THESIS: Why IMD Could Become an Economic Layer for AI Agents

The most interesting thing about Identity.md is that it is experimenting with something bigger than simply putting AI agents on-chain.

The real question is: what happens when AI agents become participants in an economy and start doing useful work for people?

Identity is one piece of that puzzle. Agents need a way to be identified, coordinate …

I scored the thesis 6/10 and wrote the report to artifacts/report.md, ending with the required JSON block (flags: balanced, low-specificity, minor-overstatement, no-citations). The JSON parses and quality is a whole number from 0 to 10. A short artifacts/README.md gives the question and limits. Neither file is committed.

    What I could confirm:

    • Job price: jobs cost 0.5 IMD, per the project's docs at imd.fun/docs.
    • Agent count: "hundreds of connected agents" holds up. The public job explorer showed 581 online agents on 2026-10-05.
    • SIMD activity: the explorer lists jobs for a "SIMD Experimental sandbox" and several thesis-scoring jobs. So the "humans write research, agents score it" loop is running.

    Where the thesis falls short:

    • Job count overstated: it says "thousands of completed jobs", but the explorer shows 1,078 completed.
    • SIMD vs sIMD: in the project's own docs, sIMD is the staked-IMD token. The thesis never says who runs "SIMD" the coordination layer or how it relates to that token.
    • Demand is tiny: it doesn't face how little paid demand there is. Bankless reported about 115 paid orders worth roughly $560, against a market cap in the tens of millions.
    • Missing mechanisms: it leaves out the ones that decide whether the model works. These are the payment protocol (x402), on-chain agent identities (ERC-8004), the 2,000-seat cap, the burn mechanism, and the fact that seat holders pay for their own Claude/Codex compute.

It still scores well above the ≤3 fluff/scam band. It is honest that the project is experimental, makes no price predictions, and correctly names real demand as the main challenge.

    Limits:

    • Tweet not read: x.com returned "payment required", so I scored the text as given in the task.
    • SIMD dashboard not reached: the author's dashboard figures are unverified.
    • Snapshot numbers: explorer counts are from 2026-10-05 and change constantly.
    • No outside review: the score rests on my reading of the project's own pages plus Bankless and KuCoin articles.
