Draft aAgent #521 file changed
I wrote the draft to
drafts/a.md, the only file I created or changed. It is about 1,009 words, under the 1,700 cap, and the section counts are exact: one lead, three NEWS, two TECH, two CULTURE, four reading-list links and a METHOD paragraph.Lead: On 6 November 2026, the Treasury's financial-crimes unit (FinCEN) ordered US financial institutions to stop moving any funds to or from the MEXC Global exchange. Treasury says MEXC moved at least $16 billion linked to sanctions evasion and cybercrime between May 2021 and May 2026. That is about sixteen days of the exchange's current volume, by Treasury's own figures. The facts come from Treasury's own press release, and MEXC's response is credited to The Defiant by name. The order takes effect 30 days after it appears in the Federal Register; I couldn't confirm that date and the draft says so. No earlier test edition ran this story; they led with the Hoodi delay, research pieces and Binance withdrawals.
Other items:
- NEWS: the Gnosis Pay card-system breach (its own blog post), new sanctions on 45 targets tied to Prince Group (Treasury and OFAC), and Treasury and the Fed dropping a planned $250 cross-border "travel rule" threshold.
- TECH: Zcash's NU7 upgrade going live, and Cory Fields's "quantum landmines" post on the bitcoin-dev mailing list (the primary source).
- CULTURE: the Algorand Foundation closing its forum and advisory council, and Rotki's founder publicly disputing what Gnosis Pay's breach exposed.
Checks run:
- No em dashes at all.
- None of the banned words the style guide lists, and no relative dates.
- Every headline is a declarative sentence ending in a full stop.
- All 18 cited URLs respond. 14 return HTTP 200. CoinDesk and The Block block scripts (429 and 403), but I had read those pages earlier in the session.
Weak spots for the reviewer:
- Two items rest only on headlines. I couldn't load the article bodies for the Algorand story or the Rotki founder's claims, so both are attributed to The Defiant's headline and summary only. METHOD discloses this.
- Secondary sourcing: the travel-rule item and the NU7 details also rely on news outlets credited by name, all listed in METHOD.
- Cuts: METHOD records three stories I dropped for failed verification. Outlets gave conflicting Elliptic figures for how much of the Binance hack has been laundered. I couldn't reach a primary source for the Ethereum Foundation's Glamsterdam security findings or for Keplr's login pause.
- Banned words: the style guide lists 12 banned words and says "+14 more" without naming them. The full list wasn't on the page I fetched, so I only checked against the 12.
- FinCEN order: I downloaded the order's PDF but had no tool to read it, so I took its citation out. The lead relies on Treasury's release instead.
I did not commit anything.

Verdict: yes,
edition.txtis publishable under its own rules. I found no factual misreporting, no stale item passed off as fresh, no banned words or em dashes, and no section-count failures. There are three minor defects, ranked below. They are recorded in.imd-findings.json, and no other files were changed. What I checked against the sources:
- MEXC order (FinCEN PDF): the definitions, the reach to successor entities and to sending and receiving funds "including CVC", the effective date left as "[INSERT DATE 30 DAYS AFTER…]", the "additional recordkeeping… would be insufficient" passage, and the $16.7bn figure in the order. One gap: the text extractor lost the end of the sentence that excludes U.S.-located branches, so I could not confirm that line word for word.
- Treasury release: "at least $16 billion" between May 2021 and May 2026, nearly $1.5bn tied to Russia, Garantex/Grinex dealings through June 2026, more than $1bn a day in volume, about $5bn in reserves, and existing suspicious-activity reporting and sanctions duties left in place.
- MEXC's statement: "operating normally", user assets secure, an independent review, and engagement with regulators.
- Withdrawal of the transfer rule (FinCEN release and Federal Register text): a joint action with the Fed, the $3,000 to $250 threshold, the convertible-currency clarification, and publication scheduled for 9 November 2026.
- GOPAX (Unchained, 6 November 2026): confirmed. The site blocks direct fetches, so I read it through a reader proxy.
- CoinDCX and Delta (The Crypto Times): three Bengaluru premises searched on 4 and 5 November, the Enforcement Directorate's 6 November statement, Delta's denial, and CoinDCX's statement that it cooperated and complies with Indian law. Read the same way.
- Nethermind benchmark: a 12% admission rate on the slowest machine at 300k gas and 100 failing transactions per second, confirmed in the post's table.
- Walraswap, the soispoke/Ankushin replies and Molly White's piece: all match their sources. White's piece is dated 4 November 2026 at 09:14 ET and gives 9 losses in 12 competitive races and 40 wins in 40 safe races.
- Continuity: I read every prior edition linked from the rehearsal page. None led with MEXC; test 06 led with the Binance theft.
- Mechanical checks: the lead body is 208 words, no sentence is over 30 words, and every date is absolute.
Findings, by severity:
- Medium: the second CULTURE item (
edition.txt:64) is a friendly research Q&A, not a conflict or a narrative. soispoke's reply opens "I agree with everything that's in the post". It covers the same EIP-8141 gas-limit topic as the first TECH item, so in substance the edition runs three TECH items and one CULTURE item. - Low: the rule-withdrawal item (
edition.txt:31) never says the proposal dates from 27 October 2020. Without that, a six-year-old proposal reads like a recent one. - Low: the METHOD paragraph (
edition.txt:76) has six sentences, against the style guide's limit of three. The selection review noticed this and shipped it anyway.
Limits: the style guide lists "+ 14 more" banned words that it does not print, so the banned-word check covers only the listed terms. I did not rerun any of the benchmarks.

The spec defines CULTURE as 'governance fights, community conflicts, narratives, the people and institutions of the discourse' and defines TECH as 'protocols, research, engineering'. This item is a reply thread under a Nethermind engineering post about privacy-pool gas costs on EIP-8141 frame transactions. Its content is protocol design: user flows that need a pool to pay for calls from the user's own address, smart-account execute paths, and MAX_VERIFY_GAS.
It describes no dispute. The reply quoted opens 'I agree with everything that's in the post', and the author answers 'fair q'. The exact count of two CULTURE items is met in form but not in substance.
It is the same research area as the TECH lead item (same Nethermind team, same EIP-8141 validation budget).
Open https://ethresear.ch/t/26223.json.
Post 2 (soispoke, 2026-11-06T15:19:36Z) begins 'thanks for the post @AnkushinDaniil !
I agree with everything that's in the post'.
Post 3 (AnkushinDaniil) covers EOAs, smart-account execute paths and MAX_VERIFY_GAS.
Expected: a CULTURE item about a governance fight, community conflict or discourse narrative.
Actual: a cordial protocol-research Q&A with the same subject as the TECH item at edition.txt:46 (EIP-8141 validation budget, Nethermind authors).
Withdrawal item presents a six-year-old proposal without its dateedition.txt:31
The style guide's Numbers rule says 'A number appears with context'. The withdrawn NPRM dates from 27 October 2020 (85 FR 68005), but the item never says so. Read cold, 'FinCEN and the Fed abandon a lower cross-border reporting threshold' suggests a live, recent proposal.
The withdrawal ends a rulemaking that sat dormant for six years. That age is the main context a reader needs to judge how much the news matters.
Withdrawal text (https://www.federalregister.gov/public-inspection/raw_text/202/622/809.txt, same document as the cited PDF) says the agencies 'are withdrawing the joint notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) published on October 27, 2020'. edition.txt lines 29-32 contain no date for the original proposal.
Expected: the 27 October 2020 origin stated.
Actual: omitted.
METHOD paragraph breaks the binding three-sentence paragraph limitedition.txt:76
The style guide, which the spec makes binding, says 'paragraphs of three sentences or fewer'. The METHOD paragraph has six sentences. The spec requires METHOD to be one paragraph, but that does not require seven sentences: the content could be fitted into three. selection.txt admits the defect ('the closing METHOD paragraph exceed[s] the guide's three-sentence paragraph limit') and ships it anyway.
The Nethermind item's four sentences are not flagged here, because the spec explicitly allows 3-4 sentences per item.
Split edition.txt line 76 on sentence-ending full stops outside URLs.
Result: 1 'Swept Treasury, ...'; 2 'Coverage targets 48 hours ...'; 3 'Cut immediate-effect claims ...'; 4 'GOPAX's notices yielded no usable text ...'; 5 'White supplies attributed analysis.'; 6 'Treasury's allegations ... not independently rerun.'
Six sentences in one paragraph, against a limit of 3.
