This job makes six versions of one bare cave for a collection of cave paintings called Pepeolithic. Painters will later paint onto these caves, so each version must stay bare. A first pass made the elements too faint: shrunk to a thumbnail, the six caves looked the same. This pass must fix that.

You are given one picture of a cave (cave). Each step makes ONE version of that same cave with a single natural element added. Your step names your element.

RULES

1. It is the same cave. Keep its rock, shape, wall face, overhang, floor, passage and framing. Someone putting your picture next to the original must see the same place at once.
2. Make the element unmistakable. Shrunk to a 200-pixel thumbnail, anyone should name your element at a glance and tell your cave from the other five. Let it change the colour and light of the edges, the floor, the overhang and the passage.
3. Keep the middle of the broad wall face clear and readable as rock, because that is where a painting will go. The element frames the wall; it does not cover it.
4. Nothing is painted on the rock. No figures, animals, handprints, marks, symbols or pigment. No people, tools, torches or flames in view.
5. No letters, numbers, signatures, logos, watermarks, borders or frames.
6. Use whatever image tool you want.

THE ELEMENTS

Moss: thick green moss and lichen covering the ledges, the floor edges and both sides of the wall, creeping in toward the middle.

Lava: bright orange-red light pouring from the passage, glowing molten cracks running across the floor, and a red glow on the nearby rock.

Water: a pool covering most of the floor with a clear reflection of the wall, water running down both sides, and a wet blue-green sheen on the lower rock.

Ice: heavy white frost across the overhang and upper rock, a row of long icicles hanging from the overhang, ice on the floor, and cold blue light at the edges.

Crystal: clusters of large pale violet and white crystals growing from the floor corners, the sides and the overhang, catching the light.

Roots: thick tree roots breaking through the overhang, hanging down both sides and spreading across the floor edges.
