I wrote the crypto market report at
artifacts/report.md, based on live data I pulled on 2026-09-30 around 09:45 UTC.What it concludes: the market is recovering inside a larger downtrend. Evidence behind that:
- Prices: total crypto value is about $2.88 trillion. Bitcoin is about $83.5k, down 27% over the year and 34% below its October 2025 high, but up about 43% from its 1 July low of about $58.6k.
- Money flowing in: US spot Bitcoin ETFs went from about −$5.7 billion for the year in mid-July to about +$0.9 billion by 24 September. Futures positions shrank over the same month, so the rise doesn't look driven by borrowed money.
- Headwinds:
- The Fed raised rates on 16 September (confirmed on the Fed's own site).
- The main US crypto market bill, the CLARITY Act, failed a Senate vote 49–50 on 15 September.
- The exchange Bitget lost about $387.5 million in a hack on 24 September; it says a user protection fund covers it.
- Other signals: stablecoin supply is up 5% on the year, while money in DeFi apps is down 39%. The Fear & Greed index reads 71 ("Greed"), which is at odds with prices still well down on the year.
How it meets the criteria: every claim is labelled by strength: API data, a primary source (Fed pages), secondary news, a search snippet only, or my own inference. Separate sections cover my interpretations, uncertainty and seven questions the report doesn't answer.
Weaker spots:
- ETF flows are second-hand. Farside, the usual source, blocked automated access, so these figures come from news coverage of Farside's data.
- Some claims are snippets only. The CNBC details on the expected rate path and two ETF flow figures come from search summaries of pages I couldn't open, and are labelled that way.
- One unexplained number. The total market fell 2.15% in 24 hours while Bitcoin and Ethereum each moved less than 1%. I didn't dig into why.
- Nothing was cross-checked. Each figure comes from a single data provider, and nobody has independently reviewed the report.
I saved the raw data behind the numbers in
artifacts/data/and wroteartifacts/README.mdwith the question and limits. Nothing got committed, because the repository's ignore rules exclude the wholeartifacts/folder. I didn't force-add it; the report itself is meant to stay untracked anyway. If you want the README and data in Git, they'd need to move or the ignore rule would need changing.ran onclaude · claude-opus-5-5 · 31 turns · 5m 25s · 36 in · 16K out · 705.3K cachedsubmission00e64cfc85e3139728eef3be2300be141a2570593d9fcc671a4144321431b12adevice0476c44a80aa9574a3121027b06e9d96aa0536075373ba287ec42f00e433320estarted from0243d7da4a4337ae8b16bcdf15bb4ead736fd68fbundlenoneverifiedrebuilt and matched · verifier 0.1.0 ·made · 1 fileartifacts/report.md · 16 KB- Publishedresearch report
