scheduleSignerRecovery has no guard against being called while a recovery is already pending. Each call overwrites recoveryReadyAt with a fresh timestamp plus recoveryDelay (line 218) and increments clausGeneration, and _validate (line 240) rejects every queue/execute while pendingSigner is non-zero. The recovery owner is an intentional, immutable, trusted role that AUDIT_RESPONSE.md retains, so this is not a permission bypass.
It is recorded as the concrete shape of that trust: one key can keep the whole network's upgrade path suspended and invalidate every outstanding Claus signature, and no other actor can lift it. Anyone may finalize a scheduled recovery once block.timestamp >= recoveryReadyAt. 6.infoRegistration never exercises the module against its configuration, so a project can be created in a permanently reverting statesrc/ClausApprovalExecutor.sol:134
target = address(new ClausReadonlyProject(r.projectId, r.implementation, configuration));
registerProject binds the configuration by hash and size only (line 128); neither it nor ClausReadonlyProject._apply calls the module to check that it accepts the configuration.
A module such as ClausBalanceLens rejects any configuration that is not exactly 64 bytes, so an owner-signed registration with a wrong-length or wrong-address configuration succeeds and the resulting target reverts on every evaluate() until a full Claus approval and delay cycle replaces the configuration. The same applies to execute.
The owner signs the registration, so this is self-inflicted and not a security defect; it is recorded because the executor is the only place the configuration is committed on-chain and a staticcall dry-run (module.evaluate(config, probeInput)) or a module-declared validateConfiguration view would catch it before the delay cycle.

receive() external payable { emit Deposit(msg.sender, msg.value); }The wallet defines only receive() and no fallback(), onERC721Received or onERC1155Received/onERC1155BatchReceived. Any ERC721 safeTransferFrom or _safeMint, or ERC1155 safeTransferFrom, to the wallet calls the receiver hook, which matches no function and reverts, so the token contract reverts the whole transfer. The wallet cannot take custody of NFTs through the safe-transfer path most marketplaces and minting contracts use, while plain transferFrom still works.
This matters because the companion ClausBalanceLens reports a wallet's NFT-collection balance, so a project wallet is a plausible NFT holder. No funds are at risk: a failed safe transfer is atomic. Fix if NFT custody is intended: implement IERC721Receiver and IERC1155Receiver returning the selectors (or inherit ERC721Holder/ERC1155Holder); otherwise document that NFTs must be sent with transferFrom.

I reviewed all four contracts and found one low-severity defect, confirmed with a test. There are no critical, high or medium findings. The finding is written to
.imd-findings.json. The existing suite still passes (29 tests); the only failure in the run was my scratch test, which fails as intended and has been removed. No files were changed.Finding
Low: payment nonces and quote hashes are shared across all sessions in the wallet (
src/ClausProjectWallet.sol:111, mappings at lines 62–63)The records of used nonces and paid quotes aren't keyed by session, so one session can block another:
- By accident: two session signers that both start counting nonces at 1 collide, and the second session's payment reverts.
- On purpose: a session signer front-runs session Y's pending payment with a 1-wei payment of its own that reuses Y's nonce and quote hash. Y's payment reverts with
InvalidPayment(), and that quote can never be paid by any session afterwards.
No funds are lost, because the interfering session only pays its own recipient within its own limits. Fix: key the nonce record by session and nonce, and tie each quote to one session.
Verified properties (traced through the code)
- Who can call what: every state-changing entry point is checked. Owner-only functions reject unregistered projects, because their owner is the zero address.
applyUpgradeonly accepts calls from the executor.ownerCallre-entering the wallet's own functions is blocked by the reentrancy guard or the owner check. - Replay: the signed-message format binds the chain and the contract address. Approvals also name the executor, target, source version and code hash. Every generation counter only increases, so a stale
readyAtcan never apply to an approval that has become valid again. - Expiry and delay: expiry is checked when an approval is queued and again when it runs. The ready time is the later of the queue time plus the minimum delay and
notBefore. A ready time at or after expiry is rejected. Changing the policy invalidates approvals already queued. - Recovery: scheduling, cancelling and finishing a signer recovery all bump the signer generation. While a recovery is pending, upgrades are paused and the retiring signer can't cancel approvals.
- Ownership transfer: while a transfer is pending, upgrades are paused. Accepting it clears the mandate and bumps the generation.
- Session revocation: revoking a session also kills any signed authorization for the next generation that hasn't been submitted yet.
Trust assumptions (by design, not defects)
- Upgrades need only the Claus signature. The project owner never signs an approval, and the mandate hash is public. The owner's only protection is to cancel or disable within the delay.
- Unchecked hashes: the evidence and dependency-snapshot hashes are only checked to be non-zero. Proxy modules or modules that read changing external state aren't detected on-chain; the README says these are outside the supported profile.
- Recovery owner: it can't be changed after deployment, and it can pause upgrades indefinitely by rescheduling recovery. Anyone can finish a recovery once the delay has passed.
- Delays only go up: a previous owner can leave the minimum delay at 365 days, and a new owner can't lower it.
- Wallet owner: the owner of the wallet has unlimited control through
ownerCall, and that owner can't be changed.
Not covered: Slither and other static analysis (not available here), a fork or deployment check, and in-depth ERC-1271 owner behaviour.

pay(src/ClausProjectWallet.sol:111). The replay maps for payment nonces and quote hashes are wallet-wide rather than per session. Any live session signer can submit a payment reusing another provider's quote hash or nonce. The attacker is paid to its own recipient within its own owner-approved limits, so the attack is free, and the victim's correctly signed payment for that quote reverts forever while the on-chain record shows the quote as paid under the wrong session. The proof test undertest/scratch/WalletSharedQuoteNamespace.t.solfails on the current code withInvalidPaymentand passes once both maps are keyed by session id.Info items, all verified locally and recorded as trust assumptions rather than bypasses:
- The recovery owner can re-schedule signer recovery before each deadline, which extends the network-wide upgrade pause without bound and invalidates every outstanding Claus signature.
- Registration and execution commit a module configuration by hash only, so an owner-signed registration with a configuration the module rejects produces a target that reverts on every read until a full approval cycle replaces it. Self-inflicted, flagged for a cheap dry-run.
- Recovery finalization is permissionless at the deadline, so a late cancellation can be front-run. Already disclosed in the audit response.
Verified properties, with no finding: EIP-712 type strings match every struct field by order and type. Approvals bind chain, executor, target, both code hashes, configuration hash, all three generations and the mandate, and are rejected during signer recovery or a pending owner transfer. The queue delay cannot be shortened by a back-dated
notBefore, an approval cannot be re-queued or re-executed after its nonce is burned, and the accepted delay can only grow. The project wallet's spent-versus-total cap holds on every path, session generations are strictly monotonic so revoked authorizations and payments cannot be replayed, and all value-moving paths are reentrancy guarded with effects before interactions. A module call that runs out of its 200k gas stipend bubbles up as a revert rather than returning data.Assumptions carried, not verified: the Claus signer and recovery owner are honest and distinct; signing keys stay plain EOAs or deliberately reviewed ERC-1271 contracts; modules admitted off-chain are not proxies or EIP-7702 delegated accounts; ERC20 assets paid through sessions behave nominally. Nothing was deployed, signed or published.

scheduleSignerRecovery has no guard against being called while a recovery is already pending. Each call overwrites recoveryReadyAt with a fresh timestamp plus recoveryDelay and increments clausGeneration, and _validate rejects every queue/execute while pendingSigner is non-zero.
The recovery owner is an intentional, immutable, trusted role (AUDIT_RESPONSE.md retains it), so this is not a permission bypass; it is recorded as the concrete shape of that trust: a single key can keep the whole network's upgrade path suspended and invalidate every outstanding Claus signature forever, and no other actor (project owners, Claus signer) can lift it. Not reported as a vulnerability.
Deploy ClausBalanceLens; owner signs Registration(implementation = lens, codeHash = lens.codehash, initCallHash = keccak256('bad'), ...) and registerProject(r, 'bad', sig) succeeds, creating a target.
Expected (if a dry-run existed): registration rejected.
Actual: target.evaluate(abi.encode(account)) reverts with ClausBalanceLens.InvalidConfiguration() on every call.
Verified with a local Foundry test.

recoveryDelay = 1 day; recoveryOwner schedules pendingSigner = P at T.
At T + 1 day the recoveryOwner submits cancelSignerRecovery(); any account submits finishSignerRecovery() in the same block ahead of it.
Expected by the owner: recovery cancelled.
Actual: clausSigner == P, pendingSigner cleared, and the subsequent cancelSignerRecovery() merely bumps clausGeneration.
No contract guard prevents the ordering.

- Medium,
src/ClausProjectWallet.sol:111. Payment nonces and quote hashes are keyed wallet-wide, not per session. Any second authorized session signer can front-run a pending payment with a 1 wei payment in their own session that reuses the victim's nonce or quote hash. The victim's payment then reverts forever withInvalidPayment, and the owner has no way to clear the flag. Honest providers that both start nonces at 1 collide the same way. The proof test fails on the current code and passes against a copy where both maps are keyed bysessionId. - Low,
src/ClausProjectWallet.sol:101. Revocation advances the session generation by exactly one. An owner-signed authorization for generation current+2 is unusable before the revoke and becomes valid right after it, reopening the session with a fresh budget. The precondition is owner pre-signing two generations ahead, so the severity is low. The proof test fails on the current code.
Verified properties, not findings
- No division exists anywhere in the four contracts. All additions on
uint64anduint128are checked, and the only narrowing cast isuint64(block.timestamp), which is safe for the foreseeable future. Spent-plus-amount is widened touint256before the cap check. - Executor time boundaries behave as documented: registration at exactly
expiresAtis rejected, a one-second execution window queues and executes only before expiry, a zero window is rejected at queue, and re-queuing after expiry neither refreshes nor executes. - All four EIP-712 type strings match their struct field order and types, and every struct is fully static, so
abi.encode(TYPEHASH, s)is a correct hashStruct. - SafeERC20 and SignatureChecker are from an OpenZeppelin v5.4+ snapshot and behave as the code assumes.
Assumptions and trust points, not defects
- Claus signer, recovery owner and project owner powers are intentional. The permissionless recovery finish, the recovery owner's ability to re-schedule indefinitely, and the signer's power to cancel nonces are documented trust assumptions.
- EIP-7702 delegated accounts pass the
code.length == 0module checks. The README places them outside the admission profile and relies on Claus to reject them. - A replacement session authorization does not supersede the active one until submitted, so a provider holding it can drain the old budget first. The safe owner flow is revoke, then sign a new generation.

The review is complete. No source, configuration or library file was changed; the findings are in
.imd-findings.jsonat the repository root, and the scratch tests live undertest/scratch/.Outcome. No critical, high or medium defect was found in the four pinned contracts. One low and two informational findings are reported, each with a concrete failing input and a scratch test that reproduces it.
Findings
- Low, wallet replay sets are wallet-wide (
src/ClausProjectWallet.sol:111). Nonces and quote hashes are keyed only by their value, not by session. Any owner-authorized session signer can front-run another provider's payment with the same nonce or quote hash and make it revert. The quote-hash variant is permanent for that quote. Proof test attached; both cases fail with InvalidPayment on current code. - Info, wallet cannot accept safe-transferred NFTs (
src/ClausProjectWallet.sol:77). No receiver hooks, so ERC721 safeMint/safeTransferFrom and ERC1155 safe transfers revert. Plain transferFrom works. - Info, approval lifetime is uncapped (
src/ClausApprovalExecutor.sol:247). An approval with a hundred-year expiry queues and executes fifty years later on an idle project. Every other bound in the system is capped. Reported as a hardening gap, not a timelock bypass.
Verified properties. Project IDs bind owner and salt. Registration nonces are owner-scoped and cancellable. Approvals bind chain, executor, target, from-version, pinned from-hash, live to-hash, configuration hash and all three generations, and the nonce is burned on execute or cancel. Queue rejects an empty window and takes the later of now plus delay or notBefore. Owner transfer and signer recovery pause upgrades immediately. Recovery cancel and finish both bump the generation, so older and pause-era signatures die. Delay can only rise. The retiring signer cannot burn nonces during recovery. Modules run by staticcall with a 200k gas cap and the pinned hash is rechecked on every read. The lens works end to end through the project with real ERC20 and NFT contracts. EIP-712 type strings match the struct layouts. Wallet sessions are asset, recipient, amount and time bounded, generation-invalidated, and reentrancy-guarded. All twenty-nine project tests pass.
Trust assumptions, not defects. The recovery owner is immutable and can pause all upgrades indefinitely by rescheduling. Recovery finalization is permissionless after the delay. The Claus signer can burn any project's nonces outside recovery. Evidence and dependency snapshot hashes are only checked to be nonzero on chain. Proxy and EIP-7702 modules are excluded by off-chain policy only. A compromised Claus key can push a module after the minimum delay unless the owner cancels within it. Signers must stay plain EOAs or deliberately reviewed ERC-1271 contracts.
Coverage limits. Review passes were run manually from the Pashov SOP, entry-point inventory and ethskills checklist. No Slither, Mythril or long fuzz campaign ran. Behaviour of real-world fee, rebasing or blacklisting tokens in wallet sessions is documented by the requester and was not exercised.

Outcome. Every specialist finding reproduced against the code. The ten specialist reports collapse to seven judged findings in
.imd-findings.json: one medium, one low, five info.Medium: shared replay namespace in the project wallet. Four specialists (flow, permissions, economics, math) reported the same root cause at
src/ClausProjectWallet.sol:111and I merged them into one finding. The nonce and quote-hash maps are keyed only by nonce and quote hash, not by session. Any owner-authorized session signer can burn another session's quote or nonce with a 1 wei payment to its own recipient, and two honest providers that both start at nonce 1 collide. A burned quote hash is blocked forever and the PaymentMade event then names the wrong session. All four attached proofs fail with InvalidPayment on this code. I attached one merged proof covering the quote burn, the nonce burn and the honest collision. It fails in all three cases now and passes against a copy of the wallet with both maps keyed by session id. I rated it medium rather than the split low/medium the specialists gave, because the trigger costs nothing, the quote block is permanent, and the collision needs no attacker.Low: revocation only bumps the generation by one at
src/ClausProjectWallet.sol:101. An owner authorization pre-signed for generation current+2 is rejected before revocation and accepted right after it, reopening the session with spent reset to zero. Reproduced with a scratch test that fails exactly as the math specialist described. Precondition is owner behaviour, so it stays low and carries no proof.Info, all reproduced with passing scratch tests:
- Approval expiry has no upper bound, so a century-long Claus signature queues and executes 50 years later on an idle project.
- The recovery owner can re-schedule recovery before each deadline and hold every upgrade path paused indefinitely. Documented trust assumption.
- Permissionless recovery finalization front-runs a late cancel. Already disclosed in AUDIT_RESPONSE.md.
- Registration never dry-runs the module, so a bad lens configuration creates a target that reverts on every evaluate.
- The wallet has no ERC721 or ERC1155 receiver hooks, so safe transfers and safe mints to it revert.
Coverage and limits. I ran the existing suite (29 tests pass) and read all four source contracts for authorization, replay, expiry, recovery, custody and denial of service. I found no additional defect beyond the specialists' reports. No static analyzer ran, only Foundry. Nothing in
