Carry over from job 4's delivery: nothing is missing; one change of order. In the Builder's Pair with select (type A), list IMD first and start on IMD, ETH second (SPEC 4 step 3 and owner's decision 14); the composed request and the summary follow the choice as before. Refresh SPEC.md from https://raw.githubusercontent.com/the-hook-store/hooks-store-spec/main/SPEC.md (now 1.16).

Everything else from job 4 stays as delivered. The Hooks Store, phase 1 job 5 of 6: the relay, the live free check, scene polish and final polish. Implement SPEC.md section 7.4 and the phase 2 polish of section 9 (reeds at the banks, a hat on the fisher, one or two birds over the canopy, all monochrome tiles).

Write relay/worker.js, a single-file Cloudflare Worker that forwards POST /check to https://api.imd.fun/requests/check and POST /import to https://api.imd.fun/requests/import, and GET /launches, /launches/:id, /jobs/:id and /intake/:chain/:tx to the same paths on api.imd.fun, adds Access-Control-Allow-Origin *, caches GET responses for 30 seconds, and rejects every other path and method; include a README with the one-command deploy and unit tests with a fetch mock.

In the site, read relayUrl from site-config.json (null by default): when set, enable the free-check button in the Builder and render the What the swarm understood panel from the response (facts with their states, plan step titles, blockers, suggestions) and block Launch while blockers exist; resolve own-code repositories through /import before composing; name launches in the pond ticker from /launches; show the real stage names Building, Audit panel and Deploying on the Hook page timeline from /jobs/:id.

Final copy pass against SPEC.md section 8; Lighthouse accessibility at least 95 on Store and Builder; Playwright regression at three widths for every route. Deliver source, dist/, relay/ and test results.

The second step is an adversarial review by a different seat, read-only, of the money path delivered in jobs 4 and 5: the price read, approve and request calls, body encoding, receipt parsing, request-id handling, the relay, and the chain reads; it reports concrete reproductions, and the owner carries any confirmed finding into the next job. No real launch happens before that review is read.

Implemented job 5: SPEC 1.16, IMD-first pairing, relay, free checks/imports, live ticker/timeline and pond polish. Source, rebuilt dist/, documentation and results are included.

Build/typecheck passed; 89 browser tests passed. Lighthouse accessibility: 100. Submission fits 8 MiB. WebKit was unavailable; five optional fork tests were skipped.

Relay remains undeployed and launches locked pending the separate review. Details: VALIDATION.md.

  3. Adversarial reviewAgent #588found 2 medium, 1 low

The review is complete. Three findings are recorded in .imd-findings.json, none critical or high, and no repository file was changed.

What I checked and found correct

    • Price read and guards. priceOf(launch.open@launch-1, IMD) on both chains returns 0.5 IMD today, matching the site's ceiling. Zero and over-ceiling prices refuse before any approval.
    • Approve and request. The approve step is simulated, sent for the exact live price, and re-verified from the receipt's Approval log. The request step re-reads the price, compares it to the approved amount, checks allowance, and calls request with a zero callback. Wallet, chain and body-size checks run before each signature.
    • Body encoding. The composed type A body for both pairings passed the live free check today with zero blockers and the full nine-step plan. The 16 KiB limit and lowercase owner apply.
    • Receipt parsing and request id. The Requested and Completed topics match the ABI hashes. The request id is taken only from a log at the Intake address whose payer, action, body bytes, asset and amount all match. A missing event leaves the step pending with a "do not pay again" message.
    • Relay. All nine unit tests pass. The live /intake/:chain/:tx and /launches shapes match the site's parsers, and /requests/import returns a pinned source that passes the site's validation.

    Findings, ranked

    1. Medium, timeline states. The live job API reports nodes as waiting and working, but the stage classifier only knows running, pending and similar invented names. The Playwright test feeds those invented names, so it passes against a shape the API never returns. On the real job for today's Ethereum request, every stage shows pending while an audit node is working.
    2. Medium, IMD pairing fee sentence. With IMD now the default pairing, the objective still says fees come from "the ETH (pair currency) side". The pool has no ETH side, and the plane's own fixed fact for this pairing says the fee is taken in IMD and sold for ETH. The check does not refuse it, so the user pays for a self-contradictory instruction. The wording comes from SPEC 5.1, so this needs an owner decision rather than a silent code change.
    3. Low, relay error text. The relay client parses JSON before checking status, so an HTML error page from Cloudflare surfaces a raw SyntaxError instead of the designed message. The launch gate still holds correctly.

Scope notes, non-blocking. Launch is only blocked while blockers exist. A user who never runs the free check can still pay, which matches the request as written. Without a relay configured, own-code repositories go into the body unresolved, also as specified.

    • mediumHook page timeline never shows a stage as active: live IMD node states are 'working' and 'waiting', which jobStages() does not recogniseweb/src/relay.ts:67

jobStages() classifies job nodes by state name, but the names it checks ('running', 'assigned', 'pending', ...) are not the ones api.imd.fun returns. The live GET /jobs/:id answer uses 'waiting' for a queued node and 'working' for the node in progress (terminal nodes are 'accepted', which is recognised). A 'working' node is neither done, failed nor running, so status() returns 'pending' for every stage while the swarm is actually building or auditing.

The Playwright test in web/tests/job5.spec.ts:128 only feeds the invented names 'running' and 'pending', so it passes against a shape the API never produces.

The result: with relayUrl set, the Hook page timeline shows Building and Audit panel as pending for the whole run and only flips to complete at the end, so the real stage names the job asked for are never shown in their active state.

Live on 2026-10-21: GET https://api.imd.fun/jobs/a6715145-76db-498f-9ca9-a11ed38d82a8 (the job admitted for Ethereum request 0x9221c612b733556d94e0bed3c337b11180c6ef738f7a503ca119a63bc21b9447, tx 0xa8f865165061fb43d5fff15c13152830a64718adcb8788c76c7d9233b9d5e7e7) returns nodes [{key:'adapt_contract_project',state:'waiting',role:'implement'},{key:'audit_imported_code',state:'working',role:'review'},{key:'audit_math',state:'waiting',role:'review'},...,{key:'write_foundry_tests',state:'waiting',role:'tests'}] and launch {status:null}.

Call jobStages(thatJson): actual [Building 'pending', Audit panel 'pending', Deploying 'pending']; expected Audit panel 'active' (a review node is working).

Minimal input: jobStages({nodes:[{key:'audit_math',role:'review',state:'working'}]}) returns Audit panel state 'pending' instead of 'active'.

    • mediumWith the new default IMD pairing the composed objective tells the builder fees come from 'the ETH (pair currency) side', but the pair currency is IMD and the pool has no ETHsrc/lib/compose.ts:171

Job 5 makes IMD the first and default pairing for type A, and body() sends pairWith:'imd', but the fee sentence of the objective is fixed text that names ETH as the pair currency. For an IMD-paired launch the body therefore contains an instruction that cannot be satisfied (there is no ETH side in a POND/IMD pool) and that contradicts the plane's own fixed fact for this pairing.

The live check does not refuse it (no blockers), so the user pays 0.5 IMD for a request whose fee rule is self-contradictory and whose interpretation is left to the builder. The same wording is in SPEC.md 5.1 (line 318), so resolving this needs an owner decision on the sentence for pairWith:'imd' (e.g. 'the pair currency (IMD) side'); the body shape itself is accepted and unchanged.

newDraft() with settings.chain=4663, settings.pool=50, settings.pair='imd' (the Builder default after job 5): compose(draft) contains the line 'Fees are always taken from the ETH (pair currency) side, never from POND; ...' while the body's pairWith is 'imd'.

Sent to POST https://api.imd.fun/requests/check on 2026-10-21 the answer has zero blockers and the fixed fact 'Hook fee: any fee the hook takes is taken from the IMD side of each swap and sold for ETH in the same transaction', i.e. the plane's model (fee from IMD, swapped to ETH) differs from the text the user pays for (fee from ETH, never from the token).

Expected: the sentence names the chosen pair currency; actual: it names ETH for both pairings.

    • lowrelayFetch surfaces a raw JSON SyntaxError when the relay or Cloudflare answers with a non-JSON bodyweb/src/relay.ts:25

response.json() runs before the status check, so a non-JSON answer (a Cloudflare HTML error page for the Worker, an HTML 5xx from an intermediate proxy, or an empty body) throws a SyntaxError whose message is shown verbatim by useSwarmCheck/useOwnCode ('Unexpected token < in JSON at position 0') instead of the designed 'IMD could not finish this request (status)' text.

In useSwarmCheck this sets error, so the Launch gate reads 'Retry the free check before continuing', which is correct; the defect is only the message.

Fix shape: read text first and fall back to the status message when parsing fails.

Mock the relay so GET /launches or POST /check returns status 503 with body 'Service unavailable' and Content-Type text/html (what Cloudflare serves when a Worker exceeds its limits). relayFetch rejects with SyntaxError 'Unexpected token '<', "Serv"... is not valid JSON'; the panel shows that string.

Expected: 'IMD could not finish this request (503).

      Try again.'

Recorded four reproducible findings in .imd-findings.json:

    • Medium bug: a confirmed cancelled approval remains pending and prevents retry.
    • Medium bug: reorged Intake events persist through refresh and reload, including an obsolete Live status.
    • Medium bug: full session storage loses a successful import when navigating to Launch.
    • Low bug: the pond ticker’s relative timestamp never ages.

Checks passed: 51 frontend/composer/chain unit tests, nine Worker tests, and 88 Chromium regressions, including every route at three widths. Six optional cases were skipped. Independent Lighthouse accessibility scores were 100 Store / 100 Builder. Fresh browser chain reads completed in 2.2 seconds. WebKit could not start because required system libraries were unavailable.

    • mediumbug: a confirmed cancelled approval leaves the launch flow permanently pendingweb/src/LaunchReview.tsx:98

Now: onReplaced assigns the confirmed cancellation hash and throws, but never marks it as a final failure. The catch saves it as pending. Check confirmation then rejects the successful self-transfer receipt for lacking an Approval event and preserves pending again. Approve, Launch and the payment-chain selector remain disabled.

Change to: Mark a confirmed cancelled approval as failed and allow a fresh approval; also let approval receipt recovery exit pending after a confirmed receipt proves the expected approval was not made. Preserve the pending lock for genuinely unknown receipts.

Why: The money path needs a usable failure/retry state. A transaction whose cancellation is confirmed is no longer pending, and checking its receipt must not trap the visitor forever.

      390px Chromium; no real transaction.

Use a valid type A draft (deploy chain 1, pool 50, standard token plus pause), payment chain 1 and the injected fixture account 0x6CBA4751742F6989fA224B2dC5d5d52fCef98a34.

In the served config fixture set inProgress=false.

      Restore the state produced by a cancelled approval in hooks-store:launch-tx:<keccak256(account + ":1:" + exactBodyHex)>: {approval:{hash:"0x1111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111",price:"500000000000000000",phase:"pending"}}.

Have eth_getTransactionReceipt return that hash with status=0x1, from=to=the fixture account and logs=[] (a confirmed wallet cancellation).

      Connect and press Check confirmation.

Actual alert: "This receipt does not contain the expected IMD approval.

      Check the transaction before continuing."

Measured Approving disabled=true, Launch disabled=true, Pay from disabled=true; the same saved record remains phase=pending.

      Rechecking repeats the state.

Expected a failed/cancelled approval with an enabled retry after its confirmed cancellation.

Reloading and reconnecting restores Approving and Check confirmation for the same cancelled hash again.

    • mediumbug: reorged Intake events survive every refresh and reloadweb/src/chain/store.ts:153

Now: The twelve-block overlap only adds events. A request or completion removed from the canonical chain stays in records, rows and localStorage, so an orphaned request remains listed and an orphaned completion can keep a hook marked Live.

Change to: Reconcile each successfully reread overlap against canonical logs, removing orphaned requests and invalidating orphaned completions/results before hydrating and persisting the rows.

Why: The requested chain reads and money-path status must reflect actual Intake events; rereading a reorg window must be able to retract its former events.

      390px (also independent of viewport).

Use the existing Requested fixture with a valid store body, requestId 0x2f97a6b7d10b8ac97cd4ab88bed2dd0ea932f1f69db40debb661eaeb793b48cc, block 100, intakeFromBlock 90 and head 100.

Start LaunchStore and observe one ReorgHook card.

Replace the canonical history with head 101 and no Requested/Completed logs in blocks 90–101, then call store.retry().

Both log calls succeed and cache.head advances to 101, but launches.length remains 1 and cache.records still holds that id.

Constructing a new LaunchStore from the saved storage again returns ReorgHook.

Expected zero rows after the successful canonical reread; actual one permanent orphan.

      No transaction is sent.

A second case keeps the request at block 100, completes it at 101 and hydrates a valid hook-address result to Live, then returns head 102 with that Completed log removed.

The reread and a fresh cache-backed LaunchStore both still report Live instead of Requested.

    • mediumbug: a successful own-code import is lost when session storage is fullweb/src/useSwarmCheck.ts:54

Now: A successful /import is kept in Builder component state and silently fails to persist when sessionStorage is full. Continue to launch remains enabled. The Launch route remounts useOwnCode, loses the pinned source and sends the visitor back to resolve it again, creating an endless loop.

Change to: Retain the validated import record in module memory, keyed by relay/repo/commit, as useSwarmCheck already does for recentCheck, and hydrate that record on route changes when session persistence fails.

Why: Own-code repositories must resolve through /import before composing, and a successful resolution must survive the Builder-to-Launch navigation. A storage failure should not invalidate an already resolved source without warning.

      390px Chromium.

Configure relayUrl=https://relay.hooks.test in the served config fixture; create a type A Describe draft with chain=1, pool=50, prompt="Observe swaps without fees.", repo=https://github.com/identity-md-launches/launch-2335-launch-daemon-daemon-ethereum and commit=317dd1aeee7369413497aee884ae875b3512dae8.

Fill native sessionStorage to its quota with a separate review-pad key while leaving localStorage available.

      Return {ok:true,source:{repoUrl:"https://github.com/identity-md-launches/launch-2335-launch-daemon-daemon-ethereum.git",baseCommit:"317dd1aeee7369413497aee884ae875b3512dae8"}} from /import.

Click Resolve repository: the pinned source is shown and Continue to launch is enabled.

Click Continue: the Launch page instead displays "Resolve your repository in the Builder before launching" and its exact request contains only "Resolve your repository in the Builder to compose the request from its pinned source."

Returning to Builder and resolving again repeats the failure.

Expected the same pinned request to appear on Launch; no wallet or payment is needed to reproduce.

    • lowbug: the pond ticker never ages its relative timestampweb/src/Landing.tsx:45

Now: The displayed relative time is recalculated only when the launch id or updatedAt changes. Repeated successful /launches polls leave "just now" frozen indefinitely for the latest launch.

Change to: Refresh the relative-time text on every successful poll or a timer while keeping cast deduplication keyed separately to the launch id.

Why: The pond ticker names launches with their relative time; that visible age should continue to describe the returned timestamp as time passes.

      390px Chromium with reduced motion.

Supply a matching, live PondGuard store launch from /launches with fixed updatedAt=2026-10-21T20:00:00Z and load Store at that browser time.

The ticker reads "PondGuard was launched on Ethereum · just now".

Advance the browser clock in seven 20,001ms steps and return the identical valid launch on every poll.

Measured eight /launches responses and browser time 2026-10-21T20:02:20.743Z; ticker still says "just now".

      Expected "2 min ago".
