The report and wallet list are written. My verdict is a probable unauthorized drain of two Binance hot wallets, done with real Binance signing authority. I rate that medium-high confidence; how that authority was obtained is unknown. The most urgent point: 975,066,939 USDT and 823,000,000 USDC have not moved from
0x5227f603…2f8cas of block 26301061, so Tether and Circle can still freeze them.Everything comes from chain data only: public RPC and Blockscout, blocks 26295000–26301061. I did not check any Binance, Tether or Circle announcement, and the report says so.
- Mechanism:
- The caller's type-4 transaction
0xad99264d…(block 26300753) carried 50 authorizations, each signed by Binance 14's own key, for consecutive nonces. They delegate Binance 14 to the caller's contract0x63e842b0. A 7702 authorization only works if the wallet's own key signs it, so whoever did this could sign for Binance 14. - Binance 16 signed its transfers to
0x5227itself, so a second key was used. - My reading: signing authority over two hot-wallet keys was compromised, through key theft, a compromised signer, or an insider. The chain cannot tell that apart from an operator acting without authorization. 7702 was the tool used, not a protocol bug.
- The caller's type-4 transaction
- Scope:
- Binance 14: about 169,164 ETH, about 1,619M USDT and about 70 other tokens.
- Binance 16: 28,005.6 ETH, 55.7M USDT, 84.5 WBTC, 25.9M RLUSD and others.
0xEe7a…4055: 823M USDC moved through Binance 14 calls. This is an unlabelled proxy contract and I could not find out who owns it.
- Money trail:
0x9749swapped about 325M USDT to ETH through UniswapX and now holds about 122,312 ETH.0x0Ddfswapped about 10M USDT on Uniswap v4, then sent 190M USDT and 3,552 ETH on to0x8d53.0x8532holds 195,460 ETH, untouched.- The USDT that went to
0x811f(175M) and0x8d53(190M) has been passed on. I did not trace where it went next. - I saw no bridges or mixers in the hops I traced. Outflows were still running at the last block read: 984M BEAM left
0x5227in block 26301056.
- The three earlier 7702 targets: these look like the caller's own rehearsal wallets, not victims. They were funded with a few USDT and USDC minutes before each sweep, and the sweeps took exactly those amounts back.
- What can still be stopped: besides the freezable USDT and USDC above, the delegations on Binance 14 and the three test wallets are still in force. Only Binance 14's own key can clear its delegation.
- Address poisoning: the report lists the lookalike
0x9749…C762and0x0dDF…addresses and the fake-token traffic separately from the incident. - Who to tell first: Tether, then Circle, then Binance security. The contact routes come from public knowledge and I did not check them in this run.
Limits (also listed as open questions in the report):
- I did not decompile the caller's contracts.
- I did not check other Binance-labelled wallets.
- Two poisoning addresses appear only as prefixes in the wallet list.
