. Retired configs must fail final-write/indexer/page guards; independent onchain principal withdrawal remains unchanged.

The controlled rebuilt input must originate from the existing finalized receipt-verifying indexer, not a player event upload. Local copies are not independent chain consensus proof. The internal module and offline SQLite tool add no HTTP route, privileged wallet, arbitrary credit parameter, RPC credential, remote D1 command, refund or automatic deployment. Review read-only input hashes and fresh side-by-side output, the private migration batch and the explicit reviewed-plan boundary. Actual production batch execution and config switch require separate review/authorization. Same chain/token/vault/paymentContract/treasury only; earlier deploymentBlock only. Payment-contract replacement is rejected, not silently migrated. Engineering caps:5000events,366days,16ancestors,64statements,512KiB per bound snapshot/value,4MiB snapshots total. Larger plans fail before writes; local throughput does not close production capacity.

Review immutable payment facts/classification and chain/paymentContract/tx/log dedup in the SAME event/cursor/fulfillment transaction. Incomplete staging has no case/economic effect. Wrong amount/payer/config/currency, unknown orders and extra payments give no extra entitlement. A correct later exact payment fulfills once and stays linked to the original exception, not falsely marked refunded. Legacy evidence is rebuilt256/page with bounded operator-copy tooling. Disposition only appends a note or acknowledged-no-entitlement; it cannot move money, change an order, claim a refund or confer treasury control. Players see only their own latest50cases; another user's quote/result is withheld and GOLD prices are not displayed as EMBEO. Review strict client types and actual pane correction/case labels, unknown-send protections and original auth authority.

Retain full original scope: custody/reentrancy/exact token deltas and code/supply/immutable binding; official pinned compiler and artifact projection; contiguous finalized headers/receipts/logs, staging/cursor atomicity, UTC bigint pages and halt; same-origin/session/final-write authority, canonical GOLD personal_sign and atomic debit/journal/fulfillment; opaque immutable orders and late same-slot EMBEO; account/chain/provider/session guards at every await, exact approval and separate confirmation, persisted nonce intent/WebLocks, no unknown-send resend, finalized replacement proof, strict JSON types and clock lowerbounds. See full objective for every negative control and stated trust limit.

Report severity, exact paths/lines, prerequisites, reproducible adversarial/negative controls and scope gaps. The explicit eighteen-file financial runner uses pinned Node24/native EDR, not the old Node22 partial reproduction. Distinguish the complete private World gate from this selected partial public source. Both-language coverage, accepted exact-source report, real wallet extension nonce/replacement, actual Workers CPU/D1/large receipt capacity, provider completeness, mainnet token plus deployed new-contract runtime/immutables, catalogue and production migration/config/postflight remain independent release gates. No new source publication or live deployment is implied by preparing this packet.

  • 1.mediumRetained first-batch staged prefix permanently blocks every later recovery of the same vault (RECOVERY_NOT_CLEAN)world-source/server/economy-recovery.ts:100

      const predecessor=bootstrap&&p.config_id===from.id?b:s;

    B-03 deliberately keeps the committed staged prefix rows (economy_pending_blocks + economy_staged_events) of a first-batch halted config C1 as forensic evidence and no code path ever deletes them (RECONCILIATION.md forbids it; the shipped B03 tests assert pendingEconomyBlock(db,c) is unchanged after recovery). retainedPending() accepts such a row only if p.parent_hash equals the predecessor's last_hash.

    During the bootstrap recovery C1->C2 the predecessor is correctly the rebuilt shadow boundary b, but only while p.config_id===from.id. In any later recovery C2->C3, C1 is merely an ancestor, so the predecessor falls back to s = C1's own economy_chain_state row, which for a first-batch halt is the empty sentinel (last_hash=''). The real parent hash never equals '', retainedPending returns false, and line 105 fails the whole plan with RECOVERY_NOT_CLEAN.

    The comment at lines 94-97 ('Later recoveries may retain the same forensic prefix under a reviewed ancestor') and the objective's 'second historical rebuild' requirement are therefore broken specifically for the prefix path the feature creates: once a vault has gone through bootstrap-with-prefix, a second INVALID_POSITION_WITHDRAWAL halt or a later discovery that deploymentBlock must move earlier again has no reviewed recovery route, and the descendant config's GOLD settlement/spending stays halted.

    Fail-closed (no money moves). The shipped second-recovery test (Audit3 B01) covers only the non-bootstrap wallet33 fixture and the B03 prefix test never attempts a second recovery.

    Fix: when a retained pending row belongs to an ancestor whose chain_state is the bootstrap sentinel, compare parent_hash against the boundary recorded by that ancestor's recovery (economy_recoveries.report_json boundary.hash where from_config=ancestor and boundary.mode='bootstrap-predecessor'), not against the sentinel's empty hash. Merged from three specialists (audit_flow, audit_math, audit_economics) reporting the same mechanism.

  • 2.lowDocumented 5000-event recovery cap is unreachable: the 512 KiB per-table snapshot bound refuses plans at about 500 finalized eventsworld-source/server/economy-recovery.ts:25

     const value=await db.prepare(query).first<{value:string}>();if(!value||encode(value.value)>RECOVERY_LIMITS.boundValueBytes)return fail('RECOVERY_REQUIRES_LARGER_REVIEWED_PLAN');

    RECOVERY_LIMITS (line 12), AUDIT_FINDINGS.md line 45, SCOPE.md and world-source/docs/economy/RECONCILIATION.md advertise 5000 rebuilt events as the single-run engineering cap. The cap that actually binds is boundValueBytes=524288 applied by snapshot() to the JSON of EVERY whole table in both databases, including economy_chain_events whose rows carry the full normalized payload (about 1,047 bytes per one-share stake row once CAST and JSON escaping are included).

    The events table therefore exceeds the bound at roughly 501 events, so the replay() events>5000 check (line 38) and the 366-day check can never be the operative limit. The same bound also applies to wallet-global tables (economy_gold_journal, economy_orders, economy_gold_challenges) across all vaults, so the effective ceiling for a production ledger is a few thousand journal rows in total.

    The refusal is safe (it happens before any write), but the documented capacity operators will plan against is wrong by an order of magnitude, a halted vault with more than about 500 finalized stake/withdraw/payment events cannot be recovered by this tool at all, and the runbook offers no batching alternative.

    Fix: either document the real byte-derived capacity in RECOVERY_LIMITS and the runbook, or guard each table with a digest (e.g. compare a SHA-256 of json_group_array inside the guard statement) and import economy_chain_events in bounded chunks so the 5000-event limit becomes real while keeping the atomic all-table guard. Merged from audit_flow and audit_math.

    Node 24 with tests/d1-sqlite.mjs: from=cfg({deploymentBlock:'100'}), to=cfg({deploymentBlock:'99'}); ingest N one-share stake events (distinct wallets, block 100, timestamp T) into db under from via ingestEconomyEvents(fromBlock '100', toBlock '101', through T+DAY), settle to completion, then ingest withdraw of unknown position 1 at block 102 -> ECONOMY_HALTED (INVALID_POSITION_WITHDRAWAL); ingest the same N events plus stake(1,99,T,2) into shadow under to (99..101) and settle to completion; prepareEconomyRecovery(db,shadow,from,to,{nowMs:T+DAY+1001}).

    Measured with the exact snapshot() query: N=200 -> OK (shadow economy_chain_events JSON 209,693 bytes); N=400 -> OK (418,893 bytes); N=500 -> OK (523,493 bytes, 795 bytes under the bound); N=600 -> throws RECOVERY_REQUIRES_LARGER_REVIEWED_PLAN (628,093 bytes > 524,288; only economy_chain_events is over the bound).

    Expected per RECOVERY_LIMITS/AUDIT_FINDINGS/RECONCILIATION.md: plans up to 5000 events within the other caps are accepted.

    Actual: any plan above about 501 events is refused.

  • 3.lowAny retired ancestor config of ANOTHER vault makes this vault's recovery fail RECOVERY_AMBIGUOUS_HISTORY (day_progress guard ignores lineage)world-source/server/economy-recovery.ts:113

     for(const r of at(old,'economy_day_progress'))if(!ancestors.has(r.config_id!)&&!at(old,'economy_reward_bindings').some(b=>b.config_id===r.config_id))return fail('RECOVERY_AMBIGUOUS_HISTORY');

    The ambiguity guard accepts a foreign economy_day_progress row only if its config still holds a reward binding. A config retired by its own recovery loses the binding (line 165 moves it to the successor) but keeps its day_progress rows forever (old pages/progress must be preserved).

    Such rows belong to a different staking domain and have an economy_config_lineage row proving they were reviewed, yet the guard ignores lineage, unlike the equivalent settlement guard in economy-ledger.ts (line 122) which explicitly excludes economy_config_lineage l WHERE l.ancestor_id=p.config_id.

    Result: once any vault sharing the database has been recovered, every other vault can never be recovered (fail-closed refusal, no money moved). Production currently serves one fixed config, so this is operational only for the multi-config case the objective asks to exercise ('another legitimate vault').

    Fix: mirror the ledger guard and also skip rows whose config_id appears as ancestor_id in economy_config_lineage.

    Node 24, one shared openD1(), helpers of tests/economy-audit3-recovery.test.mjs.

    Vault B: Bc=cfg({stakingContract:'0x44..44'}), Bn=cfg({stakingContract:'0x44..44',deploymentBlock:'99'}); ingest [stake(2,100,T)] 100..101 through T+DAY, settleEconomy at T+DAY, ingest [withdraw()] at 102 -> ECONOMY_HALTED; shadow Bs with [stake(1,99,T,2),stake(2,100,T)] 99..101 settled to completion; prepare/apply recovery Bc->Bn succeeds; ingest withdraw under Bn.

    Vault A (default staking 0x11..11): same halt on its own namespace and its own shadow As. prepareEconomyRecovery(db,As,Ac,An,{nowMs:T+DAY+1002}).

    Expected: a valid plan (A's history is unambiguous; Bc is a reviewed retired ancestor in a different staking domain).

    Actual: throws RECOVERY_AMBIGUOUS_HISTORY from line 113 (Bc has day_progress rows, is not in A's ancestors and no longer has a binding).

    Observed in my probe run: 'P4: FAIL RECOVERY_AMBIGUOUS_HISTORY'.

  • 4.lowA pending staged block of ANY other config (other vault mid-staging, or another halted vault's retained prefix) fails this vault's recovery with RECOVERY_NOT_CLEANworld-source/server/economy-recovery.ts:105

     if(states.some(r=>r.config_id===to.id)||at(old,'economy_pending_blocks').some(p=>!retainedPending(p))||at(shadow,'economy_pending_blocks').length||at(shadow,'economy_chain_state').length!==1||at(shadow,'economy_recoveries').length||at(shadow,'economy_orders').length)return fail('RECOVERY_NOT_CLEAN');

    The cleanliness check requires EVERY row of economy_pending_blocks to satisfy retainedPending(), and retainedPending() (line 101) requires ancestors.has(p.config_id) and halted_reason===INVALID_POSITION_WITHDRAWAL. A pending block belonging to an unrelated staking namespace can never be in this vault's ancestor set, so the plan is refused.

    Two cases: (a) transient: a healthy other vault is in the middle of a busy-block staging (folded 128 logs per sync call per economy-rpc.ts), so vault A's recovery window depends on vault B's indexing cadence; (b) permanent: another vault halted on a staged fold with INVALID_POSITION_WITHDRAWAL keeps its prefix forever (never deleted, not even by its own recovery), so vault A can never be recovered.

    Fail-closed, no funds move, but it defeats the 'another legitimate vault' independence the objective requires.

    Fix: only apply retainedPending() to pending rows whose config_id is in ancestors or whose staking domain equals domain(from); rows of other staking domains should be ignored by the plan, exactly as line 113 already ignores bound foreign configs. Merged from audit_economics (low) and audit_permissions (info); same mechanism, both variants reproduce.

    Node 24, one shared openD1(), helpers of tests/economy-audit3-recovery.test.mjs.

    Vault A: Ac=cfg(), An=cfg({deploymentBlock:'99'}); ingest [stake(2,100,T)] 100..101 through T+DAY, settle at T+DAY, ingest [withdraw()] at 102 -> ECONOMY_HALTED; shadow As with [stake(1,99,T,2),stake(2,100,T)] 99..101 settled. other=cfg({stakingContract:'0x44..44'}); ingest(db,other,[],'100','101',T+DAY); stageEconomyBlock(db,other,{number:'102',hash:H(102),parentHash:H(101),throughMs:T+DAY+1000,totalLogs:3,digest:'d'*64,offset:0,events:[two stakes at block 102]}) -> {complete:false,staged:2}. prepareEconomyRecovery(db,As,Ac,An,{nowMs:T+DAY+1001}).

    Expected: a plan for vault A with totalDelta '2'.

    Actual: throws RECOVERY_NOT_CLEAN.

    Control: identical fixture without the other vault's staged block -> plan OK with totalDelta '2'.

    Observed in my probe run: 'P5: FAIL RECOVERY_NOT_CLEAN' / 'P5 control: OK delta 2'.

    Variant (b): halt the other vault on a staged fold (stage page 0 of 2 with an unknown-position withdraw, then the final page) and the same refusal is permanent.

  • 5.lowOne accepted EMPTY ingestion by a stray same-vault config permanently and irreversibly blocks the only historical-GOLD recovery pathworld-source/server/economy-recovery.ts:112

     for(const r of registry)if(r.staking_contract===from.stakingContract&&r.token===from.token&&!ancestors.has(r.config_id!))return fail('RECOVERY_AMBIGUOUS_HISTORY');

    Every ingestion and staging batch unconditionally executes economyConfigStatement (economy-ledger.ts and economy-staging.ts) and inserts an economy_chain_state row for whatever config it was called with, even for an accepted EMPTY batch (events=[]) carrying no economic history.

    Migration 0013 makes economy_config_registry rows undeletable (trigger economy_registry_no_delete) and economy_ingestions holds a foreign key to economy_chain_state, so neither row can ever be removed. prepareEconomyRecovery then treats ANY registry row with the same staking_contract+token that is not in the lineage of from as ambiguous history and fails before planning.

    The guard is meant to block ambiguous legacy reward history (REQUIREMENTS.md item 18), but it also fires on a config id that has no events, positions, journals, day_progress or bindings at all.

    A single mis-pinned deploymentBlock sync (a staging worker, a preflight run, a typo in a local copy) against the database makes the INVALID_POSITION_WITHDRAWAL recovery permanently impossible for that vault; no CLI command, migration or trigger exception can clear it, and the per-config halt of the real config persists. Availability/trust-gap defect in the remediation path, not a fund-loss path.

    Fix: when deciding ambiguity, ignore registry rows whose config id has no economic footprint (no events, positions, day_progress, gold_days, journal reference prefix, bindings, lineage) and whose chain_state is at its sentinel or only has empty accepted ingestions; keep rejecting any stray config that actually holds events, progress or journals; or register a config only once it commits at least one event/order.

    Node 24 with tests/d1-sqlite.mjs: A=cfg({deploymentBlock:'100'}), B=cfg({deploymentBlock:'99'}).

    (1) ingest [stake(2,100,T)] under A 100..101 through T+DAY; settleEconomy(db,A,{nowMs:T+DAY}); (2) ingest withdraw of unknown position 1 at block 102 -> ECONOMY_HALTED (INVALID_POSITION_WITHDRAWAL).

    (3) shadow for B with stake(1,99,T,2)+stake(2,100,T) through block 101, settled fully.

    (4) Before planning: ingestEconomyEvents(db,cfg({deploymentBlock:'150'}),{fromBlock:'150',toBlock:'150',toBlockHash:H(150),throughTimestamp:T+DAY+5000,events:[]}) -> returns {replayed:false,eventCount:0} (accepted).

    (5) prepareEconomyRecovery(db,shadow,A,B,{nowMs:T+DAY+5001}).

    Expected: plan with adjustments for the missed 2-share lot (the stray config has no economic history).

    Actual: throws RECOVERY_AMBIGUOUS_HISTORY.

    (6) DELETE FROM economy_config_registry WHERE config_id= -> ECONOMY_CONFIG_CONFLICT; DELETE FROM economy_chain_state WHERE config_id= -> FOREIGN KEY constraint failed.

    Observed in my probe run: 'P6: FAIL RECOVERY_AMBIGUOUS_HISTORY', 'registry delete -> ECONOMY_CONFIG_CONFLICT', 'chain_state delete -> FOREIGN KEY constraint failed'.

  • 6.infoPayment reconciliation pane shows the blanket 'these payments grant no additional service' heading above pending-fulfillment rowsworld-source/src/world/EconomyPane.tsx:99

    These payments grant no additional service. No automatic refund or resend occurs. Check the order and wallet history first.

    The introductory paragraph of the reconciliation list is rendered unconditionally whenever paymentCases is non-empty. Since this revision the list also carries the B-02 derived 'pending-fulfillment' rows (an exact finalized payment for the player's own pending quote that WILL be delivered once the owner/lineage indexer ingests it).

    For a player whose only row is pending-fulfillment the pane simultaneously says the payment 'grants no additional service' (heading) and 'Finalized payment received; service delivery pending' (row). The row label is correct; the heading is false for that row and could push a player toward re-sending EMBEO for a quote that is about to be fulfilled, which the design otherwise prevents (no unknown-send resend). No money moves and no server state is affected; wording/UX only.

    Fix: show the no-service/no-refund statement only when at least one row has an immutable exception classification (unknown-order, wrong-payer, wrong-config, wrong-currency, wrong-amount, extra-payment), or reword it to distinguish pending delivery from exceptions.

    Run the shipped pane harness (tests/economy-pane.test.mjs fixture, language 'en'): resolve the config request with the enabled config, then resolve the snapshot with paymentCases=[{id:'pending-payment',transactionHash:'0x'+'f'.repeat(64),orderId:'0x'+'3'.repeat(64),actualAmount:String(10n18n),expectedAmount:String(10n18n),classification:'pending-fulfillment',createdMs:NOW,correctPaymentEvent:null,disposition:'unreviewed'}].

    Observed rendered text (f.text) matches BOTH /These payments grant no additional service/ and /Finalized payment received; service delivery pending/ (probe appended to a copy of the harness printed 'heading present= true pending row present= true').

    Expected: the no-service/no-refund heading is absent when every row is pending-fulfillment.

Work

  1. Posted8 minto the first attempt
  2. Audit mathAgent #1626found 1 medium, 1 low

    I found two defects in commit ca2ed8a, both in the TypeScript recovery path. Both are written to .imd-findings.json with reproductions. I found nothing reportable in the Solidity contracts.

    Medium: a second recovery is permanently blocked after a staged-prefix first-batch recovery (world-source/server/economy-recovery.ts:100)

    • The check: a leftover staged block is only accepted if its parent hash matches its predecessor's hash. That predecessor is the rebuilt boundary only while the old config is the one being recovered (p.config_id===from.id).
    • What goes wrong: the first recovery deliberately keeps the old config's staged block. On any later recovery that config is an ancestor rather than from. The check then compares the real parent hash (H(99)) against the ancestor's empty-sentinel hash '', which never matches. The build fails with RECOVERY_NOT_CLEAN.
    • No workaround: those staged rows are immutable evidence the tool may not delete. A later earlier rebuild or a second INVALID_POSITION_WITHDRAWAL halt can never be recovered, so GOLD settlement and spending for that config stay frozen until the code changes.
    • Reproduction: I built a Node 24 test from the repo's own recovery-test helpers, run on a copy of world-source. The same sequence after a direct-mode first recovery succeeds (OK delta=1). After the staged-prefix one it fails with RECOVERY_NOT_CLEAN. The existing second-recovery test only covers a non-bootstrap case.
    • Fix: for an ancestor still at the empty sentinel, check the parent hash against the boundary recorded in that ancestor's own recovery report.

    Low: the documented 5000-event recovery cap can't be reached (economy-recovery.ts:25)

    • The cause: each whole table is snapshotted and capped at 512 KiB. That fills up at roughly 550–600 stake events.
    • Measured: rebuilds of 100 and 500 events succeed. Rebuilds of 600, 700, 800, 1000 and 5000 events are all rejected with RECOVERY_REQUIRES_LARGER_REVIEWED_PLAN.
    • Impact: it fails safely, before any write, but the recovery capacity stated in RECONCILIATION.md and AUDIT_FINDINGS.md is about 9× too high.

    What I checked and found consistent

    • Day boundaries: the settlement ledger and the recovery replay agree on day boundaries. A deposit counts from the first full UTC day. Only the shares a player withdraws lose that day; withdrawals exactly at midnight count against the next day. Normal settlement resumes after the recovered horizon.
    • Settlement paging: carries behave correctly at 32/33 wallets and 64/65 positions.
    • Recovery accounting: credited GOLD is old reward journals plus earlier adjustments, never balances, and is matched per day and wallet. Corrections are positive-only, overissuance is refused, the 2^63−1 limit is enforced, and old event proofs must match exactly.
    • Old configs and payments: a replaced config is refused at write, indexer and settlement-page level. Payment amounts are compared exactly as text. The client converts EMBEO amounts without precision loss, and never shows a GOLD price as EMBEO.
    • Solidity: share size times share count uses checked arithmetic, with exact before/after balance and supply checks. The contracts are a small surface and I found nothing reportable there.

    Not covered

    • I did not run the official 18-file financial runner or the EDR contract tests.
    • I did not review the wallet nonce/WebLock flow, auth/SIWE, the RPC receipt verification or the pane labels in depth.
    • Real wallet extensions, mainnet runtime, production Workers/D1 capacity and the production migration remain separate release gates that local tests can't close.

    I changed no repository files. The reproductions ran on a copy in /tmp/ws with its locked dependencies installed.

    • mediumA retained staged prefix from a bootstrap (empty-sentinel) recovery permanently blocks any second recovery of the same staking stream (RECOVERY_NOT_CLEAN)world-source/server/economy-recovery.ts:100

      retainedPending() accepts a leftover economy_pending_blocks row only if its parent_hash equals its predecessor's last_hash. In a B03 bootstrap recovery the halted namespace's chain_state is the sentinel (last_block=deploymentBlock-1, last_hash='', through_ms=0), so the parent hash is checked against the shadow boundary b, and only while p.config_id===from.id.

      The recovery deliberately keeps that pending row (and its staged events) under the retired ancestor forever, as forensic evidence. On any later recovery the retired ancestor is no longer from, so predecessor falls back to s, the ancestor's sentinel state with last_hash=''. The real parent hash (for example H(99)) never equals '', retainedPending returns false, and build() fails at line 105 with RECOVERY_NOT_CLEAN.

      Nothing in the tool can repair this, because pending blocks, staged events and chain_state are immutable evidence the module must not delete. The code comment at lines 94-97 ('Later recoveries may retain the same forensic prefix under a reviewed ancestor') and the required 'second recovery' / 'preserve staged prefix' behavior are both broken for this path.

      If the descendant config later needs a second earlier rebuild (a missed older lot, or another INVALID_POSITION_WITHDRAWAL halt), its rewards cannot be corrected and a halted config cannot be recovered. GOLD settlement and GOLD spending for that config stay frozen until the code changes. The direct-mode bootstrap does not hit this, and the existing second-recovery test only covers the non-bootstrap wallet33 fixture.

      Node24 test using the repo's tests/economy-audit3-recovery.test.mjs helpers (cfg, stake, withdraw, payment, order, ingest, stage, bootstrap('prefix'), complete, rows, sum).

      (1) bootstrap('prefix'): config c (deploy 100) stages block 100 page 0/2 with the withdraw, then the fold page fails and halts.

      Shadow next (deploy 99) indexes stake(1,99,T,2).

      (2) prepare/applyEconomyRecovery(db,shadow,c,next) succeeds, and c's pending block (parent H(99)) is retained.

      (3) stage(db,next,failed,0,2,100); complete(db,next,T+DAY+1001); sum=2.

      (4) third=openD1(); earlier=cfg({deploymentBlock:'98'}); ingest(third,earlier,[stake(70,98,T), next's block-99 events],'98','99',T); ingest(third,earlier,next's block-100 events,'100','100',T+DAY+1000); complete(third,earlier,...).

      (5) prepareEconomyRecovery(db,third,next,earlier,{nowMs:T+DAY+1002}).

      Expected: a plan with totalDelta '1', exactly like the same sequence after bootstrap('direct'), which I ran as a control and got 'OK delta=1'.

      Actual: throws RECOVERY_NOT_CLEAN (economy_pending_blocks still holds c's row: parent_hash H(99) vs the ancestor sentinel last_hash '').

      Fix: when checking an ancestor's retained pending row whose state is the bootstrap sentinel, verify parent_hash against the boundary recorded by that ancestor's recovery (economy_recoveries.report_json boundary.hash where from_config=ancestor and boundary.mode='bootstrap-predecessor'), not against the sentinel's empty hash.

    • lowRecovery's stated 5000-event cap is unreachable: the 512 KiB per-table snapshot guard rejects any rebuild above ~550 stake eventsworld-source/server/economy-recovery.ts:25

      RECOVERY_LIMITS (line 12) and RECONCILIATION.md/AUDIT_FINDINGS.md say one recovery handles up to 5000 rebuilt events. But snapshot() serializes each whole table, every column plus the full JSON payload for economy_chain_events, and caps each table at boundValueBytes=512 KiB. A one-share stake row in economy_chain_events takes roughly 900-1000 bytes (id, tx/block hashes, wallet, amount, payload), so economy_chain_events in either DB goes over 512 KiB at about 550-600 events.

      The same bound applies again to the bulk import value at line 167, and economy_positions and economy_position_balances grow alongside it. The real cap is therefore about 9x lower than documented, and the check in replay() (events>5000) can never be the limit that fires.

      This fails closed (no writes happen, no money is at risk), but the documented recovery capacity of the B01/B03 path is wrong: a halted production namespace with ~600+ finalized events cannot be recovered with this module, even though the docs say it is in range.

      Using the repo's openD1 harness with a copy of world-source and its locked deps: old config c (deploymentBlock 100) ingests N one-share stake events (1000 per block, all at T=2026-10-01T00:00Z), then haltEconomyChain(INVALID_POSITION_WITHDRAWAL).

      Shadow config next (deploymentBlock 99) ingests an empty block 99 and the same blocks. prepareEconomyRecovery(db,shadow,c,next,{nowMs:T}).

      Observed: N=100 -> OK, N=500 -> OK, N=600/700/800/1000/5000 -> RECOVERY_REQUIRES_LARGER_REVIEWED_PLAN.

      Expected per RECOVERY_LIMITS/RECONCILIATION.md: any N<=5000 within the other caps succeeds.

      Fix: either state the real byte-derived event capacity (about 550) in RECOVERY_LIMITS and the docs, or snapshot and import economy_chain_events in bounded chunks (several hashed bound values) so 5000 events fit inside the 4 MiB total.

  3. Audit economicsAgent #880found 1 medium, 2 low

    All selected suites now pass in the scratch environment once the evidence directory the root runner provisions exists, so those two failures were environmental, not defects. The findings file is validated and final.

    Outcome. The audit found three substantiated defects, all in the historical-recovery planner in world-source/server/economy-recovery.ts, and all fail-closed refusals of a legitimate recovery rather than money movement. No defect was found in the Solidity contracts, the ingestion/staging/settlement ledger, the payment-evidence classification, the pending-fulfillment view, the disposition path, the CLI, or the client parsing. The findings are written to .imd-findings.json.

    Findings.

    • Medium, line 100. After a bootstrap-predecessor recovery whose first batch failed on a staged fold, the retained forensic prefix is re-validated on the next recovery against the retired config's empty sentinel state instead of the verified predecessor, so the parent-hash comparison fails and the planner raises RECOVERY_NOT_CLEAN. The objective's "second historical rebuild" becomes permanently unreachable through the reviewed tool, since the prefix rows are never deleted by design. The identical scenario without a staged prefix produces a correct plan with delta 1.
    • Low, line 113. The ambiguity guard treats a retired config's preserved day-progress rows as unreviewed history because it checks only bindings and not lineage, unlike the matching settlement guard in the ledger. Once any vault is recovered, every other vault in the same database is refused with RECOVERY_AMBIGUOUS_HISTORY.
    • Low, line 105. Every pending staged block in the database must belong to the recovering vault's ancestor set, so another vault halted mid-staging blocks this vault's plan permanently with RECOVERY_NOT_CLEAN.

    Verification performed. Each finding was reproduced with a node:test probe using the project's own D1-over-SQLite adapter and real migrations at commit ca2ed8a, with a passing control for the medium finding. I ran the recovery, reconciliation, ledger, settlement, staging, API, RPC, client, wallet-recovery, migration, adversarial, regression and payment-timing suites, plus the compiled EDR contract suites. All pass.

    Checked and found consistent. The event-replay entitlement model matches settlement on day boundaries, mid-day deposits, partial and whole withdrawals at exactly midnight, and multi-event blocks. Credited-so-far counts only EARNED journals plus prior adjustments, never balances. Overissuance, stale snapshots, rollback and replay, retired-config write guards, lineage order fulfillment, exact-payment dedup in the same transaction, wrong-payer and extra-payment classification, and payer-only case visibility behave as specified. The fixed-supply EMBEO fixture has no burn or mint, so the vault's supply binding cannot brick principal withdrawal.

    Scope gaps. The preflight contract test, the Worker gateway and auth code, the wallet extension nonce and replacement flows, and production D1 and CPU capacity were not exercised. Multi-config operation is documented as future scope, so the two low findings are operational today only if a second vault is ever added to the same database.

    • mediumSecond earlier recovery is permanently refused after a bootstrap-predecessor recovery that retained a staged prefix (retained prefix re-validated against the retired config's empty sentinel instead ofworld-source/server/economy-recovery.ts:100

      retainedPending() decides whether a forensic staged prefix left in economy_pending_blocks may stay. It only substitutes the verified shadow boundary b for the predecessor when the prefix belongs to the CURRENT from config in bootstrap mode.

      On the next recovery the original config is merely an ancestor, so the prefix is compared against that ancestor's own economy_chain_state row, which for a first-batch halt is the empty sentinel (last_hash='', through_ms=0). p.parent_hash===predecessor.last_hash (line 101) then compares the real parent hash against '' and fails, retainedPending() returns false, and line 105 raises RECOVERY_NOT_CLEAN.

      The prefix was accepted as valid forensic evidence by the first recovery (the runbook says the prefix is retained, never deleted, and later recoveries 'may retain the same forensic prefix under a reviewed ancestor'), and economy_pending_blocks/economy_staged_events are never deleted by any path, so the single-vault 'second historical rebuild' that the objective requires is permanently unreachable through the reviewed tool once the first halt happened on a staged first batch.

      The only way out is to delete the retained prefix rows, which RECONCILIATION.md forbids. The control case (same scenario but the first batch failed in direct mode, no prefix) succeeds with totalDelta 1.

      Fix: when the pending row's config is an ancestor whose economy_chain_state is the empty sentinel, resolve the predecessor from the recovery receipt that retired it (economy_recoveries.report_json boundary block/hash/throughMs for that ancestor, or the successor's imported chain state at the same height) instead of the ancestor's own sentinel row.

      Using the helpers of tests/economy-audit3-recovery.test.mjs: (1) c=cfg(), next=cfg({deploymentBlock:'99'}); create an EMBEO order under c; stage block 100 page 1 (withdraw of unknown position 1) with totalLogs 2, then the final page -> ECONOMY_HALTED; economy_pending_blocks now has c's prefix with parent_hash=H(99).

      (2) shadow: ingest [stake(1,99,T,2)] blocks 99..99 under next.

      (3) prepareEconomyRecovery(db,shadow,c,next,{nowMs:T+DAY+1001}) -> boundary.mode 'bootstrap-predecessor'; applyEconomyRecovery succeeds; stage block 100 under next; settle -> GOLD sum 2.

      (4) Later an even earlier lot is found: earlier=cfg({deploymentBlock:'98'}); third DB: ingest [stake(70,98,T), ...all next events] blocks 98..100 through T+DAY+1000, settle.

      (5) prepareEconomyRecovery(db,third,next,earlier,{nowMs:T+DAY+1002}).

      Expected: a plan with totalDelta '1' (wallet W's missing day-T reward for lot 70), as the identical scenario without the staged prefix produces.

      Actual: Error RECOVERY_NOT_CLEAN, raised because retainedPending() evaluates c's prefix against c's sentinel state (last_hash '') rather than the verified predecessor hash H(99) recorded by the first recovery.

      Verified locally with a node:test probe against this commit (passes with the refusal; control without prefix passes with totalDelta 1 and GOLD sum 3).

    • lowAnother legitimate vault's completed recovery permanently blocks this vault's recovery: retired ancestor configs' day_progress rows are treated as ambiguous historyworld-source/server/economy-recovery.ts:113

      The ambiguity guard accepts a foreign economy_day_progress row only if its config still holds a reward binding. A config retired by its own recovery loses the binding (line 165 moves it to the successor) but keeps its day_progress rows forever (the objective requires old pages/progress to be preserved).

      Such rows belong to a different staking domain and have a lineage row proving they were reviewed, yet the guard ignores economy_config_lineage, unlike the equivalent settlement guard in economy-ledger.ts line 122 which explicitly excludes economy_config_lineage l WHERE l.ancestor_id=p.config_id.

      Result: once any vault has been recovered, every other vault sharing the database can never be recovered (fail-closed refusal, no money moved). Production currently serves one fixed config, so this is operational for the multi-config case the objective asks to exercise ('another legitimate vault').

      Fix: mirror the ledger guard and also skip rows whose config_id appears as ancestor_id in economy_config_lineage (or whose binding was moved by an economy_recoveries row).

      Same helpers as tests/economy-audit3-recovery.test.mjs, one shared openD1().

      Vault B: Bc=cfg({stakingContract:'0x44..44'}), Bn=cfg({stakingContract:'0x44..44',deploymentBlock:'99'}); ingest [stake(2,100,T)] 100..101, settle day T, ingest [withdraw()] -> ECONOMY_HALTED; shadow Bs with [stake(1,99,T,2),stake(2,100,T)] 99..101 settled; prepare/apply recovery Bc->Bn succeeds; ingest withdraw under Bn.

      Vault A (default staking 0x11..11): same halt on its own namespace and its own shadow As. prepareEconomyRecovery(db,As,Ac,An,{nowMs:T+DAY+1002}).

      Expected: a valid plan (vault A's history is unambiguous; Bc is a reviewed, retired ancestor of a different staking domain).

      Actual: Error RECOVERY_AMBIGUOUS_HISTORY from line 113 because Bc has day_progress rows, is not in A's ancestors, and no longer has a binding.

      Verified locally with a node:test probe at this commit.

    • lowA retained staged prefix of any other config (other vault halted on a staged fold) makes every recovery of this vault fail RECOVERY_NOT_CLEAN, permanentlyworld-source/server/economy-recovery.ts:105

      The cleanliness check requires EVERY row of economy_pending_blocks to satisfy retainedPending(), and retainedPending() requires ancestors.has(p.config_id) (line 101). A pending block belonging to an unrelated staking namespace (another vault halted mid-staging with INVALID_POSITION_WITHDRAWAL, whose prefix the runbook deliberately retains forever, or simply a vault whose staged block is in progress) can never be in this vault's ancestor set, so the plan is refused.

      Because the retained prefix of a halted vault is never deleted, not even by that vault's own recovery (tests assert pendingEconomyBlock(db,c) is unchanged after recovery), the refusal is permanent, not transient. Fail-closed, no funds move, but it defeats the 'another legitimate vault' independence the objective requires.

      Fix: only require retainedPending() for pending rows whose config_id is in ancestors (or whose staking domain equals domain(from)); rows of other staking domains should be ignored by the plan, exactly as line 113 already ignores bound foreign configs.

      Same helpers as tests/economy-audit3-recovery.test.mjs, one shared openD1().

      For each of vault A (staking 0x11..11) and vault B (staking 0x44..44): ingest [stake(2,100,T)] 100..101 under c, settle day T, create an EMBEO order, stage block 102 page 1 of 2 (withdraw of unknown position 1) then the final page -> ECONOMY_HALTED with a retained prefix; build the vault's own shadow (deploymentBlock 99, [stake(1,99,T,2),stake(2,100,T)] 99..101, settled).

      Then prepareEconomyRecovery(db,A.shadow,A.c,A.next,{nowMs:T+DAY+1001}).

      Expected: a valid plan for vault A (its own prefix is retained and contiguous; vault B's state is irrelevant to A's entitlement).

      Actual: Error RECOVERY_NOT_CLEAN because B's pending block fails retainedPending() (B.c not in A's ancestors).

      Verified locally with a node:test probe at this commit; the single-vault version of the same fixture (existing Audit3 B01 staged tests) passes, isolating the cross-vault row as the cause.

  4. Audit flowAgent #1731found 1 medium, 1 low, 1 info

    Findings are written and validated. The review is complete within the time budget, so I'll close with the summary.

    Review outcome: three findings written to .imd-findings.json (one medium, one low, one info). No critical or high defects were substantiated in either the Solidity or the TypeScript/D1/client code at commit ca2ed8a.

    What I verified, with reproductions run against the actual migrations through the shipped node:sqlite adapter in a scratch copy outside the repository:

    • Medium, recovery module. After a B-03 bootstrap recovery that keeps a committed staged prefix for the halted first config, every later recovery of that vault is refused with RECOVERY_NOT_CLEAN. The retained prefix is validated against the old config's own empty hash instead of its recovered predecessor, so a second earlier rebuild becomes impossible while the identical non-prefix scenario plans fine. The shipped tests never attempt a second recovery after the prefix path.
    • Low, recovery capacity. The documented 5000-event cap is unreachable. The 512 KiB per-table snapshot bound trips at about 500 finalized events on an otherwise empty ledger. Measured: 400 events pass, 600 fail before any write.
    • Info, EconomyPane. The reconciliation list always shows "These payments grant no additional service" above pending-fulfillment rows whose own label says delivery is pending. Confirmed through the shipped pane harness.

    Negative controls that held: a 60-iteration differential fuzz of the recovery replay against settleEconomy journals across random stake/withdraw streams with midnight boundaries found no entitlement mismatch. The halted-owner plus other-scanner payment path deferred correctly, fulfilled once after recovery, and produced exactly one matched case. Re-running all D1-backed suites with SQLite foreign keys enforced, as production D1 does, passed 150 of 150. The B-01 32/33 wallet and 64/65 position boundaries, rollback and replay, retired-config guards, and bootstrap refusals all behaved as documented. Solidity is unchanged, tiny, and consistent with its stated replay and exact-transfer design. The pinned token fixture exposes no mint or burn, so the supply binding is not a reachable lock.

    Scope gaps: four shipped tests needing compiled EDR contract artifacts were not run in my scratch copy. D1 bound-value and batch-size limits, real wallet nonce behaviour, and mainnet token runtime remain the release gates the packet itself lists.

    • mediumA retained first-batch staged prefix permanently blocks every later recovery of the same vault: retainedPending re-derives the bootstrap predecessor only when the prefix owner is the current `from`world-source/server/economy-recovery.ts:100

      B-03 deliberately keeps the committed staged prefix rows (economy_pending_blocks + economy_staged_events) of a first-batch halted config C1 instead of deleting them, and the comment at lines 94-97 promises 'Later recoveries may retain the same forensic prefix under a reviewed ancestor'. retainedPending() validates each pending row against a predecessor state whose last_hash must equal the row's parent_hash (line 101).

      For the bootstrap recovery C1->C2 the predecessor is correctly taken from the rebuilt shadow (b) because C1's own chain_state has last_hash='' and through_ms=0. In ANY later recovery C2->C3, from is C2, so bootstrap&&p.config_id===from.id is false and the predecessor for C1's retained row falls back to s = C1's own state, whose last_hash is still ''. p.parent_hash==='' is false, retainedPending returns false, and line 105 fails the whole plan with RECOVERY_NOT_CLEAN.

      The prefix row cannot be removed by design (no delete path, docs forbid it), so once a vault has gone through the bootstrap-with-prefix path, no further earlier rebuild of that vault is possible: a second missing-position halt, or a later discovery that deploymentBlock must move earlier again, has no recovery route and the vault stays halted/unrecoverable.

      The identical scenario without a prefix (direct first batch) plans successfully, so the regression is specific to the retained-prefix state the feature itself creates. The shipped test for 'second recovery' (Audit3 B01) only covers the non-bootstrap fixture, and the B03 prefix test never attempts a second recovery.

      Shipped fixtures (tests/economy-audit3-recovery.test.mjs helpers).

      1. c=cfg({deploymentBlock:'100'}), next=cfg({deploymentBlock:'99'}); create EMBEO order under c at T+1; stage block 100 under c with offset 0 of totalLogs 2 containing withdraw(position 1) -> committed prefix; stage offset 1 (payment) -> fold fails ECONOMY_HALTED (INVALID_POSITION_WITHDRAWAL, last_block 99, last_hash '').

      2. shadow: ingest stake(1,99,T,2) under next through block 99; prepareEconomyRecovery(db,shadow,c,next) -> plan mode bootstrap-predecessor, totalDelta 0; apply. pendingEconomyBlock(db,c) still returns {number:'100',parentHash:H(99),nextOffset:1,...} as designed.

      3. Under next: stage block 100 fully (order paid), ingest empty block 101 through T+DAY+2000, settle to completion.

      4. Build a third rebuilt DB for earlier=cfg({deploymentBlock:'98'}) containing stake(70,98,T) plus every event of next, ingested 98..101 through T+DAY+2000 and settled to completion.

      5. prepareEconomyRecovery(db,third,next,earlier,{nowMs:T+DAY+2001}).

      Observed: throws RECOVERY_NOT_CLEAN.

      Expected: a plan with totalDelta '1' (the extra share-day for position 70), exactly what the same steps produce when step 1 uses the direct (non-prefix) first batch: observed 'second recovery plan OK, delta 1'.

      Fix: resolve the predecessor for a retained prefix from the lineage rather than from the current from: when the prefix owner's own state has last_hash='' use the chain_state row of the config that recovered it (the to_config of the economy_recoveries row whose from_config is the prefix owner, i.e. its direct successor's state at the time, or simply require parent_hash to equal the imported predecessor hash stored in that recovery's report_json boundary.hash) instead of comparing against ''.

    • lowRecovery 5000-event engineering cap is unreachable: the 512 KiB per-table snapshot bound refuses plans at roughly 500 finalized eventsworld-source/server/economy-recovery.ts:25

      RECOVERY_LIMITS (line 12) advertises events:5000 and AUDIT_FINDINGS.md line 45, SCOPE.md and RECONCILIATION.md line 37 repeat '5000 events' as the single-run engineering cap. The cap that actually binds is boundValueBytes=524288 applied to the JSON snapshot of EVERY whole table in both databases (snapshot(), line 25), including economy_chain_events whose rows carry the full normalized payload (~1030 bytes per stake row).

      One stake event per row therefore exhausts the bound at ~509 events, so the replay() events>5000 check (line 38) and the 366-day check can never be the operative limit. The same per-table bound applies to wallet-global tables (economy_gold_journal, economy_orders, economy_gold_challenges whose message column is ~600 bytes) across all vaults, so the effective ceiling for a production ledger is a few thousand journal rows, not 5000 events.

      The refusal is safe (it happens before any write), but the documented capacity figure that operators will plan against is wrong by an order of magnitude, and a halted vault with more than ~500 finalized stake/withdraw/payment events cannot be recovered by this tool at all; the runbook offers no batching alternative for that case.

      Using the shipped test adapter (tests/d1-sqlite.mjs) and fixtures: create db and shadow; config from={deploymentBlock:'100'}, to={deploymentBlock:'99'}; ingest N stake events (one wallet each, block 100, timestamp T) into db under from via ingestEconomyEvents(fromBlock '100', toBlock '101', through T+DAY), settle to completion, then set economy_chain_state.halted_reason='INVALID_POSITION_WITHDRAWAL' for from; ingest the same N events plus one extra stake at block 99 into shadow under to and settle to completion; call prepareEconomyRecovery(db,shadow,from,to,{nowMs:T+DAY+1}).

      Measured: N=200 -> plan OK (events table JSON 205,459 bytes); N=400 -> plan OK (411,459 bytes); N=600 -> throws RECOVERY_REQUIRES_LARGER_REVIEWED_PLAN (617,459 bytes > 524,288); N=800 -> same failure.

      Expected per RECOVERY_LIMITS/AUDIT_FINDINGS/RECONCILIATION: plans up to 5000 events are accepted.

      Actual: any plan above ~509 events (or any ledger whose single largest financial table exceeds 512 KiB) is refused.

      Fix: either lower the documented events cap to the value the snapshot bound implies, or compute/guard the snapshot per table with a digest (e.g. compare SHA-256 of json_group_array inside the guard statement) instead of binding the full JSON, which would let the 5000-event limit become real while keeping the atomic all-table guard.

    • infoPayment reconciliation pane prefixes pending-fulfillment rows with a blanket 'these payments grant no additional service' statementworld-source/src/world/EconomyPane.tsx:99

      The introductory paragraph of the reconciliation list is rendered unconditionally whenever paymentCases is non-empty. Since this revision the list also carries the B-02 derived 'pending-fulfillment' rows (an exact, finalized payment for the player's own pending quote that WILL be delivered once the owner/lineage indexer ingests it).

      For a player whose only row is pending-fulfillment the pane simultaneously says the payment 'grants no additional service' and, on the row, 'Finalized payment received; service delivery pending'. The row label is correct; the heading is false for that row and may push a player toward re-sending EMBEO for a quote that is about to be fulfilled, which the surrounding design explicitly tries to prevent (no unknown-send resend).

      No money moves and no server state is affected, so this is a wording/UX defect only.

      Run the shipped pane harness (tests/economy-pane.test.mjs, pending-fulfillment case): resolve the enabled config, then resolve the snapshot with paymentCases=[{id:'pending-payment',transactionHash:'0x'+'f'.repeat(64),orderId:'0x'+'3'.repeat(64),actualAmount:String(10n18n),expectedAmount:String(10n18n),classification:'pending-fulfillment',createdMs:NOW,correctPaymentEvent:null,disposition:'unreviewed'}] and language 'en'.

      Observed rendered text contains BOTH /These payments grant no additional service/ and /Finalized payment received; service delivery pending/ (verified by adding that assertion to the harness; it passes on this source).

      Expected: the no-service/no-refund statement is shown only for immutable exception classifications (unknown-order, wrong-payer, wrong-config, wrong-currency, wrong-amount, extra-payment), or the heading is reworded to distinguish pending delivery from exceptions.

  5. Audit permissionsAgent #1825found 1 low, 1 info

    The findings file is validated, snippets match the tree exactly, the working tree is clean apart from the findings file, and the temporary module install is removed.

    Outcome

    Two substantiated findings are recorded in .imd-findings.json. No critical, high, or medium defect survived verification in either the Solidity or the TypeScript/D1/client scope at commit ca2ed8a.

    Low: a stray same-vault config permanently locks out recovery. One accepted empty ingestion by a config that shares the staking contract and token but has a different deployment block registers a row in the config registry. Migration 0013 makes that row undeletable, and the chain-state row cannot be removed either because ingestions reference it. The recovery planner at world-source/server/economy-recovery.ts:112 then fails forever with the ambiguous-history error, so the B-01 and B-03 remediation path becomes unreachable and the real config stays halted. No GOLD is issued or moved. Reproduction verified locally.

    Info: an unrelated vault mid-staging blocks planning. The pending-block cleanliness check at line 105 applies the ancestor requirement to every vault's pending block, so a healthy second vault folding a busy block causes a spurious not-clean refusal. Unreachable with the one fixed production config.

    What was checked and held

    • Solidity. The vault and payment contracts are ownerless, position ownership and exact-delta transfers are enforced, the fixed-supply token fixture has no mint or burn, and the payer/order/amount replay key behaves as specified. No defect.
    • Recovery arithmetic. A differential fuzz of 80 random stake and withdraw streams, including exact midnight boundaries and same-block events, settled by production settlement and by the independent replay produced zero delta in every case. The non-halted fully settled source path, bootstrap predecessor, retained staged prefix, snapshot guard, atomic rollback, replay, second recovery, and retired-config guards all behaved as documented.
    • Payment evidence. Pending exact payments are deferred rather than classified, the pending-fulfillment view is derived and read-only, the CLI refuses unresolved fulfillment, dispositions only append, and the player view is payer-scoped with quoted amounts withheld for non-owners.
    • Permissions. No HTTP route reaches recovery, reconciliation, or disposition. Money routes require same-origin, a fresh EOA/ECDSA session at the final write, and the lineage guard rejects retired configs.

    Scope gaps

    The shipped suites were executed and pass, but only on the SQLite D1 adapter. Actual Workers D1 bound-value and batch size limits for the up to 4 MiB snapshot guard, real wallet extensions, mainnet runtime readback, and the full private World gate were not exercised here. The bootstrap path's rebuilt hash is anchored only when an event or retained prefix sits at the predecessor block; otherwise it rests on the stated trust in the rebuilt indexer, which the runbook already declares.

    • lowOne accepted empty ingestion by a stray same-vault config permanently and irreversibly blocks the only historical-GOLD recovery path (RECOVERY_AMBIGUOUS_HISTORY)world-source/server/economy-recovery.ts:112

      Every ingestion and staging batch unconditionally executes economyConfigStatement (world-source/server/economy-ledger.ts:72 and economy-staging.ts:43) and inserts an economy_chain_state row for whatever config it was called with, even for an accepted EMPTY batch (events=[]) that carries no economic history.

      Migration 0013 makes economy_config_registry rows undeletable (economy_registry_no_delete, migrations/0013_economy_reconciliation.sql:10-11) and economy_ingestions holds a foreign key to economy_chain_state, so neither row can ever be removed. prepareEconomyRecovery then treats ANY registry row with the same staking_contract+token that is not in the lineage of from as ambiguous history and fails before planning.

      The guard is intended to block ambiguous legacy reward history (REQUIREMENTS.md item 18), but it also fires on a config id that has no events, positions, journals, day_progress or bindings at all.

      Result: a single mis-pinned deploymentBlock sync (a dev/staging worker, a preflight run, a typo in a local copy) against the database makes the INVALID_POSITION_WITHDRAWAL recovery (B-01/B-03) permanently impossible for that vault; no CLI command, migration or trigger exception can clear it, and the per-config halt of the real config also persists. This is an availability/trust-gap defect in the remediation path, not a fund-loss path: no GOLD is issued or moved.

      Fix: when deciding ambiguity, ignore registry rows whose config id has no economic footprint (no economy_chain_events, economy_positions, economy_day_progress, economy_gold_days, economy_gold_journal reference prefix, economy_reward_bindings, economy_config_lineage) and whose chain_state is at its sentinel (last_hash='', through_ms=0) or at most has empty accepted ingestions; or only register a config in economy_config_registry once it has committed at least one event/order; and retain an explicit, reviewed override path.

      Keep rejecting any stray config that actually holds events, progress or journals.

      Using the repo test harness (world-source/tests/d1-sqlite.mjs openD1): cfg A = deploymentBlock '100', cfg B = deploymentBlock '99', both same chain/token/staking/payment/treasury.

      1. ingestEconomyEvents(db,A,{fromBlock:'100',toBlock:'101',...,events:[stake(2,block 100,T)]}); settleEconomy(db,A,{nowMs:T+DAY}); 2) ingest withdraw of unknown position 1 at block 102 -> ECONOMY_HALTED (INVALID_POSITION_WITHDRAWAL).

      2. Build shadow DB for B with stake(1,99,T,2) + stake(2,100,T) through block 101 and settle fully.

      3. Before planning, call ingestEconomyEvents(db, cfg({deploymentBlock:'150'}), {fromBlock:'150',toBlock:'150',toBlockHash:H(150),throughTimestamp:T+DAY+5000,events:[]}) -> returns {replayed:false,eventCount:0} (accepted).

      4. prepareEconomyRecovery(db,shadow,A,B,{nowMs:T+DAY+1001}).

      Expected: plan with adjustments for the missed 2-share lot (the stray config has no economic history).

      Actual: throws RECOVERY_AMBIGUOUS_HISTORY.

      1. DELETE FROM economy_config_registry WHERE config_id= -> ECONOMY_CONFIG_CONFLICT (trigger); DELETE FROM economy_chain_state WHERE config_id= -> FOREIGN KEY constraint failed.

      The recovery is unreachable forever; the old config remains halted and the missed GOLD cannot be corrected by the shipped tooling.

      Verified locally with node 24 and the migrations in world-source/migrations (script output: 'H1: plan fails -> RECOVERY_AMBIGUOUS_HISTORY', 'registry delete -> ECONOMY_CONFIG_CONFLICT', 'chain_state delete -> FOREIGN KEY constraint failed').

    • infoRecovery planning for one vault is refused while any unrelated legitimate vault has an in-progress busy-block staging prefix (RECOVERY_NOT_CLEAN)world-source/server/economy-recovery.ts:105

      retainedPending (lines 98-104) is applied to every row of economy_pending_blocks regardless of config, and it requires ancestors.has(p.config_id) and halted_reason===INVALID_POSITION_WITHDRAWAL.

      A pending block that belongs to a different, healthy staking vault (the 'another legitimate vault' case the objective asks to exercise) therefore fails the predicate and the whole plan is rejected as RECOVERY_NOT_CLEAN, even though that vault's staged rows are in a different namespace and are already protected by the in-transaction snapshot guard.

      A busy block of up to 10,000 logs is folded 128 logs per sync invocation (economy-rpc.ts:172), so the recovery window for vault A depends on vault B's indexing cadence. With the stated single fixed production config this is not reachable in production; it only matters if the multi-config future design is adopted.

      Fix: scope the pending-block cleanliness check to configs in ancestors (plus to), and let the snapshot guard handle concurrent changes elsewhere.

      Same halted fixture as above for cfg A (halted INVALID_POSITION_WITHDRAWAL at block 102) and shadow B.

      Add other=cfg({stakingContract:'0x4444...'}); ingestEconomyEvents(db,other,{fromBlock:'100',toBlock:'101',events:[]}); then stageEconomyBlock(db,other,{number:'102',hash:H(102),parentHash:H(101),throughMs:T+DAY+1000,totalLogs:3,digest:'d'*64,offset:0,events:[two stake events at block 102]}) -> returns {complete:false,staged:2}.

      Now prepareEconomyRecovery(db,shadow,A,B,{nowMs:T+DAY+1001}).

      Expected: a plan for vault A (vault B's partial block is unrelated and immutable until its fold).

      Actual: throws RECOVERY_NOT_CLEAN (verified locally: 'H5: plan fails -> RECOVERY_NOT_CLEAN').

      Removing the other vault's pending row (by completing its fold) makes the same plan succeed.

  6. Audit judgeAgent #1863found 1 medium, 4 low, 1 info

    The review is complete. All six findings are in .imd-findings.json, each snippet verified against the tree, and the repository is unchanged apart from that file.

    What I did. I copied world-source to a scratch directory outside the repository, installed only viem and typescript there, confirmed the shipped Audit3 recovery suite passes 31/31 on this commit, and then wrote probe tests reproducing every specialist claim with a control case where the claim was about a regression.

    Findings kept (all reproduced, duplicates merged):

    • Medium, economy-recovery.ts:100. A retained first-batch staged prefix permanently blocks any later recovery of the same vault. In a second recovery the prefix's parent hash is compared against the retired ancestor's empty sentinel hash, so the plan fails with RECOVERY_NOT_CLEAN. The identical scenario without a prefix produces a plan with delta 1. Three specialists reported this; merged into one.
    • Low, economy-recovery.ts:25. The documented 5000-event cap is unreachable. The 512 KiB per-table bound on the events snapshot binds at about 501 events (500 passes at 523,493 bytes, 600 fails). Two specialists; merged.
    • Low, economy-recovery.ts:113. Another vault's completed recovery leaves retired day_progress rows without a binding, and the guard ignores lineage, so this vault's recovery fails RECOVERY_AMBIGUOUS_HISTORY.
    • Low, economy-recovery.ts:105. Any other config's pending staged block, transient or a permanently retained prefix, fails this vault's plan with RECOVERY_NOT_CLEAN. Control without the other block plans with delta 2. Two specialists; merged.
    • Low, economy-recovery.ts:112. One accepted empty ingestion by a stray same-vault config makes recovery permanently impossible, and the registry and chain_state rows cannot be deleted.
    • Info, EconomyPane.tsx:99. The "grants no additional service" heading renders above pending-fulfillment rows. Confirmed with the shipped pane harness.

    Dropped or not opened. I checked the recovery's order-paid statement for a missing fulfillment row and found the fulfillment is created by a database trigger, so that lead does not reproduce. The payment contract's exact payer/order/amount replay key and public getter match the stated design.

    Scope gaps. All findings are fail-closed availability or wording defects in the new remediation tooling. No fund-movement path was found. No Solidity finding, so no Foundry proofs were needed. Solidity was unchanged in this revision and only spot-checked; the Workers runtime, real wallet extension, and production D1 capacity remain outside this local evidence, as the packet itself states.

    • mediumRetained first-batch staged prefix permanently blocks every later recovery of the same vault (RECOVERY_NOT_CLEAN)world-source/server/economy-recovery.ts:100

    • lowDocumented 5000-event recovery cap is unreachable: the 512 KiB per-table snapshot bound refuses plans at about 500 finalized eventsworld-source/server/economy-recovery.ts:25

      Measured with the exact snapshot() query: N=200 -> OK (shadow economy_chain_events JSON 209,693 bytes); N=400 -> OK (418,893 bytes); N=500 -> OK (523,493 bytes, 795 bytes under the bound); N=600 -> throws RECOVERY_REQUIRES_LARGER_REVIEWED_PLAN (628,093 bytes > 524,288; only economy_chain_events is over the bound).

      Expected per RECOVERY_LIMITS/AUDIT_FINDINGS/RECONCILIATION.md: plans up to 5000 events within the other caps are accepted.

      Actual: any plan above about 501 events is refused.

    • lowAny retired ancestor config of ANOTHER vault makes this vault's recovery fail RECOVERY_AMBIGUOUS_HISTORY (day_progress guard ignores lineage)world-source/server/economy-recovery.ts:113

      Vault B: Bc=cfg({stakingContract:'0x44..44'}), Bn=cfg({stakingContract:'0x44..44',deploymentBlock:'99'}); ingest [stake(2,100,T)] 100..101 through T+DAY, settleEconomy at T+DAY, ingest [withdraw()] at 102 -> ECONOMY_HALTED; shadow Bs with [stake(1,99,T,2),stake(2,100,T)] 99..101 settled to completion; prepare/apply recovery Bc->Bn succeeds; ingest withdraw under Bn.

    • lowA pending staged block of ANY other config (other vault mid-staging, or another halted vault's retained prefix) fails this vault's recovery with RECOVERY_NOT_CLEANworld-source/server/economy-recovery.ts:105

      Vault A: Ac=cfg(), An=cfg({deploymentBlock:'99'}); ingest [stake(2,100,T)] 100..101 through T+DAY, settle at T+DAY, ingest [withdraw()] at 102 -> ECONOMY_HALTED; shadow As with [stake(1,99,T,2),stake(2,100,T)] 99..101 settled. other=cfg({stakingContract:'0x44..44'}); ingest(db,other,[],'100','101',T+DAY); stageEconomyBlock(db,other,{number:'102',hash:H(102),parentHash:H(101),throughMs:T+DAY+1000,totalLogs:3,digest:'d'*64,offset:0,events:[two stakes at block 102]}) -> {complete:false,staged:2}. prepareEconomyRecovery(db,As,Ac,An,{nowMs:T+DAY+1001}).

    • lowOne accepted EMPTY ingestion by a stray same-vault config permanently and irreversibly blocks the only historical-GOLD recovery pathworld-source/server/economy-recovery.ts:112

    • infoPayment reconciliation pane shows the blanket 'these payments grant no additional service' heading above pending-fulfillment rowsworld-source/src/world/EconomyPane.tsx:99
