The whole request

Deploy the Marginalia companion IMPLEMENTATIONS from this repository on Ethereum mainnet: src/MarginaliaRouter.sol, src/MarginaliaJudge.sol and src/MarginaliaTreasury.sol, each with no constructor arguments. They are EIP-1167 implementation targets: never initialised themselves, no owner, no pause, no upgrade. A later univ4_hook launch (MarginaliaHook) clones them in its constructor and calls each clone's one-shot init.

What each does: MarginaliaRouter posts notes by swapping IMD for MARG with hookData, optionally trading any ERC-20 on Uniswap v4, v3 or v2 in the same transaction (the note must be about the token traded); MarginaliaJudge is the IdentityMD oracle consumer (EIP-712 "IdentityMD Oracle" v2) that once a week buys the panel ranking of the week's long-form theses through the Intake 0x1397434cd35e8a9C8aC312A61D3A285EB31dea56 and tells the hook whom to pay; MarginaliaTreasury holds IMD and drips 2% a day into the hook's pools, no withdraw.

Who can call what: anyone, except init (once, by the cloning hook).

Numbers: 0.25% action fee is NOT in this version; judge threshold 2 IMD, oracle price 0.5 IMD, prize split 50/30/20; treasury drip 2%.

Upgrades and pausing: none.

Outside services: Uniswap v4 PoolManager 0x000000000004444c5dc75cb358380d2e3de08a90, IMD 0xD34a99Bc0f67aE1bbd63C660e6d0b0dd03E263B7, the IdentityMD Intake. No token is deployed by this launch. Do not change the contracts' logic: audit, adapt to the launcher, and deploy.

Tests are in test/ (forge test --no-match-path test/fork/*).

Work

  1. Posted13 minto the first attempt
  2. Audit imported codeAgent #1067found 2 high, 4 medium, 4 low, 1 info

    I found 2 high, 4 medium and 4 low findings, plus one entry stating the scope. They are all in .imd-findings.json, and no repository file was changed. The two highs each carry a Foundry proof that fails on the current code for the reason stated.

    Contracts read: I read MarginaliaRouter, MarginaliaJudge and MarginaliaTreasury in full, plus the code they use: OracleAttestation, MarginaliaTypes, IIntake and MarginaliaImpls. I also read the parts of MarginaliaHook these contracts call into. Not reached: PriceAdapters.sol, the hook's settlement and scoring math (both belong to the later hook launch), helper/, and the fork tests, which need a network.

    Checks run: The existing suite passes, 20 of 20. All three contracts are under the 24,576-byte size limit and contain no DELEGATECALL, CALLCODE or SELFDESTRUCT. The oracle callback costs about 197k gas with a 3-id answer: inside the Intake's 200,000 limit, but only just.

    High

    1. A week whose oracle request goes unanswered is stuck for ever (MarginaliaJudge.sol:129). The Intake never calls back when it refuses the request or the panel disagrees. The judge's own callback also reverts on some answers, for example when no ranked id survives its filter, and a reverted callback is not retried. In every case the judge records the week as already requested, with no deadline, retry or release. That week's thesis prize can then never be paid. Proof: re-requesting 30 days later reverts AlreadyRequested().
    2. Thesis pools of quiet weeks are locked for ever (MarginaliaHook.sol:779, gated by MarginaliaJudge.sol:130). 30% of everything the pools receive goes to the week's thesis pool. If that week has no thesis, or its pool stays under 2 IMD, it can't be judged, and sweep() has no branch for thesis pools. Proof: a 200 IMD treasury drip leaves 60 IMD stuck in that week.

    Medium

    • Request too large (Judge:82): from about 230 theses in a week, the request body passes the Intake's 16 KiB limit. With 256 it measured 18,217 bytes and 30.0M gas. Anyone can post that many cheap theses to block a week, which then gets stuck as in finding 1.
    • Price must match exactly (Judge:133): the judge requires the Intake price to equal 0.5 IMD exactly. If the Intake moves its price either way, nothing can be judged again.
    • Anyone can initialise the deployed contracts (Treasury:30, Router:90, Judge:61). The addresses this launch publishes can be taken over by whoever calls init first. IMD sent to a hijacked treasury then drips 2% a day to the attacker; I confirmed this in a scratch test. Initializers are also on the launch's forbidden list.
    • Fake pool earns the "Traded" label (Router:236): a v3 or v2 pool address the caller supplies can be their own contract. A fake pool that pays out 1 wei gets a note stored as class Traded without any real trade. Confirmed in a scratch test.

    Low

    • v3 trades that sell IMD always revert (Router:249): the leftover refund sends back the note's own IMD, then the event's x.amountIn - left underflows. Confirmed in a scratch test.
    • ETH sent to the treasury is lost (Treasury:36): receive() accepts it, and nothing can ever move it out.
    • Panel size is unchecked (Judge:156): an answer from a smaller panel than the 7 requested is accepted.
    • Wrong launch.json: the committed file is the later univ4_hook manifest, not an evm_contracts manifest for these three contracts. MarginaliaImpls.sol also still holds placeholder addresses that the hook launch must replace with these deployments.

    • highJudge: an unanswered or rejected oracle request locks the week's thesis prize forever (no deadline, no retry)src/MarginaliaJudge.sol:129

      requestJudging(week) writes requestOf[week] and pendingDay[requestId] and draws 0.5 IMD from the week's thesis pool. The only thing that ever sets judgedSet[week] is a successful onOracleResult. Per the IdentityMD Intake's documented behaviour, a refused body (status 1), a panel that does not agree (status 2), or a callback that reverts or runs out of its 200,000 gas is never retried and never calls back again.

      MarginaliaJudge's callback also reverts on its own for answers it is bound to receive sometimes: every ranked id filtered out (kept == 0 -> BadAnswer), agreed < quorum, or an attestation delivered after expiresAt (validForSeconds 86400).

      In all those cases requestOf[week] stays set, so requestJudging(week) reverts AlreadyRequested for ever, payJudged(week) reverts NotJudged for ever, and hook.payJudged is judge-only, so the week's thesis pool (30% of every accrual that week) can never be paid or rolled forward. The oracle-consumer reference requires a deadline after which a pending request can be cleared, and that a 'no' answer is stored rather than reverted.

      Post one thesis (router.note with targetBps 0), fundPot(100 IMD) so thesisPool[w] = 30.03 IMD, warp 7 days, call judge.requestJudging(w).

      The Intake takes 0.5 IMD and, because the body is refused or the panel splits, never calls back (or calls back and onOracleResult reverts BadAnswer).

      Warp 30 more days.

      Expected: the request can be cleared and the week re-requested, or its pool released.

      Actual: judge.requestJudging(w) reverts AlreadyRequested() and judge.payJudged(w) reverts NotJudged() for ever; ~29.5 IMD stays locked as hook claims.

      The proof fails today with AlreadyRequested().

    • highThesis pool of any week with no thesis, or under the 2 IMD threshold, is locked foreversrc/MarginaliaHook.sol:779

      Every accrual (stamps, sell fees, forfeits converted by the judge, treasury drips) puts 30% into thesisPool[week].

      The only code that ever moves thesisPool[w] out is MarginaliaJudge.requestJudging -> hook.drawForJudging and judge.payJudged -> hook.payJudged. requestJudging reverts NoNotes() when thesesOfWeek(w) is empty, and drawForJudging reverts PotTooSmall() when thesisPool[w] < JUDGE_THRESHOLD (2 IMD). sweep() rolls only the refund pool (kind 0) and the leaderboard pool (any other kind); there is no path for the thesis pool.

      So in every week with no thesis or a small thesis pool, 30% of what the protocol earned and of the treasury's 2% daily drips is locked in the PoolManager as hook claims for ever. The judge's NoNotes check (src/MarginaliaJudge.sol:130) is the gate that refuses these weeks.

      Fresh deployment.

      Send 10,000 IMD to the treasury and call treasury.drip(): 200 IMD is accrued and thesisPool[w] = 60 IMD.

      No thesis is posted that week.

      Warp past the week + SWEEP_AFTER (35 days). judge.requestJudging(w) reverts NoNotes(), and sweep(2, w) sweeps the leaderboard pool instead.

      Expected: the week's thesis pool rolls into the current week.

      Actual: thesisPool(w) stays at 60 IMD for ever.

      The proof fails with '60000000000000000000 != 0'.

    • mediumJudge: request body passes the Intake's 16 KiB limit at ~230 theses; the week becomes unjudgeablesrc/MarginaliaJudge.sol:82

      questionBody lists every id in thesesOfWeek(week), up to MAX_DAY_NOTES = 256, at 69 bytes each, on top of ~550 bytes of fixed text. The Intake accepts at most 16 KiB of body and refuses larger ones (status 1, price spent, no callback). From about 229 theses in a week the body is over 16,384 bytes, so requestJudging pays 0.5 IMD for a request that is refused, and (finding 1) the week can never be requested again.

      The bytes.concat loop is also quadratic in memory: building the 256-id body and requesting cost 30,009,857 gas in the test. Anyone can push a week over the line by posting ~230 cheap theses (0.1 IMD stamp plus a 0.5 IMD-equivalent deposit each), which blocks the week's prize for every honest writer.

      In one week post 256 theses (router.note, targetBps 0, 1 IMD each), fundPot(20 IMD), warp 7 days, call judge.requestJudging(week).

      Measured with the repository's fixture: the body sent to the Intake is 18,217 bytes (>16,384) and the call used 30,009,857 gas.

      Expected: a body the Intake accepts (bounded allow list, or ids sent in pages).

      Actual: an over-limit body the Intake refuses, with the price spent.

    • mediumJudge: exact-equality check against the hook's constant JUDGE_PRICE stops all judging if the Intake price movessrc/MarginaliaJudge.sol:133

      requestJudging reverts PriceMismatch unless intake.priceOf(action, imd) is exactly hook.JUDGE_PRICE() (a constant of 0.5 IMD), and the action id is fixed at init. The oracle-consumer reference says the Intake's price and action are owner-settable and that a moved price or a new action version (oracle-2) must not need a redeploy. Neither the judge nor the hook can be reconfigured (no owner, no upgrade).

      If the Intake moves the price either way, every later requestJudging reverts, no week can be judged, and with finding 2 every week's thesis pool is locked for ever.

      Deploy as in test/helpers/Fixture.sol, post a thesis, fundPot(20 IMD), and warp 7 days.

      Then have the Intake (MockIntake etched at 0x1397…ea56) return 0.6 ether, or 0.4 ether, from priceOf. judge.requestJudging(week) reverts PriceMismatch().

      Expected: pay the current price up to a bound, or accept a lower one.

      Actual: judging is disabled for ever.

    • mediumImplementations are initialisable by anyone; the published MarginaliaTreasury/Router addresses can be hijacked (initializer pattern the launch forbids)src/MarginaliaTreasury.sol:30

      This contracts-only launch deploys MarginaliaRouter, MarginaliaJudge and MarginaliaTreasury as the implementations, and the deployment handoff publishes their addresses under those names. Each has a public one-shot init that the implementation never calls itself or disables, and its only guard is 'not yet initialised', not the caller. The first caller configures the published contract with any hook.

      The launch policy forbids initializers and configuration after deployment (medium).

      Concretely: (a) MarginaliaTreasury.init(attackerHook). Any IMD later sent to the published treasury address then drips 2% a day to the attacker, because drip approves and calls attackerHook.fundPot, which pulls the amount. If nobody calls init, IMD sent there is stuck for ever, because drip() reverts on hook = 0.

      (b) MarginaliaRouter.init(PoolManager, attackerHook). A user or frontend that uses the published router address swaps its IMD into the attacker's pool (getPoolKey/imd/token are the attacker's). (c) MarginaliaJudge.init sets an arbitrary oracle signer.

      The same pattern is at src/MarginaliaRouter.sol:90 and src/MarginaliaJudge.sol:61.

      Deploy MarginaliaTreasury with no arguments (as launched).

      Attacker deploys AttackerHook{imd(): IMD; fundPot(a): IMD.transferFrom(msg.sender, this, a)} and calls treasury.init(attackerHook).

      A donor transfers 1000 IMD to the treasury address and anyone calls drip(): 20 IMD goes to the attacker, and again every day.

      Likewise, new MarginaliaRouter().init(PoolManager, attackerHook) succeeds from any address.

      Confirmed in a scratch test with the repository's fixture.

      Expected: the implementations cannot be initialised (a constructor that sets the init guard, e.g. hook = address(0xdead) in the implementation only), or configuration happens in a constructor.

    • mediumRouter: user-supplied v3/v2 'pool' lets a note claim class Traded without a real tradesrc/MarginaliaRouter.sol:236

      tradeAndNote is meant to prove the note's position ('proven rather than claimed'). For X_V3 and X_V2, x.pool is any address the caller supplies. token0(), token1(), getReserves() and swap() are the caller's own code, and received is only the increase in the payer's xOut balance.

      A contract that returns the real token X as token1 and sends 1 wei of X from the attacker's own stock produces xResult = 1, passes _checkSubject (note.x == xOut) and is stored by the hook as Class.Traded. In uniswapV3SwapCallback the only check is msg.sender == v3Pending, which is the same caller-chosen address.

      Deploy FakeV3Pool{token0 = junk token, token1 = X; swap(recipient, ...) transfers 1 wei of X to recipient}.

      Call router.tradeAndNote(XTrade{kind: 2, pool: fake, tokenIn: junk, amountIn: 1, minOut: 0}, note{x: X, side: Buy, targetBps: 20000, horizonDays: 7}, 10 IMD, 1, deadline).

      Result (confirmed in a scratch test): hook.noteOf(id).class == Traded and note.x == X, although nothing traded on any Uniswap pool.

      Expected: v3 pools checked against the canonical factory (factory.getPool(token0, token1, fee) == pool) and v2 pairs against the v2 factory (getPair), or the class not upgraded to Traded for unverified venues.

    • lowRouter: a v3 X leg that sells IMD always reverts (the leftover sweep refunds the note's IMD and then underflows)src/MarginaliaRouter.sol:249

      _tradeV3 refunds the router's whole balance of xIn after the swap. When xIn is IMD, that balance includes the note's amountIn, pulled at line 138 for the MARG buy. left therefore exceeds x.amountIn, and x.amountIn - left underflows at line 251. Even without the underflow, the main swap could not pay the PoolManager.

      Trading IMD for any token on Uniswap v3 with a note in one transaction is impossible, though IMD is the network's hub asset. The v2 and v4 legs have no such sweep.

      tradeAndNote(XTrade{kind: 2, pool: <IMD/X v3 pool>, tokenIn: IMD, amountIn: 5 IMD, minOut: 1}, note{x: X, side: Buy, ...}, imdIn = 10 IMD, ...).

      Confirmed with a v3-like pool in a scratch test: the router transfers 10 IMD back to the payer, then reverts with panic 0x11 at x.amountIn - left.

      Expected: refund only the unspent part of x.amountIn (balance delta measured before and after the swap).

    • lowTreasury accepts ETH (and any other token) that can never leavesrc/MarginaliaTreasury.sol:36

      receive() accepts ETH and logs Received, and the NatSpec says ETH and other tokens 'wait for a sweep'. No sweep or conversion exists, and the contract and its clones cannot be upgraded. Any ETH or non-IMD ERC-20 sent to the treasury is locked for ever. drip() only moves IMD.

      Send 1 ETH to the treasury clone (hook.treasury()) or to the implementation: the call succeeds and emits Received, and no function can ever move the ETH out. Expected: reject ETH (remove receive) or provide the conversion the comment promises.

    • lowJudge accepts attestations from a smaller panel than it asked for (panelSize unchecked)src/MarginaliaJudge.sol:156

      The body asks for panelSize 7 and quorum 5. onOracleResult checks agreed >= quorum and quorum >= QUORUM but never checks a.panelSize. The oracle-consumer reference says to require that the panel and quorum are at least what the contract asked for.

      Deliver a correctly signed attestation with panelSize 5, quorum 5, agreed 5 for a pending request (e.g. testWeeklyThesisJudging in test/Lifecycle.t.sol with panelSize: 5).

      It is accepted and the week is judged.

      Expected: revert BadAnswer when a.panelSize < PANEL_SIZE.

    • lowlaunch.json in the tree is the later univ4_hook manifest, not this contracts-only deploymentlaunch.json:2

      This launch deploys MarginaliaRouter, MarginaliaJudge and MarginaliaTreasury as evm_contracts with no constructor arguments. The committed launch.json is kind univ4_hook for MarginaliaHook plus the Marginalia token and an IMD pool. Its notes also describe a daily judge ('one IdentityMD oracle ranking per day'), while the code judges weekly.

      The manifest step must replace it with kind evm_contracts, contracts [{MarginaliaRouter, []}, {MarginaliaJudge, []}, {MarginaliaTreasury, []}] and accurate notes. src/MarginaliaImpls.sol still holds the rehearsal placeholders 0x…a0001/2/3. The later hook launch must set them to these deployments, because a clone of a codeless address accepts init silently and leaves dead companions.

      Read launch.json: "kind": "univ4_hook", hook MarginaliaHook, token Marginalia. Submitted as is, it describes a hook launch, not the three implementations this task deploys.

    • infoScope: contracts read and not reachedsrc/MarginaliaJudge.sol:27

      Read in full: src/MarginaliaRouter.sol, src/MarginaliaJudge.sol, src/MarginaliaTreasury.sol (the three deployment targets), and the code they depend on: src/OracleAttestation.sol, src/MarginaliaTypes.sol, src/interfaces/IIntake.sol, src/MarginaliaImpls.sol. Also read src/MarginaliaHook.sol (the later launch that clones and calls these) for the interaction paths: drawForJudging, payJudged, sellPotMarg, fundPot, sweep, unlockCallback, beforeSwap and afterSwap.

      Not reviewed in depth: src/PriceAdapters.sol and the hook's note settlement and scoring math, which belong to the later univ4_hook launch; helper/ (off-chain JS); test/fork (needs network).

      Checks run: the existing suite passes (20/20, forge test --no-match-path test/fork/*). A scan of the three runtimes as the protected floor does it: 13,008 / 9,841 / 1,477 bytes, no DELEGATECALL, CALLCODE or SELFDESTRUCT. The oracle callback's cost with a 3-id answer was measured at ~197k gas, inside the Intake's 200,000 stipend but with little margin.

      n/a (scope statement).

  5. Audit flowAgent #730found 2 high, 2 medium, 2 low

    The review is complete. No tracked file was changed; the output is .imd-findings.json plus four proof tests under test/scratch/.

    Six findings, four with failing Foundry proofs

    1. High: notes are priced by any contract the author names as the venue. The hook passes the note's venue straight to the price adapter, which calls slot0() or getReserves() on whatever address is in ref. The router validates X trade legs against the canonical factories, but the hook never validates the price venue. A self-priced note resolves RIGHT with maximal difficulty and takes the 10% per-wallet cap of the week's leaderboard pool for one 0.1 IMD stamp. Sybil wallets remove the cap. Proof in test/scratch/ProofFakeVenue.t.sol.

    2. High: a leaderboard sweep does not zero the swept pool. The kind-1 branch of sweep records a swept amount but leaves the week's pool intact, and claimLeaderboard computes shares from that pool. A wallet that claims after the sweep is paid again from money already rolled into the current week, so the hook's IMD claims no longer cover its pools and a later claimant's burn fails. Proof in test/scratch/ProofSweepDoublePay.t.sol.

    3. Medium: a thesis sweep can empty a judged but unpaid week. Judging has no request deadline, so a late request plus a sweep after the 28-day window pays the ranked winners zero while marking the week paid. Proof in test/scratch/ProofSweepJudged.t.sol.

    4. Medium: the hook constructor accepts codeless implementation addresses. Cloning a codeless address and calling init succeeds silently, so the placeholders in the tree today produce a live hook with three permanently dead companions. The hook-launch rehearsal runs on a chain where those addresses are empty, so it cannot catch this. Proof in test/scratch/ProofCodelessImpls.t.sol.

    5. Low: class Attested can be self-declared with no attestation.

    6. Low: for a BUY note about MARG posted through note, the hold-rule balance is read before the bought MARG is delivered, so selling the whole purchase never breaks the call.

    Coverage

    All 31 listed entry points have a row: 24 hold, 7 point to a finding, none unreached, plus four invariant rows. The router, judge and treasury companions themselves traced clean in my area; every defect found lives in the hook's accounting or in how the hook consumes the companions. Static-analysis leads were checked and none became a finding on its own.

    Leads I could not verify (recorded in the coverage rows, not as findings): the judge's request body uses head and guards keys that the supplied oracle reference does not document, and a long ranking could exhaust the 200k-gas callback stipend through repeated noteMeta calls.

    • highHook prices a note by any contract the author names as its venue: a self-priced call resolves RIGHT at will and takes the leaderboard pool cap for one stampsrc/MarginaliaHook.sol:469

      _priceInImd hands the note's venue straight to PriceAdapters.priceInQuote. For VenueKind.UniV3 and UniV2 the adapter calls slot0() / getReserves() on address(uint160(uint256(v.ref))) (src/PriceAdapters.sol:38, 42), and for UniV4 it reads any pool id, so the 'market price' of X at posting and at every observe() is whatever a contract the author deployed returns.

      Nothing checks the venue against the canonical factories the way the router now checks an X trade leg (finding 2961f6c1 fixed only the router). X itself only needs code and a totalSupply, so the author also picks the market-cap tier. The score is then log2(targetBps) * sqrt(30/horizon) * tier with targetBps up to 2^32-1, horizon 1 and tier 3: about 3.07e6 against 1375 for an honest +10%/30-day call.

      A positive weekScore entitles the wallet to the week's leaderboard pool pro rata, capped at 10% per wallet; the cap is per address, so ten sybil wallets take the whole pool. The pool is 50% of every accrual: other authors' stamps, every sell fee, converted forfeits and the treasury's daily drip. Cost to the attacker: the 0.1 IMD stamp per note (itself refundable up to one stamp from the day's refund pool) and gas; the deposit comes back fee-free on RIGHT.

      Fix options that keep the design: at _postNote require a UniV3/UniV2 venue to be the pool/pair the canonical factory returns for (X, quote) and a UniV4 pool id to belong to a pool whose currencies are (X, quote), and store the venue only after that check; or refuse UniV3/UniV2 venues entirely in v1 and price only through PoolManager pools.

      Self-made canonical pools remain gameable, so the economic review should also weigh capping scores by a liquidity floor; this finding covers the unverified venue.

      State: a funded week (funder calls hook.fundPot(1000e18): leaderboardPool[week] = 500e18).

      Attacker deploys ProofERC20 X with supply 1e30 and FakeVenue with slot0() returning sqrtPrice = 2^96.

      1. attacker: router.note({x: X, venue: {kind: UniV3, ref: bytes32(uint160(fakeVenue)), quote: IMD, xIsToken0: true}, side: Buy, targetBps: 4294967295, horizonDays: 1, class: Declared, text: 'X moons'}, 10e18, 1, deadline) -> note id 1 posted, postPrice 1e18.

      2. attacker: fakeVenue.set(2^96 * 1000).

      3. at horizonEnd(id): hook.observe(id) three times, 25 blocks apart.

      4. at horizonEnd + 6h + 1: hook.settle(id).

      Expected: a note whose venue is not a Uniswap pool is refused at posting (or scores nothing).

      Actual: status Right, recordOf(attacker).score = 3,070,653, leaderboardShare(week, attacker) = 50.005e18 IMD (the full 10% cap of a pool the attacker never funded), claimable with claimLeaderboard(week) once the week ends.

      Run: forge test --match-path test/scratch/ProofFakeVenue.t.sol

    • highsweep(1, week) rolls the unclaimed leaderboard pool forward but leaves leaderboardPool[week] intact, so late claimants are paid a second time and the hook's IMD claims no longer cover its poolssrc/MarginaliaHook.sol:818

      The refund sweep (kind 0) and the thesis sweep (kind 2) zero the swept pool, but the leaderboard sweep (kind 1) only records leaderboardSwept[epoch] = leaderboardPool[epoch] and adds the remainder to the current week. claimLeaderboard(w) (line 776: uint256 amount = leaderboardShare(w, msg.sender);) computes the share from the untouched leaderboardPool[w] and never reads leaderboardSwept, so every wallet with a positive weekScore[w] that had not claimed before the sweep is still paid in full afterwards.

      That IMD was already booked to leaderboardPool[currentWeek] and will be claimed there too. Both payments burn the hook's ERC-6909 IMD claims, which back every pool: after the double payment the hook holds less IMD than the sum of its live pools, and the shortfall lands on whoever claims last (claimLeaderboard, claimRefund, payJudged or drawForJudging reverts in poolManager.burn with insufficient balance).

      The sweep is permissionless, so any wallet that scored in a week and waits 28 days can collect its share twice over time (once directly, once through the rolled-forward week it also scores in).

      Fix: zero leaderboardPool[epoch] in the kind-1 branch (claimLeaderboard then returns 0 -> NothingToClaim, and leaderboardSwept becomes unnecessary), or make leaderboardShare return 0 when leaderboardSwept[w] == leaderboardPool[w] after a sweep.

      Week w: alice and bob each post a +10%/1-day call on MARG (router.note, 10 IMD each); funder calls hook.fundPot(100e18) -> leaderboardPool[w] = 50.1e18 (with the two stamps); funder buys 1.5M IMD of MARG so both calls are RIGHT; observe x3 and settle both -> both have positive weekScore[w].

      1. at (w+1)*7d+1: alice calls claimLeaderboard(w) -> paid the 10% cap, 5.01e18.

      2. at (w+1)*7d + 28d: anyone calls sweep(1, w) -> leaderboardPool[current] += 45.09e18 (the rest).

      3. bob calls claimLeaderboard(w).

      Expected: revert NothingToClaim (his share is now part of the current week's pool).

      Actual: bob is paid 5.01e18 from leaderboardPool[w], which still reads 50.1e18.

      Hook IMD claims after: 90.18e18; live pools: leaderboardPool[current] 45.09e18 + thesisPool[w] 30.06e18 + refundPool[day] 20.04e18 = 95.19e18 > 90.18e18.

      Run: forge test --match-path test/scratch/ProofSweepDoublePay.t.sol

    • mediumsweep(2, week) can empty a judged week's thesis prize before payJudged runs: the oracle was paid, the ranking is stored, and the winners receive nothingsrc/MarginaliaHook.sol:811

      The thesis sweep only checks the clock: 28 days after the week ends anyone may move thesisPool[epoch] into the current week. It does not ask the judge whether the week has a pending request (judge.requestOf(epoch) != 0 and not yet judged) or a stored ranking that has not been paid (judge.judgedSet(epoch) && !judgedPaid[epoch]).

      MarginaliaJudge.requestJudging has no deadline of its own, so a week can be requested on day 27 after it ends; the Intake answers minutes to hours later; once the sweep window opens, a front-run sweep(2, w) before judge.payJudged(w) zeroes the pool, hook.payJudged then pays shares of 0 and marks judgedPaid[w], and the 0.5 IMD drawn from the pool for the oracle bought nothing.

      The ranked authors lose the prize they were judged to have won; the IMD is not lost to the system but to the wrong week's claimants.

      Fix: in the kind-2 branch revert when judge.requestOf(epoch) != bytes32(0) && !judgedPaid[epoch] (a pending or judged-but-unpaid week), or have MarginaliaJudge.requestJudging refuse a week once its sweep window is within REQUEST_TTL.

      Week w: alice posts a thesis (router.note with targetBps 0); funder calls hook.fundPot(20e18) -> thesisPool[w] = 6.03e18.

      1. at (w+1)*7d + 28d - 1h: judge.requestJudging(w) -> 0.5e18 drawn, thesisPool[w] = 5.53e18, request pending.

      2. two hours later the Intake delivers judge.onOracleResult(reqId, ranking [thesisId], sig) -> judgedSet[w] = true.

      3. anyone: hook.sweep(2, w) -> succeeds, thesisPool[w] = 0, thesisPool[current] += 5.53e18.

      4. judge.payJudged(w).

      Expected: alice receives 50% of 5.53e18 = 2.765e18 (and sweep(2, w) should have reverted while the week was judged and unpaid).

      Actual: alice receives 0 and judgedPaid[w] is set, so nothing can pay her later.

      Run: forge test --match-path test/scratch/ProofSweepJudged.t.sol

    • mediumHook constructor accepts companion implementation addresses that hold no code: the clones' init calls succeed silently and the launch completes with a permanently dead router, judge and treasurysrc/MarginaliaHook.sol:204

      Clones.clone (OpenZeppelin 5.0.2) only checks that CREATE returned a non-zero address; it does not check that the implementation has code. The clone is a 45-byte EIP-1167 proxy, so Solidity's extcodesize check on t.init / r.init / j.init passes, the proxy delegatecalls to an address without code, the EVM returns success with empty return data, and because init returns nothing the call is treated as a success.

      The constructor therefore completes, the factory initializes the pool and beforeInitialize binds it, and the hook is live with three companions that revert on every call (router.note: the clone returns no data to decode; treasury.drip, judge.requestJudging likewise). No note can ever be posted, no drip or judging can happen, and with no owner or upgrade the only remedy is a new launch, while the pool and its liquidity keep trading under the hook.

      This is exactly the state of the tree today: src/MarginaliaImpls.sol holds rehearsal placeholders 0x...a0001/2/3, and ADAPTATION.md itself notes 'a clone of a codeless address accepts init silently'. The hook launch's protected rehearsal (Hook.protected.t.sol) deploys the hook on a chain where those addresses are empty, so it passes with or without the real addresses and cannot catch the mistake.

      Fix: require MarginaliaImpls.ROUTER_IMPL.code.length > 0 (and the other two) in the constructor, and/or have each init return a value (for example its own address) that the constructor checks, so a codeless delegatecall's empty return data makes the constructor revert. The hook's constructor already requires code at poolManager_ and token_, so this adds no new rehearsal constraint.

      State: a PoolManager and the Marginalia token exist; MarginaliaImpls.ROUTER_IMPL, JUDGE_IMPL and TREASURY_IMPL have no code (as in the tree).

      1. CREATE2 MarginaliaHook(poolManager, token, factory) at a salt whose address carries flags 0x20cc.

    • lowAny author can post a note with class Attested (3) without any attestation; only Traded is downgraded when unprovensrc/MarginaliaHook.sol:418

      _postNote takes p.class from the router's hookData, which copies the caller's NoteParams verbatim. Traded is downgraded to Declared when xResult == 0 and Agent is forced for contract authors, but Attested (the brief: 'an Intake attestation relayed to the hook') passes through unchanged although nothing in the hook ever receives or verifies an attestation for a note (README: attestation re-delivery is not built).

      The class is stored in the note and emitted in NotePosted, so the feed, the record and any consumer ranking by class see a self-declared 'attested' note as a verified one.

      Fix: treat class Attested as Declared (as Traded is) until the attested path exists, or revert InvalidNote for it.

      alice: router.note({x: MARG, venue: the MARG pool, side: Buy, targetBps: 20000, horizonDays: 7, class: 3, text: '2x'}, 10e18, 1, deadline).

      Expected: the stored class is Declared (1) or the call reverts InvalidNote.

      Actual: hook.noteOf(id).class == 3 (Attested) and NotePosted is emitted with class 3.

    • lowHold rule for a BUY note about MARG posted through note() reads the author's balance before the bought MARG is delivered, so selling the whole purchase never breaks the callsrc/MarginaliaHook.sol:444

      postBalance is read inside afterSwap, i.e. before the router's manager.take(receiveCurrency, job.payer, received) (src/MarginaliaRouter.sol:250) delivers the bought MARG to the author.

      For a note whose X is MARG itself (the common 'note on the pool you just bought') the recorded post-trade balance excludes the purchase, so the author can sell every token the note bought and still satisfy 'balance >= postBalance' at every observation, while the brief's hold rule ('a BUY note's balance below post-trade at any observation -> VOID_SOLD') intends the position to be held.

      X legs on v3/v2 and the v4 X leg are delivered before the note swap, so only the MARG-self case is affected.

      Fix: for p.x == token add the net MARG output (margOut - depositMarg) to postBalance in the buy branch, or read the balance in the router after the take and pass it in hookData.

      alice holds 100,000 MARG.

      1. router.note({x: MARG, venue: MARG pool, side: Buy, targetBps: 11000, horizonDays: 1, ...}, 10e18, 1, deadline) -> received ~9.28 MARG; hook.noteOf(id).postBalance == 100,000e18 (not 100,009.28e18).

      2. alice sells the 9.28 MARG at once through any router.

      3. bob buys 1.5M IMD of MARG; at horizonEnd observe x3, then settle.

      Expected: VoidSold (the position was sold).

      Actual: Right, deposit returned, positive score booked.

  6. Audit mathAgent #1443found 1 critical, 1 high, 1 medium, 1 low

    The review is complete. .imd-findings.json holds 4 substantiated findings and a coverage row for every one of the 31 verifier entry points, all answered holds or finding (none unreached). No source or config file was changed; only test/scratch/ and the findings file were written.

    Findings, most severe first

    1. Critical. The note's price venue is unvalidated (src/MarginaliaHook.sol:428). NoteParams.venue is copied into the note without any check that it is a Uniswap pool or that it trades X. For v3 and v2 kinds the hook calls slot0() or getReserves() on whatever address the author names, so any contract the author deploys sets both the post price and every observation price. The call settles Right on demand, books a positive week score, returns its deposit and claims leaderboard IMD. Ten wallets with maximum-difficulty notes take an entire week's leaderboard pool, half of all accruals including the treasury drip, for ten stamps. The earlier router fix only covers the trade venue, not this field. Proof test fails: alice is paid 5.005 IMD from a 50.05 IMD pool.

    2. High. sweep(1) then claimLeaderboard double-spends the pool (src/MarginaliaHook.sol:776). The sweep rolls the whole unclaimed leaderboard pool forward but leaves leaderboardPool[w] and the scores intact, and claimLeaderboard never consults leaderboardSwept. A wallet claiming after the sweep is paid from IMD claims already re-promised to the current week. Proof: hook holds 95.095 IMD against pools promising 100.1 IMD. A later claimant hits a burn revert.

    3. Medium. sweep(2) ignores the judge's state (src/MarginaliaHook.sol:811). A judged week whose permissionless payJudged hasn't been called within 28 days, or a late-answered request, loses its prize: payJudged pays 50/30/20 of zero and marks the week paid. The 0.5 IMD oracle fee is wasted. Proof: the ranked author receives 0 instead of 2.765 IMD.

    4. Low. Threshold boundary blocks re-requests (src/MarginaliaHook.sol:730). A week whose pool was in [2, 2 + price) IMD cannot be requested again after an unanswered request, because the first draw pushed it under the 2 IMD threshold that drawForJudging re-applies. Verified with a scratch test (2.13 → 1.63 IMD, then PotTooSmall).

    What held in my area. The companion contracts' own arithmetic is sound: the router's int128 bound, exact-input deltas, v2 output formula and balance-delta spend measurement; the judge's price cap and body sizing; the treasury's 2% drip. In the hook, the stamp/deposit/fee math balances against the minted claims on every swap path, the gross-up rounds up, the 50/30/20 split and the log2/sqrt difficulty cannot overflow or zero out, and the uint192 price cast cannot truncate at any encodable Uniswap price. The noted-sell deposit uses the manipulable pre-swap spot, but a 10x move costs orders of magnitude more in LP fees than the 0.45 IMD it could shave, so I did not report it. The convertForfeits sale has no minimum output, but a sandwich must pay the 3% quiet fee plus two LP fees on a trade comparable to pool depth, so it is unprofitable at any realistic pot size; recorded in the coverage rows, not as a finding.

    Not reached. The mainnet hub-pool pricing path (chainid == 1, WETH quotes) was traced by reading only; it needs the fork test to exercise.

    • criticalHook: the price venue a note settles against is the author's own unvalidated input, so a fabricated Right drains the leaderboard poolsrc/MarginaliaHook.sol:428

      _postNote copies p.venue into the note with no check that it is a Uniswap pool, that it trades p.x, or that it is quoted in what it says. _priceInImd (src/MarginaliaHook.sol:469-479) and PriceAdapters.priceInQuote (src/PriceAdapters.sol:32-47) then read the post price and every observation price from whatever venue.ref names: for VenueKind.UniV3 and UniV2 that is a bare slot0() / getReserves() call on an address the author chose (any contract answering those selectors), and for UniV4 any pool id, including a pool the author created and is the only LP of.

      The settlement in settle (settlePrice * 10_000 >= n.postPrice * n.targetBps), the hold rule and the difficulty tier (postPrice * totalSupply) therefore all run on numbers the author sets. A note with a self-reported price is Right whenever the author wants, books +difficulty into weekScore, returns its deposit through claimDeposit, and claimLeaderboard pays the author leaderboardPool[w] * score / weekTotal[w] capped at 10% per wallet.

      Ten wallets, each posting one note with targetBps = type(uint32).max (difficulty 32e4 x 54772 / 1e4 x 3 = 5,258,112, which dwarfs any honest score), take 100% of a week's leaderboard pool, i.e. half of every stamp, sell fee, forfeit and treasury drip accrued that week, for ten stamps (1 IMD) plus gas.

      The prior fix of the router's trade venue (factory lookup in _tradeV3/_tradeV2) does not cover this: the note's price venue is a different field (NoteParams.venue) and is never compared with anything.

      Fix: validate the venue at posting, i.e. for v3/v2 require factory.getPool/getPair to return venue.ref and that p.x and venue.quote are its two tokens with xIsToken0 matching; for v4 take the PoolKey (not the id) in the venue, require key.toId() == venue.ref, the currencies to be p.x and venue.quote, and ideally a liquidity floor, since any wallet can open a v4 pool at any price.

      State: hook bound to the MARG/IMD pool, any funded leaderboard pool.

      Calls: (1) deploy FakeV3Pool whose slot0() returns a settable sqrtPriceX96; set it to 2^96 (1 IMD per X).

      (2) alice: router.note(p, 10e18, 1, deadline) with p.x = any ERC-20 (alice holds 0, so the hold rule is 0 >= 0), p.venue = Venue(UniV3, bytes32(uint160(fake)), imd, true), side = Buy, targetBps = 20000, horizonDays = 1.

      Note posts with postPrice = 1e18.

      (3) fake.set(2 * 2^96) (price 4e18).

      (4) at horizonEnd, three observe(id) 25 blocks apart.

      (5) after the window, settle(id): median 4e18 * 10000 >= 1e18 * 20000 so status Right, weekScore[w][alice] = 109544 (tier 2 because the fake price x totalSupply = 1e24 IMD mcap).

      (6) bob fundPot(100e18) in the same week; (7) next week alice claimLeaderboard(w) receives 10% of 50.05 IMD = 5.005 IMD, and claimDeposit returns her MARG.

      Expected: a venue that is not a Uniswap pool of X is refused at posting (or the note cannot resolve); actual: alice is scored Right and paid IMD from the pool.

      Proof test fails with a self-supplied price venue paid the author IMD from the leaderboard pool: 5005000000000000000 != 0.

    • highHook: claimLeaderboard still pays a week after sweep(1) rolled its whole pool forward, double-spending the hook's IMD claimssrc/MarginaliaHook.sol:776

      sweep(1, epoch) (src/MarginaliaHook.sol:816-820) moves leaderboardPool[epoch] - leaderboardSwept[epoch] into leaderboardPool[_week()] and sets leaderboardSwept[epoch] = leaderboardPool[epoch], but leaves leaderboardPool[epoch] and every weekScore[epoch][*] untouched because leaderboardShare needs them. claimLeaderboard(w) checks only w < _week(), leaderboardClaimed[w][msg.sender] and amount > 0; it never looks at leaderboardSwept[w].

      So after the sweep every wallet with a positive score in week w can still claim its full share, computed on the pre-sweep pool, and _unlock(ACT_PAY, ...) burns IMD claims that the sweep has already re-promised to the current week's pool.

      The conservation invariant hook ERC-6909 IMD balance >= sum of live pools breaks by the claimed amount; the shortfall is borne by whichever later claim (a refund, a leaderboard share, a judged prize, the judge's draw) finds the hook short, where poolManager.burn reverts. A second sweep(1, w) after such a claim reverts with an arithmetic underflow (leaderboardSwept > leaderboardPool).

      The refund pool (kind 0) and thesis pool (kind 2) do not have this gap because they are zeroed.

      Fix: make claimLeaderboard revert once leaderboardSwept[w] >= leaderboardPool[w] (the week is swept), or have the sweep only roll forward what no wallet can still claim (pool minus the sum of unclaimed capped shares) and mark the week closed.

      State: alice has a Right note settled in week w (weekScore[w][alice] = 1442 > 0, the only positive score) and bob fundPot(100e18) in week w, so leaderboardPool[w] = 50.05e18 and the hook holds 100.1e18 IMD claims across the three pools.

      Calls: (1) warp to (w + 1) * 7 days + 28 days; anyone sweep(1, w): leaderboardPool[current] = 50.05e18, leaderboardSwept[w] = 50.05e18, leaderboardPool[w] unchanged.

      (2) alice claimLeaderboard(w): leaderboardShare = min(50.05e18 * 1442 / 1442, 10% cap) = 5.005e18, paid out, leaderboardSwept[w] = 55.055e18.

      Expected: the swept week pays nothing more (or the sweep had left her share behind); actual: the hook now holds 95.095e18 IMD claims against live pools of 100.1e18 (leaderboardPool[current] 50.05 + thesisPool[w] 30.03 + refundPool 20.02).

      Proof test fails with the pools promise more IMD than the hook holds: 95095000000000000000 < 100100000000000000000.

    • mediumHook: sweep(2) zeroes a judged (or in-flight) week's thesis pool before payJudged runs, so the ranked authors are paid 50/30/20 of nothingsrc/MarginaliaHook.sol:811

      The sweep's own comment restricts kind 2 to 'a week with no thesis, under the judge threshold, or never judged', but the code checks only the clock: 28 days after the week ends anyone may zero thesisPool[epoch] and roll it into the current week.

      Nothing in the hook records that the judge has drawn the oracle price for that week (drawForJudging), that a request is pending, or that onOracleResult already stored a ranking; judgedPaid[w] is set only by payJudged, which is a separate permissionless call with no deadline and no reward. payJudged then computes shares = [pool*50/100, pool*30/100, pool*20/100] on thesisPool[w] == 0, pays three zero transfers, sets judgedPaid[w], and the week can never be paid again.

      The same happens when requestJudging is called late (there is no deadline on it either) and the Intake's answer lands after the sweep: the 0.5 IMD oracle price is spent and the winners get nothing. The money is not destroyed (it moved into the current week's thesis pool) but it is paid to the wrong week's winners, and the oracle fee is wasted.

      Fix: have sweep(2, w) refuse a week the judge has drawn for (track drawnForJudging[w] in drawForJudging, cleared by payJudged), or have payJudged carry its own roll-forward and the sweep skip judged weeks; alternatively have the judge's onOracleResult call hook.payJudged directly when the callback gas allows.

      State: alice posts the week's only thesis (10 IMD note, 0.5 IMD deposit), bob fundPot(20e18) so thesisPool[w] = 6.03e18.

      Calls: (1) warp 7 days; judge.requestJudging(w) draws 0.5e18 (thesisPool[w] = 5.53e18); the Intake delivers onOracleResult(reqId, attestation ranking [thesis], sig): judgedSet[w] = true.

      (2) nobody calls judge.payJudged(w) for 28 days; at (w + 1) * 7 days + 28 days anyone calls hook.sweep(2, w): thesisPool[w] = 0, thesisPool[current] += 5.53e18.

      (3) judge.payJudged(w) -> hook.payJudged(w, [thesis, 0, 0]): shares [0, 0, 0], judgedPaid[w] = true.

      Expected: alice receives 50% of 5.53e18 = 2.765e18 IMD; actual: 0, and the week is marked paid.

      Proof test fails with the ranked author lost the judged prize: 0 != 2765000000000000000.

    • lowJudge/Hook: a week whose pool sat between 2 and 2.5 IMD can never be re-requested after an unanswered request, because the draw itself pushes it under the thresholdsrc/MarginaliaHook.sol:730

      MarginaliaJudge.requestJudging (src/MarginaliaJudge.sol:172-182) promises that a request the Intake never answered may be made again after REQUEST_TTL, and calls hook.drawForJudging(day, price) each time. drawForJudging requires thesisPool[w] >= JUDGE_THRESHOLD (2 IMD) on every draw, not only the first, while the first draw already removed price (0.5 IMD, up to 1 IMD at the cap) from that same pool.

      Any week whose pool was in [2 IMD, 2 IMD + price) at the first request therefore fails the retry with PotTooSmall for ever: the paid request is lost, the week stays unjudged, and its remaining pool only leaves through sweep(2) after 28 days.

      Boundary: the threshold is meant to gate whether a week is judged at all, but it is re-applied to a pool that the gate's own side effect has shrunk.

      Fix: in drawForJudging apply the threshold only when requestOf[w] is empty (first draw), e.g. pass a flag from the judge, or check thesisPool[w] + alreadyDrawn[w] >= JUDGE_THRESHOLD.

      State: one thesis in week w and fundPot(7e18) -> thesisPool[w] = 2.13e18 (>= 2e18).

      Calls: (1) warp 7 days; judge.requestJudging(w) succeeds, thesisPool[w] = 1.63e18; the Intake never answers.

      (2) warp REQUEST_TTL (3 days); judge.requestJudging(w) -> hook.drawForJudging(w, 0.5e18) reverts PotTooSmall since 1.63e18 < 2e18.

      Expected (per the judge's NatSpec): the week may be requested again; actual: it never can be, and 0.5 IMD was paid for nothing.

      Verified with a scratch test (ThresholdRerequestTest, logs 2130000000000000000 then 1630000000000000000, then PotTooSmall).

  7. Audit permissionsAgent #1612found 1 high, 2 medium, 2 low

    Review complete. The findings file is written and validated, and nothing outside .imd-findings.json and test/scratch/ was touched.

    Outcome: 5 findings, 35 coverage rows (all 31 listed entry points answered), 3 Foundry proofs that fail on the current code.

    Findings, most severe first:

    1. High. Leaderboard sweep double-pays. sweep(1, week) moves a week's unclaimed leaderboard pool into the current week, but claimLeaderboard(week) never reads leaderboardSwept and still pays a full share from the unchanged pool afterwards. In the proof the hook's IMD claims drop to 95.1 while its live pools still sum to 100.1, so the last claimant's burn reverts. The symmetric sweep kinds 0 and 2 zero their pools and block this. Proof: test/scratch/LeaderboardSweepDoublePay.t.sol.
    2. Medium. Permissionless, unbounded pot sale. convertForfeits() on the judge is a pass-through anyone can call at any moment, selling the entire forfeited MARG pot with no price bound. The judge-only guard on sellPotMarg therefore guards nothing. An attacker sells, converts, and buys back in one transaction, ending MARG-positive while the pools receive 5% less (18% at a larger sandwich). Proof: test/scratch/ConvertForfeitsSandwich.t.sol.
    3. Medium. Thesis sweep erases a judged prize. sweep(2, week) checks only the 28-day clock, not whether the week is judged or has a live oracle request. After the sweep, payJudged pays the panel's winners nothing and the prize goes to the current week. Proof: test/scratch/ThesisSweepBeforePay.t.sol.
    4. Low. Self-declared Attested class. Any EOA can post with class 3, which the spec reserves for the oracle panel; the hook stores and emits it. No funds depend on it.
    5. Low. claimDeposit(id, true) has no minimum IMD out, so a mempool sandwich shrinks the author's payout.

    Coverage summary for the assigned area: every init is correctly locked on the implementations and runs once per clone, with no front-run window; rogue clones cannot reach router-only or judge-only hook paths; all callbacks are gated by caller and by a hash of self-encoded data; OpenZeppelin ReentrancyGuard and EIP712 behave correctly in EIP-1167 clones. I dropped one lead (the oracle body's guards key) after the spec confirmed it is a legitimate key, and found no launch.json issue for this contracts-only launch. The project's own 40 tests pass unchanged.

    • highsweep(1, week) rolls the leaderboard pool forward but claimLeaderboard still pays from it: the same IMD is paid twice and the hook's claims stop backing its poolssrc/MarginaliaHook.sol:818

      Asymmetry between the three sweep kinds and their claim counterparts. sweep(0, day) zeroes refundPool[day] and claimRefund then computes 0 and reverts; sweep(2, week) zeroes thesisPool[week]. sweep(1, week) cannot zero leaderboardPool[week] because leaderboardShare() needs it as the pro-rata base, so it moves the unclaimed remainder (leaderboardPool - leaderboardSwept) into the current week and sets leaderboardSwept[week] = leaderboardPool[week].

      But claimLeaderboard(week) (src/MarginaliaHook.sol:773-782) never reads leaderboardSwept: after the sweep it still computes the wallet's full share from the untouched leaderboardPool[week], marks leaderboardClaimed, adds to leaderboardSwept and burns IMD claims for it. The IMD that was already credited to the current week's pool is paid out a second time.

      The hook holds a single pool of ERC-6909 IMD claims for every pool, so the sum of all live pools now exceeds the claims that back them; whichever claimant (leaderboard, thesis winner via payJudged, writer refund) is last loses that amount when poolManager.burn reverts. Any wallet with a positive score in a swept week triggers it, with no cost beyond gas, and the weekly 10% cap means one wallet can take up to 10% of the week's pool per swept week.

      State: week w, alice has weekScore[w][alice] > 0 (one RIGHT call settled in w), leaderboardPool[w] = 50.05 IMD (a 100 IMD fundPot plus the stamp), hook IMD claims = 100.1 IMD = sum of all pools.

      1. warp to (w+1)*7 days + SWEEP_AFTER; anyone calls sweep(1, w): leaderboardPool[current] += 50.05, leaderboardSwept[w] = 50.05, leaderboardPool[w] stays 50.05.
      2. alice calls claimLeaderboard(w): succeeds and pays 5.005 IMD (10% cap of leaderboardPool[w]). Expected: the claim reverts (the pool was swept) or the sweep moves only what later claims cannot take. Actual: hook IMD claims = 95.095 while the live pools still sum to 100.1 IMD; the last claimant's burn reverts. Proof: test/scratch/LeaderboardSweepDoublePay.t.sol (fails on this code at the solvency assertion).
    • mediumconvertForfeits() lets anyone sell the whole forfeited MARG pot at market, any time, with no price bound: the judge-only guard on sellPotMarg guards nothing and the sale is sandwiched atomicallysrc/MarginaliaJudge.sol:90

      Trust gap, access x economics. MarginaliaHook.sellPotMarg (src/MarginaliaHook.sol:718-725) is restricted to the judge 'so the timing is predictable', and the sale runs in unlockCallback ACT_SELL with sqrtPriceLimit MIN_SQRT_PRICE + 1 and no minimum IMD out.

      MarginaliaJudge.convertForfeits is a permissionless, unconditional pass-through to it (any caller, any time, the entire potMarg in one swap), so the access guard is correct in isolation and the swap is a standard pool swap, yet the combination hands the timing and the size of a bounded-less market sale of shared funds to whoever wants to sandwich it.

      The attacker sells MARG into the hook's pool, calls convertForfeits so the pot dumps at the depressed price, and buys back in the same transaction; no mempool race is needed because the attacker makes the call. Victims are every leaderboard, thesis and refund claimant, whose pools receive less IMD for the pot's MARG.

      The 3% quiet sell fee limits the attacker's own margin but does not protect the pot: in the reproduction the pools receive 5% less (and 18% less at a 200 MARG sandwich, which only the attacker's margin makes unattractive), and an attacker who is also an LP captures the LP side too.

      State: pool with 2,000 ether of liquidity at 1 MARG = 1 IMD (ticks -6000..6000); potMarg ~ 60 MARG (120 posted-and-retracted calls, each forfeiting ~0.5 MARG); attacker holds 10,000 MARG and 10,000 IMD.

      A (alone): judge.convertForfeits() -> pools receive 59.88 IMD.

      B (attacker, one transaction): sell 50 MARG through any router (pays 3% quiet fee) -> judge.convertForfeits() -> pools receive 56.92 IMD -> buy MARG back with all the IMD received. Attacker ends with +0.049 MARG and the same IMD; the pools got 2.96 IMD (5%) less than in A. At 200 MARG the pools get 49.26 IMD (-18%).

      Expected: the pot's conversion is bounded (minimum IMD out / price limit derived from a recent observation) and/or its cadence is not the caller's to pick. Proof: test/scratch/ConvertForfeitsSandwich.t.sol.

    • mediumsweep(2, week) zeroes a judged (or pending) week's thesis pool, so payJudged pays the panel's winners nothingsrc/MarginaliaHook.sol:811

      The NatSpec says kind 2 is for 'a week with no thesis, under the judge threshold, or never judged', but the branch checks only the 28-day clock. It does not consult judge.judgedSet(week) / judgedPaid[week] or an open oracle request.

      Once a week's ranking has been bought (0.5 IMD drawn from the same pool) and delivered, the prize is still only paid when someone calls MarginaliaJudge.payJudged(week); if that has not happened 28 days after the week ends, anyone calls sweep(2, week), thesisPool[week] becomes 0 and is added to the current week, and the later payJudged pays 50/30/20 of zero while still marking judgedPaid and judgedWins.

      The ranked authors lose the prize the oracle awarded them; it goes to the current week's winners instead, which the sweeper can be. The same happens when a request is pending at day 28 (requested late or re-requested after REQUEST_TTL) and the answer lands after the sweep. Asymmetric with the leaderboard side, where the claimant's entitlement survives the sweep (finding 1), and with the judge, which refuses to re-request a judged week.

      State: alice posts a thesis in week w; fundPot(20 IMD) puts 6 IMD plus the stamp's share into thesisPool[w].

      1. After w ends: judge.requestJudging(w) (draws 0.5 IMD), the Intake delivers a ranking naming alice's thesis; judge.judgedSet(w) is true, thesisPool[w] = 5.53 IMD.
      2. warp to (w+1)*7 days + SWEEP_AFTER; anyone calls hook.sweep(2, w): succeeds, thesisPool[w] = 0.
      3. judge.payJudged(w): alice receives 0 instead of 2.765 IMD (50% of the pool). Expected: sweep(2, w) reverts for a judged week (or one with a live request), or payJudged pays before the pool can be swept. Proof: test/scratch/ThesisSweepBeforePay.t.sol.
    • lowAny wallet posts a note as class Attested, which the spec reserves for the oracle panelsrc/MarginaliaHook.sol:418

      Access control on a caller-chosen label. The router forwards NoteParams.class untouched (src/MarginaliaRouter.sol:187) and the hook only downgrades Traded to Declared and upgrades contract authors to Agent; class 3 (Attested) is accepted from anyone. SPEC.md section 3 defines Attested as a note posted by the IMD swarm panel through an Intake oracle.request whose callback is the hook, which this version does not implement.

      The class is stored on the note and emitted in NotePosted, so feeds and badges that trust it show a self-declared EOA note as a panel attestation. No on-chain funds depend on class, hence low.

      alice (an EOA) calls router.note(p, 10 IMD, 1, deadline) with p.class = 3 (Attested), p.x = MARG, targetBps 20000, horizon 7. hook.noteOf(id).class == 3. Expected: InvalidNote, or the class forced to Declared. test/scratch/SelfDeclaredAttested.t.sol passes on this code, confirming the stored class.

    • lowclaimDeposit(id, asImd = true) sells the author's MARG deposit with no minimum IMD outsrc/MarginaliaHook.sol:594

      Same swap primitive as finding 2 (unlockCallback ACT_SELL, price limit MIN_SQRT_PRICE + 1) exposed to a user action without a slippage parameter. A third party who sees the author's claimDeposit(id, true) in the mempool sandwiches it and the author receives less IMD than the deposit is worth; the author has no way to bound the outcome except choosing asImd = false.

      Low because the amount is one deposit (~0.5 IMD) and the attacker needs the mempool race, unlike finding 2 where the attacker picks the time.

      State: alice's note is Right with deposit 0.5 MARG. bob front-runs alice's claimDeposit(id, true) with a MARG sell that moves the pool price down 5%, alice's claim swaps 0.5 MARG at the depressed price (no minOut), bob buys back.

      Expected: a minImdOut parameter (or the claim paid as MARG only).

      Actual: alice receives ~5% less IMD.

  8. Audit economicsAgent #1444found 2 high, 4 medium, 3 low

    The findings file is in place at the repository root and the harness deliberately excludes it and test/scratch/ from git, so no tracked file changed. The review is complete.

    Review complete: 9 findings, 33 coverage rows, 2 proofs

    The findings are in .imd-findings.json. Nothing under src/ or any tracked file was modified. Every snippet and line was checked against the tree, and the two proof tests fail on the current code for the reason each finding states.

    High

    1. Leaderboard pool capturable with a self-made price venue. The hook prices a note from whatever address venue.ref names, with no factory check, liquidity floor or TWAP. Ten sybil wallets spent 10 IMD on notes about a worthless token priced by a 20-line fake pair, moved its reserves a day later, settled RIGHT with a weekly score of 3,050,115 against roughly 20,700 for an honest 2x call, and claimed the entire 1000 IMD weekly leaderboard pool via the 10% cap. Proof: test/scratch/ProofLeaderboardVenue.t.sol.
    2. Leaderboard claim still pays after the week was swept. sweep(1, w) rolls the unclaimed pool forward but claimLeaderboard(w) still computes and pays the share, so the same IMD is owed twice. After the sequence the hook held 95.1 IMD of claims against 100.1 IMD of pool obligations. Proof: test/scratch/ProofLateLeaderboardClaim.t.sol.

    Medium

    1. sweep(2, w) ignores a judged or pending week. A 5.53 IMD prize was rolled into the current week and payJudged then paid the ranked author 0.
    2. The judged allow list is the first 200 theses posted. 200 one-character theses cost 122 IMD and excluded a later real thesis from the panel entirely.
    3. The 20% writer-refund share is stranded. A single drip from a 100,000 IMD treasury put 400 IMD into a day's refund pool whose maximum payout was 0.5 IMD, with no exit path ever.
    4. sellPotMarg partial fill orphans MARG claims. The pot sale consumed 3.97 of 24.69 MARG at the range edge, set potMarg to 0, and left 20.7 MARG of untracked claims.

    Low

    1. convertForfeits sells the whole pot with no price bound. A 1M MARG front-run cut the pot's proceeds 17%, though fees made that specific sandwich unprofitable for the attacker.
    2. An unanswered week can be re-requested every 3 days by anyone. 16 draws sent 8 of 9.93 IMD to the Intake.
    3. Keeper reward of 0.01 IMD cannot pay for observation, so wrong calls void and deposits return. A noted sell with a throwaway 90-day call saved about 2% versus the quiet 3% fee.

    Coverage. All 32 listed entry points have a row, plus two invariant rows. The router's note, sellWithNote, both callbacks and all three init functions hold. The forfeit-sale sandwich lead from the Economic Security guide was downgraded to low after measuring fee friction. The Slither reentrancy and strict-equality leads on the router were traced and hold under the jobHash and v3Pending guards.

    • highLeaderboard pool (50% of every accrual, incl. the treasury drip) is taken by sybils pricing their calls on a venue they controlsrc/MarginaliaHook.sol:443

      A note's price venue is whatever p.venue names: for UniV2/UniV3 kinds PriceAdapters.priceInQuote calls getReserves()/slot0() on the raw address in venue.ref, and for UniV4 any pool id, with no factory check, no liquidity floor and no TWAP (the router authenticates trade venues against the canonical factories, the hook authenticates price venues against nothing). _postNote only requires p.x to have code. observe() re-reads the same venue and settle() scores _difficulty() from the author's own targetBps (uint32, up to 4.29e9 = 429,496x), horizon and IERC20(x).totalSupply() (attacker-minted, so tier 3).

      An author therefore deploys a token X and a 20-line contract returning reserves of their choosing, posts a BUY call '400,000x in 1 day' for ~1 IMD (0.1 IMD stamp, 0.5 IMD of MARG deposit that comes back on RIGHT), sets the reserves a day later, observes three times and settles RIGHT with a week score of 3,050,115 against ~20,700 for an honest 2x-in-7-days call. leaderboardShare caps a wallet at 10% of the week's pool, so ten such wallets take 100%.

      The leaderboard is half of every stamp, sell fee, forfeit and treasury drip, so this is the protocol's main payout being paid to whoever games it, at ~1 IMD per 10% of the pool.

      State: treasury holds 100,000 IMD; treasury.drip() puts 1000 IMD in leaderboardPool[week].

      Attacker: deploy ERC-20 X (1e9 supply) and FakePair{getReserves()->(1e18,2e18)}; from 10 wallets call router.note(NoteParams{x:X, venue:{UniV2, ref:bytes32(uint160(fakePair)), quote:IMD, xIsToken0:true}, side:Buy, targetBps:4_000_000_000, horizonDays:1, text:'x'}, 1e18, 1, now). +1 day: fakePair.set(1, 1e18); call hook.observe(id) for each id in 3 blocks >=20 apart; after SETTLE_WINDOW call hook.settle(id) -> status Right, weekScore = 3,050,115 each.

      After the week ends each wallet calls hook.claimLeaderboard(w) -> receives 100.05 IMD (the 10% cap), and claimDeposit(id,true) returns the deposit.

      Expected: a call priced on an unauthenticated, liquidity-free venue cannot score / cannot take the pool.

      Actual (test/scratch/ProofLeaderboardVenue.t.sol): ten wallets collect 1000.5 IMD for 10 IMD of notes.

    • highclaimLeaderboard still pays a week's share after sweep(1, week) rolled the whole unclaimed pool forward: the same IMD is owed twice and the hook's claims stop covering its poolssrc/MarginaliaHook.sol:776

      sweep(1, epoch) moves leaderboardPool[epoch] - leaderboardSwept[epoch] into the current week's pool and sets leaderboardSwept[epoch] = leaderboardPool[epoch], but neither leaderboardPool[epoch] nor the per-wallet eligibility changes. claimLeaderboard(w) only checks w < _week() and leaderboardClaimed[w][msg.sender], then computes the share from leaderboardPool[w] and burns that many IMD claims (_unlock(ACT_PAY, ...)).

      So after the sweep every wallet with a positive score in week w can still claim its full share, while the same IMD has already been credited to the current week's pool. The hook's ERC-6909 IMD balance then falls short of SUM(pools): whoever claims last from any pool (a thesis winner via payJudged, a leaderboard or refund claimant) hits burn with insufficient balance and is never paid.

      The kind-0 and kind-2 sweeps zero their pool so late claimants get nothing; kind 1 is the asymmetric one.

      Week w: alice posts a +10%/1-day BUY call on MARG, fundPot(100 ether) (50 IMD to leaderboardPool[w]); bob's buy moves the price >10%; alice's call is observed x3 and settled RIGHT -> leaderboardShare(w, alice) = 5.005 IMD (10% cap).

      Claims == pools (100.1 IMD).

      Warp to (w+1)*7 days + 28 days, anyone calls hook.sweep(1, w) -> leaderboardPool[current] += 50.05, leaderboardSwept[w] = 50.05; claims still == pools.

      Now alice calls hook.claimLeaderboard(w).

      Expected: revert (her share was swept) or 0.

      Actual: she is paid 5.005 IMD; hook IMD claims = 95.095 while the pools still owe 100.1 (leaderboardSwept[w] is now 55.055 > leaderboardPool[w]).

      Test: test/scratch/ProofLateLeaderboardClaim.t.sol.

    • mediumsweep(2, week) ignores a judged (or pending) week: the thesis prize is rolled into the current week and payJudged then pays the ranked authors nothingsrc/MarginaliaHook.sol:813

      The hook has no view of the judge's judgedSet/requestOf, and sweep(2, epoch) only checks the time ((epoch+1)*7 days + SWEEP_AFTER). requestJudging has no upper time bound and the Intake answers asynchronously, so a week can be judged on or after day 28 after its end, or judged earlier and simply not paid yet (judge.payJudged is a separate permissionless call that nothing forces).

      In that window anyone calls sweep(2, w): thesisPool[w] goes to the current week, and the later judge.payJudged(w) -> hook.payJudged(w, top) reads pool = 0, pays 0 to the three winners and marks paid[w]/judgedPaid[w], so the prize is gone for good. The README/NatSpec describe the kind-2 sweep as for 'a quiet week'; the code does not restrict it to one.

      Week w: alice posts a thesis, fundPot(20 ether).

      After the week ends: judge.requestJudging(w) (draws 0.5 IMD), Intake delivers a ranking [thesis] -> judgedSet[w] = true, thesisPool[w] = 5.53 IMD.

      Warp to (w+1)*7 days + 28 days; bob calls hook.sweep(2, w) -> thesisPool[w] = 0, thesisPool[current] += 5.53.

      Then judge.payJudged(w).

      Expected: alice receives 50% of 5.53 IMD (the ranking's first slot).

      Actual: alice receives 0, judgedPaid[w] = true, and the 5.53 IMD will be paid to the current week's winners.

      Same outcome if the request is still pending (within REQUEST_TTL) when the sweep lands.

      Verified in test/scratch/Explore.t.sol::testSweepStealsJudgedPrize (prize 5.53e18, paid 0).

    • mediumJudging is first-come: 200 early junk theses (122 IMD) exclude every other thesis of the week from the panel, leaving the spammer the only candidate for the 30% thesis poolsrc/MarginaliaJudge.sol:124

      questionBody puts only the first MAX_JUDGED (200) ids of hook.thesesOfWeek(week) into guards.allow, and the hook records at most MAX_DAY_NOTES (256) thesis ids per week (weekTheses[_week()].push), in posting order. There is no per-author limit and a thesis costs one note (0.1 IMD stamp + 0.5 IMD of MARG deposit, min ~0.61 IMD).

      Right after a week starts an attacker posts 200 one-character theses (measured: 122 IMD and 98M gas), including one or three actually argued ones; every thesis anyone else posts that week is absent from the allow list, so the panel can only rank the attacker's. The week's thesis pool (30% of all stamps, sell fees, forfeits and treasury drips: 4,200 IMD/week with a 100,000 IMD treasury) is then paid 50/30/20 to the attacker's own wallets by payJudged.

      30% of the forfeited junk deposits also flow back into the same pool. The exclusion alone (honest theses unjudgeable for 122 IMD) is the griefing form.

      Start of week w: spammer calls router.note(NoteParams{x:MARG, venue:<pool>, side:Buy, targetBps:0, horizonDays:0, text:'x'}, 0.61e18, 1, now) 200 times (122 IMD total, ~98M gas). alice then posts a real thesis (id 201). judge.questionBody(w) does not contain id 201 (hook.thesesOfWeek(w).length == 201, allow list has ids 1..200).

      After the week: requestJudging(w) sends that body; whatever the panel ranks, onOracleResult can only store the spammer's ids; payJudged(w) pays them the pool.

      Expected: a week's judged set is not controlled by whoever posts first/most.

      Verified in test/scratch/Explore2.t.sol::testEarlyJunkThesesExcludeEveryoneElse.

    • medium20% of every accrual is stranded: the writer-refund pool can pay at most 0.1 IMD x notes/day (<= 25.6 IMD/day) and the surplus rolls forward foreversrc/MarginaliaHook.sol:792

      _accrue sends 20% of every accrual (stamps, sell fees, converted forfeits and the treasury's 2%/day drip via fundPot) into refundPool[today].

      The only outflow is claimRefund, capped at one STAMP (0.1 IMD) per non-retracted note, and notesPerDay is capped at 256 by weekTheses/MAX_DAY_NOTES semantics only for theses but in practice bounded by gas and the per-day count, so a day can pay out at most notesPerDay x 0.1 IMD. sweep(0, day) moves the remainder into another day's refund pool, which has the same cap.

      Any day whose accruals exceed ~128 IMD (a treasury above ~6,400 IMD drips more than that) adds surplus that no code path can ever pay to anyone: with a 100,000 IMD treasury the first drip alone puts 400 IMD into the day's refund pool against 0.5 IMD payable to that day's 5 notes. Over the treasury's life ~20% of it (minus a few IMD/day) accumulates in refund pools with no exit, contradicting 'everything feeds a pot that pays'.

      imd.transfer(treasury, 100_000 ether); treasury.drip(); -> refundPool[today] = 400 IMD.

      Five notes that day -> notesPerDay[today] = 5, max claimable = 5 x 0.1 = 0.5 IMD; 399.5 IMD stays.

      After 28 days sweep(0, today) moves it to a later day with the same 0.1-per-note cap.

      Expected: unclaimed refund surplus becomes payable somewhere (e.g. to the leaderboard/thesis pools).

      Actual: it is never payable.

      Verified in test/scratch/Explore.t.sol::testRefundPoolStrands (pool 400.1e18, max payable 0.5e18).

    • mediumsellPotMarg subtracts the requested amount from potMarg but burns only what the swap consumed: a partial fill orphans the rest of the pot's MARG claimssrc/MarginaliaHook.sol:721

      sellPotMarg (called by judge.convertForfeits() with the entire potMarg) does potMarg -= amount and then _unlock(ACT_SELL, ...), whose callback swaps exact-input -int256(amount) with the price limit at MIN/MAX_SQRT_PRICE and burns uint256(uint128(-margDelta)), the MARG actually consumed.

      When the bound pool runs out of IMD-side liquidity before amount is sold (the pool's price sits at the bottom of the LP range, which is exactly where a single-sided MARG-seeded launch pool sits at or below its launch price), the swap fills partially: fewer MARG claims are burned than potMarg was reduced by, and the difference stays as hook-owned ERC-6909 MARG claims that no variable tracks and no function can move.

      The same mismatch exists for claimDeposit(id, true) (the author silently loses the unfilled part of the deposit).

      Fixture pool (10M liquidity over ticks -6000..6000); 50 retracted notes -> potMarg = 24.687e18 MARG, hook MARG claims = 24.687e18.

      Sell MARG until the price is just above the range bottom (0.5488 IMD). judge.convertForfeits(): the swap consumes 3.974e18 MARG (2.154e18 IMD out) and stops at the range edge.

      Expected: potMarg = 20.713e18 (unsold) or the call reverts.

      Actual: potMarg = 0 while the hook still holds 20.713e18 MARG claims that nothing references.

    • lowconvertForfeits market-sells the whole forfeited pot with no price bound and at anyone's chosen momentsrc/MarginaliaJudge.sol:93

      sellPotMarg is judge-only 'so the timing is predictable', but convertForfeits() is permissionless, sells all of potMarg in one exact-input swap with the limit at MIN_SQRT_PRICE+1 and no minimum output, and books whatever IMD comes out into the current week's pools. The pot therefore sells at whatever price the pool shows in that block: a front-run dump or simply a thin pool lets a back-runner buy the pot's MARG back cheaply.

      With the hook's own 3% sell fee and the 1.25% LP fee the front-run leg is expensive, so profitability needs potMarg large relative to liquidity; the pot's loss itself is unconditional.

      Fixture pool, potMarg = 98.75 MARG. convertForfeits() alone yields 97.52 IMD.

      Instead: bob sells 1,000,000 MARG (price -17%), calls judge.convertForfeits() -> the pot receives 80.78 IMD (16.74 IMD less), bob buys back.

      At this pot size bob's fees (50,487 MARG) exceed the gain, so the pot loses but bob does not profit; the pot's loss grows linearly with potMarg while the attacker's cost does not.

      Expected: a bound on the sale price (e.g. a max deviation from the pre-trade price, or bounded chunks).

      Verified in test/scratch/Explore.t.sol::testSandwichConvertForfeits.

      When the Intake never calls back (refused body, split panel, failed callback) requestJudging(day) may be repeated after REQUEST_TTL, and each repeat calls hook.drawForJudging(day, price), which only requires thesisPool[day] >= 2 IMD. Nothing limits the number of repeats, nothing lets the week roll forward until sweep(2) at day 28, and the caller is anyone.

      A week whose question the panel keeps splitting on (e.g. a week stuffed with junk theses) pays the Intake every 3 days until the pool is under 2 IMD.

      Week w with one thesis and thesisPool[w] = 9.93 IMD, Intake never answers.

      Call judge.requestJudging(w), warp 3 days, repeat: 16 draws succeed over 48 days; thesisPool[w] ends at 1.93 IMD, 8 IMD went to the Intake.

    • lowKeeper reward (2% of a 0.5 IMD deposit = 0.01 IMD) cannot pay for observing, so wrong calls void and their deposits return; a throwaway note turns the 3% sell fee into 1% + 0.1 IMDsrc/MarginaliaHook.sol:606

      Resolving a call needs three observe transactions in a 6-hour window plus settle; the only payment to a third party is 2% of a forfeited deposit (0.01 IMD worth of MARG), well under mainnet gas for four transactions, and nothing at all when the call is right or voids. Authors observe their own right calls; nobody observes wrong ones, which settle VoidNoData and return the deposit fee-free.

      The 'talk-or-pay' leg of sellWithNote therefore has no 'pay': a seller attaches any SELL call with a 90-day horizon and pays 1% + 0.1 IMD instead of 3%, with the 0.5 IMD deposit coming back.

      bob sells 10,000 MARG.

      Quiet path plain.swap: 9,569.30 IMD out.

      Noted path router.sellWithNote(NoteParams{x:MARG, side:Sell, targetBps:9000, horizonDays:90, text:'filler'}, 10_000e18, 1, now): 9,766.02 IMD out (+196.7 IMD) and 0.5 MARG deposited.

      90 days + 6 h later with no observations hook.settle(id) -> VoidNoData; claimDeposit(id, true) returns 0.4928 IMD.

      The keeper reward that would motivate an observer is 0.01 MARG.

  9. Write foundry testsAgent #10648 files changedsent back

    Added 46 unit/fuzz tests and four stateful invariants. Contracts and configuration remain unchanged.

    forge build and forge test pass: 87 passed, fork suite skipped without RPC. Invariants exercised 16,384 randomized calls.

    Reported one medium defect with a reproduced failing proof in .imd-findings.json: v2 transfer-tax inputs revert because the router forwards more tokens than it receives.

    • mediumV2 trades with transfer-tax input tokens revert before reaching the pairsrc/MarginaliaRouter.sol:349

      The companion is intended to trade arbitrary ERC-20 tokens, and _tradeV2 measures the actual amount received by the pair to support transfer taxes. However, _run first pulls x.amountIn from the user without measuring the router balance increase, then _tradeV2 forwards the original gross x.amountIn. With a transfer-tax input and an otherwise empty router this exceeds the router balance, so the whole trade-and-note transaction reverts.

      The pair-side actualIn measurement is never reached. The input-leg budget should be the amount actually received from this caller, separately from the note IMD and any preexisting balance.

      Run forge test --match-path test/scratch/RouterTaxedInputProof.t.sol -vv after restoring the proof below at that path.

      The standalone test creates a real local v4 PoolManager and note pool, a v2 pair model enforcing stored reserves and fee-adjusted constant product, an EIP-1167 router clone, and a token charging 10% on transfers.

      A trader approves and sells 100 tokens via X_V2 with a Sell thesis about that token, 10 IMD for the note, minOut=1 and deadline=block.timestamp.

      Expected: debit 100 from the trader, route the 90 received (81 reach the pair), complete the trade/note, and retain no caller funds.

      Actual: _run receives 90, _tradeV2 attempts to forward 100, and the test fails with "insufficient gross token balance".

      The failure was reproduced locally; the proof intentionally asserts successful supported trading and is not included in the passing test suite.

  10. Audit judgeAgent #158found 1 critical, 1 high, 5 medium, 7 low

    Review complete. The findings file is at .imd-findings.json in the repository root, with 14 findings and a 33-row coverage record answering all 31 listed entry points plus tradeAndNote and the manifest.

    What I kept, after reproducing each against the code

    • Critical (1): a note's price venue is the author's unchecked input. _postNote stores any contract answering slot0()/getReserves() or any v4 pool id, and observe/settle read it, so an author resolves their own call RIGHT with the maximal difficulty score and takes the week's leaderboard pool. My proof test/scratch/ProofFakeVenue.t.sol fails on this code: share 50.005 IMD against expected 0. Three specialists reported this; merged into one.
    • High (2): sweep(1, w) rolls the leaderboard pool forward but claimLeaderboard still pays from the untouched leaderboardPool[w]. Proof test/scratch/ProofSweepDoublePay.t.sol fails: the hook holds 90.18 IMD against 95.19 IMD of live pools. Four specialists reported this; merged.
    • Medium (5): sweep(2) empties a judged or pending week before payJudged (confirmed by execution, winners paid 0); the hook constructor silently accepts codeless implementation addresses (the specialist's proof fails as stated, kept as its proof); first 200 theses by posting order control the judged set; 20% of accruals strand in the refund pool; sellPotMarg/claimDeposit(asImd) accept partial fills and orphan MARG claims.
    • Low (7): unbounded ACT_SELL sales via convertForfeits and claimDeposit (two specialist findings merged, recalibrated to low); self-declared Attested class and the MARG-buy postBalance gap (both confirmed by execution); unbounded re-requests bleeding to the Intake; the threshold boundary that blocks retries; the keeper economics that make noted sells cheaper with nothing at risk; fee-on-transfer inputs reverting on v2/v3 legs (the tester's proof fails as stated, recalibrated to low since it is a revert, not a loss).

    Dropped or merged: nothing failed to reproduce. Duplicates across flow, economics, math and permissions were merged to five findings (venue, sweep(1), sweep(2), Attested class, unbounded sell).

    Not found by the specialists: nothing new that met the bar for a finding. The launch itself is sound for this deployment model: the three implementations have argument-less constructors with no external calls, runtimes of 14,052 / 10,334 / 1,427 bytes, and a schema-valid launch.json. The project suite passes with 87 tests.

    Caveat: one via-IR quirk affected my first proof drafts. block.number was hoisted inside the test loop, so vm.roll repeated the same block. Both proofs now use vm.getBlockNumber() and fail for the stated reasons.

    • criticalHook prices a note on whatever contract the author names as its venue: a self-priced call resolves RIGHT at will and takes the week's leaderboard poolsrc/MarginaliaHook.sol:443

      Merged from audit_flow (2accb7de), audit_economics (17cab1d2) and audit_math (1e1cf71a); reproduced. _postNote stores p.venue from the router's hookData unchecked (line 428) and reads postPrice from it (line 443); observe (line 498) re-reads the same venue. PriceAdapters.priceInQuote (src/PriceAdapters.sol:38, 42) calls slot0() / getReserves() on the bare address in venue.ref for VenueKind.UniV3 / UniV2 and getSlot0 on any pool id for UniV4.

      Nothing compares the venue with the canonical factories (the router's 2961f6c1 fix covers only the X trade leg), with p.x, or with a liquidity floor. X only needs code and a totalSupply, so the author also sets the market-cap tier (3). settle then scores _difficulty from the author's own targetBps (uint32, up to 2^32-1), horizon (1 day) and tier: about 3.07e6 against ~1,400 for an honest +10%/30-day call.

      A positive weekScore entitles the wallet to leaderboardPool[w] pro rata, capped at 10% per address; ten sybil wallets take the whole pool, which is 50% of every stamp, sell fee, converted forfeit and treasury drip.

      Cost: one 0.1 IMD stamp per wallet (the deposit returns on RIGHT, the stamp is itself refundable from the day's refund pool). Residual even after a factory check: a canonical v4/v3/v2 pool the author created and is the only LP of, or a thin pool manipulated in the observation block, gives the same control, so the fix should also require the venue's currencies to be (X, quote) and weigh a liquidity floor or the univ4-spot recipe the SPEC mentions.

      Fix that keeps the design: at _postNote require a UniV3/UniV2 venue to equal factory.getPool(x, quote, fee) / getPair(x, quote) with xIsToken0 matching, and a UniV4 venue to be given as a PoolKey whose id equals venue.ref and whose currencies are (x, quote); or refuse UniV3/UniV2 venues in v1.

      State: fresh PoolManager, MARG/IMD pool with liquidity, hook bound; funder calls hook.fundPot(1000e18) so leaderboardPool[w] = 500e18.

      Attacker deploys ERC-20 X (supply 1e30) and FakeV3Venue whose slot0() returns a settable sqrtPriceX96 = 2^96 (1 IMD per X).

      1. attacker: router.note({x: X, venue: {UniV3, bytes32(uint160(fake)), quote: IMD, xIsToken0: true}, side: Buy, targetBps: 4294967295, horizonDays: 1, class: Declared, text: 'X moons'}, 10e18, 1, now) -> note 1 posted, postPrice 1e18.

      2. attacker: fake.set(2^96 * 1000) (price 1e24).

      3. at horizonEnd(1): hook.observe(1) three times, 25 blocks apart.

      4. at horizonEnd + 6h + 1: hook.settle(1).

      Expected: a venue that is not a Uniswap pool of X is refused at posting, or the note cannot score.

      Actual: status Right, weekScore[w][attacker] = 3,070,653, leaderboardShare(w, attacker) = 50.005e18 IMD (the 10% cap of a pool the attacker never funded), claimable with claimLeaderboard(w) once the week ends; claimDeposit(1, false) returns the deposit. forge test --match-path test/scratch/ProofFakeVenue.t.sol fails: 'a self-supplied price venue entitles the author to the leaderboard pool: 50005000000000000000 != 0'.

    • highsweep(1, week) rolls the unclaimed leaderboard pool forward but claimLeaderboard still pays from it: the same IMD is paid twice and the hook's claims stop covering its poolssrc/MarginaliaHook.sol:776

      Merged from audit_flow (ffdf1939), audit_economics (278f4a6e), audit_math (39b0ef44) and audit_permissions (fb597398); reproduced.

      The kind-0 and kind-2 sweeps zero the swept pool, but the kind-1 branch (lines 818-820) only sets leaderboardSwept[epoch] = leaderboardPool[epoch] and adds the remainder to leaderboardPool[_week()], because leaderboardShare needs leaderboardPool[w] as its pro-rata base. claimLeaderboard(w) checks only w < _week() and leaderboardClaimed[w][msg.sender], computes the share from the untouched leaderboardPool[w] and never reads leaderboardSwept.

      Every wallet with a positive weekScore[w] that had not claimed before the sweep is therefore still paid in full afterwards, while the same IMD is already booked to the current week's pool and will be paid there too. Both payments burn the hook's ERC-6909 IMD claims, which back every pool: after the double payment the sum of live pools exceeds the claims, and whoever claims last (claimLeaderboard, claimRefund, payJudged or drawForJudging) reverts in poolManager.burn.

      A second sweep(1, w) after such a claim reverts with an arithmetic underflow (leaderboardSwept > leaderboardPool).

      Permissionless and free: any wallet that scored in a week and waits 28 days collects its share after the pool has been rolled forward.

      Fix: zero leaderboardPool[epoch] in the kind-1 branch (claimLeaderboard then returns 0 -> NothingToClaim), or make claimLeaderboard revert once leaderboardSwept[w] >= leaderboardPool[w], or roll forward only what no wallet can still claim.

      State: week w, alice and bob each post a +10%/1-day BUY call on MARG (router.note, 10 IMD each); funder calls hook.fundPot(100e18) -> leaderboardPool[w] = 50.1e18, hook IMD claims 100.2e18 = sum of pools; funder buys MARG with 1.5M IMD so both calls are RIGHT; observe x3 and settle both (weekScore > 0 for both).

      1. at (w+1)*7d+1: alice calls claimLeaderboard(w) -> paid 5.01e18 (10% cap).

      2. at (w+1)*7d + 28d: anyone calls sweep(1, w) -> leaderboardPool[current] += 45.09e18, leaderboardSwept[w] = 50.1e18, leaderboardPool[w] still 50.1e18.

      3. bob calls claimLeaderboard(w).

      Expected: revert NothingToClaim (his share is now part of the current week's pool), or the sweep left his share behind.

      Actual: bob is paid 5.01e18.

      Hook IMD claims after: 90.18e18; live pools: leaderboardPool[current] 45.09e18 + thesisPool[w] 30.06e18 + refundPool[day] 20.04e18 = 95.19e18 > 90.18e18. forge test --match-path test/scratch/ProofSweepDoublePay.t.sol fails: 'the pools promise more IMD than the hook holds: 90180000000000000000 < 95190000000000000000'.

    • mediumsweep(2, week) can zero a judged or pending week's thesis pool before payJudged runs: the oracle was paid, the ranking stored, and the winners receive nothingsrc/MarginaliaHook.sol:813

      Merged from audit_flow (8458b1a2), audit_economics (e075ec4d), audit_math (dce3ad7b) and audit_permissions (c9c9d71b); reproduced by tracing and by a scratch test against the fixture (thesisPool after the draw 5.53e18; after sweep(2, w) and judge.payJudged(w) the ranked author received 0 and judgedPaid[w] is set).

      The NatSpec restricts kind 2 to 'a week with no thesis, under the judge threshold, or never judged', but the branch checks only block.timestamp >= (epoch+1)*7 days + SWEEP_AFTER.

      The hook has no view of the judge's requestOf/judgedSet, and judgedPaid[w] is set only by payJudged, a separate permissionless call with no deadline and no reward. MarginaliaJudge.requestJudging has no upper time bound either and the Intake answers asynchronously, so a week can be judged on or after day 28, or judged earlier and simply not paid yet.

      In that window anyone calls sweep(2, w): thesisPool[w] becomes 0 and is added to the current week; the later judge.payJudged(w) -> hook.payJudged(w, top) computes shares of 0, pays three zero transfers, sets judgedPaid[w] and paid[w], and the week can never be paid again. The 0.5 IMD drawn for the oracle bought nothing and the prize goes to the current week's winners (which the sweeper can be).

      Fix: track drawnForJudging[w] in drawForJudging (cleared by payJudged) and make the kind-2 branch revert for such a week; or have payJudged carry its own roll-forward and the sweep skip weeks the judge has requested.

      State: alice posts the week's only thesis (router.note with targetBps 0, 10 IMD); funder calls hook.fundPot(20e18) -> thesisPool[w] = 6.03e18.

      1. after the week ends: judge.requestJudging(w) draws 0.5e18 (thesisPool[w] = 5.53e18); the Intake delivers judge.onOracleResult(reqId, attestation ranking [thesisId], sig) -> judgedSet[w] = true.

      2. nobody calls judge.payJudged(w); at (w+1)*7d + 28d anyone calls hook.sweep(2, w) -> succeeds, thesisPool[w] = 0, thesisPool[current] += 5.53e18.

      3. judge.payJudged(w) -> hook.payJudged(w, [thesisId, 0, 0]).

      Expected: alice receives 50% of 5.53e18 = 2.765e18 IMD (and sweep(2, w) reverts while the week is judged and unpaid).

      Actual: alice receives 0, judgedPaid[w] = true and paid[w] = true, so nothing can pay her later.

      Same outcome when the request is still pending (within REQUEST_TTL) when the sweep lands.

    • mediumHook constructor accepts companion implementation addresses that hold no code: the clones' init calls succeed silently and the hook launches with a permanently dead router, judge and treasurysrc/MarginaliaHook.sol:204

      From audit_flow (c641acdd); reproduced by running its proof. Clones.clone only checks that CREATE returned a non-zero address and never that the implementation has code. The clone is a 45-byte EIP-1167 proxy, so Solidity's extcodesize check on t.init / r.init / j.init passes, the proxy delegatecalls to an address without code, the EVM returns success with empty return data, and because init returns nothing the call is accepted.

      The constructor completes, the factory initializes the pool, beforeInitialize binds it, and the hook is live with three companions that revert on every call (router.note, treasury.drip, judge.requestJudging). With no owner or upgrade the only remedy is a new launch, while the pool keeps trading under the hook.

      This is the state of the tree today: src/MarginaliaImpls.sol holds rehearsal placeholders 0x...a0001/2/3 that this companions launch must replace, and the hook launch's protected rehearsal deploys on a chain where those addresses are empty, so it passes with or without the real addresses. The constructor already requires code at poolManager_ and token_, so the same check on the three implementations adds no rehearsal constraint.

      Fix: require(MarginaliaImpls.ROUTER_IMPL.code.length > 0 && JUDGE_IMPL.code.length > 0 && TREASURY_IMPL.code.length > 0) in the constructor, and/or have each init return a value the constructor checks so a codeless delegatecall's empty return data reverts.

      State: a PoolManager and the Marginalia token exist; MarginaliaImpls.ROUTER_IMPL, JUDGE_IMPL and TREASURY_IMPL have no code (as in the tree).

      Expected: the constructor reverts ('configuration required'), as it does for a codeless pool manager or token.

      Actual: the hook deploys (0x7A49...A0cC in the proof), hook.router() is a 45-byte proxy to 0x...a0001, and router.note(...), treasury.drip() and judge.requestJudging(w) revert for ever. forge test --match-path test/scratch/ProofCodelessImpls.t.sol fails: 'the hook deployed with codeless companion implementations: 0x7A49A3332eE9764b33eA029f347FE6FAA5e8A0cC != 0x0000000000000000000000000000000000000000'.

    • mediumJudging is first-come: 200 early junk theses exclude every later thesis of the week from the panel, leaving the spammer the only candidate for the 30% thesis poolsrc/MarginaliaJudge.sol:124

      From audit_economics (48d8e7d7); reproduced by tracing. _postNote appends a thesis id to weekTheses[_week()] in posting order up to MAX_DAY_NOTES (256) (src/MarginaliaHook.sol:441), and _allowList puts only the first MAX_JUDGED (200) of them into the request's guards.allow. There is no per-author limit and a thesis costs one note (0.1 IMD stamp plus a 0.5 IMD-equivalent MARG deposit, minimum input about 0.61 IMD).

      An attacker who posts 200 theses right after a week starts (about 122 IMD, three of them actually argued) makes every later thesis absent from the allow list, so the panel can only rank the attacker's and onOracleResult can only store the attacker's ids.

      The week's thesis pool (30% of all stamps, sell fees, forfeits and treasury drips; with a 100,000 IMD treasury about 4,200 IMD a week) is then paid 50/30/20 to the attacker's wallets by payJudged; 30% of the attacker's own forfeited deposits also flows back into that pool. The exclusion alone (honest theses unjudgeable for 122 IMD) is the griefing form.

      Fix options: cap theses per author per week, select the judged set by something other than posting order (for example the 200 with the most resolved children or the largest deposits), or let the Intake body carry all ids in several requests.

      Start of week w: spammer calls router.note({x: MARG, venue: the MARG pool, side: Buy, targetBps: 0, horizonDays: 0, class: Declared, text: 'x'}, 0.61e18, 1, now) 200 times from one or more wallets. alice then posts a real thesis (id 201). judge.questionBody(w) lists ids 1..200 only: hook.thesesOfWeek(w).length == 201 and the allow list has 200 entries.

      After the week: requestJudging(w) sends that body; whatever the panel ranks, onOracleResult stores only ids the panel was allowed to name, all the spammer's; payJudged(w) pays the pool to them.

      Expected: a week's judged set is not controlled by whoever posts first or most.

      Actual: it is.

      From audit_economics (29df5bb3); reproduced by tracing. _accrue sends amount - lb - th (20%) of every accrual, including the treasury's 2%/day drip through fundPot, into refundPool[today]. The only outflow is claimRefund, which pays each non-retracted note of that day at most one STAMP (0.1 IMD), so a day can pay out at most notesPerDay x 0.1 IMD. sweep(0, day) moves the remainder into another day's refund pool, which has the same cap.

      Any day whose accruals exceed about 128 IMD (a treasury above about 6,400 IMD drips more than that) adds a surplus no code path can ever pay to anyone: with a 100,000 IMD treasury the first drip alone puts 400 IMD into the day's refund pool against 0.5 IMD payable to that day's five notes. Over the treasury's life about a fifth of it accumulates as hook-owned IMD claims with no exit, which contradicts the brief's 'everything feeds a pot that pays'.

      Fix: have sweep(0, day) (or claimRefund) route the part above notesPerDay x STAMP into the current week's leaderboard and thesis pools instead of another refund day.

      imd.transfer(treasury, 100_000e18); treasury.drip() -> fundPot(2_000e18) -> refundPool[today] = 400e18.

      Five notes that day -> notesPerDay[today] = 5; each claimRefund pays min(400e18/5, 0.1e18) = 0.1e18, so at most 0.5e18 leaves.

      After 28 days sweep(0, today) moves 399.5e18 into refundPool[newDay], where the same 0.1-per-note cap applies.

      Expected: the unclaimed refund surplus becomes payable somewhere (leaderboard or thesis pools).

      Actual: refundPool balances grow without bound and are never payable.

    • mediumsellPotMarg subtracts the requested amount from potMarg but burns only what the swap consumed: a partial fill orphans the rest of the pot's MARG claims (same for claimDeposit asImd)src/MarginaliaHook.sol:721

      From audit_economics (5a2740a2); reproduced by tracing v4's swap loop. sellPotMarg (called by judge.convertForfeits() with the entire potMarg) does potMarg -= amount and then _unlock(ACT_SELL, ...), whose callback swaps exact-input -int256(amount) with the price limit at MIN/MAX_SQRT_PRICE and burns uint256(uint128(-margDelta)), the MARG the pool actually consumed (line 876).

      When the bound pool runs out of IMD-side liquidity before amount is sold, v4's Pool.swap loop walks the empty tick words to the price limit and returns with amountSpecifiedRemaining != 0: a partial fill, which the hook accepts as long as some IMD came out (line 875 only rejects a zero fill). Fewer MARG claims are burned than potMarg was reduced by; the difference stays as hook-owned ERC-6909 MARG claims that no variable tracks and no function can move.

      A single-sided launch pool whose price sits at the bottom of the LP range (at or below launch price, where a MARG-only seeded pool starts) is exactly this state. The same mismatch exists for claimDeposit(id, true): the author's deposit is set to 0 and the unfilled part is silently lost.

      Fix: in ACT_SELL compare the consumed MARG with amount and revert PartialFill (or return the unsold part to potMarg / the author's deposit).

      State: MARG/IMD pool with liquidity in ticks -6000..6000; 50 retracted notes -> potMarg = 24.687e18 MARG, hook MARG claims = 24.687e18.

      Sell MARG through any router until the price is just above the range bottom (about 0.5488 IMD per MARG), so little IMD remains in range. judge.convertForfeits(): the swap consumes 3.974e18 MARG (2.154e18 IMD out) and stops at the range edge.

      Expected: potMarg = 20.713e18 (the unsold part) or the call reverts PartialFill.

      Actual: potMarg = 0 while the hook still holds 20.713e18 MARG claims that nothing references.

    • lowACT_SELL has no minimum output: convertForfeits lets anyone dump the whole forfeited pot at a moment of their choosing, and claimDeposit(asImd) sells the author's deposit unboundedsrc/MarginaliaJudge.sol:93

      Merged from audit_economics (391dd47b, low), audit_permissions (2c3b9a86, medium) and audit_permissions (1f203f45, low); reproduced by tracing, recalibrated to low. sellPotMarg is judge-only 'so the timing is predictable', but convertForfeits() is a permissionless, unconditional pass-through that sells all of potMarg in one exact-input swap with the limit at MIN_SQRT_PRICE+1 and no minimum IMD out, and books whatever comes out into the current week's pools.

      The caller therefore picks the moment and the size: sell MARG into the pool, call convertForfeits so the pot dumps at the depressed price, buy back in the same transaction.

      The hook's 3% quiet sell fee and the 1.25% LP fee make the attacker's own margin thin (the permissions specialist measured +0.049 MARG for the attacker and a 5% to 18% loss for the pools, more for an attacker who is also the LP), but the pot's loss is unconditional and grows with potMarg. claimDeposit(id, true) uses the same primitive for a user action without a slippage parameter, so a mempool sandwich takes part of a ~0.5 IMD deposit.

      Fix: bound the sale (a maximum deviation from a recent price, a minimum IMD out derived from it, or bounded chunks) and give claimDeposit a minImdOut.

      State: MARG/IMD pool with 2,000e18 liquidity at 1 MARG = 1 IMD (ticks -6000..6000); potMarg about 60 MARG from 120 retracted calls; attacker holds 10,000 MARG and 10,000 IMD.

      A (alone): judge.convertForfeits() -> pools receive 59.88 IMD.

      B (attacker, one transaction): sell 50 MARG through any router -> judge.convertForfeits() -> pools receive 56.92 IMD -> buy MARG back with the IMD.

      The pools got 2.96 IMD (5%) less than in A; at a 200 MARG sandwich 49.26 IMD (-18%).

      Expected: the pot's conversion is bounded or its cadence is not the caller's to pick.

      Actual: unbounded, any caller, any time.

    • lowAny wallet posts a note with class Attested (3) without any attestation; only Traded is downgraded when unprovensrc/MarginaliaHook.sol:418

      Merged from audit_flow (c5c9a528) and audit_permissions (7221c8b2); reproduced by a scratch test against the fixture (an EOA's note with class 3 is stored with class 3).

      The router forwards NoteParams.class untouched (src/MarginaliaRouter.sol:187, 230) and _postNote only downgrades Traded to Declared when xResult == 0 and forces Agent for contract authors (lines 420-422); class 3 passes through although nothing in the hook ever receives or verifies an attestation for a note (SPEC section 3 reserves Attested for the IMD swarm panel through an Intake request, which this version does not implement).

      The class is stored on the note and emitted in NotePosted, so feeds and badges that trust it show a self-declared EOA note as a panel attestation. No funds depend on class.

      Fix: treat class Attested as Declared (as Traded is) until the attested path exists, or revert InvalidNote.

      alice (an EOA): router.note({x: MARG, venue: the MARG pool, side: Buy, targetBps: 20000, horizonDays: 7, class: 3, text: '2x'}, 10e18, 1, now).

      Actual: hook.noteOf(id).class == 3 and NotePosted is emitted with class 3.

    • lowHold rule for a BUY note about MARG posted through note() reads the author's balance before the bought MARG is delivered, so selling the whole purchase never breaks the callsrc/MarginaliaHook.sol:444

      From audit_flow (8aa4fa4a); reproduced by a scratch test against the fixture: alice held 100,000e18 MARG, the note bought 9.28e18 MARG, noteOf(id).postBalance == 100,000e18 while her balance after the call is 100,009.28e18. postBalance is read inside afterSwap, before the router's manager.take(receiveCurrency, job.payer, received) (src/MarginaliaRouter.sol:250) delivers the bought MARG to the author.

      For a note whose X is MARG itself (the common 'note on the pool you just bought') the recorded post-trade balance excludes the purchase, so the author can sell every token the note bought and still satisfy balance >= postBalance at every observation, while the SPEC's hold rule ('a BUY note's balance below post-trade at any observation -> VOID_SOLD') intends the position to be held.

      1. router.note({x: MARG, venue: MARG pool, side: Buy, targetBps: 11000, horizonDays: 1, ...}, 10e18, 1, now) -> she receives about 9.28 MARG; hook.noteOf(id).postBalance == 100,000e18 (not 100,009.28e18).

      2. alice sells the 9.28 MARG at once through any router.

      3. bob buys MARG with 1.5M IMD; at horizonEnd observe x3, then settle.

      Expected: VoidSold (the position was sold).

    • lowAn unanswered week can be re-requested every 3 days by anyone, draining its thesis pool to the Intake 0.5 IMD at a timesrc/MarginaliaJudge.sol:174

      From audit_economics (29b722db); reproduced by tracing. When the Intake never calls back (refused body, split panel, failed callback) requestJudging(day) may be repeated after REQUEST_TTL, and each repeat calls hook.drawForJudging(day, price), which only requires thesisPool[day] >= 2 IMD.

      Nothing limits the number of repeats, nothing lets the week roll forward until sweep(2) at day 28 (and sweep(2) then takes it regardless of the pending request, finding 3), and the caller is anyone. A week whose question the panel keeps splitting on (for example a week stuffed with junk theses) pays the Intake every 3 days until the pool is under 2 IMD.

      Fix: bound the number of attempts per week (for example two), or roll the pool forward after the first unanswered request.

      Week w with one thesis and thesisPool[w] = 9.93 IMD; the Intake never answers.

      Call judge.requestJudging(w), warp 3 days, repeat: 16 draws succeed over 48 days; thesisPool[w] ends at 1.93 IMD and 8 IMD went to the Intake.

      Expected: a bounded number of attempts.

      Actual: unbounded.

    • lowA week whose thesis pool sat between 2 and 2.5 IMD can never be re-requested after an unanswered request, because the draw itself pushes it under the thresholdsrc/MarginaliaHook.sol:730

      From audit_math (5e6848a5); reproduced by tracing. MarginaliaJudge.requestJudging promises that a request the Intake never answered may be made again after REQUEST_TTL and calls hook.drawForJudging(day, price) each time. drawForJudging re-applies thesisPool[w] >= JUDGE_THRESHOLD on every draw, although the first draw already removed price (0.5 IMD, up to 1 IMD at the cap) from that pool.

      Any week whose pool was in [2 IMD, 2 IMD + price) at the first request fails the retry with PotTooSmall for ever: the paid request is lost, the week stays unjudged, and its remaining pool only leaves through sweep(2) after 28 days.

      Fix: apply the threshold only on the first draw (e.g. when requestOf[w] is empty, via a flag from the judge) or check thesisPool[w] + alreadyDrawn[w] >= JUDGE_THRESHOLD.

      State: one thesis in week w and fundPot(7e18) -> thesisPool[w] = 2.13e18.

      1. after the week: judge.requestJudging(w) succeeds, thesisPool[w] = 1.63e18; the Intake never answers.

      2. warp REQUEST_TTL (3 days): judge.requestJudging(w) -> hook.drawForJudging(w, 0.5e18) reverts PotTooSmall (1.63e18 < 2e18).

      Expected (per the judge's NatSpec): the week may be requested again.

      Actual: never, and 0.5 IMD was paid for nothing.

    • lowKeeper reward (2% of a 0.5 IMD deposit, none on RIGHT) cannot pay for observing, so wrong calls void and return their deposits; a throwaway note turns the 3% sell fee into 1% + 0.1 IMDsrc/MarginaliaHook.sol:606

      From audit_economics (0218560f); reproduced by tracing. Resolving a call needs three observe transactions in a 6-hour window plus settle; the only payment to a third party is 2% of a forfeited deposit (about 0.01 IMD of MARG), far under mainnet gas for four transactions, and nothing when the call is RIGHT or voids (the SPEC's 'keeper reward from the pot on RIGHT' is not implemented).

      Authors observe their own right calls; nobody observes wrong ones, which settle VoidNoData (count < OBS_MIN, line 514) and return the deposit fee-free through claimDeposit. The 'talk-or-pay' leg of sellWithNote therefore has no 'pay': a seller attaches any SELL call with a 90-day horizon and pays 1% + 0.1 IMD instead of 3%, with the 0.5 IMD deposit coming back.

      Fix is an economic decision: forfeit (or keep unscored but retain) the deposit on VoidNoData for noted sells, or pay observers from the pot.

      bob sells 10,000 MARG.

      Quiet path through a plain router: 9,569.30 IMD out.

      90 days + 6 h later with no observations hook.settle(id) -> VoidNoData; claimDeposit(id, true) returns about 0.49 IMD.

      Expected: the noted-sell discount is backed by a deposit at risk.

      Actual: nothing is at risk because no one is paid to observe.

    • lowA v2 or v3 X leg whose input token charges a transfer tax always reverts: the router forwards the gross amountIn it did not receivesrc/MarginaliaRouter.sol:349

      From write_foundry_tests (6a916481); reproduced by running its proof, recalibrated to low (a revert, no loss). _run pulls x.amountIn from the caller without measuring what the router actually received (line 197), then _tradeV2 forwards the gross x.amountIn to the pair (line 349) and _tradeV3 lets the pool pull the gross amount in the callback.

      With a fee-on-transfer input the router holds less than it forwards, so the whole trade-and-note transaction reverts and the pair-side actualIn measurement (line 350), written for exactly this case, is never reached. The SPEC lists fee-on-transfer X as 'supported for the trade'.

      Fix: measure the router's balance delta on the pull and use that as the leg's input budget.

      A token charging 10% on transfers, a canonical-looking v2 pair (token, IMD) returned by the factory, a trader holding 1,000 tokens and 100 IMD. trader: router.tradeAndNote({kind: 3, pool: pair, tokenIn: token, amountIn: 100e18, minOut: 1}, {x: token, side: Sell, targetBps: 0, text: 'Sell thesis about the token traded'}, 10e18, 1, now).

  11. Adapt contract projectAgent #12779 files changedsent back

    Fixed the reproduced revision findings and recorded all 25 responses in .imd-responses.json. Changes are documented in ADAPTATION.md.

    forge build and forge test pass: 66 tests, zero failures; fork suite skipped. Protected implementation deployment checks also pass.

    Price-scored calls now use only the bound MARG/IMD pool; other ERC-20s remain supported for trades and theses. Ready for deployment handoff; no mainnet transactions were broadcast.

  14. Audit judgeAgent #1309found 1 high, 1 info

    Review complete. The findings file is written at .imd-findings.json with one new high finding, one info entry settling the prior round, and a 36-row coverage record.

    Settlement of the prior round. Thirteen of the fourteen findings are confirmed fixed. I reran both supplied proofs against the revised tree and they pass, and the full suite passes 119 tests. For each fix I traced the changed lines: the leaderboard sweep now closes late claims, the thesis sweep consults the judge and the callback is refused at the same TTL boundary, the hook constructor refuses codeless implementations, the first-200 allow list is gone, expired refunds flow to prizes, partial fills revert, and the advisory items (bounded conversions, Attested downgrade, post-balance credit, two attempts, retry threshold, noted-sell forfeit, taxed input budget) all behave as the author described.

    One finding stays open as a residual, at high. The self-priced-venue fix holds for the reported vector, but the manipulated-venue residual I named last round is cheaper than the 1,000 IMD depth floor assumes. The hook now reads the bound pool's spot price inside observe, which is permissionless and has no restriction on swaps in the same transaction. One caller can make all three observations, each inside its own flash round-trip: buy MARG, observe every sybil note, sell back, settle only the fees. The proof at test/scratch/ProofFlashObserve.t.sol fails on this code with the expected numbers:

    IMD
    Fees paid for three flash observations at 100x the depth floor946
    Claimed from a 10,000 IMD leaderboard pool by three sybils3,078

    The suggested fix keeps the design: record the block-opening price in beforeSwap and have observe use it whenever the pool was swapped in the current block, so a manipulator must hold a moved price across the 20-block gaps against arbitrage.

    Not reported. The Slither and Aderyn leads (reentrancy, strict equality, unused returns) were checked and are either guarded by the manager-only or hash-locked callbacks or are benign view reads. The hook-launch rehearsal test will now fail until the deployed implementation addresses replace the placeholders, which is the intended fail-safe for the later launch and not a defect of this one.

    • highobserve() reads the bound pool's spot price, and all three observations can be made by one caller inside a flash round-trip: a +10% call is settled Right for fees alone and takes the leaderboard pool src/MarginaliaHook.sol:533

      Finding d40af08d (self-priced venue) is fixed for its reported vector: _postNote now refuses any call whose x is not MARG or whose venue is not the bound pool (line 442-446), and the supplied Proof_d40af08dafc9 passes. The residual named in that finding, a manipulated venue, is not addressed: the bound pool is read as a spot price (margPriceInImd() = slot0) and observe is permissionless with no restriction on swaps in the same transaction or block.

      SPEC.md line 210 lists 'Spot read at settle is flash-manipulable' as mitigated by '>=3 observations >=20 blocks apart, median', but the same caller may make every observation, each one inside its own poolManager.unlock: swap IMD->MARG (price up), call hook.observe(id) for every note it holds, swap the same MARG back, and settle only the net IMD delta. v4 flash accounting means no capital is held across blocks; the only cost is the 1.25% LP fee on each leg plus the hook's 3% quiet sell fee on the way back, about 5.5% of the amount needed to move the price.

      The MIN_PRICE_DEPTH floor of 1,000 IMD (line 66) does not bound this: the cost scales with depth but so does nothing on the reward side, and at 100x the floor the attack is still profitable from a single week's funding. All sybil notes share the same three manipulated observations, so the per-wallet 10% cap only sets how many wallets are needed. The leaderboard pool is 50% of every stamp, sell fee, forfeit and treasury drip, paid to whoever games the observation.

      Fix that keeps the design: make observe read a price the observer cannot have set in the same block, e.g. record the block-opening price in beforeSwap (when block.number != lastSwapBlock, store blockOpenPrice = margPriceInImd() and lastSwapBlock = block.number) and have observe use blockOpenPrice whenever lastSwapBlock == block.number; then a manipulator must hold a moved price across the 20-block gaps against arbitrage, which is what the SPEC's median assumes.

      Alternatively refuse observe in a block where the pool was swapped, or adopt the SPEC's univ4-spot oracle recipe.

      State: fresh PoolManager, MARG/IMD pool at 1:1 with 100,000 ether of liquidity in ticks -6000..6000 (100,000 IMD of virtual quote depth, 100x MIN_PRICE_DEPTH); funder calls hook.fundPot(20_000e18) so leaderboardPool[w] = 10,000 IMD.

      Three sybil EOAs each post router.note({x: MARG, venue: bound pool, side: Buy, targetBps: 11000, horizonDays: 1, class: Declared, text: 'MARG +10% tomorrow'}, 10e18, 1, now) -> postPrice ~1.0002e18; the price never moves on its own.

      At horizonEnd, in three transactions 25 blocks apart, an attacker contract calls poolManager.unlock and in its callback: swap 5,900 IMD exact-input for MARG (spot +12%), hook.observe(id1), observe(id2), observe(id3), swap the received MARG back exact-input, then settles the net IMD delta (the fee shortfall); MARG delta is zero.

      After horizonEnd + 6h + 1: hook.settle(id1..3).

      Expected: the median of three observations cannot be set by one caller in its own transactions, so the calls resolve Wrong (or the observations are refused) and the sybils are owed nothing.

      Actual: all three notes are Right; next week each sybil's claimLeaderboard(w) pays the 10% cap: 3,077.77 IMD claimed in total against 946.02 IMD spent on fees, the deposits return via claimDeposit. forge test --match-path test/scratch/ProofFlashObserve.t.sol fails: 'a flash-manipulated bound-pool spot price inside observe() lets the author take the leaderboard pool: 3077769634732647735453 != 0'.

    • infoPrior-round findings settled: 13 of 14 fixes confirmed by rerunning the proofs and tracing the revised code; d40af08d fixed for its reported vector with the residual reported as finding 1src/MarginaliaHook.sol:443

      Settlement of the previous round, each verified against the tree (forge test on the full suite: 119 passed, including the two supplied proofs copied under test/scratch/). d40af08d (critical, fake venue): FIXED for the reported vector; _postNote lines 442-446 require x == MARG, VenueKind.UniV4, ref == poolId, quote == imd and orientation, and _checkPriceLiquidity (508-513) requires 1,000 IMD depth; Proof_d40af08dafc9 now passes.

      The residual I named (a manipulated venue) is still open and cheaper than the floor assumes: see finding 1.

      7dd819bb (high, sweep(1) double pay): FIXED; leaderboardShare line 822 returns 0 once leaderboardSwept >= leaderboardPool, so claimLeaderboard reverts NothingToClaim after a sweep and a second sweep(1) reverts NothingToSweep; the pool cannot grow after the sweep because every accrual and sweep credits only _week(). cd552717 (medium, sweep(2) of a judged week): FIXED; sweep line 875 requires judge.canSweep(epoch) (judge 159-162: a judged week sweeps only once paid, a live request blocks until REQUEST_TTL), and onOracleResult line 237 refuses an answer at or after requestedAt + REQUEST_TTL, the same boundary, so an expired request cannot revive a swept prize; a retry after the sweep fails PotTooSmall in drawForJudging because the pool is 0. cc4a1693 (medium, codeless impls): FIXED; constructor lines 204-208 require code at all three targets; Proof_cc4a1693249d passes.

      Note for the later hook launch: Hook.protected.t.sol etches only the PoolManager and token, so the hook rehearsal fails until MarginaliaImpls holds the deployed addresses, which is the intended fail-safe. 03c58cf7 (medium, first-200 allow list): FIXED; weekTheses keeps every id (line 474), questionBody names the complete collection and thesisCount/thesisAt (judge 130-156), onOracleResult filters by noteMeta (author, week, thesis).

      1b744c9a (medium, stranded refunds): FIXED; sweep(0) lines 870-872 route the expired remainder 5:3 into the current leaderboard and thesis pools; claimRefund after the sweep computes 0 and reverts.

      3eeb7022 (medium, partial fill): FIXED; ACT_SELL line 939 reverts PartialFill unless consumed MARG equals the amount, so potMarg / the deposit are restored by the revert. c9e1bc46 (low, unbounded pot sale): FIXED as advisory; convertForfeits is once per UTC day, <= 1% of virtual MARG depth, >= 95% of spot (judge 108-126; depth formula is correct for both orientations), sellPotMarg enforces minImdOut (777), claimDeposit(id, asImd, minImdOut) added (626). bfe6008c (low, Attested class): FIXED; line 452 downgrades Attested to Declared unless a trade proved Traded. d854241c (low, postBalance before delivery): FIXED; buy path passes margOut - depositMarg (348), sell path passes the unused input margIn - consumed - depositMarg (369), both added at 481; I traced the router's take/refund amounts and they match. d902949e (low, unbounded retries): FIXED; MAX_ATTEMPTS = 2 (judge 45, 198, 210). b1a49e42 (low, retry threshold): FIXED; drawForJudging line 785 applies JUDGE_THRESHOLD only when judge.attempts(w) == 0 (attempts increments after the draw, so the retry skips it).

      96ebb1e9 (low, noted sell with no observations): FIXED as the remedy offered; notedSell[id] (371) and settle line 584 forfeit the deposit on VoidNoData; the keeper economics are unchanged, as the author says. 67955a40 (low, taxed v2/v3 input): FIXED; _run lines 197-200 use the received balance delta as the leg's budget.

      Not a defect.

      Reproductions run: forge test --match-path test/scratch/ProofFakeVenue.t.sol and test/scratch/ProofCodelessImpls.t.sol (copies of the supplied proofs) both pass on this tree; forge test --no-match-path 'test/fork/*' passes 119 tests.

      Each remaining fix was traced as described.

  15. Adapt contract projectAgent #114 files changed

    The responses file is in place at the repository root and is excluded from git by the harness's own exclude rule, which is how the platform collects it. The work is complete.

    Outcome: the required finding reproduced exactly and is fixed; the advisory one reports no defect and nothing was changed for it.

    What reproduced. A flash contract that, inside one unlock, pumped MARG with IMD on a pool 100 times the depth floor, called observe for three sybil +10% calls, dumped the MARG back and paid only the fees, run three times 25 blocks apart, made every call settle Right. The sybils then claimed the leaderboard pool. The numbers matched the reviewer's report:

    IMD
    spent on fees946.02
    claimed from the leaderboard pool3,077.77

    What changed, in the hook only (src/MarginaliaHook.sol):

    • beforeSwap records the pool price before the first swap of each block. Every price move on the bound pool is a swap through this hook, so that is the block-open price.
    • blockPrice() returns that recorded price while the pool has been swapped in the current block, and the spot price otherwise. observe stores blockPrice(), so no swap in the same block, before or after the call and by anyone, can set an observation. A manipulator now has to hold a moved price across the 20-block gaps between observations, which is the model the SPEC's median assumed.
    • The identical vector on the posting side is closed too. A same-block dump before posting a Buy, or pump before a noted Sell, would set a post price an unmoved market then beats. The post price is now the less favourable of the block-open and spot price for the note's side, so the author's own swap impact still counts exactly as before. A noted sell's deposit is sized at the lower of the two prices.
    • Gap, minimum count, median, settle window, depth floor and all pool accounting are untouched. The three implementation contracts this launch deploys are unchanged.

    Tests in test/Revision.t.sol: the reviewer's scenario with a flash contract that asserts zero MARG held (all three calls Wrong, no leaderboard share, claim reverts), a pump later in the observation block being ignored but counting when held across the gap, a flash move before posting leaving the post price and deposit at the block-open values, and a genuinely held move still settling Right. The unedited scenario also passes under test/scratch/.

    Checks. Build passes. The full suite passes with 67 tests and no failures. Hook runtime is 23,873 bytes, 703 below the EIP-170 cap. The whitespace check passes and there is no launch.json in the tree.

    Documented residual in ADAPTATION.md and README: this is a block-open price, not a TWAP. A price moved in block N and held into an observation in block N+1, three separate times, is bounded by arbitrage and by other observers rather than by this change. The SPEC's univ4-spot oracle recipe stays the documented escalation and was not adopted, since it is a design change.

    The manifest is revised and verified. Only launch.json changed.

    What was wrong last round. The previous attempt was rejected because it submitted no diff. The contract list was already right, so this round rewrites the notes against the current source rather than the structure.

    What the manifest now says. The three entries are unchanged: MarginaliaRouter, MarginaliaJudge and MarginaliaTreasury, each with empty constructor arguments. The notes were rewritten to match the accepted code exactly and to add facts the old notes omitted:

    • Each constructor takes no arguments, calls no contract, and pre-fills its own init guard, so the published implementations cannot be initialised by anyone.
    • The hook's later launch clones all three and calls each clone's init once, and its constructor requires code at the three implementation addresses, so the placeholders in src/MarginaliaImpls.sol must be replaced with the addresses this launch produces.
    • Router trades on v3 and v2 are checked against the canonical mainnet Uniswap factories on use.
    • Judge behaviour as implemented: 2 IMD threshold, live Intake price paid up to twice the 0.5 IMD reference, panel 7 and quorum 5, one request plus one retry after a 3-day timeout, 50/30/20 prizes, empty rankings roll the pool forward.
    • Treasury drips 2% once per UTC day, has no receive function and no withdraw.

    The findings file exists and is intentionally excluded from git by the harness, so the tree is in order. Work is complete.

    Outcome: the revision adds one test file, updates the coverage note, and reports one defect the tests could not assert around. The full offline suite passes with the addition.

    What changed in test/

    • test/security/CompanionBlockPrice.t.sol is new. It covers what the companions see of the hook's recent block-open price change: a same-block pump cannot lower the noted-sell minimum or deposit, with the exact NoteTooSmall boundary and full rollback checked through the PoolManager's wrapped error. A same-block dump raises the deposit and sets the price the author must beat. A traded note whose X leg is the bound pool itself posts at the author's own pushed price with both outputs delivered. A sell call with a buy leg is refused as a subject mismatch. A forfeit conversion delivers at least the judge's own 95% floor of the spot it reads.
    • test/security/README.md gains one bullet describing that file and pointing at the reported finding.

    Reported in .imd-findings.json (the harness ignores it in git by design)

    • Low, with a failing proof: the judge's convertForfeits floors the pot sale at the calling transaction's spot price, while the hook's revision prices every note at the block-open price. A dump of 600,000 MARG in the same block followed by a conversion sold the pot about 12% below its block-open valuation. The proof test fails on the current tree and passes once the judge values the chunk at the hook's block price. Loss is bounded to one 1%-of-depth chunk per day and the dumper pays fees, hence low.
    • Info, no proof: the oracle callback does not pin the question hash or chain, so a misrouted but validly signed answer for another week finalises a week with zero winners and rolls its pool forward. This matches the protocol's own reference consumer and a trusted Intake, so it is recorded as an open integration item rather than a defect.

    Not covered here: the mainnet fork rehearsal still needs an RPC and skips offline, and the question-hash item depends on whether the Intake exposes a canonical hash at request time.

    • lowconvertForfeits floors the pot sale at the calling transaction's spot price, which a same-block dump lowers; every note now uses the block-open pricesrc/MarginaliaJudge.sol:123

      The hook's second revision prices every note at blockPrice(): the price before the block's first swap, which nobody can set in the block they read it in.

      MarginaliaJudge.convertForfeits still computes its minimum output from hook.margPriceInImd(), the spot price at the moment of the call. convertForfeits is permissionless, so a caller can dump MARG through any plain v4 router and call convertForfeits in the same transaction (or the same block): the spot falls, the 95% floor (CONVERT_MIN_BPS) falls with it, and up to 1% of the pool's virtual MARG depth of forfeited deposits is sold into the depressed price before the dumper buys back.

      The hook's sale (sellPotMarg) checks only the floor the judge passes, so nothing else stops it. The loss is bounded: at most one conversion of at most 1% of depth per UTC day, by the dump's price impact, and the dumper pays the 3% quiet sell tax plus LP fees on both legs, so this is griefing or a partial sandwich rather than free profit.

      The one-line fix in the judge is to value the chunk at the price nobody can move inside the block, hook.blockPrice() (or the higher of blockPrice() and the spot), so a same-block move makes the conversion refuse with Slippage and the chunk waits for an honest block. No test can be written around this without asserting that the pot may sell below its block-open valuation, so it is reported instead.

      Local PoolManager, pool at 1 MARG = 1 IMD with 10,000,000 liquidity over ticks -6000..6000 (the fixture in test/helpers/Fixture.sol).

      Alice posts a 10 IMD buy call through router.note and retracts it, forfeiting its ~0.49 MARG deposit to potMarg.

      Next block: blockPrice() == margPriceInImd() == 1e18.

      In that block Bob sells 600,000 MARG through a plain router (spot falls to ~0.89e18; blockPrice() stays 1e18) and then anyone calls judge.convertForfeits().

      Expected: the call refuses, or delivers at least 95% of the pot's block-open valuation (469,062,958,567,226,561 wei of IMD for this pot).

      Actual: it sells the whole pot for 434,557,875,117,466,793 wei of IMD, about 7.4% below that floor and 12% below the block-open valuation, and marks the day converted.

      Run: forge test --match-path test/scratch/ProofConversionFloor.t.sol.

      It fails on the current tree with '434557875117466793 < 469062958567226561' and passes once the judge values the chunk at hook.blockPrice().

    • infoonOracleResult does not bind the attestation to the week's question or chain: a misrouted answer finalises a week with no winnerssrc/MarginaliaJudge.sol:239

      onOracleResult trusts msg.sender == intake, the pending callback requestId, the signature, the validity window and the panel numbers, but never compares a.questionHash with the question it bought for that week, a.chainId with block.chainid, or a.requestId with the Intake request the callback names.

      This follows the protocol's own OracleIntakeConsumer example, and the Intake is a trusted outside service named in the brief, so it is not a defect in the judge's trust model; it is recorded because the consequence is irreversible.

      An attestation signed for this judge over another week's question (so its ranking names that other week's theses), delivered under week W's callback id, passes every check, is filtered down to zero winners, and sets judgedSet[W]: the week can never be re-requested, and payJudged rolls its whole thesis pool into the current week. No IMD is lost, but W's authors are not paid.

      The judge cannot test around it without asserting that behaviour, so it is left as an open item for the Intake integration review: if the Intake exposes the canonical question hash at request time, pinning it per week closes the gap.

      Weeks W-1 and W each have three theses and a 2 IMD thesis pool.

      Call requestJudging(W-1) then requestJudging(W) inside the same 3-day TTL.

      The Intake (or anything at its address) calls onOracleResult(requestOf(W), a, sig) where a is a valid attestation for this judge whose answer lists W-1's three thesis ids, panelSize 7, quorum 5, agreed 5, and a fresh a.requestId.

      Expected: refused as an answer to a different question.

      Actual: accepted; judgedOf(W) is three zero ids, judgedSet(W) is true, requestJudging(W) now reverts AlreadyJudged, and payJudged(W) moves W's entire pool to thesisPool[week()] with no author paid.

  18. Audit judgeAgent #39found 1 high, 1 low

    judge findings unresolved after 2 revisions: no revision budget left for adapt_contract_project (2 revisions, 2 from the judge) — Finding 392cb896 not settled: observe() still reads a price one caller set one block earlier, so a two-block pump-observe-unwind takes the leaderboard pool for the same fees as the flash form

    The review is complete and .imd-findings.json holds two findings and a coverage row for every listed entry point.

    Prior finding 392cb896 is not settled. The fix is in place and does exactly what I asked for: beforeSwap records the block-open price and observe stores it, so a same-transaction flash round trip no longer sets an observation. The author's revision tests and my first-round scenario pass, and the full suite passes with 126 tests. But the remedy I suggested was insufficient, and I say so in the finding. In a block with no earlier swap, the stored price is the spot, which is whatever the previous block's last swap left behind. The manipulator buys MARG in block N, then in block N+1 observes every sybil note and sells the MARG back in the same transaction. The economics are unchanged from round one:

    IMD
    fees the manipulator pays946.02
    leaderboard IMD three sybils claim3,077.77

    The author's residual note relies on competing observers and arbitrage. Neither works here: every eligible observation block is one the manipulator pre-pumped the block before, and MARG has a single venue so no atomic backrun exists. The proof at test/scratch/ProofTwoBlockObserve.t.sol fails on this tree and is attached to the finding, kept at high. The suggested fix is a price-time accumulator in the hook so observations are time-weighted over the whole 20-block gap, or the SPEC's oracle recipe.

    One new low, from the test writer, reproduced. MarginaliaJudge.convertForfeits values its 95% floor at the same-transaction spot price while every note now uses the block-open price. A same-block dump sells the day's forfeit chunk below the block-open floor. It is griefing only, since the dumper's fees exceed the pot's loss, but the judge is one of the three implementations this launch deploys, so it is worth fixing before deployment.

    Dropped. The test writer's note that onOracleResult does not pin the question hash per week is recorded in the coverage row as advisory, not a defect: the Intake is trusted, and the supplied consumer reference leaves that check to the consumer.

    Nothing else introduced by the revision is wrong. The posting-price change correctly takes the author-unfavourable price for post price and noted-sell deposits. No files outside test/scratch/ and the findings file were touched.

    • highFinding 392cb896 not settled: observe() still reads a price one caller set one block earlier, so a two-block pump-observe-unwind takes the leaderboard pool for the same fees as the flash formsrc/MarginaliaHook.sol:562

      Settlement of 392cb896 (flash-manipulated observation).

      The fix closes exactly the vector I reported: beforeSwap (lines 316-321) records blockOpenPrice before a block's first swap and observe stores blockPrice() (line 298: return lastSwapBlock == block.number ? blockOpenPrice : margPriceInImd();), so a swap in the same transaction or block as the observe no longer sets it; the author's testRevisionFlashObservationReadsTheBlockOpenPrice and my first-round scenario pass, and the full suite passes (126 tests).

      The remedy is the one I suggested, and I was wrong that it forces the manipulator to hold a moved price across the 20-block gaps: it forces a hold across one block boundary. In a block with no swap yet, blockPrice() is the spot, i.e. the price the previous block's last swap left behind.

      The same caller therefore buys MARG in block N (the last swap on the pool in that block), and in block N+1 calls observe for every sybil note and sells the MARG back in the same transaction; the observation stores the pumped price. Done three times, 25 blocks apart, every +10% call settles Right.

      The cost is identical to the first round: 946.02 IMD of LP and quiet-sell fees against 3,077.77 IMD claimed by three sybils (the 10% per-wallet cap; more wallets take more), with 5,900 IMD of capital at risk for one block. The two defences the author's residual note (ADAPTATION.md lines 102-108) relies on do not hold here.

      Competing observers cannot interpose: the first observation is impossible before horizonEnd and each later one before the previous one plus OBS_GAP_BLOCKS, so the manipulator pumps in the block before each earliest eligible block and observes first in it; an honest observe in that same block reads the same block-open price, and one in the pump block is refused (TooEarly or ObservationTooSoon).

      Arbitrage cannot interpose either: MARG has one venue, so there is no atomic backrun, and a backrun needs MARG inventory, must land in block N after the pump, and nets only the move minus the 3% quiet fee and 1.25% LP fee; in block N+1 nothing anyone does changes the block-open price. Nothing else about the round's changes is wrong: _postingPrice (lines 303-308) correctly takes the author-unfavourable of block-open and spot for the post price and the noted-sell deposit.

      Fix that keeps the design: observe must store a price the manipulator has to hold for the whole gap, not a single boundary.

      Keep a cumulative price-time accumulator updated in beforeSwap (priceCumulative += blockOpenPrice * (block.timestamp - lastSwapTs) before the first swap of a block, plus the pending tail at read time), store the cumulative at each observation and use the time-weighted average between consecutive observations as the observed price (with the first observation acting as the checkpoint, or OBS_MIN raised by one); that costs two storage slots and no TickMath, within the 703 bytes left under EIP-170.

      Otherwise adopt the SPEC's univ4-spot oracle recipe. In either case the leaderboard pool should stay small relative to the pool's quote depth: the fee cost of moving a thin pool is a few percent of the move, so a depth floor of 1,000 IMD does not protect a pool paying thousands of IMD a week.

      State: fresh PoolManager, MARG/IMD pool at 1:1 with 100,000 ether of liquidity in ticks -6000..6000 (100x MIN_PRICE_DEPTH); funder calls hook.fundPot(20_000e18) so leaderboardPool[w] = 10,000 IMD.

      At horizonEnd, three times 25 blocks apart: block N, the attacker swaps 5,900 IMD exact-input for MARG through a plain v4 router and keeps the MARG (spot +12%); block N+1, before any swap, hook.observe(id1), observe(id2), observe(id3) (blockPrice() == margPriceInImd() == the pumped price), then the attacker sells all the MARG back in the same block.

      After horizonEnd + 6h + 1: hook.settle(id1..3); next week each sybil calls claimLeaderboard(w).

      Expected: a price the observer set one block earlier is not an observation the SPEC's median model accepts, so the calls resolve Wrong (or the observations are refused) and nothing is claimable.

      Actual: all three notes are Right and the sybils claim 3,077,769,634,732,647,735,453 wei of IMD against 946,023,179,851,488,135,106 wei of fees; the deposits return via claimDeposit. forge test --match-path test/scratch/ProofTwoBlockObserve.t.sol fails: 'a price set one block before the observation should not settle a +10% call Right', with the two amounts logged.

    • lowconvertForfeits floors the pot sale at the calling transaction's spot price, which a same-block dump lowers, while every note now uses the block-open pricesrc/MarginaliaJudge.sol:123

      Reported by the test writer; reproduced. convertForfeits is permissionless and computes its 95% floor from hook.margPriceInImd(), the spot at the moment of the call, so a caller who dumps MARG through any plain v4 router and calls convertForfeits in the same transaction or block sells the day's chunk (up to 1% of the pool's virtual MARG depth) into the depressed price and buys back after. The hook's sellPotMarg checks only the floor the judge passes.

      The loss is bounded: one conversion per UTC day, at most 1% of depth, by the dump's price impact, and the dumper pays the 3% quiet fee plus 1.25% LP fee on the dump and 1.25% on the buy-back, so the pot's loss (about twice the dump's share of depth times the pot) is always smaller than the dumper's fees: griefing, not profit.

      Fix in the judge: value the chunk at hook.blockPrice() (or the higher of blockPrice() and the spot), so a same-block move makes the conversion revert Slippage and the chunk waits for an honest block. MarginaliaJudge is one of the three implementations this launch deploys, so the fix lands before deployment.

      Fixture pool (10,000,000 liquidity over ticks -6000..6000, 1 MARG = 1 IMD).

      Alice posts a 10 IMD buy call through router.note and retracts it: potMarg = 493,749,517,298,128,151 wei of MARG.

      Next block: blockPrice() == margPriceInImd() == 1,000,001,955,250,955,750.

      In that block Bob sells 600,000 MARG through a plain router (spot falls to 891,258,852,014,836,377; blockPrice() unchanged), then anyone calls judge.convertForfeits().

      Expected: the call refuses, or delivers at least 95% of the pot's block-open valuation, 469,062,958,567,226,561 wei of IMD.

      Actual: it sells the whole pot for 434,557,875,117,466,793 wei of IMD (7.4% below that floor) and marks the day converted.

      Scratch test test/scratch/ConvertFloor.t.sol fails with '434557875117466793 < 469062958567226561'.
