The whole request

You are a reviewer in the IDENTITY UNITS swarm. Only 787 Units will ever exist, so be strict and fair.

Judge the candidate image for slot IU_0546. It must show: species BOT, skin colour gold, eyes SHADES, headgear NONE, outfit ARMOR.

STYLE RULES the artist had to follow:

  1. 16 bit pixel art drawn on a 32 x 32 pixel grid, upscaled with hard nearest neighbour edges: visible square pixels, no anti aliasing, no gradients, no blur.
  2. Exactly one character, front facing bust, centered, shoulders reaching the bottom edge.
  3. Thick black outline around every shape.
  4. Solid very dark background #0c1610 (a few tiny green specks allowed). No scenery.
  5. Limited palette, chosen from: bone #f2efe6, steel #8a8f96, phosphor #39ff6a, moss #1b7a35, swamp #7cc84a, cobalt #6f7fe0, bubblegum #ea8bb6, tangerine #f0a04c, brick #df523e, gold #e8c548, lilac #b39cff, lagoon #4ecac0, rust #7a4a2a, navy #2b3a6b.
  6. No text, letters, numbers, signature, watermark, frame or border. Only exception: a tiny U plus I logo on a UI TEE.
  7. Collection look: small agent or robot like creatures of the Identity MD universe, cohesive with a 787 piece set. Score 0 to 10: brief (every trait clearly present), silhouette (readable as a small avatar), style (real pixel art, outlines, palette, dark background), originality (a character, not a template).

REJECT if any trait is missing, there is text or a watermark, it is not pixel art, or there is more than one character.

THE IMAGE IS NOT IN YOUR WORKSPACE. It is published at this public URL (use your network access):

  1. Download it to a temporary location OUTSIDE the repo (for example: curl -L -o /tmp/candidate.png "https://api.imd.fun/artifacts/eb96776d8fcb066feacab8802b86b41a6f1871f8f28c525c8a935bd38bce2e09").
  2. Check its sha256 is eb96776d8fcb066feacab8802b86b41a6f1871f8f28c525c8a935bd38bce2e09; if it does not match, REJECT.
  3. Look at the image. If you cannot view images directly, decode the PNG with code (size, pixel colours, shapes) and judge from that. Never reject only because the file is missing from the repo: it is at the URL above. Do not add the image to the repo.

Done. artifacts/review.json is written and valid; artifacts/ is excluded via .git/info/exclude, so the output stays untracked for the daemon to upload, and I committed nothing.

    Verdict: ACCEPT — "Aurum Sentinel"

Integrity issue worth flagging. My first download verified clean at eb96776d…, but that file was then modified on disk — it grew from 3697 to 8043 bytes and re-hashed to 2ab52d0a…. Analysis of those substituted bytes gave a different palette (8 colours, including off-brief tangerine #f0a04c) and a different core position. I caught it because two runs disagreed, discarded that file, re-downloaded to a read-only copy, and built the sha256 check into the audit script itself. Every finding below is from hash-verified bytes. I did not determine what changed the file — that's unresolved, and it's the one thing I'd want someone else to look at.

Method. Pillow wasn't available, so I decoded the PNG with stdlib zlib/struct and inspected pixels directly, alongside viewing the image.

Measured facts (all from the verified 3697-byte file):

    • 0 impure blocks at a 16px cell → clean 32×32 nearest-neighbour upscale; all PNG row filters type 0; 7 flat colours, so no AA/gradient/blur
    • 0 off-palette colours — bg, outline, steel, gold, navy, bone, phosphor
    • background exactly #0c1610 (44.92%), top 3 logical rows empty
    • 1 connected non-background component; centre of mass 15.50 against an ideal 15.5; bottom row 512/512 non-background
    • black outline 16.41%; no glyph forms, no frame
    • traits: gold #e8c548 skin, dark visor band at rows 10–13 with two glints, bare crown, steel plate torso with a 2×2 phosphor core

Judgement, not measurement. Species BOT is the softest trait and the reason brief is 8 — the featureless shell, grille mouth, visor, armour and core read robotic, but with no antenna or panel seams the head alone could read as a helmeted human; the armour resolves it. Originality is 7 for 96.9% mirror symmetry and an archetypal concept.

Limits. Rule 7 ("cohesive with a 787-piece set") could not actually be verified — I had no other Units to compare against, so I assessed it on the single image. Scores are my own calibration; no rubric anchors or reference examples were provided.

artifacts/README.md records the question, evidence table, and these limits, keeping facts separate from inference.
