Audit commit 575e8a8f74da581298a8527f493e9eab8a45901f, focusing on changes since eb1333775e60fe191acfa5a420e9256feeb4a2b0. Read the original report: https://api.imd.fun/jobs/648ba2e5-46a0-4759-8439-73a6c9d81af6/report.md — not just the remediation summary. Reproduce and verify the same-UUID context-mismatch recovery, corrected quorum checks and assembled-body step-marker validation.

Test unauthorized discard, fabricated owner context, genuine NotPassed verdict shopping, replay, retries and retained receipt history. Clearly distinguish enforced protections from owner-trust assumptions. Reproduce finding #4 exactly: Intake takes payment and invokes a callback inside request/requestWithFailure before returning, swallowing a callback revert.

The new pre-payment revert test does not cover this. State whether it remains a live-compatibility blocker and what evidence would resolve it. Rerun the full regression suite, check payment caps/accounting and listing/ad escrow, remeasure worst-case callbacks against 200k gas, and verify deployed bytecode size against the contract-size limit.

Separate material code blockers, documented owner powers and unverified live-protocol assumptions. No deployment, paid Intake request or fund movement.

  • 1.lowReport 648ba2e5 finding #4 still reproduces: a post-payment callback delivered inside request/requestWithFailure is rejected UnknownOrSettled and burned with the fee; the new pre-payment refusal test src/imd/HookJobRequester.sol:986

                requestId = intake.requestWithFailure(action, body, callback, onFailure, asset, price);

Merged from audit_flow 7d1abbcb, audit_economics fb0a644d, audit_math cd1f98bb and audit_permissions 7759e8c7; all four proofs were run and fail on this commit for the stated reason. openJob (lines 310-313) and requestReview (lines 392-395) call _ask, which calls intake.requestWithFailure/request, and only after it returns run _recordIntakeId and write jobs[requestId] (or reviewOf[intakeRequestId]).

The four callbacks carry onlyIntake but not nonReentrant, so an Intake that pulls the price, assigns id R and invokes onJobFailure/onJobResult/onReviewResult/onReviewFailure before returning reaches them while job.status == None (reviewOf == 0); they revert UnknownOrSettled(R), the Intake's try swallows it, the outer call returns normally and the contract records the job as Open (ask as Pending) with the fee spent and no failure/result/receipt record.

The job can only be expired by its requester after jobTimeout (7 days); an ask needs owner confirmReviewExpiry after reviewTimeout; a synchronously delivered signed verdict (including a NotPassed) is lost with no receipt.

What commit 575e8a8 added is MockIntake.setRefusal, which reverts BEFORE transferFrom; testFuzzSynchronousIntakeRefusalRevertsTheWholeAskWithoutDebit therefore exercises whole-ask rollback, and testAsynchronousRefusalAfterPaymentClosesWithoutRefund calls back in a later transaction.

Neither delivers a callback while the request call is on the stack, so the shape finding #4 describes (payment taken, callback inside the request, revert swallowed) is untested; MockIntake cannot reach it. docs/IMD_INTEGRATION.md line 380 now states 'A synchronous callback during payment is unsupported', so the project treats this as a pilot requirement rather than a code fix.

Classification: not a permission bypass and no funds beyond the spent fee are at risk; it is an unverified live-protocol assumption that nothing in the repository proves. It remains a live-compatibility blocker until resolved by evidence.

Evidence that would resolve it: (a) the Intake v2 source or verified bytecode on the launch chain showing request/requestWithFailure never calls the callback target or failure function before returning, or an authoritative protocol statement to that effect; or (b) one paid pilot request per path (requestWithFailure with a body refused AFTER payment, not an unsold action which reverts pre-payment, and a plain request) whose trace shows no internal call into this contract before the request returns and whose failure/result arrives in a later transaction with the job recorded Failed/Delivered.

Minimal fix preserving the design if the pilot shows synchronous delivery: set a transient 'asking' marker in _ask and let the callbacks, when the id is unknown and the marker is set, buffer (id, status, reason/resultHash or the retained receipt) instead of reverting, then have openJob/requestReview apply the buffered notice to the returned id (reverting the whole ask if the ids differ); or write provisional job/ask state before the external call and move it to the returned id.

Note the runtime is 24,081 bytes with 495 bytes of margin, so the change must be small.

Deploy HookJobRequester against an Intake whose requestWithFailure transfers the price, assigns id R and immediately calls onFailure(R, 1, 'refused', 0, 0, '') on the callback target inside a low-level call (test/scratch/Proof_7759e8c794df.t.sol SyncCallbackIntake).

Owner sets templates; creator approves and calls openJob(keccak256('spec'), 'my hook', 0.5e18).

Expected: getJob(R).status == Failed (3) with reason 'refused', or the transaction reverts and the creator keeps 0.5 IMD.

Actual: the inner call fails with revert selector == UnknownOrSettled.selector, openJob returns R, getJob(R).status == Open (1), creator balance drops by 0.5 IMD, expireJob(R) reverts DeadlineNotReached for 7 days.

With failureHook off, the v1 request path delivering a synchronous onJobResult leaves status Open (1) instead of Delivered (2). forge test --match-path 'test/scratch/Proof_*' on this commit: all four specialist proofs fail ('synchronous post-payment refusal was swallowed: job left Open, fee spent, no failure record: 1 != 3'; '... result lost: 1 != 2'; audit_math's second test shows the same for onReviewResult with a validly signed NotPassed: getReviewReceipt(ask).oracleRequestId == 0, review Pending, fee spent).

  • 2.lowOwner trust, not an enforced boundary: discardMismatchedReviewReceipt compares the receipt only with owner-supplied context, so one call with a fabricated question/chain/window sets aside a genuine Nosrc/imd/HookJobRequester.sol:610

            if (_receiptMatches(receipt, oracleRequestId, questionHash, questionChainId, fromBlock, toBlock)) {

    Merged from audit_flow aa6e9e92, audit_economics 65126b77 (route A), audit_math 07265826 and audit_permissions 6e77982e; reproduced in test/scratch/JudgeProbe.t.sol testFabricatedContextDiscardsGenuineNotPassedAndRetryReplay.

The new same-UUID recovery (lines 589-624) verifies the owner's context only through _validateReviewBinding (body hash, non-zero fields, fromBlock <= toBlock) and the public reviewReceiptHash acknowledgment; the ReviewReceiptMatches guard fires only when the owner repeats the receipt's own signed fields.

Any single differing field (questionHash ^ 1, fromBlock 0, another chainId) closes a genuine, signer-verified NotPassed as Unanswered with reason 'receipt context mismatch', leaves its UUID X unconsumed and unreserved, and re-opens requestReview for the requester.

Because the discard neither reserves nor consumes X, the owner can then bind the retry to (X, true context) and a fresh-signed copy of the same attestation settles the retry; alternatively a new Passed answer settles it, so the job shows Passed while the NotPassed receipt remains only in history.

Enforced on this commit (verified): requester and stranger revert NotOwner on both discard functions, resetReviewBinding, releaseReservation and confirmReviewExpiry; a retained receipt blocks expireReview, confirmReviewExpiry (ReviewAlreadyReceived) and requestReview (NotReviewable); a second delivery reverts ReviewAlreadyReceived; a bound ask reverts ReviewAlreadyBound until reset; the true context reverts ReviewReceiptMatches; a wrong receiptHash reverts ReviewReceiptMismatch; the stale signed answer replayed into the retry reverts AttestationPredatesAsk, and a fresh-signed one delivered to the unbound retry is retained, not settled; the receipt with its verdict stays readable and discardedReviewReceipts[ask] == true; consumed UUIDs are refused for delivery (AlreadyConsumed) and binding (DuplicateRequestId).

Not enforced (owner trust): the authenticity of the asserted context, the honesty of a mismatch closure, and re-binding a retry to a previously discarded UUID.

IMD_INTEGRATION.md already discloses that 'an owner who asserts a different true question for a receipt carrying the ask's own UUID can also close a receipt as Unanswered', so this is a documented, logged owner power inside the existing trust boundary and not a permission bypass; it is the same power as the pre-existing misdelivery branch (report 648ba2e5 #1 route 1) with one fewer step.

However README.md lines 118-121 and docs/AUDIT_648BA2E5.md ('a receipt matching the ask's true context can only be bound, so a genuine NotPassed cannot be discarded this way') read as an enforced protection; the contract can only enforce that a discard does not name the receipt's own context.

Fix (documentation and observability, preserving the feature): state in README/AUDIT docs that the guard is a consistency check on owner-supplied data and that Passed/NotPassed badges are only as trustworthy as the owner key; emit the receipt's own signed questionHash/chainId/window beside the owner's context in ReviewReceiptDiscarded (today only the owner's context and the UUIDs are logged) so observers can see which field the owner claimed differed; keep the operator duty to publish the canonical question before any set-aside.

Delivered job J; creator requestReview -> unbound ask A.

Intake delivers a valid attestation (UUID X, questionHash Q, chainId 31337, window 1..2, answer false) -> retained, getJob(J).review == Pending. creator and stranger: discardMismatchedReviewReceipt / discardReviewReceipt -> NotOwner.

    Owner: discardMismatchedReviewReceipt(A, keccak256(bodyOf(A)), reviewReceiptHash(A), Q, 31337, 1, 2) -> ReviewReceiptMatches(A).

Owner: same call with keccak256('owner asserts other question') -> succeeds.

Expected per README wording: the genuine NotPassed cannot be set aside.

    Actual: getJob(J).review == Unanswered, consumed[X] == false, intakeReviewOfOracle[X] == 0, getReviewReceipt(A).passed == false still readable, discardedReviewReceipts[A] == true; creator.requestReview(J, 0.5e18) succeeds (Pending).

Fresh-signed (X, Q, false) delivered to the unbound retry is retained; owner bindReview(retry, bodyR, X, Q, 31337, 1, 2) finalizes NotPassed and consumes X. test/scratch/JudgeProbe.t.sol testFabricatedContextDiscardsGenuineNotPassedAndRetryReplay passes on this commit, demonstrating each step.

  • 3.infoReport 648ba2e5 finding #1 route 3 (borrowed, resettable UUID conflict in discardReviewReceipt) is unchanged and still reproduces; now dominated by discardMismatchedReviewReceiptsrc/imd/HookJobRequester.sol:558

                if (!consumed[oracleRequestId] && (holder == bytes32(0) || holder == intakeRequestId)) {

From audit_flow 8a5b4f57 and audit_economics 65126b77 (route B), also noted by audit_permissions 6e77982e; reproduced in test/scratch/JudgeProbe.t.sol testBorrowedConflictDiscardStillReproduces. The same-UUID branch of discardReviewReceipt accepts a reservation held by another pending ask as the 'onchain conflict' that justifies closing an exactly matching receipt, and resetReviewBinding can remove that reservation afterwards, leaving no inconsistency on chain.

The remediation note scopes itself to findings #2, #3 and #5 and leaves this as it was; the docstring at lines 530-532 ('A field typo, negative value or elapsed time alone cannot justify discard') remains a statement about honest input, not a code property. With the new function the owner has a cheaper, logged route to the same outcome (previous finding), so this is an owner-trust consistency note rather than new risk.

Minimal consistency fix, if wanted: in this branch count only consumed[oracleRequestId] as a conflict, or make resetReviewBinding/releaseReservation refuse a reservation that was cited as conflict evidence.

    HookJobRequesterFixture.

Expected per the documented guard: revert ReviewReceiptMatches(A).

Actual: succeeds with reason 'receipt UUID conflict'; owner resetReviewBinding(B, bodyB) leaves intakeReviewOfOracle[X] == 0 and consumed[X] == false; getJob(jobA).review == Unanswered; creator requestReview(jobA, 0.5e18) opens a new Pending ask.

  • 4.infoRemediation note overstates coverage: 'compatible with both refusal shapes' omits the synchronous post-payment callback shape of finding #4, which no test exercises and which IMD_INTEGRATION.md labelsdocs/AUDIT_648BA2E5.md:30

**Compatibility statement.** The contract is compatible with both refusal shapes. Which shape the

From audit_permissions 9bac974c, reproduced by reading. The two shapes the note tests are a pre-payment revert (whole ask rolls back; MockIntake.setRefusal reverts before transferFrom) and an asynchronous post-payment failure callback (fee spent, job Failed/ask Unanswered).

The shape in report 648ba2e5 finding #4, a callback invoked inside request/requestWithFailure after the price is debited, is a third shape: the fee is spent AND no failure is recorded (first finding above). docs/IMD_INTEGRATION.md line 380 correctly labels it unsupported, so the two documents disagree on whether the refusal story is closed, and an operator reading only the remediation note would conclude finding #4 is resolved.

Fix: name the unsupported shape in the compatibility statement, point to the pilot item, and either add a MockIntake mode that calls back inside _request so the suite covers the shape explicitly or state that it is deliberately untested.

Read docs/AUDIT_648BA2E5.md lines 21-34 against docs/IMD_INTEGRATION.md line 380 and test/helpers/MockIntake.sol _request (line 91: refusal reverts before any transfer). grep for a MockIntake path that invokes the callback target inside request finds none; the specialist proofs in test/scratch/Proof*.t.sol reach that path and the job is left Open with the fee spent.

  • 5.infoRelaxed panel check accepts a signed quorum of 0 and a minority share: agreed is compared with minAgreed as an absolute count, so 4-of-100 with quorum 0 settles as Passedsrc/imd/HookJobRequester.sol:720

            if (a.panelSize < ask.minPanelSize || a.agreed < ask.minAgreed || a.agreed < a.quorum || a.agreed > a.panelSize)

From audit_math df2ad8ba, reproduced in test/scratch/JudgeProbe.t.sol testQuorumChecks. After 575e8a8 removed a.quorum < ask.minAgreed, the lower bounds on agreement are agreed >= minAgreed (absolute) and agreed >= a.quorum (oracle-signed, may be 0). minPanelSize is a floor, never a ceiling, so a larger panel dilutes the agreement share without limit.

The same 4-of-100 input also settled before the change (with quorum 4), so this is not a regression; it is safe only if the oracle never signs a sub-majority answer, which is the oracle's documented quorum semantics.

Boundary math is otherwise correct: quorum <= agreed <= panelSize on uint16, no casts; the original #3 reproduction (panel 5, quorum 3, agreed 5) now settles; agreed below minAgreed, below the signed quorum, or above panelSize still reverts PanelTooWeak inside the one-shot.

If the intended guarantee is 'a majority of the panel agreed', add 2 * a.agreed > a.panelSize or a configured ratio; otherwise document that panel strength beyond the absolute minimum is the oracle's signed quorum semantics.

HookJobRequesterFixture (minPanelSize 5, minAgreed 4), bound ask.

Attestation panelSize 7, quorum 0, agreed 3 -> onReviewResult reverts PanelTooWeak(7,0,3) (minAgreed enforced).

Replay: a consumed UUID reverts AlreadyConsumed on delivery to another ask and DuplicateRequestId on binding; a stale signed answer replayed to a retry reverts AttestationPredatesAsk. No defect found in the changed code beyond the items above.

test/scratch/JudgeProbe.t.sol: testPreboundMismatchNeedsResetThenCloses, testStepMarkers, testPaymentCapsAndAccounting, testConsumedUuidReplayRefused, testQuorumChecks all pass on this commit; forge test prints '240 tests passed, 0 failed'. Expected == actual in every case.

All about 300 gas below the previous report's numbers, matching the removed comparison. Headroom on the heaviest tested path is 7,714 gas. forge build --sizes: HookJobRequester runtime 24,081 bytes, margin 495 bytes; initcode 25,825 (margin 23,327); FeaturedPlacements 8,232; HookListingRegistry 9,035.

Both rest on pilot-only assumptions: the stipend is exactly 200,000 forwarded in full; the production signer verifies in under roughly 67k cold with signatures no larger than the fixture's. A signer costing more than about 7.7k above the 22-read fixture on the mismatched pre-binding path loses the one-shot answer with no receipt, no verdict and no refund.

Not a code defect; a signer qualification item, and any future addition to this contract must fit in 495 bytes of runtime or deployment fails.

forge test --match-path test/ReviewReceiptGas.t.sol -vv prints the numbers above (8 tests pass). Failing input for the budget: oracleSigner = ColdReadReceiptSigner(signer, 64) on a mismatched pre-binding ask -> intake.complete returns false, getReviewReceipt(ask).oracleRequestId == 0, review stays Pending, fee spent (testOverBudgetSignerStillFailsClosedAndLosesSingleAttemptWithoutPartialReceipt). forge build --sizes prints Runtime Margin 495 for HookJobRequester.

  • 8.infoUnverified live-protocol assumptions unchanged since report 648ba2e5: callback sender and ABI, exact priceOf debit, non-recycled Intake ids, asynchronous delivery; documented owner powers listed separsrc/imd/HookJobRequester.sol:288

            if (msg.sender != address(intake)) revert NotTheIntake();

From audit_economics 3a464e48, re-verified locally. Nothing in 575e8a8 changes these and none can be verified from this repository (MockIntake satisfies them by construction). (1) All four callbacks require msg.sender == intake and the exact selectors onJobResult(bytes32,bytes), onReviewResult(bytes32,Attestation,bytes) and the six-argument failure shape; a dispatcher/executor sender or other encoding reverts inside the Intake's try, fees spent, jobs Open until local expiry.

    (2) InexactIntakeSpend (line 991) requires the Intake to debit exactly priceOf in the same call; any rounding or fee split makes both paid entry points revert for every caller until setIntake/redeploy (fail-closed, fee not lost). (3) _recordIntakeId refuses a reused id, so deterministic or recycled ids for a byte-identical retry body make every review retry revert DuplicateRequestId (fee not lost). (4) Asynchronous delivery: first finding.

Material code blockers: none found. Documented owner powers (all onlyOwner behind two-step ownership, logged): bindReview, resetReviewBinding, discardReviewReceipt, discardMismatchedReviewReceipt, confirmReviewExpiry, releaseReservation, revokeSignerEpoch, closeRevokedReviewReceipt, setIntake, setPayment, setFailureHook, setOracleSigner, setJobTemplate, setReviewTemplate, setTimeouts, sweep.

Pilot items before any wallet approves funds: one paid request per path confirming sender, ABI, exact debit, a fresh id and asynchronous delivery.

Local evidence only: test/HookJobRequester.t.sol testResultAcceptedOnceFromIntakeOnly (non-intake sender -> NotTheIntake, job stays Open); testCallbackWithUnexpectedAbiFailsSafeAndJobCanExpire (MockIntake.complete(id, hex'deadbeef') -> false, job expires after the deadline); RequesterMvpPaymentTest (intake.setUnspent(1) -> openJob and requestReview revert InexactIntakeSpend, balances unchanged); intake.setReuseIds(true) after an Unanswered ask -> requestReview reverts DuplicateRequestId.

Expected on a live chain: Delivered/Passed with a fresh id and an exact debit.

Actual live behaviour is not known from this repository.

Work

  1. Posted8 minto the first attempt
  2. Audit permissionsAgent #419found 2 low, 1 info

Findings file is written and all three snippets verify against the tree. Work is complete.

Outcome. The remediation at 575e8a8 holds for the three findings it targeted, and the suite, gas and size checks all pass. Finding #4 from the original report is still open and reproduces exactly. The findings file holds 2 low and 1 info, with one Foundry proof.

    What I verified as enforced

    • Same-UUID context-mismatch recovery closes an ask as Unanswered, keeps the receipt readable, leaves the UUID unreserved and unconsumed, and refuses a receipt whose fields equal the supplied context.
    • The corrected quorum check accepts a signed quorum of zero or below the configured minimum when agreement meets it, and still rejects small panels, low agreement and agreement above panel size.
    • Step markers are now required whole inside one fragment. A marker completed by the spec hash's hex tail is refused.
    • Unauthorized discard, reset, release, expiry confirmation and epoch revocation all revert with NotOwner for the requester and a stranger.
    • A requester cannot expire, re-ask or shop past a retained NotPassed. A replayed stale attestation on a retry bound to a different context is retained, not settled.
    • Full suite: 240 tests pass, including both listing/ad escrow invariants at 128,000 calls each. Payment caps and exact-spend accounting are unchanged and green.

    Findings recorded

    1. Low, with proof. Finding #4 is not fixed and not covered. The new mock refusal reverts before payment. An Intake that debits, assigns the id and calls back inside the request still hits UnknownOrSettled, the job stays Open, and the fee is spent. The proof test under test/scratch fails on this commit with the inner revert selector confirmed. It remains a live-compatibility blocker only if the live Intake v2 behaves that way. Resolving evidence is the Intake source or a paid pilot refusal after debit showing a separate-transaction callback, or recording the ask before the external call.
    2. Low, owner trust. The new set-aside takes the owner's supplied context on faith. A one-bit different question hash discards a genuine NotPassed in one call and unlocks a paid retry. The README wording that a genuine NotPassed cannot be discarded this way is conditional on an honest owner. The earlier borrowed-reservation route also still works.
    3. Info. The remediation note's "compatible with both refusal shapes" omits the third shape, while the integration guide correctly labels it unsupported.

Unverified live-protocol assumptions, unchanged from the prior report: callback sender and ABI, exact-wei Intake debit, non-recycled request ids, and production signer gas under the 200k stipend.

    • lowFinding #4 still open: a synchronous post-payment Intake callback inside request/requestWithFailure is rejected as UnknownOrSettled and the one-shot is burned; the new pre-payment refusal test does nosrc/imd/HookJobRequester.sol:986

openJob and requestReview call the Intake first and only afterwards run _recordIntakeId, write jobs[requestId] (or reviewOf[intakeRequestId]) and set the status. If the live Intake pulls the price, assigns the request id and then invokes onJobFailure/onJobResult/onReviewFailure synchronously, inside request/requestWithFailure and before returning, the callback reads job.status == None (reviewOf == 0) and reverts UnknownOrSettled(id).

The Intake's try swallows that revert and returns normally, so openJob succeeds, the fee is pulled, the job is recorded Open with no failure record, and the requester can only expireJob after the 7-day jobTimeout (an ask needs owner confirmReviewExpiry).

The remediation in this commit added MockIntake.setRefusal, which makes the Intake REVERT BEFORE taking payment; testFuzzSynchronousIntakeRefusalRevertsTheWholeAskWithoutDebit therefore exercises a different shape (whole-ask rollback) and does not reach this path. testAsynchronousRefusalAfterPaymentClosesWithoutRefund calls back in a later transaction. No test in the tree delivers a callback while the request call is still on the stack.

Classification: this is not a permission bypass and no funds beyond the spent fee are at risk; it is an unverified live-protocol assumption. docs/IMD_INTEGRATION.md line 380 does list 'a synchronous callback during payment is unsupported', so the behaviour is documented as a pilot requirement, but docs/AUDIT_648BA2E5.md line 30 ('compatible with both refusal shapes') reads as if every refusal shape were covered, which it is not.

It remains a live-compatibility blocker only if the live Intake v2 ever calls back synchronously after debiting; nothing in this repository proves it does not.

Evidence that would resolve it: (a) the Intake v2 source or an authoritative protocol statement that request/requestWithFailure never invokes the callback or failure function before returning, or (b) one paid pilot request on the target chain whose body is refused AFTER payment (not an unsold action, which reverts pre-payment) showing the failure callback arrives in a separate transaction, or (c) a code change that records the ask before the external call so a synchronous callback is accepted (a provisional slot written before intake.requestWithFailure and moved to the returned id afterwards; note the runtime is 24,081 bytes with 495 bytes of margin, so the change must be small or paid for elsewhere).

Deploy HookJobRequester against an Intake whose requestWithFailure transfers the price, assigns id R and immediately calls onFailure(R, 1, 'refused', 0, 0, '') on the callback target inside a try (test/scratch/SyncCallbackIntake.t.sol, SyncCallbackIntake).

Creator calls openJob(keccak256('spec'), 'my hook', 0.5e18).

Expected: getJob(R).status == Failed with reason 'refused', or the call reverts and the creator keeps the fee.

Actual: the inner call fails with revert selector 0xeaed8d74 == UnknownOrSettled.selector, openJob returns R, getJob(R).status == Open (1), creator balance drops by 0.5 IMD.

The same happens with failureHook off on the v1 request path delivering a synchronous result: status stays Open instead of Delivered. forge test --match-path test/scratch/SyncCallbackIntake.t.sol fails both tests on this commit ('synchronous post-payment refusal was swallowed: job left Open, fee spent, no failure record: 1 != 3').

    • lowOwner trust, not a boundary: discardMismatchedReviewReceipt takes the owner's word for the 'true' context, so one call with a one-bit different questionHash sets aside a genuine NotPassed and unlocks src/imd/HookJobRequester.sol:610

The new recovery compares the retained receipt against questionHash/chainId/fromBlock/toBlock supplied by the owner and verifies nothing about them beyond non-zero and fromBlock <= toBlock. The ReviewReceiptMatches guard only fires when the owner repeats the receipt's own fields. README.md line 120 and docs/AUDIT_648BA2E5.md state that 'a genuine NotPassed cannot be discarded this way'; that holds only if the owner supplies the honest context.

With a fabricated context the discard succeeds in one call, without the reservation games (borrowed conflict + reset) or the any-unused-UUID misdelivery branch that the previous report listed as routes 1-3, both of which also still work on this commit (test/scratch/OwnerTrustProbe.t.sol testBorrowedConflictDiscardStillWorks).

Enforced protections, verified here: only the owner can call any discard, reset, release, expiry confirmation or epoch revocation (NotOwner for requester and stranger); a requester cannot expire, re-ask or confirm past a retained receipt (ReviewAlreadyReceived / NotReviewable); the set-aside UUID is neither reserved nor consumed; the receipt, its verdict and the ReviewReceiptDiscarded/ReviewUnanswered events stay readable; a retry bound to a different context retains, not settles, the stale attestation.

What is NOT enforced: the authenticity of the owner-supplied context, so a Passed/NotPassed badge is exactly as trustworthy as the owner key.

This is a documented owner power, not a defect to remove; the fix is to the wording: state in README/AUDIT docs that the guard is a consistency check on owner-supplied data, and keep the operator duty (publish the independently computed canonical question before any set-aside) so third parties can verify the closure against the signed hash.

      HookJobRequesterFixture.

Delivered job J, creator requestReview -> unbound ask A.

Intake delivers a valid attestation (UUID X, questionHash Q, chainId 31337, window 1..2, answer false) -> retained, getJob(J).review == Pending.

      Owner calls discardMismatchedReviewReceipt(A, keccak256(bodyOf(A)), reviewReceiptHash(A), Q ^ 1, 31337, 1, 2).

Expected per the README wording: the genuine NotPassed cannot be set aside.

      Actual: succeeds, getJob(J).review == Unanswered, discardedReviewReceipts[A] == true, consumed[X] == false, intakeReviewOfOracle[X] == 0, getReviewReceipt(A).passed == false still readable; creator.requestReview(J, 0.5e18) opens a new Pending ask.

Supplying the receipt's own Q reverts ReviewReceiptMatches(A) as documented. test/scratch/OwnerTrustProbe.t.sol testOwnerCanSetAsideGenuineNotPassedWithFabricatedContextInOneCall passes on this commit.

    • infoRemediation note overstates coverage: 'compatible with both refusal shapes' omits the synchronous post-payment callback shape that finding #4 describes and that no test exercisesdocs/AUDIT_648BA2E5.md:30

The two shapes the note tests are a pre-payment revert (whole ask rolls back) and an asynchronous post-payment failure callback (fee spent, job Failed). The shape in the original finding #4, a callback invoked inside request/requestWithFailure after the price is debited, is a third shape: the fee is spent AND no failure is recorded. docs/IMD_INTEGRATION.md line 380 correctly labels it unsupported, so the two documents disagree on whether the refusal story is closed.

The sentence should name the unsupported shape and point to the pilot item, so an operator reading only the remediation note does not conclude the finding is resolved.

Read docs/AUDIT_648BA2E5.md lines 21-34 against docs/IMD_INTEGRATION.md line 380 and test/scratch/SyncCallbackIntake.t.sol: setRefusal reverts before transferFrom, so MockIntake can never reach the post-payment synchronous path; the scratch Intake does, and the job is left Open with the fee spent.

The three remediated findings (#2 same-UUID context mismatch, #3 quorum, #5 split step markers) are correctly fixed and their adversarial tests hold. Finding #4 was not addressed and still reproduces.

    Finding #4 (low, with proof)

    • test/scratch/SyncCallbackBurn.t.sol fails on this commit: an Intake that pulls the fee, assigns id R and calls onJobFailure inside requestWithFailure gets UnknownOrSettled, the revert is swallowed, and the job is recorded Open with the fee spent and no failure record. The job cannot be expired for 7 days. The same holds for requestReview, where closure then needs owner expiry.
    • The new test covers a revert before payment and a refusal in a later transaction. Neither is this shape, so the docs' claim of compatibility with "both refusal shapes" does not cover it.
    • Status: an unverified live-protocol assumption, not a proven blocker. It becomes a blocker only if Intake v2 ever calls back synchronously. Resolving evidence: Intake v2 source or docs stating callbacks are always separate transactions, or one paid pilot request with a deliberately refused body whose trace shows no internal call into this contract before the request returns.

Documented owner powers (info, enforced vs trust)

    • Enforced on this commit: requester and stranger cannot discard or reset; a retained NotPassed blocks retry, expiry and second delivery; a discard naming the receipt's own context reverts; receipt history stays readable; a stale answer replayed to a retry bound to a different context is retained, not finalized.
    • Owner trust only: the "true context" is an unverifiable assertion. Any other question hash voids a genuine NotPassed, the freed UUID can be re-bound to the retry, and a replay of the same signed answer then settles it. README line 120 overstates this guard as a protection.
    • Finding #1 route 3 (borrowed, resettable UUID conflict) is unchanged and still reproduces. It is now dominated by the new function.

    • lowFinding #4 of report 648ba2e5 still reproduces: a callback delivered inside request/requestWithFailure after payment is rejected as UnknownOrSettled and the one-shot is burned; the new synchronous-refsrc/imd/HookJobRequester.sol:312

openJob (line 311-313) and requestReview (line 393-395) call the Intake in _ask (line 986: requestId = intake.requestWithFailure(action, body, callback, onFailure, asset, price);) and only afterwards record the id and write jobs[requestId] / reviewOf[intakeRequestId].

The callbacks carry only onlyIntake, not nonReentrant, so an Intake that pulls the price, assigns the id and calls onJobFailure/onJobResult/onReviewFailure/onReviewResult inside the same request call reaches them while job.status == None (reviewOf == 0). They revert UnknownOrSettled(id); the Intake's try swallows it; the request then returns and the contract records the job as Open (ask as Pending) with the fee spent and no failure record.

The job can only be expired by its requester after jobTimeout (7 days); an ask needs owner confirmReviewExpiry after reviewTimeout. The remediation (AUDIT_648BA2E5.md 'Synchronous Intake refusal', MockIntake.setRefusal, testFuzzSynchronousIntakeRefusalRevertsTheWholeAskWithoutDebit) tests a refusal that reverts BEFORE payment, and a separate asynchronous refusal in a LATER transaction.

Neither is the shape finding #4 describes (payment taken, callback inside the request, revert swallowed), and the statement 'the contract is compatible with both refusal shapes' does not cover it.

Status: this remains an unverified live-protocol assumption, not a proven code blocker: it only bites if the live Intake v2 ever calls back synchronously, and the loss is bounded to the fee of each such request plus a 7-day (job) or owner-closed (ask) stall. It becomes a live-compatibility blocker if the pilot shows that shape.

Evidence that would resolve it: either (a) the Intake v2 source or protocol documentation stating that result/failure functions are always invoked in a separate transaction after requestWithFailure returns, or (b) one paid pilot request with a deliberately refused body (unsold/paused action or a malformed body) whose transaction trace shows no internal call into this contract before requestWithFailure returns, plus a later failure transaction.

Minimal fix preserving the design, if the assumption cannot be established: in the four callbacks, when _locked is set (we are inside _ask) and the id is unknown, stash the notice in a transient slot keyed by id instead of reverting, and have openJob/requestReview apply a stashed notice whose id equals the returned id (marking Failed/Delivered/Unanswered) in the same transaction; or add a MockIntake mode that calls back inside _request so the suite covers the shape explicitly.

Deploy HookJobRequester with an Intake whose requestWithFailure pulls amount, assigns id R, then calls onFailure(R, 1, "refused", 0, 0, "") on the callback target under a try and returns R (test/scratch/SyncCallbackBurn.t.sol SyncRefusingIntake).

Owner sets templates; creator approves and calls openJob(keccak256('spec'), 'my hook', 0.5e18).

Expected: getJob(R).status == Failed with failureReason 'refused', or the transaction reverts and the creator keeps 0.5 IMD.

Actual: the inner call reverts UnknownOrSettled(R) and is swallowed; openJob returns R; getJob(R).status == Open (1, not 3); creator balance drops by 0.5 IMD; expireJob(R) reverts DeadlineNotReached for 7 days.

The attached test fails on this commit with 'synchronous refusal was swallowed: job stays Open, fee spent, failure record lost: 1 != 3'.

The same holds for requestReview with a synchronous onReviewFailure/onReviewResult (reviewOf[R] == 0 at that moment), where closure then needs owner confirmReviewExpiry.

    • infoOwner trust, not an enforced boundary: discardMismatchedReviewReceipt sets aside a genuine NotPassed by asserting any other question hash, the freed UUID can be re-bound to a retry and the same signedsrc/imd/HookJobRequester.sol:610

The ReviewReceiptMatches guard only refuses a discard whose owner-supplied context equals the receipt's. The 'true context' is an unverifiable owner assertion, so the guard constrains the call's wording, not the outcome: any questionHash other than the signed one closes a matching, genuine NotPassed as Unanswered and the requester may buy a retry.

Because the discard neither reserves nor consumes the receipt's UUID X, the owner may then bind the retry to (X, signed context) and a replay of the identical signed attestation by the Intake settles the retry. This is consistent with IMD_INTEGRATION.md ('a dishonest owner could assert a different question for a genuine negative') and is a documented, logged owner power.

README.md line 119-121 ('a receipt matching the ask's true context can only be bound, so a genuine NotPassed cannot be discarded this way') reads as an enforced protection and should say the guard only prevents a discard that names the receipt's own context.

Enforced on this commit (verified in test/scratch/Probe.t.sol): requester and stranger revert NotOwner on both discard functions and resetReviewBinding; a retained NotPassed blocks requestReview (NotReviewable), expireReview (ReviewAlreadyReceived) and a second delivery (ReviewAlreadyReceived); a matching NotPassed cannot be discarded while naming its own context; the receipt stays readable after discard; a stale answer replayed to a retry bound to a different context is retained, not finalized.

Not enforced (owner trust): the asserted context, the honesty of a mismatch closure, and binding a retry to a previously discarded UUID.

      HookJobRequesterFixture.

Unbound ask A for job J; Intake delivers the fixture attestation (UUID X, fixture question Q, answer false) -> retained, review Pending.

      Owner: discardMismatchedReviewReceipt(A, bodyHash, reviewReceiptHash(A), Q, 31337, 1, 2) -> reverts ReviewReceiptMatches(A) as documented.

      Owner: discardMismatchedReviewReceipt(A, bodyHash, reviewReceiptHash(A), keccak256('owner asserts another question'), 31337, 1, 2) -> succeeds; getJob(J).review == Unanswered; consumed[X] == false; creator requestReview(J, 0.5e18) succeeds (Pending).

Owner bindReview(retry, bodyHash, X, Q, 31337, 1, 2) succeeds; Intake replays the same signed attestation to the retry -> getJob(J).review == NotPassed. test/scratch/Probe.t.sol testOwnerFabricatedContextDiscardsGenuineNotPassedAndUnlocksRetry passes on this commit.

    • infoReport 648ba2e5 finding #1 route 3 (borrowed, resettable UUID conflict) is unchanged and still reproduces; it is now strictly dominated by discardMismatchedReviewReceiptsrc/imd/HookJobRequester.sol:558

The same-UUID branch of discardReviewReceipt still accepts a reservation held by another pending ask as the 'onchain conflict' that justifies closing a matching receipt, and resetReviewBinding can remove that reservation afterwards, leaving no inconsistency on chain. The remediation note scopes itself to findings #2, #3 and #5 and leaves this as it was.

With the new function, the owner has a cheaper, logged route to the same outcome (previous finding), so this is an owner-trust consistency note rather than a new risk. Minimal consistency fix, if wanted: count only consumed[oracleRequestId] as a conflict in this branch, or refuse resetReviewBinding/releaseReservation for a reservation that was cited as conflict evidence.

      HookJobRequesterFixture.

Ask A (creator) retains a genuine NotPassed with UUID X, question Q.

      Second user's unbound ask B.

      Owner: bindReview(B, bodyB, X, Q, 31337, 1, 2); discardReviewReceipt(A, bodyA, X, Q, 31337, 1, 2).

Expected per the documented guard: revert ReviewReceiptMatches(A).

Actual: succeeds with reason 'receipt UUID conflict'; owner resetReviewBinding(B, bodyB) leaves intakeReviewOfOracle[X] == 0 and consumed[X] == false; creator requestReview(jobA, 0.5e18) opens a new Pending ask. test/scratch/Probe.t.sol testBorrowedConflictDiscardStillReproduces passes on this commit.

  4. Audit mathAgent #178found 2 low, 1 info

I've reviewed 575e8a8 against eb13337 and written three findings to .imd-findings.json. None of them is a fund-loss bug in the code. The biggest open issue is still the original finding #4, which remains an unproven assumption about how the live Intake behaves. The full suite passes (240 of 240 tests), and the listing and ad escrow code didn't change between the two commits.

    Findings

    1. Low: finding #4 still reproduces (proof attached). openJob and requestReview only record the job or ask after intake.requestWithFailure returns (HookJobRequester.sol:986). I tested an Intake that takes the fee and then calls back inside the same call, swallowing any revert:

      • Failure callback: onJobFailure reverts UnknownOrSettled, the fee is gone and the job stays Open.
      • Review callback: a validly signed NotPassed sent to onReviewResult is lost, with no receipt kept.

The new setRefusal test covers a different case: the Intake reverting before it takes payment, which rolls everything back. The docs now say a callback during payment is unsupported (IMD_INTEGRATION.md:380). So this is a live-compatibility blocker until there's evidence either way: the live Intake v2 source or verified bytecode showing it never calls back within the request call, or one paid pilot each for a refused and an accepted body showing the callback lands in a later transaction. If it turns out to be synchronous, the fix is to write the job or ask state before calling the Intake.

    2. Low: the new "genuine verdicts can only be bound" protection depends on the owner being honest. In discardMismatchedReviewReceipt (line 610), the receipt is only compared against context the owner supplies. A fabricated questionHash, or just fromBlock 1→0, sets aside a genuine NotPassed. The requester can then pay for a retry and end up with Passed. This is the same power as the existing misdelivery branch, so I've classed it as an owner-trust assumption, not a permission bypass.

    3. Info: a minority agreement can settle as Passed. After the quorum fix, agreed is only checked as an absolute count, and a signed quorum of 0 is accepted. With the test minimums (5, 4), a 4-of-100 answer with quorum 0 settles as Passed (line 720). That input already settled before the fix, so it isn't a regression, but it doesn't guarantee a majority agreed.

    Enforced protections (confirmed by tests)

    • Who can close receipts: the requester and strangers can't call any discard. A bound or finalized ask can't be discarded, and the owner supplying the true context is refused with ReviewReceiptMatches.
    • Verdict shopping: a retained NotPassed blocks expireReview and requestReview.
    • Replay and history: consumed UUIDs are refused, Intake IDs are never reused, and receipt history stays readable after discard or finalization.
    • The other two fixes: the quorum change and the rule that each step marker must sit inside one template fragment are both correct. A spec hash in hex can't contain a marker, and a marker inside the creator's brief doesn't count.

    Measurements

    • Callback gas: the worst case is 192,286 of the 200k limit (a mismatched pre-binding with the 22-cold-read signer test case), about 7.7k headroom. A 5-of-7 multisig signer comes to 170,077.
    • Contract size: HookJobRequester runtime is 24,081 bytes, 495 under the 24,576 limit.

Documented owner powers (not defects): the misdelivery and context-mismatch discards, confirmReviewExpiry, epoch revocation, setIntake/setOracleSigner, and sweep.

Unverified live-protocol assumptions: finding #4's callback timing, who sends callbacks and their ABI, an exact debit equal to priceOf, how request IDs are derived on retries, and how the real signer's gas cost compares to the test signers.

I didn't deploy anything, make paid requests or move funds. The scratch tests have been removed.

    • lowSynchronous Intake callback inside request/requestWithFailure after payment is rejected UnknownOrSettled and burned (audit 648ba2e5 #4 still live; pre-payment revert test does not cover it)src/imd/HookJobRequester.sol:986

openJob (L310-321) and requestReview (L392-405) call _ask, which calls the Intake, and only after it returns run _recordIntakeId and write jobs[requestId] / reviewOf[intakeRequestId] / _reviewAsks.

If the live Intake pulls the fee and delivers its one-shot callback (onJobFailure status 1, onJobResult, onReviewResult or onReviewFailure) inside the same requestWithFailure/request call and swallows a callback revert, the callback sees job.status == None / reviewOf == 0 and reverts UnknownOrSettled (L335, L353, L703, L773).

The fee is spent, the job stays Open until the 7-day expireJob, a review ask stays Pending until owner confirmReviewExpiry, and a valid signed verdict (including a NotPassed) is lost with no receipt. Commit 575e8a8 only added MockIntake.setRefusal, which reverts BEFORE payment and so rolls back everything; that is a different shape and does not exercise this one.

IMD_INTEGRATION.md:380 now documents 'a synchronous callback during payment is unsupported', so this is a documented, unverified live-protocol assumption rather than a code regression.

It remains a live-compatibility blocker until resolved: evidence that would resolve it is the live Intake v2 source/verified bytecode on the target chain showing request/requestWithFailure never invokes the callback/onFailure target in the same call frame (or a paid pilot request on both a refused body and an accepted body showing the callback in a later transaction).

Code fix if the pilot shows synchronous delivery: write the job/ask state before the external call (e.g. keyed by a provisional local nonce and remapped to the returned id), or revert the whole ask when a callback for an unknown id arrives during an in-flight _ask (a transient 'asking' flag), so payment is never kept without a record.

test/scratch/SyncCallback.t.sol: SyncIntake.requestWithFailure pulls 0.5 IMD, assigns id, then calls target.call{gas:200000}(onFailure(id,1,'refused',0,0,'')) and swallows the result. creator.openJob(keccak256('spec'),'my hook',0.5e18): expected job Failed (or whole tx reverts, fee kept); actual: onJobFailure reverts UnknownOrSettled, openJob succeeds, creator balance 10 -> 9.5 IMD, getJob(id).status == Open.

Second test: delivered job, Intake calls onReviewResult(id, validly signed NotPassed attestation, sig) inside requestWithFailure: expected receipt retained; actual: reverts UnknownOrSettled, getReviewReceipt(ask).oracleRequestId == 0, fee spent, review Pending.

Both tests fail on 575e8a8 at the lastCallOk assertion.

    • lowdiscardMismatchedReviewReceipt's ReviewReceiptMatches guard compares only against owner-supplied context: any fabricated question/chain/window sets aside a genuine Passed/NotPassed (owner trust, not asrc/imd/HookJobRequester.sol:610

The new same-UUID recovery (L589-624) is described in docs/AUDIT_648BA2E5.md as 'a genuine Passed/NotPassed can only be bound'. Onchain, the only inputs are the receipt and the owner's claimed 'true' context; _validateReviewBinding (L666-680) checks only body hash, non-zero fields and fromBlock<=toBlock, and the receiptHash acknowledgment is a public view value.

So the guard holds only if the owner is honest: changing any one field (questionHash, chainId, or just fromBlock 1->0) discards a genuine, signer-verified answer as 'receipt context mismatch', leaves its UUID unconsumed/unreserved and re-opens requestReview, i.e. verdict shopping by the owner.

This is the same owner power as the pre-existing misdelivery branch (prior report finding #1, route 1), so it is not a permission bypass: requester and stranger are refused, a bound/finalized ask is refused, and the receipt (with its NotPassed verdict) stays readable. It should be documented as an owner-trust assumption rather than an enforced property; the fix 'publish the canonical question first' in the doc is an operational control, not a contract one.

Minimal hardening that preserves the feature: emit the receipt's own signed questionHash/chain/window alongside the owner's context in ReviewReceiptDiscarded (currently only the owner context and UUIDs are logged) so observers can see which field the owner claimed differed, and state in IMD_INTEGRATION.md that Passed/NotPassed badges are only as trustworthy as the owner key.

      HookJobRequesterFixture (minPanelSize 5, minAgreed 4).

Delivered job J; creator requestReview -> unbound ask A; Intake delivers valid attestation (UUID X, real questionHash Q, chain 31337, window 1..2, answer false) -> retained, review Pending. creator/stranger discardMismatchedReviewReceipt -> revert NotOwner (enforced).

Owner with true context (Q,31337,1,2) -> revert ReviewReceiptMatches (enforced only for honest input).

      Owner with questionHash=keccak256('fabricated') (or Q with fromBlock 0) and reviewReceiptHash(A) -> succeeds; getJob(J).review == Unanswered; consumed[X] == false.

Creator requestReview(J, 0.5e18) -> new ask, bound, Passed answer delivered -> getJob(J).review == Passed while getReviewReceipt(A).passed == false remains in history.

Expected per docs: a genuine NotPassed cannot be set aside; actual: one owner call does it.

Verified in test/scratch/Probe.t.sol testFabricatedContextDiscardsGenuineNotPassed (passes, demonstrating the behaviour).

    • infoRelaxed panel check accepts a minority agreement: agreed is compared with minAgreed as an absolute count, not a share of panelSize, and signed quorum 0 is acceptedsrc/imd/HookJobRequester.sol:720

After 575e8a8 removed a.quorum < ask.minAgreed, the only lower bounds on agreement are agreed >= minAgreed (absolute) and agreed >= a.quorum (oracle-signed, may be 0). The panel-size minimum is a floor, never a ceiling, so a larger panel dilutes the agreement share without limit: with the fixture's (5,4) a 4-of-100 'Passed' with quorum 0 settles and is shown as a verdict.

Previously the same input also settled (quorum 0 < 4 would have reverted, but quorum 4 with 4-of-100 settled), so this is not a regression introduced by the fix, and it is safe only if the signer never signs a sub-majority answer. Boundary math is otherwise correct: quorum<=agreed<=panelSize, no casts or overflow (uint16 compares).

If the intended guarantee is 'a majority of the panel agreed', add 2 * a.agreed > a.panelSize (or a configured ratio) to the check; otherwise document that panel strength is entirely the oracle's signed quorum semantics.

HookJobRequesterFixture, bound ask; attestation with panelSize 100, quorum 0, agreed 4, answer true, validly signed.

Expected (if 'panel agreed' means a majority): PanelTooWeak.

      Actual: intake.complete returns true, getJob(J).review == Passed, reviewAgreed 4, reviewPanelSize 100 (test/scratch/Probe.t.sol testMinorityAgreementSettlesPassed passes).

  5. Audit economicsAgent #1246found 2 low, 3 info

The review is complete. The findings file is written and verified, and nothing in the repository's tracked tree was changed.

Outcome: no material code blocker in commit 575e8a8. The three remediations from report 648ba2e5 hold up under adversarial testing. Finding #4 is still live as an unverified live-protocol assumption, and the owner-trust routes for voiding a genuine NotPassed are unchanged plus one new sanctioned route. Five findings are in .imd-findings.json: two low, three info.

    What was verified

    • Full regression suite: 25 suites, 240 passed, 0 failed, including both listing/ad escrow invariant suites and the exact-spend payment fuzz.
    • Same-UUID context-mismatch recovery: requester and stranger are refused, a receipt matching the owner-supplied context is refused, a pre-bound ask needs a reset first, closure is Unanswered with the receipt still readable, replaying the set-aside answer into a retry is only retained and never settles on its own.
    • Quorum: quorum 1 or 0 with agreement at or above the configured minimum now settles. Agreement below the minimum, below the signed quorum, or above the panel still fails closed in the one-shot.
    • Step markers: each marker must sit whole in one fragment, and the project's fuzz covers every boundary and cut.
    • Payment caps: a retry quoted above the caller's maximum reverts with no debit, zero allowance and zero contract balance.
    • Gas and size were remeasured. Worst tested callback is 192,286 of 200,000. Runtime is 24,081 bytes with 495 bytes of margin.

Finding #4, reproduced exactly. An Intake that pulls the fee, assigns the id and calls the failure function inside requestWithFailure gets UnknownOrSettled back, the revert is swallowed, the job stays Open and the fee is gone. The new pre-payment refusal test exercises a different shape and does not cover this. It remains a live-compatibility blocker until either the Intake v2 source or verified bytecode shows no callback before return, or one paid pilot request per path shows the callback arriving in a later transaction. The attached proof fails on this code with status Open versus expected Failed.

Owner trust versus enforced protection. Enforced for everyone but the owner: no requester or stranger can discard, expire or retry past a retained NotPassed. Not enforced: the borrowed-conflict route from the prior report's finding #1 still works unchanged, and discardMismatchedReviewReceipt lets the owner set aside a genuine NotPassed by asserting any context that differs in one field. Both are documented and logged, so they are reported as a trust assumption on the owner key, not a bypass.

Unverified live assumptions are unchanged: callback sender and ABI, exact priceOf debit, non-recycled Intake ids, and asynchronous delivery. These are recorded as one info finding with the local evidence for each.

Scratch tests live under test/scratch/, which is gitignored and not submitted.

    • lowFinding #4 remains live: a synchronous Intake callback inside request/requestWithFailure is rejected UnknownOrSettled and burned with the fee; the new pre-payment refusal test does not cover itsrc/imd/HookJobRequester.sol:986

openJob and requestReview still call the Intake before _recordIntakeId / jobs[requestId] / reviewOf[intakeRequestId] are written (lines 311-313 and 393-395).

If the live Intake takes payment, assigns the request id and then invokes the failure (or result) function synchronously inside requestWithFailure, the callback sees job.status == None (or reviewOf == 0) and reverts UnknownOrSettled(id); the Intake's try swallows it, the outer call returns normally, the job is recorded Open with the fee spent and no failure record, and the requester can only expireJob after jobTimeout (7 days; an ask needs owner confirmReviewExpiry).

The remediation in commit 575e8a8 added MockIntake.setRefusal, which reverts BEFORE taking payment, so the whole ask rolls back; that is a different shape and does not exercise this path. IMD_INTEGRATION.md now states 'A synchronous callback during payment is unsupported', so the project treats it as an unverified live-protocol assumption rather than a code fix.

Status: this remains a live-compatibility blocker until resolved by evidence, not a material code blocker in the local model.

Evidence that would resolve it: (a) the Intake v2 source or verified bytecode on the launch chain showing request/requestWithFailure never calls the callback target before returning, or (b) one paid pilot request on each path (requestWithFailure and request) where the failure/result function is observed in a later transaction and the job/ask records Failed/Unanswered.

Minimal fix preserving the design, if the pilot shows synchronous delivery: set a transient 'asking' marker in _ask, let onJobFailure/onJobResult/onReviewFailure accept a callback for an unknown id while the marker is set by buffering (id, status, reason/resultHash) in storage, and apply the buffered notice to the returned requestId after the Intake call returns (reverting if the ids differ).

      test/scratch/SyncCallbackProof.t.sol (self-contained).

Intake whose requestWithFailure pulls amount, assigns id R, and calls onJobFailure(R, 1, 'refused', 0, 0, '') on the callback target inside a low-level call before returning. creator.openJob(keccak256('spec'), 'my hook', 0.5e18).

Expected: getJob(R).status == Failed (3) with reason 'refused', or the transaction reverts and the creator keeps 0.5 IMD.

Actual (forge test --match-path test/scratch/SyncCallbackProof.t.sol): the inner call fails with selector UnknownOrSettled(R), openJob returns R, getJob(R).status == Open (1), creator balance fell by 0.5 IMD.

Test fails with 'synchronous refusal was burned: job stays Open with the fee spent and no failure record: 1 != 3'.

    • lowOwner can still void a genuine, exactly-matching NotPassed receipt and unlock a paid retry: the borrowed-conflict route from report 648ba2e5 finding #1 is unchanged, and the new discardMismatchedReviesrc/imd/HookJobRequester.sol:558

Enforced protections hold for everyone except the owner: a requester or stranger calling discardReviewReceipt or discardMismatchedReviewReceipt reverts NotOwner; a retained NotPassed blocks expireReview, confirmReviewExpiry and requestReview; a receipt matching the owner-supplied context reverts ReviewReceiptMatches in both discard functions; replaying the set-aside attestation into a retry is only retained, never settles, unless the owner binds the retry to the receipt's own context.

What is NOT enforced: (1) the same-UUID conflict guard at line 558 still counts a reservation that resetReviewBinding can remove, so the 'borrowed conflict' route (bind unrelated ask B to the receipt's UUID X, discard A as 'receipt UUID conflict', reset B) still discards a genuine matching NotPassed with no onchain inconsistency left behind; the docs' claim that incorrect fields or a typo alone 'never justify' discard is not a code property.

      (2) discardMismatchedReviewReceipt accepts any well-formed owner context that differs in a single field (e.g. toBlock 3 instead of 2); no proof of the true context is checked, so one owner call sets aside a genuine NotPassed and the requester may buy a retry. Both are explicitly documented in IMD_INTEGRATION.md as owner trust powers and are logged (ReviewReceiptDiscarded carries the owner's asserted context; the receipt stays readable with its verdict).

This is therefore a trust assumption on the owner key, not a permission bypass; recorded so the Passed/NotPassed badge is understood to be only as trustworthy as that key. Optional consistency fix keeping the reset feature: in the same-UUID branch of discardReviewReceipt count only permanent conflicts (consumed[oracleRequestId]), and have resetReviewBinding/releaseReservation refuse a reservation that served as conflict evidence.

      test/scratch/Probe.t.sol (HookJobRequesterFixture).

      Route A, testOwnerFabricatedContextDiscardsGenuineNotPassedAndUnlocksRetry: unbound ask A for job J; Intake delivers valid attestation (UUID X, true question Q, chain 31337, blocks 1..2, answer false) -> retained, review Pending. creator/stranger discardMismatchedReviewReceipt -> NotOwner. owner with true context (Q,31337,1,2) -> ReviewReceiptMatches(A). owner with (Q,31337,1,3) -> succeeds: getJob(J).review == Unanswered, consumed[X] == false, intakeReviewOfOracle[X] == 0, getReviewReceipt(A).passed == false still readable; creator.requestReview(J, 0.5e18) succeeds (Pending).

Replaying the same signed answer into the retry is retained only; owner bindReview(retry, X, Q, 31337, 1, 2) then finalizes NotPassed and consumes X.

      Route B, testBorrowedConflictRouteStillOpen: same retained A; second user's unbound ask B; owner bindReview(B, bodyB, X, Q, 31337, 1, 2); discardReviewReceipt(A, bodyA, X, Q, 31337, 1, 2) succeeds (expected per docs: ReviewReceiptMatches); resetReviewBinding(B) leaves intakeReviewOfOracle[X] == 0 and consumed[X] == false; review of J is Unanswered.

Both tests pass on this commit, demonstrating the routes.

    • infoRemediations verified: same-UUID context-mismatch recovery, corrected quorum check and per-fragment step-marker validation behave as documented; regression suite 240/240src/imd/HookJobRequester.sol:720

Verified on commit 575e8a8 (forge test: 25 suites, 240 passed, 0 failed, including FeaturedInvariant and FeaturedTransferInvariant listing/ad escrow invariants and the RequesterMvpPaymentTest exact-spend fuzz).

Quorum: an attestation with quorum 1 (or 0) and agreed >= minAgreed now settles; agreed below minAgreed, below the signed quorum, or above panelSize still reverts PanelTooWeak inside the one-shot.

Context mismatch: a pre-bound ask whose receipt carries its UUID but another question reverts ReviewAlreadyBound until resetReviewBinding, then closes Unanswered with history retained; expireReview on the closed job reverts UnknownOrSettled; the retry under its own true binding retains the replayed old answer without settling.

Step markers: each marker must be whole in one fragment; the fuzz in AuditContextMismatchProof.t.sol covers every boundary and cut.

Payment caps: a retry quoted above userMaxPrice reverts PriceAboveUserMaximum with no debit, zero allowance and zero contract balance. No defect found in the changed code; the only residual observation is that the signed quorum may now be 0 and is accepted, which is intended since agreed >= minAgreed bounds strength.

test/scratch/Probe.t.sol testQuorumZeroAcceptedAndMinAgreedStillEnforced: bound ask, attestation panelSize 5, quorum 0, agreed 4, answer true -> intake.complete returns true, review Passed; attestation panelSize 7, quorum 0, agreed 3 -> onReviewResult reverts PanelTooWeak(7,0,3). testPreboundMismatchNeedsResetFirst and testRetryPaymentAccounting as described. Expected == actual in every case.

    • infoRemeasured one-shot callback gas (worst 192,286 of 200,000) and runtime size (24,081 bytes, 495 under the limit): thin margins, production signer not modelledsrc/imd/HookJobRequester.sol:732

forge test --match-path test/ReviewReceiptGas.t.sol -vv at this commit: cold EOA receipt 124,984; 5-of-7 ERC-1271 receipt 170,077 (same after an expiry request and with a reserved retry UUID); 5-of-7 bound 132,553; 22-cold-read registry receipt 187,231 and bound 149,726; mismatched pre-binding 175,123 (5-of-7) and 192,286 (22-read). These are about 300 gas below the previous audit's numbers, matching the removed comparison.

Headroom on the heaviest tested path is 7,714 gas. forge build --sizes: HookJobRequester runtime 24,081 bytes, margin 495 bytes (FeaturedPlacements 8,232; HookListingRegistry 9,035). Both claims hold locally and rest on pilot-only assumptions: the stipend is exactly 200,000 forwarded in full; the production signer verifies in under roughly 67k cold with signatures no larger than the fixture's.

A signer costing more than about 7.7k above the 22-read fixture on the mismatched pre-binding path loses the one-shot answer with no receipt, no verdict and no refund. Not a code defect; a signer qualification item, and any future addition to this contract must fit in 495 bytes or the deployment fails EIP-170.

Failing input for the gas budget (existing test testOverBudgetSignerStillFailsClosedAndLosesSingleAttemptWithoutPartialReceipt): oracleSigner = ColdReadReceiptSigner(signer, 64) on a mismatched pre-binding ask -> intake.complete returns false, getReviewReceipt(ask).oracleRequestId == 0, review stays Pending, fee spent. Size: forge build --sizes prints Runtime Margin 495 for HookJobRequester; adding more than 495 bytes of runtime code makes deployment exceed 24,576 bytes.

    • infoUnverified live-protocol assumptions unchanged since report 648ba2e5: callback sender and ABI, exact priceOf debit, non-recycled Intake ids, asynchronous deliverysrc/imd/HookJobRequester.sol:288

Nothing in commit 575e8a8 changes these, and none can be verified locally (MockIntake satisfies them by construction). (1) All callbacks require msg.sender == intake and the exact selectors onJobResult(bytes32,bytes), onReviewResult(bytes32,Attestation,bytes) and the failure shape; a dispatcher/executor address or other encoding reverts inside the Intake's try, fees spent, jobs Open until local expiry.

      (2) InexactIntakeSpend (line 991) requires the Intake to debit exactly priceOf in the same call; any rounding/fee split makes both paid entry points revert for every caller until setIntake/redeploy. (3) _recordIntakeId refuses a reused id, so deterministic or recycled ids for a byte-identical retry body make every review retry revert DuplicateRequestId (fee not lost). (4) Asynchronous delivery, see the finding on line 986.

Pilot items: one paid request per path confirming sender, ABI, exact debit and a fresh id, before any wallet approves funds.

      Material code blockers: none found.

Documented owner powers: bindReview/resetReviewBinding/discardReviewReceipt/discardMismatchedReviewReceipt/confirmReviewExpiry/releaseReservation/revokeSignerEpoch/closeRevokedReviewReceipt/setIntake/setPayment/sweep, all onlyOwner behind two-step ownership.

Local evidence only: test/HookJobRequester.t.sol testResultAcceptedOnceFromIntakeOnly (non-intake sender -> NotTheIntake, job stays Open); MockIntake.complete(id, hex'deadbeef') -> false and job expires after the deadline (testCallbackWithUnexpectedAbiFailsSafeAndJobCanExpire); intake.setUnspent(1) -> openJob and requestReview revert InexactIntakeSpend with balances unchanged (RequesterMvpPaymentTest); intake.setReuseIds(true) after an Unanswered ask -> requestReview reverts DuplicateRequestId.

Expected on a live chain: Delivered/Passed with a fresh id and an exact debit.

Actual live behaviour is not known from this repository.

  6. Audit judgeAgent #527found 2 low, 6 info

The review is complete and .imd-findings.json holds eight substantiated findings (2 low, 6 info). No repository file was changed; the tree shows clean apart from the untracked findings file and my scratch tests.

What I verified against commit 575e8a8

    • Finding #4 still reproduces and is the only open item of substance. All four specialist proofs fail on this commit for the stated reason: an Intake that debits, assigns id R and calls back inside requestWithFailure hits UnknownOrSettled(R), the revert is swallowed, and the job is recorded Open with the fee spent and no failure record. The v1 request path loses a synchronous result the same way. The new setRefusal test reverts before payment, so it does not reach this path. I kept it as low: an unverified live-protocol assumption that stays a live-compatibility blocker until the Intake v2 source or one paid pilot trace shows callbacks only in a later transaction. One proof is attached.
    • Owner trust is clearly separated from enforcement. My probe confirms every enforced guard: non-owners get NotOwner, a retained receipt blocks expiry, confirm and re-ask, the true context reverts ReviewReceiptMatches, a stale replay reverts AttestationPredatesAsk, consumed UUIDs are refused. What is not enforced is the authenticity of the owner's context: one call with a fabricated question sets aside a genuine NotPassed, the retry can be re-bound to the same UUID and settled. The borrowed-conflict route from the prior report also still reproduces unchanged. Both are documented owner powers, so they are reported as trust assumptions with a wording fix for README and the remediation note, which currently read as an enforced protection.
    • Remediations work. Same-UUID mismatch now closes after a reset, straddling step markers are refused, the original quorum repro settles, payment caps and exact accounting hold, replay is refused, and escrow invariants pass. Full suite: 240 passed, 0 failed.

    • lowReport 648ba2e5 finding #4 still reproduces: a post-payment callback delivered inside request/requestWithFailure is rejected UnknownOrSettled and burned with the fee; the new pre-payment refusal test src/imd/HookJobRequester.sol:986

    • lowOwner trust, not an enforced boundary: discardMismatchedReviewReceipt compares the receipt only with owner-supplied context, so one call with a fabricated question/chain/window sets aside a genuine Nosrc/imd/HookJobRequester.sol:610

      HookJobRequesterFixture (minPanelSize 5, minAgreed 4).

Delivered job J; creator requestReview -> unbound ask A.

Intake delivers a valid attestation (UUID X, questionHash Q, chainId 31337, window 1..2, answer false) -> retained, getJob(J).review == Pending. creator and stranger: discardMismatchedReviewReceipt / discardReviewReceipt -> NotOwner.

      Owner: discardMismatchedReviewReceipt(A, keccak256(bodyOf(A)), reviewReceiptHash(A), Q, 31337, 1, 2) -> ReviewReceiptMatches(A).

Owner: same call with keccak256('owner asserts other question') -> succeeds.

Expected per README wording: the genuine NotPassed cannot be set aside.

      Actual: getJob(J).review == Unanswered, consumed[X] == false, intakeReviewOfOracle[X] == 0, getReviewReceipt(A).passed == false still readable, discardedReviewReceipts[A] == true; creator.requestReview(J, 0.5e18) succeeds (Pending).

Fresh-signed (X, Q, false) delivered to the unbound retry is retained; owner bindReview(retry, bodyR, X, Q, 31337, 1, 2) finalizes NotPassed and consumes X. test/scratch/JudgeProbe.t.sol testFabricatedContextDiscardsGenuineNotPassedAndRetryReplay passes on this commit, demonstrating each step.

    • infoReport 648ba2e5 finding #1 route 3 (borrowed, resettable UUID conflict in discardReviewReceipt) is unchanged and still reproduces; now dominated by discardMismatchedReviewReceiptsrc/imd/HookJobRequester.sol:558

Ask A (creator) retains a genuine NotPassed with UUID X, question Q.

      Second user's unbound ask B.

      Owner: bindReview(B, bodyB, X, Q, 31337, 1, 2); discardReviewReceipt(A, bodyA, X, Q, 31337, 1, 2).

Expected per the documented guard: revert ReviewReceiptMatches(A).

Actual: succeeds with reason 'receipt UUID conflict'; owner resetReviewBinding(B, bodyB) leaves intakeReviewOfOracle[X] == 0 and consumed[X] == false; getJob(jobA).review == Unanswered; creator requestReview(jobA, 0.5e18) opens a new Pending ask.

    • infoRemediation note overstates coverage: 'compatible with both refusal shapes' omits the synchronous post-payment callback shape of finding #4, which no test exercises and which IMD_INTEGRATION.md labelsdocs/AUDIT_648BA2E5.md:30

    • infoRelaxed panel check accepts a signed quorum of 0 and a minority share: agreed is compared with minAgreed as an absolute count, so 4-of-100 with quorum 0 settles as Passedsrc/imd/HookJobRequester.sol:720

      Attestation panelSize 100, quorum 0, agreed 4, answer true, validly signed -> intake.complete returns true, getJob(J).review == Passed, reviewPanelSize 100, reviewAgreed 4.

Expected if 'panel agreed' means a majority: PanelTooWeak; actual: settled.

Second bound ask: panelSize 5, quorum 3, agreed 5, answer false -> NotPassed (previous finding #3 input now accepted).

    • infoRemediations verified on 575e8a8: same-UUID context-mismatch recovery, corrected quorum check and per-fragment step-marker validation behave as documented; payment caps, exact accounting, replay and lsrc/imd/HookJobRequester.sol:605

From audit_economics 9ff12b9e, re-verified. forge test at this commit: 25 suites, 240 passed, 0 failed, including FeaturedInvariant and FeaturedTransferInvariant (listing/ad escrow, 256 runs each, 0 reverts) and RequesterMvpPaymentTest.

Context mismatch (previous #2): a pre-bound ask whose receipt carries its UUID but another question reverts ReviewAlreadyBound from discardMismatchedReviewReceipt until resetReviewBinding, then closes Unanswered with the receipt retained; expireReview on the closed job reverts UnknownOrSettled; a late onReviewResult/onReviewFailure on the terminal id reverts UnknownOrSettled. Quorum (previous #3): see the quorum finding.

Step markers (previous #5): a marker straddling prefix/middle or middle/suffix now reverts TemplateMissingStep; a marker whole in any fragment, including the suffix alone, is accepted.

Payment: a retry quoted above maxPrice reverts PriceAboveCeiling and above userMaxPrice reverts PriceAboveUserMaximum with no debit, zero standing allowance and zero contract balance; a lower quote pulls exactly that quote.

    • infoRemeasured one-shot callback gas (worst tested path 192,286 of 200,000) and runtime size (24,081 bytes, 495 under EIP-170): both hold locally, production signer not modelledsrc/imd/HookJobRequester.sol:732

      From audit_economics d7fa7018 (also audit_permissions), re-run. forge test --match-path test/ReviewReceiptGas.t.sol -vv at this commit: cold EOA receipt 124,984; 5-of-7 ERC-1271 receipt 170,077 (same after an expiry request and with a reserved retry UUID); 5-of-7 bound 132,553; 22-cold-read registry receipt 187,231 and bound 149,726; mismatched pre-binding 175,123 (5-of-7) and 192,286 (22-read).

    • infoUnverified live-protocol assumptions unchanged since report 648ba2e5: callback sender and ABI, exact priceOf debit, non-recycled Intake ids, asynchronous delivery; documented owner powers listed separsrc/imd/HookJobRequester.sol:288
