Requirements:

  • The NFT's traits and visual style must dynamically change based on real Squeekchain data.
  • Read data from https://api.squeekchain.com/v1/status or the SqueekCore contract 0x74665dAecA35A2303e767E76a2FF1FB6F93e119f.
  • Key data to use: hamster speed (rpm), spinning/idle status, block progress.
  • When the hamster is spinning fast → NFT shows energetic/active style.
  • When idle → NFT shows sleeping/resting style.
  • Also build a public mint website:
    • Wallet connect
    • Free mint (1 per wallet)
    • Gallery showing minted NFTs with live updating traits
    • Display current hamster status on the page
  • Deploy the contract on Sepolia and provide the live frontend link after completion.
  • Keep the contract simple and reliable so it actually works.

The visual idea is a hamster companion switching between a sunny active wheel and a moonlit resting wheel.

Checked Chromium and WebKit at phone and desktop widths. No transactions were signed. WebKit’s live requests failed in this environment; controlled responses verified its status states. Source files remain unchanged.

    • mediumbug: the configured share-card image is missingindex.html:13

Now: The page advertises a 1200×630 share image at ./og.png, but neither public/ nor dist/ contains that asset.

Change to: Export a 1200×630 image using the existing companion artwork to public/og.png so the existing metadata resolves.

Why: This public mint site needs a working preview when its link is shared; metadata pointing to a missing file cannot supply one.

At 390px or 1440px, load the exported site and resolve meta[property="og:image"] against its URL.

Request /og.png: the static server returns HTTP 404.

Expected: HTTP 200 with a decodable 1200×630 image.

The source metadata exists, but rg --files public dist lists only favicon.svg and built JS/CSS/HTML, with no og.png.

    • mediumaccessibility: keyboard focus escapes the modal wallet choosersrc/wallet/ConnectSheet.tsx:27

Now: Opening the aria-modal wallet chooser focuses Close, but Tab and Shift+Tab can move to the obscured page behind it.

Change to: Contain Tab and Shift+Tab within the existing sheet while open and make the underlying page inert; retain Escape dismissal and return focus to Connect when it closes.

Why: A modal wallet choice must keep keyboard users on its visible controls rather than allowing hidden background links to receive focus.

Chromium, 390×844: load the page without a wallet, activate Connect, then press Tab three times.

Observed focus sequence: Close → Browser wallet → Coinbase Wallet → Collection contract (outside [role=dialog]) while the sheet remains visible.

Expected: the next Tab returns to Close.

Shift+Tab from Close also leaves the dialog.

No wallet connection or signing is required.

    • mediumbug: a failed RPC check is reported as an undeployed collectionsrc/App.tsx:64

Now: A failed bytecode request sets deployed=false, the same state as a successful empty-code response, so the gallery reports that deployment is still needed. The mint panel also selects its deployment branch from this value.

Change to: Preserve a separate verification-error state. On read failure show “Could not check the collection on Sepolia. Retrying…” and reserve the not-deployed state and deployment control for a successful response containing no bytecode.

Why: A failed read does not establish that the contract is absent; loading and error states must say only what the application knows.

Chromium, 390×844: intercept POST requests to https://ethereum-sepolia-rpc.publicnode.com and return HTTP 503 while leaving the status API available; reload and wait 17 seconds for retries.

Actual gallery message: “The gallery fills up once the collection is deployed and the first companion is minted.” Recorded eth_getCode requests all failed, so no successful empty-code response justified that message.

Expected: an RPC/check error with retry feedback, without claiming the collection is undeployed.

      No wallet is needed.

    • mediumbug: an expired wheel reading keeps the live companion zoomingsrc/squeek.ts:71

Now: Freshness is calculated only when parseStatus receives a successful response. If later polls fail, the saved status retains stale=false indefinitely; the primary mood and live preview remain Zooming even after the sensor’s 120-second freshness limit has elapsed. A small note says it is the last reading, but the active style still presents that expired reading as the current state.

Change to: Recalculate the saved reading’s age on every polling tick, including failures. Once observedAt exceeds staleAfterSeconds, mark the reading stale and use the existing resting/offline presentation while retaining the last values and error note.

Why: The brief requires the visual state to follow real hamster data, and the interface already defines a freshness limit that must continue to apply during an outage.

Chromium, 390×844: before navigation install the Playwright clock.

Intercept the status URL: return one schema-valid response with freshness="online", observedAt=now, staleAfterSeconds=120, coreStatus="SPINNING", rpmMilli=60000, then return HTTP 503 for subsequent polls.

Confirm the first display says Zooming/60 rpm.

Advance the browser clock 125,000 ms and await the failed poll.

Actual: the status pill still says Zooming, Wheel says Spinning, and image alt remains “Live preview: the companion is zooming”; only the footer note reports HTTP 503.

Expected: the expired reading is explicitly stale and no longer drives a current active preview.

    • mediumbug: failed NFT metadata reads remain labelled as loadingsrc/Gallery.tsx:81

Now: The gallery checks only the aggregate query’s isError flag. useReadContracts can complete successfully while an individual tokenURI result has status="failure", so a failed token remains a blank square labelled “Reading traits…”.

Change to: Inspect reads.data[i * 2].status/error for each token and use the existing “Could not read this token. Retrying in 30 seconds.” message when that result fails; reserve “Reading traits…” for a pending result.

Why: A failed metadata read must have a truthful failure/retry state, and the brief makes live NFT traits a primary gallery function.

Chromium, 390×844: intercept the configured Sepolia RPC, return nonempty bytecode for eth_getCode and ABI-encoded totalSupply=1.

For the gallery aggregate3 request return success=false/returnData=0x for tokenURI(1) and a successful ownerOf(1).

After 17 seconds, the gallery says “1 minted”, shows Companion #1 with a blank placeholder, and still says “Reading traits…” despite the completed failed result.

Expected: the existing token-read failure/retry message.

The same occurs again on the next 30-second refresh if tokenURI continues failing; no wallet or signature is needed.

    • mediumtaste: the hero headline omits the unfamiliar mint actionsrc/App.tsx:90

Now: The headline describes the companion’s behavior without saying what the visitor can do; “Mint” first appears in the supporting copy, which is split into two sentences.

Change to: Use “Mint a hamster that wakes” as the headline and “A free Sepolia NFT that zooms with the real Squeekchain wheel and sleeps when it stops.” as its single supporting sentence. Keep the existing headline styling, Connect control and gas explanation; let the shorter supporting copy reduce the hero’s height naturally.

Why: The review bar requires an unfamiliar main action to be named plainly in the headline and a hero pair with one plain explanatory sentence.

At 390×844, load the first screen without connecting a wallet.

The h1 at y=76–150.8px reads exactly “A hamster that wakes onchain” (six words, no mint action).

The supporting paragraph contains two sentences: “Mint a free companion on Sepolia.” and “It zooms when the real Squeekchain hamster runs and sleeps when the wheel stops.” Expected: a headline that names minting and a single explanatory sentence.

The product and Connect control are already visible, so this is a medium copy/taste finding, not a first-screen failure.
