Build "Race Squeektoshi": a polished, original browser GAME for Squeekchain, the hamster-powered proof-of-work toychain on Sepolia. It must be a game people want to replay, NOT a dashboard or explorer. Static site, no backend, no wallet needed to play.

HOSTING (IPFS): relative asset paths (Vite base './'), hash-based routing only, no server rewrites, works under any gateway subpath. Ship source + production build in dist/.

DATA: public Squeekchain API, read from the browser:

MODE 1 – LIVE RACE (when the wheel is running):

  • Player runs by tapping a key/button in rhythm (SPACE/arrow keys on desktop, big tap button on mobile). Speed comes from tap cadence with a stamina bar, so mashing alone does not win.
  • Opponent is the real hamster: its on-screen pace = live speed from /v1/status, smoothly interpolated between polls.
  • Race lengths: 30 s sprint, 60 s, and 10-minute "full round". Show both distances in meters, live gap, finish screen, personal bests.

MODE 2 – GHOST RACE (always available, default when the wheel is resting):

  • Race against the hamster's recorded performances from measurement stats (typical pace, best recorded day/record), clearly labeled "recorded", never presented as live.
  • Show a sleeping hamster and "Squeektoshi is resting" banner when the wheel is idle, with a live check that switches to Live Race when running resumes.

MODE 3 – ROUND PREDICTOR:

  • Before a 600 s round starts, player predicts the hamster's wheel turns for it (slider + number input, with a hint from the 7-day typical value). Predictions lock when the round starts.
  • Resolve using real data: derive the round's work from the API (inspect which endpoint/field gives per-round work or a cumulative counter at round boundaries). Store pending predictions in localStorage; resolve them on the next visit if the data is available, otherwise mark "could not verify". Document the exact method in README.
  • Scoring: exact band big bonus, tiered points by % error, streaks, last 20 predictions history.

PROGRESSION: local profile in localStorage (all access wrapped in try/catch, game still works if storage is blocked): nickname, bests per mode, total points, prediction streak, 8+ unlockable badges/titles. "Share result" copies a short text for X with the site URL.

LOOK & FEEL: dark dot-matrix/LED pixel style, amber/gold on near-black, original pixel-art hamster with run/idle/sleep animations, wheel spinning at real pace. Fun sound effects with mute toggle (muted by default until first interaction). Smooth 60 fps canvas animation, responsive from 360 px phones to desktop, keyboard and screen-reader friendly controls, no layout shift. Footer: "Fan-made game for Squeekchain. Sepolia testnet; SQK has no monetary value." Use only original art, no Squeekchain logos.

PAGES (hash routes): #/ home with live wheel status and mode select, #/race, #/ghost, #/predict, #/profile, #/how-to-play.

META: title, description, favicon, Open Graph and Twitter large-image card with an original OG image.

ACCEPTANCE: TypeScript strict, production build passes, no console errors, every number on screen comes from the real API or is labeled as recorded/cached, all three modes playable on mobile and desktop, offline state works. README: game rules, scoring, API endpoints and fields used, round-resolution method, how to build and deploy.

    • High — bug: real measurement milestones break the events parser. One valid event without confirmationStatus discards the entire feed. Milestones disappear, and predictions remain pending despite available settlement evidence. Parse measurement and chain events separately, preserving confirmation checks for settlement scoring.
    • Medium — bug: connection notices shift primary controls by 76 px. At 390 × 844, successful loading moves both the race arena and prediction form upward. Keep the status row mounted and update its contents without moving the controls.

Build, 13 rule tests, 12 automated accessibility scans, layout checks, and Chromium/WebKit race flows passed. Three missing clauses below share the events-parser defect.

    • highbug: real measurement milestones make the entire events feed fail parsingsrc/api.ts:45

Now: parseEvents requires source.confirmationStatus on every event. The real /v1/events?limit=20 feed includes measurement.daily_distance_milestone with source.kind="measurement" and no confirmationStatus, so this throws "Missing API text" and DataProvider discards all twenty events. How to play consequently shows "No fresh milestone is available" and the predictor leaves predictions pending even when exact safe evidence exists only in that discarded events feed.

Change to: Parse events by their real source.kind and make chain confirmation optional for measurement events; preserve safe/finalized checks in settlementEvidence. In the existing milestone row, render measurement.daily_distance_milestone using payload.thresholdDistanceMm / 1000 as meters and occurredAt as its date, while retaining supported settlement milestones.

Why: The brief requires reading the real events endpoint for milestones and resolving predictions from available real round evidence. One valid event type must not suppress the rest of the feed.

At 390×844 or 1440×900, load #/how-to-play with the real API and inspect GET https://api.squeekchain.com/v1/events?limit=20.

On 2026-10-31 at 21:50 UTC it returned HTTP 200, status="available", twenty events, and a leading measurement.daily_distance_milestone at 21:48:54.168Z with no source.confirmationStatus.

Pass this response to parseEvents: it throws Error: Missing API text; the UI says "No fresh milestone is available" despite the successful response.

Replay that captured response to reproduce deterministically; chain events in the same response do have confirmationStatus="safe" and should remain usable.

Minimal real-response replay input for parseEvents: {"installationId":"stream-game-sepolia-test-20261025-01","generatedAt":"2026-10-31T21:50:22.192Z","status":"available","events":[{"id":"measurement:stream-game-sepolia-test-20261025-01:hamster-daily-distance-2:measurement.daily_distance_milestone:2026-10-31:1000000","eventVersion":1,"occurredAt":"2026-10-31T21:48:54.168Z","recordedAt":"2026-10-31T21:48:54.484Z","source":{"kind":"measurement","installationId":"stream-game-sepolia-test-20261025-01","receiptCursor":"97339","telemetryId":"01a193ef-e218-7dd4-a7dd-d389c1f03a24","observedAt":"2026-10-31T21:48:54.168Z","receivedAt":"2026-10-31T21:48:54.484Z","policyVersion":"hamster-daily-distance-2","disposition":"accepted"},"type":"measurement.daily_distance_milestone","payload":{"thresholdDistanceMm":"1000000","observedDayDistanceMm":"1004432","utcDate":"2026-10-31"}}]}.

Expected: a parsed milestone event (and no chain-proof eligibility for this event).

      Actual: Error: Missing API text.

In a Chromium replay at 390×844 the rendered track-note read "Latest verified milestone / No fresh milestone is available"; pageerror count was zero because the provider swallows the parse error.

The identical real-response replay also reproduces in WebKit at 390×844, with zero page errors and the same empty milestone text.

Scoring impact with the same captured responses: seed a valid pending prediction for installation stream-game-sepolia-test-20261025-01, round=766, turns=0, startsAt=1793481600000, endsAt=1793482200000, savedAt=1793481599000 in race-squeektoshi.profile.v1 and revisit #/predict at the captured server time 21:50:15.900Z.

The feed contains a safe system.settlement_completed event with previousSettledThroughRound="765", settledThroughRound="766", workAdded="0", but the prediction remains pending.

A second saved prediction for round 767/615 turns resolves correctly to 615 from recentSettlements and awards 525 points, isolating the broken event-evidence path.

    • mediumbug: removing the connection notice shifts the race and prediction controls by 76 pixelssrc/components.tsx:20

Now: FeedNotice disappears from normal document flow as soon as the first fresh status arrives. Both #/race and #/predict place it above their main interaction, so loading, reconnecting, and losing the connection move the entire game/form.

Change to: Keep the existing status row mounted on these routes and update its contents in place: show "Wheel connected" for a fresh successful response and the current offline/retry message on failure. Reserve its measured mobile height of 76px including spacing and its corresponding desktop height, so the arena/form never moves and no empty gap remains.

Why: The brief explicitly requires no layout shift, and the review checklist requires loading, failure and retry states not to move unrelated content. Stable controls avoid jumping away while a visitor aims a tap.

      Chromium, 390×844, fresh browser context.

Open #/race with all five public API requests temporarily held; wait for fonts and the connecting notice to render.

Measure .race-arena.y, then release the requests with successful real responses (fresh status and matching settlement installation).

      Expected: its position remains stable.

Actual: y changes from 254px to 178px, a 76px upward jump without input; the corresponding layout-shift entry has value 0.065226 and hadRecentInput=false.

      Repeat at #/predict: .prediction-form-section moves from y=359px to y=283px (also 76px); layout-shift value 0.054943.

The same component reappears on connection loss and disappears on recovery.

Measurements were isolated after font loading; before/after screenshots confirm both movements.

  4. Build websiteAgent #118815 files changed

Both reported defects were real, and both are fixed. dist/ has been rebuilt from the final source, and my answer to each finding is in .imd-responses.json.

    1. The events feed failed on real milestones (high). This happened exactly as reported. The live feed's daily distance milestone has no confirmationStatus, so the parser threw and all twenty events were thrown away.

    • Parser (src/api.ts): events are now read by source.kind. Chain events still must have a confirmation status; measurement events don't. A single bad event is now skipped on its own instead of sinking the whole feed.
    • Prediction scoring (src/predictor.ts): only safe or finalized chain settlement events count as evidence, so measurement events can never resolve a prediction.
    • How to play (src/HowToPlay.tsx): the milestone row shows whichever supported event is newest. Your captured replay now shows "1,000 m in one day · Daily distance milestone · Oct 31 UTC"; with the live API it showed "Round #769 settled · 495 turns added".
    • Tests: I added two using a trimmed copy of the real response (tests/fixtures/events-measurement.json). One checks the milestone parses while safe settlements stay usable. The other checks that a pending round-766 prediction of 0 turns now resolves from the events feed alone.

    2. The race and prediction controls jumped 76px (medium). This also happened. The connection notice is now always shown and only its text changes: "Checking the wheel", "Wheel connected" (with a "Check now" button) or the offline message (with "Retry feed"). Its height is fixed at 60px on phones and 64px on desktop. I replayed your scenario in Chromium: holding the API, releasing it to the live API, then cutting the connection. The race area stayed at y=254px (390 wide) and 334px (1440 wide), and the prediction form stayed at 359px and 334px through all three states.

    Checks run:

    • Typecheck: passed.
    • Tests: 15 of 15 passed.
    • Production build: passed.
    • The project's full browser check: all passed. This covers all six pages at four widths, accessibility scans, offline play, the live race and the predictor.
    • Export check: passed, at 472 KB.
    • Design probe: 16 of 16 passed, and the 390-wide first screen is unchanged.

    Limitations and other changes:

    • WebKit isn't installed on this machine, so every browser check ran in Chromium only.
    • The README used to link to artifacts/validation.md, but that file wasn't in the tree. This machine's git settings exclude the artifacts/ folder, so it may never have been committed. I put the actual command results in the README's validation section and also wrote artifacts/validation.md.
    • I updated the FeedNotice entry in DESIGN.md to match the new behaviour.
    • Nothing is committed.

Not delivered: artifacts/export-manifest.json, artifacts/validation.md. Under artifacts/, only this step's named outputs leave the machine.

Both previous findings are fixed at their original reproduction widths, confirmed in Chromium and WebKit:

    • Measurement milestones render correctly. Round 766 resolves from safe event evidence alone to 0 turns and 525 points.
    • The connection notice remains mounted. At 390px, the race arena stays at y=254px and prediction form at y=359px through loading, success, failure and recovery.

One residual defect is recorded in .imd-findings.json.

Medium — bug: round-schedule text still shifts prediction controls on narrow phones

At 360×844, hold the initial API requests on #/predict, wait for fonts, then release successful responses. The schedule banner shrinks 85→67px, moving the number input y=518→500px and submit button y=757→739px. At 320px, they move 42px. Connection loss reverses the movement.

Reserve the banner’s measured maximum height: 85px at 360–389px; 109px below 360px, preserving current 390px/desktop sizing. Browser-only application of these values kept the controls stationary through all four states. Source: styles.css:216.

Strict TypeScript, production build and all 15 rule tests pass. Rebuilt files match dist/. Chromium checks passed across all routes, including 12 automated accessibility scans; WebKit passed offline racing, keyboard/touch input, pause/resume, finishing and profile persistence.

    • mediumbug: round-schedule text still shifts prediction controls on narrow phonessrc/styles.css:216

Now: The revised FeedNotice stays mounted and its original 76px jump is fixed. Inside the prediction form, however, .round-banner still changes height when the waiting text becomes a real schedule. This moves the number field, slider and Save prediction button by 18px at 360px and 42px at 320px.

Change to: Reserve the banner’s maximum state height in the existing phone rules: min-block-size: 85px for widths 360–389px and 109px below 360px; keep the current 390px/desktop sizing. Keep the existing schedule and connection text.

Why: The brief requires no layout shift. Preserving only the outer form position leaves its actual input and submit controls moving when the feed arrives or reconnects.

Chromium, 360×844, fresh context: open #/predict under a nested gateway subpath; intercept and hold the five https://api.squeekchain.com/v1/ requests, wait for document.fonts.ready and the connecting state, then release successful real responses with matching installationId.

The replay used status generatedAt=2026-10-31T22:13:55.056Z and the real settlement schedule, displaying Round #772 / Starts in 06:05.

      Measure getBoundingClientRect() before and after.

Expected: the number input and Save prediction button retain their y positions.

      Actual: .round-banner height 85→67px, #turns-number y 518→500px, submit-button y 757→739px (18px upward).

      At 320×844, banner height 109→67px, input y 542→500px, button y 799→757px (42px upward).

In both cases .feed-notice stays 60px tall and .prediction-form-section stays at y=359px, isolating the remaining shift to the schedule banner.

At 390×844 the corresponding positions remain unchanged.
