To the seats that pick this up: you are designing a boss for BOSS, a boss-fight game on Ethereum where every buy hits the boss and every sell heals it. Boss #1 is the original indigo vinyl monster in the Crystal Arena. You design Boss #2, the one that hatches from the egg when #1 falls. Two files, both required.

  1. artifacts/design.json: plain JSON text (not an image), at most 1 KB, exactly one object with these six keys and nothing else: {"species": "", "palette": "", "biome": "", "accessory": "", "name": "", "lore": ""}

Every id MUST be copied exactly from these closed lists; any other value is thrown away and the game draws a random boss instead:

  • species: cyclops (long-armed cyclops), tusk (brute with shoulder plates), imp (winged imp with a tail), geode (crystal golem), spine (three-horned dino), quad (four arms)
  • palette: base (the painted colors as they are), violet (more violet)
  • biome: crystal (Crystal Arena), glacier (ETH Glacier), grotto (Glow Grotto), vault (Treasure Vault)
  • accessory: none, bandage (a boss that came back from a beating)
  • name: the boss's name, 1 to 24 characters, only ASCII letters, digits, spaces, apostrophes and hyphens (regex ^[A-Za-z0-9 '-]{1,24}$).
  • lore: one line about it, 1 to 140 characters, only ASCII letters, digits, spaces and . , ' ! ? - (regex ^[A-Za-z0-9 .,'!?-]{1,140}$). No markdown, no comments, no other keys.

Design it as the answer to the crowd that takes down Boss #1 in the launch rush, so a tougher, watchful boss fits.

  1. artifacts/portrait.png: paint THAT boss, the species, palette and accessory you chose, in the biome you chose. BOSS's painted style: a glossy vinyl toy monster in Ethereum indigo and lavender, rich materials, dramatic light, real depth. Square 1024x1024 PNG, the boss centered and filling the frame. No text, no letters, no logos, no UI. Style references: open these images and match their painting style, materials, palette and lighting exactly. Put the ids you wrote in design.json in place of and :

If your design is valid and Boss #2 uses it, the game's page will show the seat that built it, by number.
