Audit imported codeAgent #877found 1 high, 5 medium, 4 low, 1 info
The review is complete and
.imd-findings.jsonholds 11 findings, three with Foundry proofs that fail on the current code.Scope. I read both source files (
src/LastSeenRegistry.sol,src/IIntake.sol), both test files, the deploy script, README and LAUNCH.md, the two protected floor tests and the oracle-consumer reference. Nothing in scope was unreachable. The EIP-712 digest reproduces the protocol's conformance vector exactly, so signature verification is sound, and the four question texts pass the free wording check with no blockers (only a transient RPC outage on the plane's side). What I could not verify from this machine is whether the paid door accepts theguardskey the link and audit bodies carry.Findings, most severe first:
- High, launch blocker. The runtime is 35,689 bytes, over the 24,576-byte EIP-170 limit that
Contracts.protected.t.solasserts, so the launch parks before deploying. The project's own tests pass only because forge tests skip that limit. Turning on the optimizer alone fails with stack-too-deep; optimizer plus via-IR brings it to 17,779 bytes with all 21 tests passing. The adapter must change foundry.toml, which this review may not touch. Proof attached. - Medium. A verdict retry after one day leaves the old request pending, so two answers can settle one case and a stale answer can flip it to Rejected while the addresses stay flagged. Proof attached.
- Medium. The hirer can
payTipthe whole reward to themselves while a hunter's lead is waiting, so a confirmed lead pays a quarter of nothing. Proof attached. - Medium, trust assumption. The owner can point
setOracleat their own contract and key, then drain the pool, confirm their own leads and flag anything. This contradicts the README's claim that the owner cannot move funds. - Medium. The lead question only asks whether any transfer happened, so true-but-irrelevant hops (routers, refunds, the victim itself) each take a quarter of the bounty and a prepaid check. No Foundry proof is possible since the defect is in the question text.
- Medium, design-level. Anyone can open free cases and spend the donated pool at 0.5 IMD per call.
- Low. Audits have no failure or retry path. A burned
_linkUsedkey is never reset. The callback ignoresquestionHashandchainId.fundBountyaccepts money after a hunt ended. - Info. The
guardsbody key is unlisted in the oracle reference and should be confirmed with a real request before launch.

openCase(W,S,8453,100,200) -> requestVerdict(id) returns R1. warp 1 day + 1 s. requestVerdict(id) returns R2.
Intake delivers a valid signed 'false' for R1: expected UnknownRequest (R1 superseded); actual: accepted, case becomes Rejected.
Intake then delivers a valid 'true' for R2: accepted, case becomes Confirmed and both addresses are flagged.
Reverse the order and the case ends Rejected with the addresses still flagged.
proof · a Foundry test the fix has to passmediumpayTip lets the hirer empty the reward while hunters' leads are waiting, so a confirmed lead can be paid a quarter of nothingsrc/LastSeenRegistry.sol:220
The README and the NatSpec promise that a confirmed lead pays the hunter a quarter of the reward left, and that guessing costs the guesser, not the victim. But
payTiphas no bound other thanamount <= c.bounty, no relation to in-flight leads and no delay, andtomay be the hirer.A hirer who sees LeadSubmitted (or simply before any lead) calls payTip for the full bounty to their own address; when the swarm confirms the lead,
_settleLeadcomputespaid = c.bounty / 4 = 0, the hunter gets only the stake back, and the hirer's prepaid check was spent on a lead they have already made worthless. Hunters therefore cannot rely on any posted bounty, which defeats the hunt's incentive.Fix: refuse payTip (or cap it to three quarters of the remaining bounty per in-flight lead) while
hunts[caseId].inFlight != 0, or reservebounty/4per waiting lead at submission time.Case confirmed.
Hirer H: postBounty(id, 8 IMD, 2 checks, 0, 30).
Hunter: submitLead(id, S, L) (stakes 0.5).
H: payTip(id, 't', H, 8 IMD) -> bounty 0, H receives 8 IMD back.
Intake delivers signed 'true' for the lead.
Expected: hunter receives stake + 2 IMD.
Actual: hunter receives stake + 0; LeadVerdict(paid = 0).

Actual: getAudit(id).finding == Asked indefinitely; nothing in the contract can change it.

- The case question can flag innocent addresses (
src/LastSeenQuestions.sol:65). The question asks whether any funds left the wallet in a transaction the suspect sent, and the opener picks both addresses. An attacker can use a contract wallet that forwards incoming ETH, then withdraw to it from an exchange. The swarm truthfully answers yes and the exchange's hot wallet is flagged as a thief. ERC-4337 bundlers and CoW solvers can be flagged the same way, and no function ever clearsflagged. This one can't be shown in Foundry because it depends on how the swarm reads the question; the reproduction is a described scenario. - The same page lead is paid more than once (
LastSeenRegistry.sol:275). Duplicate page leads are refused only when the URL bytes match exactly, sohttps://x.com/thief/status/1#againis accepted after the plain URL was already paid. submitLink refuses a page only if the exact byte string (caseId, url) is in _linkUsed. A confirmed lead's key is never released, but https://host/p, https://host/p#a, https://host/p?x=1 and https://HOST/p all hash differently and lead the panel to the same evidence. Every confirmed page lead pays bounty/4 (_settleLead, line 432) and returns the stake, so one piece of evidence pays 25%, then 18.75%, 14%... of the hirer's reward.
Each resubmission also spends one of the hirer's prepaid checks.
Area: Execution Trace (parameter divergence: the dedupe key is not the evidence identity).
proof · a Foundry test the fix has to passmediumAnyone can make themselves the hirer of any case, locking the victim out of their own hunt and taking third-party fundBounty contributions through payTip/closeBountysrc/LastSeenRegistry.sol:234
postBounty makes whoever calls it first the hirer of a case. It does not check that the caller is the case's opener or its victim wallet. The cost is one check (0.5 IMD, returned later through closeBounty) and reward 0.
After that the victim's postBounty reverts NotHirer. fundBounty (line 248) accepts contributions from anyone to that hunt, and the hirer alone controls them: payTip(caseId, tip, anyAddress, amount) pays any amount out whenever no lead is in flight, and closeBounty returns c.bounty, contributions included, to the hirer. So the squatter, who can be the suspect, collects what the community adds for hunters.
Area: First Principles (identity: 'the hirer is the victim', per the contract's own docs 'A victim hires hunters').
proof · a Foundry test the fix has to passsetPanel during an in-flight request makes its correctly signed answer revert BadAttestation; the callback is never retried and the paid check is lostsrc/LastSeenRegistry.sol:445
_accept compares the signed panelSize with the current storage panelSize, not with the panel the request's body asked for (the body was built with the panel at ask time). Pending stores no panel. If the owner raises the panel between ask and answer, every answer in flight reverts.
The Intake does not retry a reverted callback, so a case stays Asked until someone pays again after a day (from the victims' pool). A lead stays Asked until the hunter reclaims the stake after two days, and the hirer's prepaid check is spent. An audit's fee is lost.
Area: Execution Trace (mid-operation config mutation).
proof · a Foundry test the fix has to passOne wei of the asset sent directly to the registry stops the owner from ever changing the assetsrc/LastSeenRegistry.sol:569
setOracle allows a new asset only when the raw token balance is zero. Anyone can make it non-zero with a plain transfer, and no function can move a direct transfer out (no sweep). The asset is then fixed for the contract's life, which defeats the oracle integration rule that the asset and price are owner-settable so a moved price or token needs no redeploy.
A hunt whose hirer never calls closeBounty has the same effect.
Area: Execution Trace (sentinel/raw balance used as a state flag).
stranger calls imd.transfer(registry, 1).
The owner calls setOracle(intake, bytes32("oracle.request@oracle-2"), newToken, 5e17, attester).
Expected: the connection moves to newToken (the contract owes nothing).
Actual: reverts BadInput, and it stays that way forever (proof output 'FAIL: BadInput()').
Fix: compare tracked liabilities (pool + sum of bounties, checks and stakes) instead of balanceOf, or add an owner sweep of the untracked surplus.
proof · a Foundry test the fix has to passopenCase accepts block windows the oracle cannot answer (numbers above 2^53-1, blocks not yet mined), and each ask is paid from the victims' poolsrc/LastSeenRegistry.sol:195
fromBlock/toBlock are uint64 and checked only for fromBlock < toBlock. The protocol's OracleQuestion refuses any number above 2^53-1 (NumberTooLarge: JSON cannot carry it exactly to the plane), and an absolute window must already be at least five blocks deep when the plane reads the ask. LastSeenQuestions writes such numbers as they are, so the plane refuses the body (status 1) or hashes a different document.
Either way no answer the registry can accept will come, and requestVerdict charges the pool 0.5 IMD on every ask, and again on every retry each day.
Area: Periphery (helper trusts unvalidated inputs).
When the case verdict comes back Rejected, the hirer's reward and checks stay locked until openUntil (up to 365 days) although no lead can be submittedsrc/LastSeenRegistry.sol:303
Once a case is Rejected, _newLead and fundBounty refuse it, so the hunt cannot do anything more. closeBounty still waits for openUntil, and payTip only pays a third party. A hirer who posted for 365 days has the reward and prepaid checks frozen for up to a year with no use.
Area: Execution Trace (wrong-state execution across transactions).
openCase(...), then postBounty(id, 100e18, 10, 0, 365) with the case still Open, then requestVerdict(id).
The oracle answers false and the status becomes Rejected. submitLead/submitLink now revert WrongStatus.
The hirer calls closeBounty(id) the next day.
Expected: 105e18 returned, since the hunt cannot continue.
Actual: WrongStatus until block.timestamp > openUntil (365 days).
Fix: in closeBounty, also allow (c.status == Status.Rejected && h.inFlight == 0).
transferOwnership is single-step and accepts address(0), so a typo permanently removes the oracle connection's only adminsrc/LastSeenRegistry.sol:559
The constructor refuses owner_ == 0, but transferOwnership has no zero check and no acceptance step. Ownership given to address(0) or to a mistyped address cannot be recovered, and with it go setOracle, setPanel, setSupportedChain and setAuditFee. The oracle reference requires these to stay settable so a new oracle version needs no redeploy.
Owner calls transferOwnership(address(0)): owner() == 0.
Every later setOracle(...) reverts NotOwner, so moving to Intake v3 or a new attester key needs a redeploy and the hunts, pool and flags are lost.
Expected: revert BadInput on zero, or a two-step pendingOwner/acceptOwnership.
Actual: succeeds.

Audit mathAgent #358found 1 medium, 2 low
The review is complete. The findings file is written and the working tree is otherwise untouched (git reports nothing modified; the findings file and test/scratch are ignored).
Outcome: three substantiated defects in the Math Precision, Boundary and Numerical Gap area, each with a Foundry proof that fails on the current code and passes under a minimal fix. The core arithmetic holds: the IMD balance always equals pool plus bounties plus prepaid checks plus stakes across every flow, no cast or multiplication can overflow with the uint16 bounds, and the callback's heaviest path uses about 126k of its 200k gas stipend.
Findings written to .imd-findings.json
- Medium, closeBounty line 303. A hunt posted on a case that is still Open or Asked, then rejected by the swarm, can never judge a lead or be topped up, yet closeBounty still waits for openUntil. The hirer's prepaid checks sit locked for up to 365 days. Repro: open a case, request a verdict, post a bounty with 20 checks for 365 days, deliver a "no", then closeBounty reverts WrongStatus for a year.
- Low, _accept line 445. Agreed is bounded only by the attestation's own quorum, never by the contract's quorum of 4. An attestation with panel 5, quorum 1, agreed 1, or quorum 0 and agreed 0, is accepted and flags the suspect. Needs the trusted signer, so demoted to low.
- Low, setOracle line 569. The asset-change guard reads the raw token balance. One wei of IMD sent directly to the contract, which has no sweep, blocks the owner from ever switching the asset, which the oracle reference requires to be possible without a redeploy.
Coverage: all 18 entry points have a row (3 findings, 15 holds), plus two invariant rows for token conservation and the gas stipend. Leads I checked and dropped: bounty/4 dust rounding (dust only), a max-uint64 toBlock draining the pool via a refused question (same as the accepted "anyone asks" design), and owner price or panel changes mid-flight (owner-only, no unprivileged amplifier).

_accept never compares the signed quorum or agreement with the contract's own quorum: a 1-of-5 answer is acceptedsrc/LastSeenRegistry.sol:445
The oracle reference requires 'agreed >= quorum and that the panel and quorum are at least what the contract asked for'. The code checks a.agreed >= a.quorum (both chosen by whoever produced the attestation) and a.panelSize >= panelSize, but not a.quorum >= quorum nor a.agreed >= quorum. An attester-signed attestation with panelSize 5, quorum 1, agreed 1 passes and flags a suspect.
The contract always asks for quorum 4, so this needs the oracle to sign an answer to a different body (a misrouted answer for the unpinned link/audit kinds, or a future oracle version that honours a caller-chosen quorum) - hence low.
Fix: add
|| a.quorum < quorum(ora.agreed < quorum) to the condition, comparing against the quorum recorded for the request.openCase(W,S,8453,100,200); requestVerdict(0) -> r.

The owner is the only account that can follow an oracle version change (setOracle), raise the panel or add a chain. transferOwnership writes any address, including zero or a typo, with no acceptance step.
After owner = 0 every onlyOwner call reverts NotOwner; when IdentityMD moves the Intake, the action id or the attester (the reference says these must be settable precisely because they change), the registry can never follow and every future request is paid for and never answered.
Fix: reject address(0) and use a two-step pendingOwner/acceptOwnership.

- Cases: every bad
openCaseinput is refused (also fuzzed). A verdict can't be asked twice within a day; it can be asked again from one second after the day is up. A settled case can't be asked again. When the pool is short the caller pays, and a caller with no funds is refused. - Oracle answers:
- Refused: unknown request ids, expired attestations (the last valid second is accepted), non-bool or malformed answers, and panels smaller than configured.
- Each signed field is changed after signing, one at a time, to show the signature then fails.
- Bad signatures of 64, 66 or 0 bytes, or with v = 0/1, are refused.
- After the owner changes the attester or the intake, answers signed by the old key or delivered by the old intake are refused.
- The heaviest answer (a confirmed lead that pays a hunter) fits in the 200,000 gas the Intake gives it.
- Bounties: the 6/7/365/366-day limits; only the hirer can top up; fund, tip and close each refused at their boundaries; closing waits for leads still waiting on an answer; a late answer to an abandoned lead pays nothing; rounding on tiny rewards. Fuzzed: each confirmed lead pays exactly a quarter of what's left.
- Links, audits and owner settings: URL length and character limits (printable URLs fuzzed); audit fee and re-audit behaviour; every owner setting refused for non-owners; the asset can't change while the contract holds tokens; a price change doesn't affect stakes already put down.
test/LastSeenInvariant.t.sol(invariants over random call sequences) A handler drives all 14 user functions from four wallets, with the oracle answering yes, no, or not at all, and with forged answers mixed in (128 runs × 60 calls, set in the file). After every call it checks that:- the contract's IMD balance equals the pool plus all rewards, prepaid checks and stakes;
- the pool equals donations and audit fees minus the verdicts it paid for;
- rewards left equal rewards put in minus rewards paid out;
- every request paid the intake the price, exactly once;
- each hunt's waiting-lead count is correct;
- settled cases never change, and the flagged list is exactly the confirmed suspects;
- no forged answer is ever accepted and no hunt closes early.
I checked that the runs actually reach confirmed lead payouts and reward movements, not just early exits.
Defects reported (3 with a test that fails on the current code)
- Medium, with failing test: anyone, including the suspect, can post a tiny bounty first and become a case's permanent hirer. That locks the victim out, and the stranger can then pay any added reward to themselves.
- Medium, with failing test: the "once per case" check on page links can be dodged by respelling the URL (
?s=20,#1). The same evidence pays out repeatedly, and copycats get paid too. - Medium: a hop lead pays for any transfer in the case window, so the suspect can claim most of the reward through hops it made itself. ADAPTATION.md already lists this as known; I added the concrete abuse. It can't be tested offline because a truthful mock oracle can't tell these hops from real ones.

postBounty makes the first caller the case's hirer forever (
h.hirer != address(0) && h.hirer != msg.sender-> NotHirer), and nothing ties the hirer to the case opener or the victim. The suspect, or any griefer, can post a 0-reward hunt with one check (0.5 IMD, fully refunded by closeBounty after 7 days) the moment a case is opened. From then on the victim cannot post a reward or set their own tipKey: private tips are encrypted to the stranger's key.Any reward the victim adds through fundBounty can be paid out by the stranger to themselves with payTip, or taken back at closeBounty. The victim's only way around it is a duplicate case, which costs another verdict and can be blocked the same way.
opener 0x0C opens case 0 (victim 0xC652, suspect 0xEF94).
The suspect calls postBounty(0, 0, 1, 'thief key', 7).
The opener then calls postBounty(0, 10e18, 4, 'victim key', 30).
Expected: the opener (the person who opened the case) can hire.

https://x.com/a,https://x.com/a?s=20,https://x.com/a#1andhttps://x.com/a/are different keys for the same page, and the swarm confirms each one. Every confirmation pays a quarter of the remaining reward. One finder who submits k spellings takes 1-(3/4)^k of the reward.Anyone who reads a confirmed URL from LinkSubmitted can submit a variant and get paid for evidence someone else found. Each extra payout also spends one of the hirer's prepaid checks.
Case confirmed, postBounty(id, 8e18, 2, 0, 30).
The finder submits https://x.com/thief/status/1, the swarm says yes, and the finder gets 2 IMD.
A copycat submits https://x.com/thief/status/1?s=20 and the swarm says yes (same page).
Expected: the second submission is refused or pays nothing, since the evidence was already paid.
Actual: the copycat is paid 1.5 IMD (balance 101.5e18 instead of 100e18).
A possible fix: only one page lead per case can be confirmed, or the hirer approves page payouts.
proof · a Foundry test the fix has to passmediumA hop lead pays for any transfer in the case window, so the suspect can collect the victim's rewardsrc/LastSeenRegistry.sol:432
Known and left as is in ADAPTATION.md item 11, restated here with the concrete abuse. A hop lead is confirmed by 'did FROM send anything to TO within [fromBlock,toBlock]'. The suspect knows every transfer it made in the window (dust and gas top-ups included), or can make some if toBlock is still ahead: openCase never checks that the window is closed, and cannot see another chain's height.
A hop to the victim's own wallet also counts. The suspect, using fresh wallets, submits those hops. Its stake comes back on every yes, and each yes pays it 25% of what is left.
In the offline mock every answer is what the panel would truthfully say, so no Foundry test can tell this apart from a real lead.
Case confirmed, reward 8 IMD, 4 checks.
The suspect sent 1 wei to A, B, C and D inside the window.
From fresh wallets it submits the hops suspect->A, suspect->B, suspect->C and suspect->D, and the swarm truthfully says yes to each.
Expected: the reward goes to people who traced the stolen funds.
Actual: the suspect takes 8*(1-(3/4)^4) = 5.47 IMD and gets all its stakes back.

An attestation signed with panel 5, quorum 1, agreed 1, i.e. one seat out of five saying yes, is accepted as a verdict, flags the suspect, pays a lead or records an audit finding. The oracle-consumer reference requires checking that the panel and quorum are at least what the contract asked for.The pinned questionHash does not cover the panel (it is outside the hashed members), so it does not close this gap. Exploiting it needs the plane to pair such an attestation with a pending id, which makes this defence in depth, but it is a one-line check.

a.quorum >= quorum(ora.agreed >= quorum).proof · a Foundry test the fix has to passThe hirer can take third-party fundBounty contributions at any timesrc/LastSeenRegistry.sol:288
fundBounty says anyone can add to the reward. The added IMD joins c.bounty, which the hirer alone can send anywhere with payTip, including to themselves, whenever no lead is waiting, or take back at closeBounty. The fix that refuses fundBounty after the hunt ends (ADAPTATION item 8, 'so a late donation cannot be taken by the hirer') does not cover a contribution made during the hunt.
Contributors are trusting the hirer completely, and the code and README do not say so.
Hirer H calls postBounty(id, 0, 1, 0, 30).
Donor D calls fundBounty(id, 10e18).
H calls payTip(id, 0, H, 10e18).
Expected: a donor's contribution is reserved for hunters.
Actual: H receives D's 10 IMD in the same block.
An unanswered lead refunds the hunter in full and charges the hirer, so a hunter can drain prepaid checks at no costsrc/LastSeenRegistry.sol:312
reclaimStake returns the whole stake after 2 days with no answer, while the hirer's check is spent. Whether an answer comes is partly in the hunter's hands for page leads: a URL that cannot be opened or that splits the panel (status 2) gets no callback. A hunter can therefore spend every prepaid check for only gas.
While such leads are in flight they also block payTip and closeBounty, for up to 2 days after the last one.
Hunt with 4 checks.
A hunter submits 4 page leads to pages the panel cannot read, the oracle never calls back, and after 2 days the hunter calls reclaimStake 4 times.
Expected: at least part of the stake pays for the spent check.
Actual: the hunter ends with an unchanged balance and hunts(id).checks drops by 2 IMD.
transferOwnership is single-step and accepts the zero addresssrc/LastSeenRegistry.sol:559
A mistyped or zero address permanently removes the only account that can rotate the attester, intake, asset, price, panel or supported chains. The oracle reference expects these to stay owner-settable for a new oracle version, so a lost owner means a redeploy and stranded pool, rewards and checks. There is no renounceOwnership, so the zero address can only be reached by mistake.
owner calls transferOwnership(address(0)).
Expected: revert, or a pending owner who must accept.
Actual: owner becomes 0x0 and every setter reverts NotOwner for everyone.
The asset can effectively never be changed: one wei sent directly blocks setOracle's asset switchsrc/LastSeenRegistry.sol:569
setOracle refuses a new asset while asset.balanceOf(this) != 0. Anyone can send 1 wei of IMD to the contract with a plain transfer, and live stakes, rewards and the pool keep the balance non-zero anyway. The 'asset owner-settable' property the oracle reference asks for therefore does not hold in practice.
Someone calls IMD.transfer(registry, 1) and the owner then calls setOracle(..., newAsset, ...).
Expected: possible once the registry owes nothing.
Actual: reverts BadInput forever, because the stray wei cannot be withdrawn.

Audit economicsAgent #1514found 5 medium, 7 low, 1 info
The review is complete. The findings file is written and every cited snippet was verified against the tree.
Deliverable:
.imd-findings.jsonholds 13 findings (5 medium, 7 low, 1 info) and 20 coverage rows, one for each of the 18 listed entry points plus two invariants I traced. The scratch tests undertest/scratch/Econ.t.solreproduce the contract-level behaviour of every finding and all pass on the current code, confirming the claimed flows. No file outside those two paths was changed.Medium findings, in order:
- Unanswered leads are free for the submitter but spend the hirer's prepaid check. A hunter who submits unopenable
https://127.0.0.1/…pages gets the full stake back after two days, while each check went to the Intake and tips and closing are blocked meanwhile. This depends on the oracle not answering such pages, which I state as the assumption. - Oracle settings are judged at settlement, not ask time. Raising the panel or rotating the attester or Intake makes every in-flight answer revert, and the fees already paid for them are lost.
- The donated pool is drainable by anyone. A stranger with no IMD opens garbage cases with a future window and sends the whole pool to the Intake. The author lists this as a design choice; I included the concrete economics.
- A hop back into the victim's own wallet is accepted and paid a quarter of the reward. Sweepers routinely gas-fund the compromised wallet inside the window, so this lead is true in most real cases.
- Any address can be flagged permanently through a bait wallet contract or by naming a relayer, and there is no unflag path. This is outside the economics area but severe for a do-not-send list.
Low findings cover hirer-seat squatting for 0.5 IMD, permissionless
reclaimStakeletting a competitor take a slow hop, audit findings being re-rollable to the favourable answer, prepaid checks locked for up to a year on a Rejected case, third-party bounty contributions withdrawable by the hirer, the stored price diverging from the Intake's, and a 1-wei transfer blocking the asset change.Coverage and verification: The conservation invariant (balance equals pool plus bounties plus checks plus in-flight stakes) holds across every writer. Replay, wrong-sender, wrong-question and double-claim guards hold. The lead-yes callback path uses about 132k of the 200k gas stipend with a plain ERC20. I confirmed on the live chain that chain id 4663 serves the configured IMD token (symbol IMD, 18 decimals) and that the Intake address has code, but I could not obtain the token's verified source, so transfer hooks or fees on the real IMD remain unverified. No finding reached high or critical, so no proof test files were attached.

Anyone can take the hirer seat of someone else's case for 0.5 IMD and lock the victim out of posting a bounty for up to 365 dayssrc/LastSeenRegistry.sol:234
postBounty binds the first caller as the only hirer of a case (line 234) with no relation to the case's opener or wallet, and the seat lasts until openUntil (up to 365 days) and never clears afterwards (closeBounty leaves h.hirer set).
A griefer calls postBounty(caseId, 0, 1, 0, 365) for 0.5 IMD (recoverable after a year via closeBounty) and the real victim gets NotHirer for a year; their only recourse is a duplicate case, which then needs another verdict (0.5 IMD) before the public list reflects it.
Fix: let the case opener (or the wallet) pre-empt the seat, or let anyone post only when the opener has not within some grace period.
case 0 Confirmed, opened by victim.
Griefer: postBounty(0, 0, 1, 0, 365) succeeds (hirer = griefer).

reclaimStake is permissionless: a competitor reclaims a slow lead after two days, releases the hop and resubmits it under their own address; the late true answer then pays nobodysrc/LastSeenRegistry.sol:314
Any address may call reclaimStake on any lead (no hunter check). It releases _claimed[case][to] (line 317) so the identical hop can be resubmitted by the caller. If the original answer then arrives, _settleLead returns at line 422 (status NoAnswer) and the first hunter's correct lead is never paid; the competitor's copy collects bounty/4.
Precondition: the oracle takes more than two days on the first lead, which is abnormal but exactly the window the function exists for.

A public audit finding can be re-rolled: a later NoPowerFound overwrites CanTakeFunds for the same targetsrc/LastSeenRegistry.sol:415
auditOf keeps only the latest finding (line 415). A project whose contract was found CanTakeFunds can pay 1 IMD per re-ask (requestAudit has no per-target limit) and stop as soon as one 5-agent panel answers NoPowerFound; LLM panels have real variance on 'can a privileged account move users' funds'. The public read surface wallets rely on then shows the favourable answer.
Fix: never downgrade CanTakeFunds without an explicit higher-panel re-audit, or expose counts of each finding rather than the latest.
requestAudit(8453, 0x70CE) -> r1; answer true -> auditOf == CanTakeFunds. requestAudit(8453, 0x70CE) -> r2; answer false -> auditOf == NoPowerFound. Expected: a confirmed power to take funds is not erased by a cheaper re-roll; actual: last answer wins.
A hunt on a case that is later Rejected locks the hirer's prepaid checks until openUntil although no lead can ever use themsrc/LastSeenRegistry.sol:303
postBounty is allowed while the case is Open or Asked (line 233). If the verdict comes back Rejected, _newLead refuses every lead (line 326) so the prepaid checks can never be spent, yet closeBounty still waits for openUntil (line 303), up to 365 days. The bounty itself is recoverable at once via payTip to self; the checks are not.
Fix: allow closeBounty immediately when c.status == Rejected (and inFlight == 0).
openCase -> id 0; requestVerdict(0); postBounty(0, 4e18, 4, 0, 365) (checks 2e18). Verdict delivered false -> Rejected. submitLead -> WrongStatus (correct). closeBounty(0) -> WrongStatus for 365 days; payTip(0, t, self, 4e18) works, hunts[0].checks stays 2e18 locked.
Third-party fundBounty contributions are immediately withdrawable by the hirer through payTipsrc/LastSeenRegistry.sol:293
fundBounty lets anyone 'add to the reward of a case' (line 247-257), but the reward is a single balance the hirer may pay to any address with payTip as long as nothing is in flight (lines 290-294). A donor who tops up a stranger's hunt is therefore funding the hirer, not hunters; ADAPTATION.md 8 only closed the post-expiry path.
Design tension rather than a bug in the hirer's own funds; reported so donors are not misled and because a griefer-hirer (see the seat-squat finding) can collect donations meant for a victim.
Fix: track third-party contributions separately and let payTip/closeBounty draw only on the hirer's own reward, or refund contributors.
case 0 Confirmed; hirer postBounty(0, 0, 1, 0, 30).
Donor: fundBounty(0, 5e18).
Hirer: payTip(0, t, hirer, 5e18) succeeds; bounty == 0, donor's 5 IMD is in the hirer's wallet.
The contract pays its own stored price, not Intake.priceOf: a price change at the Intake either bricks every ask or overpays until the owner reactssrc/LastSeenRegistry.sol:520
The reference says to read the price with Intake.priceOf(action, asset) and that IdentityMD can change it. _ask approves and sends the stored price (lines 520-523). If the Intake raises the price, request reverts (insufficient amount) for every verdict, lead, link and audit until the owner calls setOracle; hunts with leads in flight are unaffected but no new lead can be judged. If the Intake lowers it, every ask overpays the difference (not refunded per the reference).
Owner-fixable, so low.
Fix: read priceOf at ask time (one STATICCALL) or expose a permissionless sync that copies it.
Intake price moves from 0.5 to 0.6 IMD.
Any user: requestVerdict / submitLead / requestAudit -> revert inside intake.request.
Until setOracle(..., 0.6e18, ...) nothing in the contract can ask a question.
setOracle's asset change can be blocked forever by sending 1 wei of IMD straight to the contractsrc/LastSeenRegistry.sol:569
The guard uses the raw token balance rather than the contract's own accounting (pool + bounties + checks + stakes). Any unaccounted transfer (1 wei of IMD sent directly) makes the balance non-zero while the accounted total can be zero, so the owner can never switch the asset even when nothing is owed. Also, unaccounted tokens are unrecoverable (no sweep).
Low: the asset is IMD on Robinhood Chain and switching it is an unusual event.
All accounted balances zero.
Attacker: IMD.transfer(registry, 1).
Owner: setOracle(intake, action, newAsset, price, attester) -> revert BadInput, permanently.
The attestation's signed quorum is not compared with the contract's configured quorumsrc/LastSeenRegistry.sol:445
_accept requires a.agreed >= a.quorum and a.panelSize >= panelSize but never a.quorum >= quorum. The reference asks consumers to require 'that the panel and quorum are at least what the contract asked for'. Today the oracle signs the quorum the body asked for, so this is only a missing belt-and-braces check; it matters if the oracle ever honours a lower quorum than requested (e.g. a body edited in transit) since 2 of 5 agreeing would then settle a case.
Attestation signed by the attester with panelSize 5, quorum 2, agreed 2, correct questionHash -> accepted (test harness can sign one directly). Expected: refused because the contract asked for quorum 4.

launch.jsonlists the six constructor arguments in the brief's order with the live Intake, IMD, and attester addresses. All four specialist proofs fail on this code for the stated reason, and I wrote 15 more repro tests of my own intest/scratch/Review.t.sol, all of which show the claimed behavior.Findings kept, after merging duplicates across the five reports:
- Medium, with proof: anyone becomes the hirer of any case first and locks the opener out; raw-URL dedupe lets one confirmed page be paid repeatedly under
#or?variants; a settings change (setPanel or setOracle) while requests are in flight makes every signed answer revert and the fees are lost; a hunt on a case later Rejected keeps the prepaid checks locked for up to 365 days. - Medium, no proof: flags are permanent with no reversal and anyone can list any pair on the pool's money, where the baked question truthfully flags relayers, bundlers, and solvers; a hop lead to the victim's own wallet or back to the suspect is accepted and paid.
- Low: signed quorum never compared with the contract's quorum (0-of-5 accepted); openCase accepts windows above 2^53-1 that the oracle refuses; pool drained by a stranger (acknowledged design, kept on record); unanswered leads refund the hunter fully while the check is spent; permissionless reclaimStake lets a competitor take over a slow lead; auditOf last-answer-wins enables answer shopping; hirer withdraws fundBounty donations at once via payTip; one wei bricks the asset switch; single-step transferOwnership accepts zero.
- Info: reclaimAudit resets auditOf while a second audit is pending; stored price instead of
priceOf; the owner's custody reach through setOracle as a documented trust assumption, re-anchored to a real line since the specialist's citation was not in the tree.
Dropped or downgraded. The permissions specialist's "high" on permanent flags was recalibrated to medium because no funds in the contract are lost, and the general "any true transfer in the window pays" claim was folded into the hop-to-wallet finding as the acknowledged design limit. Slither's reentrancy and aderyn's state-change-after-call leads did not hold: the external calls are to the owner-set Intake and a standard token, with pending state written correctly before the signature check.

The suspect can do this the moment a case is opened. Reported by audit_flow, audit_economics, write_foundry_tests and audit_permissions; merged.
Minimal fix preserving the design: when h.hirer == address(0), require msg.sender == c.opener || msg.sender == c.wallet (or let the opener pre-empt the seat).

Cost to the attacker: gas only; loss: the whole pool that donors and audit fees fill.
ADAPTATION.md 12 records 'anyone asks' as the authors' design choice; it is kept here at low so the economics are on the record (reported by audit_economics and audit_permissions; merged), not to force a redesign. reclaimStake is permissionless: a competitor reclaims a slow lead after two days, resubmits the same hop under their own address, and the late true answer pays nobodysrc/LastSeenRegistry.sol:317
Any address may call reclaimStake on any lead. It releases _claimed[case][to], so the identical hop can be resubmitted by the caller. If the original answer then arrives, _settleLead returns at line 422 (status NoAnswer) and the first hunter's correct lead is never paid; the competitor's copy collects bounty/4.
Precondition: the oracle takes more than two days on the first lead, which is exactly the window the function exists for. Reported by audit_economics.

auditOf keeps only the latest answer: a CanTakeFunds finding is overwritten by a later paid NoPowerFound for the same targetsrc/LastSeenRegistry.sol:415
A case verdict is sticky, an audit finding is not: requestAudit is open to anyone for any target at any time and the callback writes auditOf[chain][target] = latest finding unconditionally.
A 4-of-5 panel reading source is not deterministic across panels, so the operator of a contract found CanTakeFunds pays 1 IMD per attempt and stops as soon as one panel says NoPowerFound; the public read surface wallets consult then shows the favourable answer (the reverse shopping against a safe contract works the same way). Reported by audit_economics and audit_permissions; merged; low because it depends on panel variance.
Fix: never downgrade CanTakeFunds without an explicit re-audit, or record every finding rather than the last.

Third-party fundBounty contributions are immediately withdrawable by the hirer through payTip, bypassing closeBounty's end-date guardsrc/LastSeenRegistry.sol:292
fundBounty invites anyone to 'add to the reward', but the reward is one balance the hirer alone may pay to any address, including themselves, with payTip whenever nothing is in flight; closeBounty's openUntil guard on the same c.bounty therefore protects nothing. ADAPTATION.md 8 only closed the post-expiry path ('so a late donation cannot be taken by the hirer'); an on-time donation is taken the same way one block later.
Hunters who see a reward open for 365 days can find it at 0 without the hunt closing. Combined with finding 1 the hirer may be a squatter. Reported by audit_flow, audit_economics, write_foundry_tests and audit_permissions; merged.
Fix: track contributions separately and let payTip/closeBounty draw only on the hirer's own reward, or document that donations are at the hirer's disposal.

Expected: a stranger's donation is reserved for hunters.
One wei of IMD sent directly to the contract permanently blocks setOracle from changing the assetsrc/LastSeenRegistry.sol:569
The guard requires the raw token balance to be zero. The contract never tracks what it actually owes (pool + bounties + checks + stakes) and has no function that moves untracked tokens out, so any address can transfer 1 wei of IMD straight to the registry and the condition is true for ever. The oracle-consumer reference requires the asset to be owner-settable so a moved asset needs no redeploy; after the dust transfer a redeploy is the only way.
Intake, action, price and attester stay changeable with the same asset. Reported by all four areas; merged.
Fix: keep a
heldcounter and compare it (or balanceOf minus it) to zero.Fresh registry, nothing owed.
Stranger: IMD.transfer(registry, 1).
Owner: setOracle(intake, action, NEW_IMD, price, attester) with NEW_IMD != IMD.
Expected: the change goes through.
Actual: revert BadInput, on every later attempt (test/scratch/Review.t.sol test_strayWeiBlocksAssetSwitch passes on the current code).
transferOwnership is single-step and accepts address(0): one wrong call permanently removes the only account that can follow an oracle changesrc/LastSeenRegistry.sol:561
The constructor refuses owner_ == 0, but transferOwnership has no zero check and no acceptance step. Ownership given to address(0) or a mistyped address cannot be recovered, and with it go setOracle, setPanel, setSupportedChain and setAuditFee, which the oracle reference says must stay settable for a new Intake version, action id or attester key. There is no renounceOwnership, so zero is reachable only by mistake.
Reported by audit_flow, write_foundry_tests and audit_permissions; merged.
Fix: revert BadInput on zero and use pendingOwner/acceptOwnership.
Owner: transferOwnership(address(0)).
Actual: owner() == 0; setAuditFee(1) and setOracle(...) revert NotOwner for everyone, no recovery (test/scratch/Review.t.sol test_ownershipToZero passes on the current code).

auditOf is per target, but reclaimAudit clears it from Asked to None when any one of that target's audits expires, even if a second audit of the same target is still pending and will set it again when answered. Reported by write_foundry_tests.
Fix: count pending audits per target, or leave Asked when another pending entry names the target.
requestAudit(8453, T) at t0 -> r1; requestAudit(8453, T) at t0 + 1 day.
At t0 + 2 days + 1 s: reclaimAudit(r1).
Expected: auditOf(8453, T) stays Asked.
Actual: None until the second answer arrives (test/scratch/Review.t.sol test_reclaimAuditResetsWhileAnotherPending passes on the current code).
The contract pays its stored price rather than reading Intake.priceOf: a price move at the Intake bricks every ask or overpays until the owner reactssrc/LastSeenRegistry.sol:520
The oracle-consumer reference says to read the price with Intake.priceOf(action, asset). _ask approves and sends the stored price. If the Intake raises it, request reverts for every verdict, lead, link and audit until the owner calls setOracle; if it lowers it, every ask overpays the difference, which is not refunded. Owner-fixable and the reference also lists the price as an owner setting, so info.
Reported by audit_economics.
Fix: read priceOf at ask time (IIntake would gain one view) or expose a permissionless sync.
Intake price moves from 0.5 to 0.6 IMD.
Any user: requestVerdict / submitLead / requestAudit -> revert inside intake.request until setOracle(..., 0.6e18, ...).
Not runnable against the mock (which takes any amount); stated from the Intake's documented behaviour.
Trust assumption: the owner can route every reward, stake and prepaid check to themselves through setOracle (price 0, own intake, own signer)src/LastSeenRegistry.sol:574
Documented power, recorded as the access-control guides ask, not a defect (ADAPTATION.md 10 and the contract header acknowledge it). setOracle(ownerContract, action, asset, 0, ownerKey) makes the owner's contract the only accepted msg.sender for onOracleResult and the owner's key the accepted signer, and with price 0 a lead costs no stake and needs no check (h.checks < 0 is never true), so the owner's hunter can submit unlimited leads that the owner's intake answers 'yes', taking bounty/4 of every hunt per lead, and can flag any address.
'No function that withdraws directly' is literally true; custody rests on the owner key. Keep it on a multisig; a timelock on setOracle/setPanel would let hirers closeBounty before a change lands. Reported by audit_permissions (its cited line was not in the tree as written; re-anchored here).
Owner: setOracle(OwnerIntake, action, asset, 0, ownerKey).
For a hunt with bounty B: owner-hunter submitLead(case, S, X_i) for fresh X_i (stake 0, no check consumed); OwnerIntake calls onOracleResult with a self-signed true -> owner receives B/4, then 3B/16, ...

The existing launch.json already satisfies the revision. This round attached no findings, and every check I ran confirms the accepted manifest, so I left it unchanged rather than rewrite verified work.
What the manifest contains
- One contract, LastSeenRegistry, with six constructor arguments in declaration order:
$owner, then the static Intake, action, asset, price and attester values the brief gives. - Only the three schema keys. Notes are 563 characters and describe the internal LastSeenQuestions helper the constructor creates.
What I verified
- The schema check passed: kind, contract name length, string arguments, no extra keys.
- Full build and the four test suites passed with the verifier's fuzz seed. 48 tests passed, 0 failed.
- Runtime size is 24,372 bytes, under the 24,576 floor. Initcode is 37,078 bytes, under the probe's 49,152 limit.
- A scratch rehearsal in test/scratch deployed the registry with the manifest's exact arguments on an empty chain at chain id 4663. It confirmed each stored argument, the supported chain, and the protected opcode scan with no forbidden opcode reachable.
- The constructor makes no external calls, only a CREATE of its helper, so it cannot revert on an empty chain.
Git status is clean apart from the scratch directory. No file other than launch.json is part of the deliverable, and launch.json is unchanged from the accepted tree.

uint64max, are refused. - An answer is judged by the attester and intake recorded when its request was paid for, so rotating either no longer strands requests already in flight. New requests use the new settings.
- Only the hunter or the hirer can reclaim a lead's stake.
- A rejected case's hunt can close before its end date, but not while a lead is still waiting for the swarm.
- Lowering the panel after a request was asked doesn't lower what that request's answer must show.
- The highest end block a case accepts is now 2^53 − 1; one block above that, and
-
Invariant handler, with four new random actions:
- the case's opener or the victim's wallet taking over the hirer's seat;
- a stranger trying to take the seat, which must always revert;
- the owner changing the panel or the attester while requests are in flight;
- forged answers that must be refused: the other attester's key, a smaller panel, or a quorum below the one asked.
The existing invariants still hold under all of them: the contract holds exactly what it owes, the pool and rewards balance, every request is paid once, settled cases stay settled, and no forged answer or early close is accepted. A logged run showed the new actions doing real work (5 seat takeovers, 12 rotations with requests in flight), not just reverting.
Findings are in
.imd-findings.json:- High: taking over the seat hands over the previous hirer's money (
src/LastSeenRegistry.sol:237). Once someone holds the seat, the opener can take it with no deposit and immediately send the whole reward to themselves withpayTip. When the hunt ends,closeBountyalso gives them the previous hirer's prepaid checks. Anyone can open a case, so a stranger who funds a hunt on someone else's case can lose all of it in one block. The victim's wallet can do the same to the opener's deposit. In the proof, the opener ends 102 IMD up (the stranger's 100 IMD reward plus 2 IMD of checks) and the stranger loses all 102. The proof test is in the report: it fails on the current code and passes under any of the fixes suggested there. - Low: the page-dedupe key cuts too much and too little (
src/LastSeenQuestions.sol:214). It treatsindex.php?topic=1and?topic=2as the same page, so a second, genuine lead on a query-routed site is refused. It also misses the same page written with:443,www.or a doubled slash, so a page can still be confirmed and paid twice.
Testing was offline with mock contracts in place of the Intake and IMD. No test ran against the live Robinhood Chain contracts.

Audit judgeAgent #1876found 1 high, 1 low, 1 info
The findings file is written and its snippets match the tree. Final recap:
Outcome. Of my six blocking findings from the last round, all six are fixed and their proofs pass on the revised code. One fix introduced a new high-severity defect, which the independent tester also reported and I reproduced. Two advisory items remain as low and info. The file
.imd-findings.jsonholds three findings and 28 coverage rows.Settled from the previous round
- Seat squat, page dedupe, settings at ask time, rejected-hunt lock: all four proofs now pass. Hop to wallet or suspect is refused, and the owner has a delist path with narrowed verdict definitions.
- Quorum lower bound, block-number bound, reclaim access, sticky CanTakeFunds, zero-owner guard: fixed and verified in source and tests.
- The disputed items (pool pays anyone, unanswered-lead stake, stray wei, transient audit None, stored price, hirer disposal of donations) are documented design choices with reasons that hold. I dropped them.
New findings this round
- High, seat takeover drains the earlier hirer. The new takeover rule accepts reward 0 and checks 0, then payTip and closeBounty hand the previous hirer's reward and checks to the seat taker. The compromised wallet outranks everyone, and its key is the thief's by the case's premise, so the thief takes the victim's whole bounty. Proof attached under
test/scratch/Proof_SeatTakeover.t.sol. Both tests fail on the current code. - Low, pageKey limits. The key cuts at the first query mark, so two different query-routed pages collide and the second is refused, while a port or www variant of a paid page still gets a new key.
- Info, owner trust assumption via setOracle, recorded unchanged as documented.
Checks run. The full project suite passes with 108 tests, including the tester's edge and invariant suites. The registry runtime is 24,372 bytes, 204 under the EIP-170 limit. No repository file was changed. Only the findings file and scratch tests were written.

Trust assumption (unchanged, documented): the owner can route every reward, stake and prepaid check to themselves through setOracle (own intake, own signer, price 0)src/LastSeenRegistry.sol:626
Recorded as the access-control guides ask, not as a defect, and unchanged from my earlier dffc2b15 which the author answered as a documented trust assumption (contract header, README, ADAPTATION.md item 10). setOracle(ownerContract, action, asset, 0, ownerKey) makes the owner's contract the only accepted msg.sender for new requests and the owner's key the accepted signer; with price 0 a lead costs no stake and consumes no check, so the owner's hunter can submit unlimited leads that the owner's intake answers 'yes', taking bounty/4 of every hunt per lead, and can flag or delist any address.
Since the review round Pending records the settings at ask time, so requests already paid for are not affected by the change. Keep the owner key on a multisig; a timelock on setOracle/setPanel would let hirers closeBounty before a change lands. No action is required for admission.
Owner: setOracle(OwnerIntake, action, asset, 0, ownerKey).
For a hunt with bounty B: owner-hunter submitLead(case, S, X_i) for fresh X_i (stake 0, h.checks < 0 never true); OwnerIntake calls onOracleResult with a self-signed true -> owner receives B/4, then 3B/16, ...
Expected: by design the owner is trusted; this is the scope of that trust.
Adapt contract projectAgent #13685 files changed
I fixed the high-severity seat-takeover finding, partly fixed the low page-key finding, and disputed the info-level owner trust note. The reviewer's held proof now passes, and
forge buildandforge testpass with the project's own config (53 tests, including the proofs intest/scratch/).High: taking over the hirer's seat (fixed). I reproduced it first: both tests in
Proof_4fcf58d27d87failed on the starting code with the reported numbers. A new hirer could take the seat without putting anything in, then tip or close out the earlier hirer's reward and checks. The wallet also outranked everyone, even though the case assumes the thief holds its key. InpostBounty(src/LastSeenRegistry.sol):- The opener or the case's wallet can take the seat only from a stranger, never from each other. So a thief holding the wallet's key can no longer push out a victim who opened the case from a fresh wallet.
- A seat can't change hands while a lead is waiting for the swarm. That lead is still paid from the reward it was submitted against.
- The outgoing hirer gets back the reward and checks left, exactly as
closeBountywould pay them. That payout now lives in one internal_closethat both functions use. - The new hirer must prepay at least one check, and the hunt's end date starts again from their post.
Tests: I changed
test_openerAndWalletTakeTheSeatFromAStrangerto match (the stranger is now paid back, and the wallet can't take the seat from the opener). I addedtest_walletTakesTheSeatFromAStrangerButNotTheOpenerFromItandtest_seatTakeoverCannotTakeTheEarlierHirersDeposit. The registry runtime grew by 30 bytes to 24,402, still under the 24,576-byte EIP-170 limit.Low: page keys (partly fixed).
pageKeyinsrc/LastSeenQuestions.solnow also drops a leadingwww., the default:443port and repeated slashes. Sohttps://www.x.com:443//pcan't be paid again as a new page; the test asserts this. I kept dropping the query string on purpose. The reviewer's narrower version would let any hunter add?x=1to a page and be paid a second time from the hirer's reward and checks. The cost of keeping it is that two forum threads told apart only by the query string (?topic=1,?topic=2) count as one page per case, so the second is refused. That limit is documented onpageKeyand in the README.Info: the owner can route funds through
setOracle(disputed, no change). The oracle reference requires these settings to be owner-settable, and the brief says not to change the logic. It stays a documented trust assumption.ADAPTATION.mdhas new items 21–23 for this round, the README's bounty and page-lead text is updated, and.imd-responses.jsonanswers all three findings.One older audit proof still fails here, exactly as it did on the starting code:

The manifest is already correct and nothing in this round's brief requires a change, so I left launch.json as it is.
What I verified
- launch.json has exactly the keys kind, contracts and notes. The kind is evm_contracts, one contract is named, and the notes are well under the 4,000 character limit.
- The six constructor arguments match the ABI of LastSeenRegistry in src/LastSeenRegistry.sol in declaration order: owner as $owner, then the Intake address, the action bytes32, the asset address, the price, and the attester address, all equal to the values in the brief and in LAUNCH.md.
- Ownership comes from the explicit owner_ argument, never msg.sender, so the factory never owns the contract.
- The constructor creates its LastSeenQuestions helper internally, which is why only one contract is listed. That helper is not an application contract in the brief.

I updated my tests for the latest contract revision, which changed how a hunt's hirer seat changes hands.
forge buildandforge test(with the verifier's fuzz seed) pass: 120 tests across 6 suites, none failing or skipped. I also found two defects I couldn't test around, and reported them in.imd-findings.jsoninstead.Changes to the tests
-
Random-sequence tests (
test/LastSeenInvariant.t.sol): the step that has the case's opener or victim wallet take over the seat followed the old rules, where taking over paid nothing to the earlier hirer and needed no prepaid check. The contract now refunds the earlier hirer, requires the new one to prepay at least one check, and refuses a takeover while a lead is waiting. The step now follows the new rules. After every takeover it checks three things:- the previous hirer gets back exactly what was left;
- the new hirer pays exactly their own deposit;
- the hunt starts fresh: new end date, new tip key, only the new deposit.
It also checks that the refused cases revert with the right error. The refunds count towards the existing check that rewards are conserved. I confirmed takeovers actually happen during these runs.
-
Edge tests (
test/LastSeenEdges.t.sol): 10 new tests.- A takeover restarts the end date from the new post instead of keeping the old one.
- An expired hunt that nobody closed can still be taken over.
- Taking over a hunt the earlier hirer already closed pays them nothing more.
- Donations and the stakes of wrong leads go back to the outgoing hirer.
- The outgoing hirer can no longer pay tips, close the hunt or reclaim stakes.
- A failed takeover (no check, bad length, no allowance) moves no funds.
- Nobody can take over once the case is rejected.
- A randomised test checks that a takeover keeps the totals exact.
- Two tests check where the URL clean-up for page leads stops, including a randomised one.
Reported defects
- Medium: whoever hires first on a case can keep the seat forever. They post a bounty, then submit a lead of their own that never gets an answer. A takeover is refused while any lead is waiting, and only that lead's submitter or the current hirer (both of them the squatter here) can clear it. It costs the squatter 1 IMD, and the opener and the victim's wallet can never take the seat. The attached proof fails on the current code with
WrongStatus. - Low: the same web page can still be paid twice under different spellings of its URL. Browsers open
https:///x.com/p,https://x.com./p,https://x.com/./pandhttps://x.com/a/../pas the same page, but the contract treats each as new. A confirmed duplicate pays a quarter of the remaining reward again. A proof is attached.
The tests don't treat either behaviour as correct. Both proofs are self-contained test files that fail on the current code and should pass once the contract is fixed.

Browsers open https:///x.com/p, https://x.com./p, https://x.com/./p and https://x.com/a/../p as the page https://x.com/p, but each one gets its own key. submitLink accepts each one as a new page lead. A confirmed duplicate pays a quarter of the reward left, plus the stake, out of the hirer's reward and prepaid checks.
This follows the review's item 22, which the second round fixed only for www., :443 and repeated slashes in the path. Other variants (percent-encoding, userinfo, a port written as 0443) cannot all be caught by normalising the URL, so the case's reward still rests on the panel noticing duplicates.

judge findings unresolved after 2 revisions: no revision budget left for adapt_contract_project (2 revisions, 2 from the judge) — A stranger who hired first keeps the seat for good by leaving one unanswered lead of their own in flight: nobody but the squatter can clear it, so the opener's and the wallet's takeover reverts foreve
The review is complete and written to
.imd-findings.json, with three findings and a coverage row for all 19 entry points.Settlement of my earlier findings
- High 4fcf58d2 (seat takeover takes the earlier hirer's deposit): fixed. My proof now passes on both tests. The takeover refunds the outgoing hirer through the new internal close path before the seat changes, the wallet no longer outranks the opener, and a new hirer must prepay a check.
- Low 3f3f5f0d (page key): fixed in the directions I named. The port, www. and repeated-slash bypasses are closed. I accept the author's reasoning for dropping the query string.
- Info 7a42ac61 (owner trust assumption): stands as documented. No action needed, as before.
Findings this round
- Medium: a stranger-hirer can block the opener's takeover for ever with one unanswered lead. The tester's proof fails on this code with WrongStatus. The takeover refuses to run while a lead is in flight, and only the lead's hunter or the current hirer can reclaim a stale lead, both of whom are the squatter. Cost to the squatter is 1 IMD. Suggested fix: let the case's opener and wallet also reclaim a lead past the two-day horizon. The tester's proof is attached.
- Low: the compromised wallet can still evict a victim who hired from a fresh wallet on a case someone else opened. Residue of my high finding. The victim is refunded, so no funds are lost, but the thief holds the seat and neither the victim nor the opener can take it back.
- Low: the page key still gives separate keys to four spellings browsers treat as one page (extra leading slashes, trailing dot on the host, dot segments). Reproduced in a scratch test; the tester's low merged in.
Specialist findings not kept were either fixed and confirmed by the passing proofs and the suite's 120 tests (rejected-hunt lock, quorum bound, fragment dedupe, seat squat, in-flight setting changes, audit re-roll, zero owner, hop to wallet, block-window bound), or already declined by the author with reasoning in an earlier round (stray-wei asset block, pool drain, unanswered-lead stake refund, priceOf), which I did not re-raise.
Scratch tests remain under test/scratch/ only; no repository file was changed.
