    Review: Wheelwatch (Squeekchain community dashboard)

The site meets every requirement in the brief and has no broken features. I found two medium issues: large numbers and their units split across lines, and the copy uses slogans where a dashboard needs plain labels. Neither is high. Both are written up in .imd-findings.json, and no repository files were changed.

    Not checked:

    • Live data: api.squeekchain.com answers this machine with a Cloudflare challenge (HTTP 403, cf-mitigated: challenge). So I couldn't see real figures, and the probe's screenshots show the "Unavailable" state. I rendered the built site in Chromium with API responses I wrote myself, in the shapes the site's own parsers expect, to check the loaded layout at 320, 390 and 1440. The number magnitudes I used are my own; their real size is unknown.
    • WebKit (Safari): it could not be installed because this machine lacks system libraries, so only Chromium was tested.

    Requirements

    1. "live block height": met. The Block height card, read from /v1/status builder.anchor.blockHeight (src/App.tsx:382).
    2. "cumulative work": met. The Cumulative work card (src/App.tsx:389).
    3. "distance (km)": met. distanceMm divided by 1,000,000, shown in km, labelled "Latest wheel measurement" (src/App.tsx:400).
    4. "network status": met. The telemetry status dot and text in the toolbar, plus the Network health panel listing telemetry, oracle and queue states (src/App.tsx:523).
    5. "live SQK supply": met. The Live SQK supply card uses whole-number arithmetic, avoiding rounding errors, and shows the share of the cap (src/api.ts units).
    6. "a table of recent settlements": met. table.settlements-table (src/App.tsx around line 615). On a phone each row stacks into a card, and each row opens to show its hash and an Etherscan link.
    7. "auto-refresh about every 60 seconds": met. A 60,000 ms interval with a countdown and Pause / Refresh data buttons (src/useDashboard.ts).
    8. "dark theme": met (src/styles.css tokens; the page background is #111311).
    9. "short README stating it is a community project for the Squeekchain Buildooooor badge": met (README.md, first paragraph).
    10. "responsive layout": met. No horizontal scroll at 320, 390 or 1440, though finding 1 applies.
    11. No wallet connect, keys, tokens or contracts; English copy: met.
    12. "IPFS/ENS website suitable for Genesis IMD import": after review. The site uses relative paths (base: './'), and its export is in dist/.
    13. Submission at squeekchain.com/genesis/code and team approval: after review / needs the requester.

The idea in one sentence: a quiet dark instrument panel for a hamster-powered chain, with one golden wheel as the only decoration. Nothing competes with it, so there is nothing to cut.

    Findings

    1. Medium. bug: live figures and their units break mid-number or mid-word (src/styles.css:404, overflow-wrap: anywhere on .metric-value).
      • At 320: "987,654,321" with ",098" on the next line, and "12,345,678." with "90" below it.
      • At 390: "987,654,321,09" then "8 units". The activity total shows "98,765,4" then "32".
      • At 1440: the unit splits into "u" and "nits", which makes that card 35px taller than the others.
      • Fix: in .metric-value and .activity-totals strong, replace overflow-wrap: anywhere with white-space: nowrap. If a value still doesn't fit on a phone, step it down to the existing heading size or move the unit to its own line.
    2. Medium. copy: slogans where a dashboard needs plain labels (src/App.tsx:523).
      • Panel heading: "B

    • mediumbug: live figures and their units break mid-number or mid-word at 320, 390 and 1440 (overflow-wrap: anywhere on .metric-value)src/styles.css:404

      Now: .metric-value sets overflow-wrap:anywhere inside a two-column metric grid (~119px value column at 320, ~144px at 390), so a long figure is split between two digits: "987,654,321 / ,098" and "12,345,678. / 90" at 320, and "987,654,321,09 / 8 units" at 390. The activity total under Settlement activity also splits ("98,765,4 / 32 work units" at 390).

Change to: in .metric-value replace overflow-wrap: anywhere; with overflow-wrap: normal; white-space: nowrap; and let the value step down only through the existing scale (font-size: var(--text-heading) inside @media (max-width: 57rem)), or put .metric-unit on its own line (display:block) so the number has the full column. Apply the same nowrap to .activity-totals strong.

Why: an amount is critical text and must stay whole; a supply read as "12,345,678." plus a stray "90" on the next line is misread, and the brief asks for a responsive layout showing cumulative work and live SQK supply.

      Build dist/, serve it, and answer api.squeekchain.com with valid JSON in the parser's own shape (builder.anchor.cumulativeWork "987654321098", supply.liveSupplyBaseUnits "12345678901234567890123456" with decimals 18, summary.workAdded "98765432").

Chromium at 320x844: the Cumulative work card shows "987,654,321" with ",098" on the next line, and Live SQK supply shows "12,345,678." with "90" below it.

At 390x844: "987,654,321,09" then "8 units", and the activity total shows "98,765,4" then "32".

      Measured .metric-value width is 119px at 320 and 143-144px at 390.

Expected: every figure on one line.

No horizontal scroll (scrollWidth equals the width), so this is wrapping and not overflow.

At 1440x900 the same cumulative-work value fits, but its unit splits into "u" at the end of the line and "nits" on the next, which pushes the card 35px taller than its neighbours.

    • mediumtaste/copy: the dashboard carries voice lines where plain labels belong, and 'Behind the blocks' hides the panel's real namesrc/App.tsx:523

Now: the Network health panel's h2 is the slogan "Behind the blocks", and its plain name "Network health" sits beside it as a small muted label. The page also has two more voice lines: "A community window into the hamster-powered chain." under the h1 (App.tsx:310) and "Physical work, recorded onchain." under Settlement activity (App.tsx:429).

Change to: make the h2 read "Network health" and delete the muted span; the heading then stands alone on the left. Replace the h1 sub-line with "Live data from Squeekchain's public API, refreshed every 60 seconds." Delete "Physical work, recorded onchain." so the 24 hours / 7 days control moves up beside the heading.

Why: this is a dashboard, which people read to get a task done. Its headings should name the data in plain words, with no voice line, and the brief's term for this is 'network status'.

Any width, with the API reachable or not.

At 1440 the Network health panel heading reads "Behind the blocks" with "Network health" in small grey text on the right.

At 390 the first screen shows "A community window into the hamster-powered chain." directly under "Network overview.", and the activity panel opens with "Physical work, recorded onchain.".
