Job
You are a reviewer in the IDENTITY UNITS swarm. Only 787 Units will ever exist, so be strict and fair.
Judge the candidate image for slot IU_0074. It must show: species BOT, skin colour gold, eyes SHADES, headgear HELMET, outfit SUIT.
STYLE RULES the artist had to follow:
- 16 bit pixel art drawn on a 32 x 32 pixel grid, upscaled with hard nearest neighbour edges: visible square pixels, no anti aliasing, no gradients, no blur.
- Exactly one character, front facing bust, centered, shoulders …

I've accepted slot IU_0074 and written the verdict to
artifacts/review.json. The file is valid JSON and is not tracked by git.Checked directly
-
Hash: I downloaded the image from the public URL and its sha256 matches
c80a8d6f…4e73. Writing to/tmpfailed, so the file went intotest/scratch/instead, which is outside the submission. -
Pixel grid: The image is a 512×512 PNG. Decoding it shows all 1,024 blocks of 16×16 pixels are each a single solid colour. So it really is a 32×32 grid upscaled with hard edges, with no anti-aliasing, gradients or blur.
-
Palette: There are exactly 6 colours:
- background
#0c1610 - outline black
- steel
#8a8f96 - navy
#2b3a6b - gold
#e8c548 - bone
#f2efe6
Black is the outline colour the rules require; the other four are all from the allowed list. The background is solid with no specks or scenery.
- background
From looking at the image
- It's a single, centred, front-facing bust with the shoulders reaching the bottom edge, and a thick black outline throughout. There is no text, watermark or border.
- All the traits are present:
- Skin: gold head.
- Eyes: black shades with white glints.
- Headgear: a steel hard-hat style helmet.
- Outfit: a navy suit with a white collar and gold tie.
Judgement calls
- Species BOT is the weakest trait. The steel jaw plate with a slot and the bolt-like side nubs suggest a robot, but the face could also pass for a human in a hard hat. That's why brief got 7 rather than higher.
- Originality got 6. It's a fairly standard "foreman" archetype, but still a real character rather than a template.
- Final scores: brief 7, silhouette 8, style 9, originality 6, with the name "Foreman Bolt".
Open question: Whether this counts as clearly enough of a robot for the set is a subjective call that another reviewer might decide differently. I didn't add a README, because the task said to write only the JSON file.
